Eighty-five members of the militant furry terrorist group the "Furry Liberation Army" invaded the state capitol building in Zennekrut, Friesland on Tuesday. The Furry Liberation Army is a recently formed terrorist group that vows to transform Topzeil into a "furry state" run by degenerate furries. The group attacked the building at 10:00 am Topsailian Standard Time and reportedly killed all twenty security personal present inside the capitol. The governor of Friesland Angela Roos has been taken hostage, according to the group, as has her cabinet. Topsailian police and military personnel have surrounded the building and are currently attempting to negotiate the release of the governor and her staff. Initial reports have said that of the eighty-five terrorist furries that originally were involved in the assault, an estimated fifteen were killed in gunfights with the security personnel and another twenty could be wounded. The police and the terrorists are currently in a standoff, and we will issue a new report if the situation changes.

Topsailian military police stormed the Friesland state capitol building after negotiations broke down during a ten hour standoff between the Furry Liberation Army and Topsailian military police on Tuesday. At 9:05 pm local time the Furry Liberation Army officially broke off hostage negotiations when they disconnected the phone they were using to talk with police, and at 9:11 military police stormed the building. After about a twenty minute firefight, over thirty furries were dead and twenty more captured, and the hostages were freed. None of the hostages, including Friesland governor Angela Roos, were killed, however the Friesland Minister of Agriculture was injured by a gunshot wound to his calf.

Meanwhile across the country, thirteen homes of furries were raided by military police. Over thirty furries were arrested and items seized included illegal guns and explosives, including several pressure cooker bombs that were discovered in a remote cabin in Ichoriland, where a group of five furries had been stocking up on explosives and building bombs for at least two weeks prior. All Topsailian government buildings and most state government buildings are under lockdown until at least Wednesday at the earliest.

At approximately 6:20 P.M, workers in the Nepetruhl Syneti Building in Sus Makad were in a state of panic after a suicide bomber detonated in the downstairs lobby. The attack, which happened right as most workers were preparing to head home, injured 74, and killed 5. Shortly afterward, a second explosion was seen in the parking garage, causing a collapse. The second bombing caused no fatalities, but caused an estimated 5 million in damage. Two blocks from the N.S Building, a third explosion occurred in the Vizier's Plaza, killing 46 and Injuring 80. This attack comes after efforts by Nepetruhl to purchase a clerical settlement atop massive oil deposits. Baccanese Terrorist group Fidih Emel has claimed responsibility, claiming that Nepetruhl Syneti had betrayed the word of Allah. There are three current suspects responsible for the bombing, Rahim Ale, 29, Yeshidam Faith, 47, and Mehmad Rubikul, 32. The three are believed to have been suicide bombers from Gatito, having migrated here to seek jobs.

Hemilqar was praised for the skill used during the speech, however critics are alarmed at his call for funding of Nepetruhl. In addition, there are already talks of sanctions against Gatito should they find any ties to their government by Fidih Emel.

Foreign Affairs Representative of the Alliance of Greater Gatito, Nyazik Mergen, announced this afternoon that the events that transpired in Sus Makad are not connected in any way to the AGG.

"The three members of Fidih Emel who are suspected to have carried out the attack are not connected in any way to Gatito or the Gatiton people except through ethnicity," said Mergen.

The Representative went on to explain that the Black Army would begin mobilizing westwards, after having been concentrated in the east of the nation for several months due to the instability in Nanming and its relationship with Tiando.

The majority of his speech was summarized in his final remarks:

"Any and all evidence that alludes to a connection between Fidih Emel and the communal governments of Gatito is either misinterpreted or fabricated altogether! The bombing is of no concern to us, aside from the obvious mourning of the loss of human life. We pursue no political agenda outside of our borders aside from the universal liberation of all peoples, of which Fidih Emel is clearly opposed to. Yasham's speech is amid blazing rumours of corruption within the Oil Party of Parliament, and the recent falling shares of Nepetruhl Syneti. Many journalists are speculating that the attack was a scheme fabricated by Hemilqar and Nepetruhl to justify hostile relations against Gatito, and to lower the reputation of Imiri Baqunid, the company's main rival that has been steadily gaining value as of 2016. Prime Minister Hemilqar Adan continues to insinuate Gatiton involvement, a move that is unlikely to aid his 24% approval rating.

Follwoing a deadly terror attack in the nation's capital which killed the Consul, Aéroports de Palais announced that they will go ahead with the new plan for the nation's busiest airport. AdP cites that terminal 2, which was opened just a decade ago, is too crowded. The new Terminal 3 was designed by Daviau & Bertrand, a Architectural firm in Palais. The Kathic Tourism Commission expects only a minor decrease in tourism for the 2017 season. AdP hopes the new terminal will be finished by 2021, which hopefully, they say the effect from the attacks will have worn off and the city will have a positive influx of tourists.

William Scantlebury (International) - Letwinist States - The parliament of Letwinist Sates has passed the Resolution 1/2017 gravely stating disapproval of what Secretary General Taavi Jokinens called a “depressingly barbaric start of the new year 2017“.

On the first day of the first People’s Congress of 2017, representatives of the six Letwinist Council Republics and two Autonomous Republics passed a resolution condemning in particular the attacks which shook Sus Makad on Saturday and the hostage situation in Zennekrut which lasted for almost twelve hours; “violence against innocent people is a brutality of immense proportions and can only be condemned as such by any person of ethics and dignity“.

It's that time of year- the snow lightly blankets the coastal villages, the inland farms are periodically burried, and the treasury starts to freeze as taxes collected last December are put in reserve and usually reserved for nessessary functions of state. The Educan government collects taxes at the end of the year instead of January, to allow businesses and people a cushion of the last big influx of tourist money- Christmas and Hanuuka- before the wallets get thinner in January to April, until tourism picks up again in May.

As a sign of this, the celebrations and pomp of the summer and fall comes to an end- there aren't any scheduled activites aside from normal running of government until the Prince's birthday, in March. Schools however rejoice, as there are three state vacations in January and Febuary to help save what marginal cash they can on the daily running of school.

Thrace hit by the coldest winter in the last 60 years

In the last few days, the Empire of Thrace has been hit by the coldest weather recorded this century, and one of the coldest winters of the last 60 years. A strong blizzard hit Northern Thrace last Friday, before it advanced into Southern Thrace. Temperatures plummeted, and despite being taken by surprise, the Logothete of Internal Affairs/Logothetul Afacerilor Interne has acted quickly in order to deal with the extreme weather.

Most of Thrace has been under a code orange warning of extreme cold weather from Friday until the present, with it being projected to continue at least until the end of the week. According to the Imperial Meteorology Administration/Administrația Imperială de Meteorologie(AIM), the nighttime temperatures will stay between -29 degrees Celsius and -15 degrees Celsius in this period, while the maximum during the day won’t exceed -10 degrees Celsius. Schools were closed all across the country, as the Logothete of Education/Logothetul Educației has decided that the extreme weather will not allow the students to reach their schools. Highways in the northern part of the country, connecting Thrace to Kathmandue, have been closed due to the bad weather, with the authorities doing their best to reopen them by tomorrow. Trains were delayed or stopped, and the airports in Rivulus and Corona closed down due to the blizzard. With the river Istrio freezing due to the cold, the Thracian authorities have banned all shipping and naval transport until the weather returns to normal, as ice jams formed all over the Thracian section of the river, especially around the city of Rivulus. As such, naval transport has been deemed to dangerous, and the ban will be effective from 1500 TST. Istrio is one of the main river arteries of Aurora, but the final part of its course is divided between the control of the Empire of Thrace and of the Thracian Democratic Republic, with both nations not recognizing the other, and claiming control over the other. With most of the states in the world only recognizing the larger Empire of Thrace, and with Thynia being unable to challenge or reinforce such a ban, only the decisions of the authorities from Veranium matter. However, it is expected that Thynia will respond with a similar ban on transport.

The first deaths due to the blizzard have been confirmed, as a family has frozen to death in their house in a town near Rivulus, after their central heating has failed during the night. The Imperial authorities are doing their best to help and protect the people that are vulnerable in such a weather. Thrace's northernmost nuclear power plant, Nuclearelectrica Rivulus had to disconnect and shut down its number 1 reactor as the heavy blizzard and the freezing of the Istrio caused a glitch to a power evacuation line belonging to the power transporter. With the electricity and gas consumption reaching historical levels on Wednesday night, Thrace is forced to use its stored energy, gas, and coal reserves, with all other power stations across the country working at full power. It is however not expected for any major problems to appear from the point of view of energy, and various sources have indicated that this is merely an overreaction from the Thracian authorities.

While the Empire of Thrace has managed to manage the crisis accordingly, reports coming in from the so called Thracian Democratic Republic, commonly known as the Thynian Democratic Republic show a grim situation. With economical problems still persisting from the 1980's, the totalitarian state is unprepared to face such a weather, with its coal and gas powered power stations, and the many problems in the Thynian electricity distribution system. Rumors indicate that due to the crisis getting out of hand, Thynia might send emergency electricity requests to its neighbors, including the Empire of Thrace, otherwise, the entire totalitarian country might be paralyzed by the blizzard.

The weather is expected to continue over the following days, but the Imperial authorities are prepared to ensure that the crisis will pass without any major problems.

The Imperial Government has issued a formal letter of condolences to the United Kingdom of Greater Celibrae, praising her reign, and declaring that flags in Veranium should be flown at half-mast until Friday, in solidarity with Celibrae and Kathmandue, but it is unknown if the other federal subjects of the Empire will do the same. The National Fascist Party is especially expected to oppose such a move strongly, but it is unsure if its leaders will react.

The decision of the Emperor and of other members of the Thracian Imperial Family to attend to the funeral of Queen Victoria II come amidst high tensions between Thrace and Kathmandue, which have been propagated towards other members of the ADAN, like Grothbord and Celibrae. Members of the Crown Council itself have advised the Emperor not to go, although ultimately, His Imperial Majesty has decided otherwise. It is however expected that the Thracian delegation will request to be placed as distantly as possible from the delegations of Kathmandue and Grothbord. The Imperial Logothete of Foreign Affairs has however refused to comment on the matter.

The group N'aki Tava(Against Western Imperialists) has captured a village 10km north of the Valyrian Canal. The Valyrian North, contrary to the prosperous south, has been dealing with the group for the past 3 years. The group is an extremest (Islam) group. Valyria, like much of the world, is worried what would happen if the group gained control of the canal. The government has reached out to Tebessa and Kathmandue for help in protecting the canal. It is not sure how the Kathic government will react, as the nation is still reeling from the death of Consul Rougnaix. Consul Thorsson nor anyone in the Kathic government could be reached for comment. Tebessa has said that they "have committed 3,000 men to protecting the canal". It is not sure how the rest of the world will react.

With the blizzard that has been ravaging Thrace and Thynia nearing one full week of existence, Thynia, the so called Thracian Democratic Republic, was in a desperate state, as rumors indicated. A totalitarian socialist one party state, Thynia was created after the Second World War from the territory that remained under the control of the communist movement, "the Thracian People's Government", after the end of the Transition Wars, the short but brutal guerrilla conflict in northern Thrace, which set the border between the two nations on the Istrio river, and allowed the Thracian Tranistion Government to go on a form the Empire of Thrace, the larger nation that is recognized as the true successor of the Greater Thracian Empire (1922-1944) my most nations in the world. A country with closed borders, a dictatorship where everything is subjected to the system, Thynia is one of the most brutally oppressive regimes in the world. And also one of the poorest. Although it saw an economic growth and rebirth from 1955 to 1980, the Imperial Thracian blockade of the Istrio and of the Pelagian Sea,and the response of the Thynian Government to the Protests of 1980, and the Worker's Uprising of 1982, which were both brought down in blood by the Thracian People's Army and the Department of State Security, commonly known as "Securitatea/Секурьтатя", ruined the image of Thynia in the world, and has led to many countries breaking diplomatic relations with it, especially due to the strong opposition of the Empire of Thrace to recognize Thynia as anything more than the "Autonomous Theme of Thynia/Thema Autonomă a Thyniei". The strong diplomatic pressure of the Empire, which has threatened to break diplomatic relations with any states recognizing Thynia, and which still has no sort of official diplomatic relations with the states recognizing it, have led Thynia to an isolation on all plans. Thynia was ravaged by the Economic Crisis of 1985, and hasn't recovered ever since.

While the Empire of Thrace has managed to deal with the blizzard, and one of the coldest winters in the last century in a relatively good manner, due to its many nuclear power plants and an excellent energy storing and distribution systems, Thynia has none of these. Storing and distributing energy in Thynia is made with a system that has only suffered small improvements from the 1970's, and a system that is mainly based on coal and lignite power stations. And a system, which has broken under the pressure. The extremely cold temperatures have led to a historical record of gas and electricity consumption in both Thrace and Thynia, and Thynia simply couldn't bear it. Millions of people have currently remained without electricity and heating, as the temperatures have dropped to levels that are even colder than in Thrace, the lowest recorded being -35 degrees Celsius, in the Thynian capital.

In a televised speech today, the old dictator of Thynia, comrade Nicolae Kiseleff, the President of the Thracian Democratic Republic, and the General Secretary of the Thracian Communist Party, has asked "the peoples of the world" to help Thynia, without fully describing the disastrous situation in which his country currently is. Imperial Thracian reports however show the true extent of the disaster, with large parts of Thynia having remained without electricity and heating, and with the Thynian Government being unable to support the costs of importing electricity and gas. As such, the emergency energy request of Thynia is asking the countries of the world for help, without the nation helping them being able to expect anything in exchange. While the help request of Thynia is mainly oriented to the nations that recognize it as a nation, like Raventsvo and Gatito, it is pretty obvious that the only countries that will be able to react quickly are its neighbors, like Thrace, Grothbord, and Kathmandue. The situation however, is pretty tricky.

In an unofficial note to his embassies, the Empire of Thrace has informed foreign countries that it will allow foreign countries to send electricity and gas to the country that Thrace claims de jure control over, through its Autonomous Theme of Thynia, as long as this help will be done through the Imperial authorities. In order to cover everything, the Themal Council of Thynia, the regional authority in the Empire of Thrace that claims to be the regional authority of Thynia through the de jure Autonomous Theme of Thynia, a federal subject of the Empire of Thrace, has mimicked the request of help of the unrecognized communist government. As such, the countries that want to help Thynia without angering the Empire of Thrace can, and should do it through the Empire of Thrace.

The contents of the same note, which will be revealed by the Imperial ambassadors to the diplomatic services of the countries that are in, mention that the Empire of Thrace is also going to respond to the Thynian request of help, but unofficially. The Empire of Thrace does not wish to compromise its policy, and is going to continue to refuse to recognize the existence of the Thracian Democratic Republic. Any governments which will respond to the Thynian request directly may antagonize the Imperial authorities. The last part of the note however mentions that the Thracians believe that this humanitarian action is far more important than diplomatic and military animosities, and as such, the Imperial Government of Thrace that all foreign governments will cooperate and avoid a diplomatic crisis.

Sources from the Thynian Government indicate that the situation is too desperate for Thynia to refuse such a help, and unofficially, it has asked for the help of the Empire of Thrace, and it will accept all the help that will come through the Imperial authorities.

Kathic Troops arrived in the both the Capital Kabara and the City of Bounem Nendani. The troops totaled 5,000, with another 2,000 coming in February. Kathic Troops wil be stationed along the Canal to help repel N'aki Tava (ߌ‎ߒߌߞ‎ ߊ‎ߕߏ‎) from attacking it. The Canal remains a vital part of the Valyrian economy, and if destroyed could potentially plunge the nation into an economic death spiral. The N'aki Tava wish to establish a new Islamic State in Valyria, yet only cover a small part of the territory. Compared to the more prosperous south, Northern Valyria remains agrarian, dry, and poor. It had a small boom in the 1990s, but fell in the early 2000s due to cultural strife. This will be the first major deployment of Kathmanduean troops since the Tebessa War, wich ended over 50 years ago. "I believe our troops are ready" Said Major General Jaques Yves. "They have been trained rigorously in the Tebessan deserts for about 2 weeks. I believe they will handle the conditions and any fighting that occurs. We have amour and aircraft, they do not." Consul Thorsson assured the people that he will not deploy troops en masse, however another 10,000 troops may deployed. It has yet to be seen how well the Kathic Troops will fight.

After both Thynia and Thrace experienced a brutal winter storm, the coldest in 60 years. Consul Thorsson said the the Kingdom will give power to Thynia, despite recognizing it as an Autonomous Region in the Empire of Thrace. "Even though the Kingdom does not recognize the Thracian Democratic Republic as it's own nation, we would be hard pressed to not send power to their people. Our recognition does not deter us from giving them a basic human need." For decades following World War 2, Kathmandue has been storing power in various locations around the country, and produces much excess power, enough so that the Consul apparenctly feels like the nation can 'donate' power to Thynia. It is not sure if the act will damage relations with Thrace, whom Kathmandue recognizes as the legal owner of Thynia. The relationship between the Kingdom of Kathmandue and the Thracian Democratic Republic is very complex, as the nation during the cold war sleeked to be on good terms with both the east and the west as part of Consul Casimir Roux's ideal of leading the Neutral Bloc. However since 1990, Consul Roux abandoned the plan and started warming up with the west. He never fully recognized the TDR, but never claimed it not to exist, leaving it up to his eventualy successor Réné St Martin, who then only recognized it as an "Autonomous Theme within the Empire of Thrace". Ever since then the nation has had little interaction with the TDR.

Minister of Defence William Worth announced logistical and intelligence cooperation for the Kathic mission to Valyria yesterday:

"We are supporting our stalwart allies on the continent in their defence of the Valryian people against a radical insurgency and the elimination of their threat to the global economy. This is part of our ongoing commitment to stability and growth in the region, and is an example of our dedication to the ADAN alliance and peace"

When asked if the United Kingdom would make a greater contribution to the escalating conflict, the Minister stated that:

"I sincerely doubt it: I have the utmost confidence in the Kathic forces, and unless they explicitly request our help in ending this threat, we will not deploy more significant forces, but in the unlikely event that the time comes, we will be ready."

As of today, four C-17 strategic airlifters and three C-19 tactical airlifters have been added to the roster of aircraft supporting Kathic operations. A further two KC-19s and one KC-13 aerial tanker and an EC-13 signals intelligence, battlefield reconnaissance and command post have also been dispatched directly to Valyria, to directly contribute to the Kathic effort. The EC-13 is said to be being operated by members of both the Kathic and Celibraean Armed Forces.

It is unknown as to whether elements of UKSF have been deployed to the region as of yet.

ADAN summit in Veranium

The Alliance of Democratic Auroran Nations has announced today that the next summit of the alliance will be held in Thrace. The Elysian country was one of the most obvious candidates to hold this summit, and the recent diplomatic discussions between the member state of ADAN have led to this conclusion. The leaders of the ADAN nations will meet in the Imperial Capital of Veranium, one of the oldest and proudest cities in all of Aurora, known poetically as "the New Elysia", to discuss several important matters, and to strengthen the cooperation and the reconciliation between Thrace and the other member states of the ADAN, after the results of the Thracian elections, where the Thracian Fascist Party, a right wing nationalist party became the second largest party in the country, and after several diplomatic incidents, that have together led to tense relations between the Empire of Thrace and the Kingdom of Kathmandue. The Imperial Government has once again affirmed its resolve to relax and improve the Thracian-Kathmanduean relations.

This summit also comes at a time where the tensions between the two Thracian states, the larger empire of Thrace and the largely unrecognized Thracian Democratic or Thracian Istrian Republic, commonly known as Thynia internationally. Military tensions had reached a new peak in autumn, as both Thracian states had organized military exercises next to each other's borders, but the cruel winter had frozen those tensions, as in face of one of the coldest blizzards in history, Thynia asked for help, and Thrace, or Odrysia, as the so called Thracian Democratic Republic and those who recognize it call the Empire, answered. Thrace and Kathmandue responded to the emergency energy request from an humanitarian point of view, and the two states organized themselves to help the millions of Thynian people that had remained without electricity and heating.

But now, as the weather has improved, the tensions are expected to rise again, and that is rumored to be a big discussion that will be started by the Thracian representatives at the summit. Other international problems, like what is happening in Valyria and in Banyan, might be also discussed by the delegations of Celibrae, Ichoria, Kathmandue, Topsail, and Thrace.

With its strict border rules, and strong and well funded police and intelligence forces, the Empire of Thrace has been always considered to be a safe country, and the Imperial authorities have already started to prepare Veranium for the summit. As soon as an exact date is decided, the Empire will be ready to welcome all delegations.

Over the past week, impeachment proceedings for Prime Minister Hemilqart Adan have been the source of heightened angst among the citizens of Banyan, who have been dissatisfied with Hemilqart after the recent developments regarding the Sus Makad attacks. Finally, after a long 8-day trial, the Imirs of Baccania released the final vote. The Imirs of Amal, Adast, Bagra, Mai, Banyan, Ruzincan, and Zeme all voted in favor of impeachment, while Ustrit voted nay. The Topsailian Navy submarine TNS Dolfijn recorded a very loud and unusual sound in the North Allonian Ocean on Friday. According to a Navy press release the sound was recorded about five hundred kilometers south-west of Othelos while the submarine was on a training exercise. Loud, unusual recordings are not uncommon in the Arctic, they're usually caused by ice quakes or ice breaking off the main ice shelf, however this sound is unlike any ever recorded. "We do not know at this time what caused this sound," said Naval press secretary Josef Roos in a press conference this morning, "However we are looking into it. The Topsailian Oceanographic Institute is involved in our investigation and we will get to the bottom of this." The sound lasted for about twenty seconds, and was extremely loud. The Topsailian Oceanographic Institute is currently inquiring into whether or not any underwater acoustic arrays run by other nations heard the sound, which has been dubbed "the rumble" by Topsailian news sources, and is expected to begin their investigation immediatly.

New ruling coalition forms in the Imperial Senate

Today, the leading members of the center-right National Monarchist Party/Partidul Național Monarchist, and of the right wing Legion of the Dawn/Legiunea Zorilor, have announced that they will form a political coalition in the Imperial Senate, which would grant them a leading majority, with 55% of the Senate on their side. This move comes as a shock, as it was expected that the National Monarchists would continue their historical coalition despite their bad results in the elections. However, after a short internal struggle, it seems that the right wing faction inside the NMP has won, and as such, the largest historical party in Thrace has joined with the runner up to form the next government of the Empire. Their announcement was so shocking that for now on, the other political parties have not issued any sort of statements, though political experts claim that the Liberals and the Social Democrats might join forces in order to form a coalition, while the Purple Union might be convinced to join the leading coalition. It is also unknown what the reaction of the Democratic Alliance of the Kathmandueans in Thrace will be.

This comes as a major victory for the Legion of the Dawn, after excellent election results, they now to have a say in the formation of the next government. This will be the first time ever since the Second World War when a nationalist, right wing party, enters a ruling coalition and takes part in the forming of the government of the empire. It is still unknown how the foreign nations will react, but the Legio Aurora has once again submitted the strong wish of its members to protect the democracy of the Empire, and to lead their nation to a Thrace first policy.
