Stevidian Criticism Prompts Shipyard Unrest

RAMARCK, MORRDH.- Recent criticism from Stevidian Prime Minister Conroy has sparked unrest amongst shipyard workers working on new ships for the Stevidian Royal Navy currently being built in Commonwealth territories.

The use of Morridane shipyards were offered to help quickly bring the Stevidian Royal Navy back up to strength after horrific loses it had suffered during the Great Dienstadi War, it was also an attempt by the Morridane government to mend relations with the Holy Empire after disagreements during the conflict. It proved to be a boom for Commonwealth shipyards as extra workers were hired and shifts ran round the clock in order to fulfil the contract, for months the shipyards were a ceaseless hub of activity seven days a week. But following the remarks made by the Stevidian leader there has been a noticeable slowdown in work, plus a sharp decline of interest in overtime with many work hours going spare. The Gwentian Provincial Police have also reported an increase in street brawls, notably involving Stevidian sailors being set upon by shipyard workers, and have increased police presence in certain areas as well as barring either side from certain pubs in the Ramarck area.

Morridane Prime Minister Edmund Vermillion has weighed in on the affair and stated that Her Excellency's Government is offering a hansom bonus if the work is completed early and to a high standard, though some cynics has viewed this as an attempt at bribery by the government. The PM went on to praise the workers and stated that they should take great pride in their worker and disregard the opinions of foreign nations, though time will tell how successful his efforts are.

The as yet unnamed submarine limps back into port

A Stevidian Royal Navy attack submarine is reported to have been involved in an underwater collision whilst on operations within Oceanus Libertas. It is believed, following reports from unnamed sources in the United World Order, the submarine may have collided with a hostile counterpart submarine belonging to the Fourth Reich.

The Imperial Ministry of Defence has declined to comment on the subject responding only with: “As per government policy, we do no comment on Royal Navy submarine activities in anyway shape or form.”

A maritime enthusiast in northern Liberated America secretly photographed the submarine as it entered HMBN Cobra, approximately 2pm local time. The picture appears to show superficial damage to the conning tower with acoustic tiles missing and pressure bottles exposed. The picture also shows the submarine unescorted and therefore able to move under its own power on the surface.

What will rile the Ministry of Defence is that the incident meant that the submarine had to make urgent repairs meaning an entry into port in daylight, a seldom seen practice given secrecy around the Stevidian Submarine Service. Furthermore it advertises the presumed fact that the Royal Navy are conducting submarine operations in Oceanus Libertas in some capacity. The Ministry of Defence, as reinforced by their statement, never reveal information of any kind regarding the Submarine Service.

Most of the information has been provided by an unnamed source inside the Fourth Reich. The source is believed to be a member of the public or works within their civil service; the information seems to corroborate the photos taken in Liberated America.

The source suggests that a Reich Kreigsmarine attack submarine and the Stevidian submarine were engaged in a form of ‘Cold War mischief’ by attempting to detect each other in a game of cat-and-mouse. Such dangerous skulduggery was relatively commonplace in the past and can hone the skill of a submariner but betray nation tactics used by a nation’s submarine fleet; but it broadly involved the use of either passive or active sensors to locate an enemy submarine and then manoeuvre behind the enemy or to another point in order to get a good ‘targeting solution’ required to torpedo the enemy. All the while, the pursuer must not be detected.

Such games can involve vessels coming quite close to each other, sometimes within a few metres. Collisions have happened in the past with submarines of different nations, but this is the first publically identified case of it happening to a Stevidian submarine.

This is a highly embarrassing revelation for the Imperial Ministry of Defence. The Stevidian Submarine Service is a highly secretive organisation, one that is barely acknowledged by the MOD itself. It is so secret that some senior naval commanders have no idea about the general activities or deployments of their own submarines and are only informed of what they need to know. Therefore, whenever there is a public sighting or revelation of their activities there is a high degree of intrigue and discussion.

The reason these operations are some of the most secret in the world is so that the Service can take full advantage of stealth and surprise against any would-be aggressor. Such instances include the Titan missile attack against Lyras towards the end of the Great Dienstadii War. It also allows the nuclear deterrent to remain an ever-present threat to an enemy. It is speculated that very few, if any countries in the region or the world have any idea of Stevid’s submarine numbers or variants of class beyond reasonable presumptions and usual naval intelligence.

But the fact that this occurred in daylight hours in Oceanus Libertas and required the submarine to surface and re-enter port, again – in daylight, paints a clearer picture on the efforts of the Royal Navy’s submarines in the region. What is clear is that Stevidian submarines are engaged, to some degree but likely an extensive effort, in anti-submarine operations in Oceanus Libertas. Given that a corroborative source in the United World Order has confirmed that a collision has taken place involving a Kreigsmarine vessel means that the current cold relations between the Fourth Reich and the Empire endure. The proximity of the Fourth Reich to Imperial territory, separated by a small ocean, is enough for the Royal Navy to show a presence as menacing as submarine warfare.

However this incident does show something else this not embarrassing to the Empire and that is the quality of their submarines. The inherent dangers of ramming a submarine into another whilst submerged are obvious and therefore easy to discount this incident as deliberate. It shows that Stevidian submarines, in general, are extremely difficult to detect either passively or actively, which has then led to a collision. Conversely the same could be said about Kreigsmarine submarines, so the gulf in capabilities is small.

Only one thing is certain. Two opposing submarines had a crash and both are out of immediate operation.

Compromised Operations?

The Royal Navy has refused to make comment and likewise with the Kriegsmarine, but the pictures show more than just a damaged submarine.

Only a few months ago, the Holy Empire was embroiled in large-scale war against the Fourth Reich in what was former Red Star Union. The actions there involved thousands of Stevidian troops, including two airborne divisions. The actions of those in and around a town to the south of the then besieged city of Tuktar would underscore to dogged and grim determination in the face of overwhelming odds the Stevidian military is now well recognised for. Location Golf and the surrounding areas of control held by the paratroopers prevented Reich reinforcements and supplies reaching the city. By the time additional Imperial armour and mechanised troops arrived, the war was almost at its final conclusion.

The Fourth Reich, who then threw many military units at the Imperial lines, did not ignore this fighting; determined to lift the siege of Tuktar. Reports of death marches and executions of prisoners are not unfounded either. So the cold relations between the two states are worthy of recognition and respect. In this sense, allied naval operations in Oceanus Libertas are more likely than they are not.

However the surprise revelation (or rather apparent revelation) that both Reich and Imperial navies are actively hunting each other and attempting to disrupt the missions of the other will be of public concern. Overt naval presence from Stevid is commonplace; Oceanus Libertas has been flooded with shipping since the Kashubia War in order to prevent Reich supplies reaching their troops. But since this is no longer the mission, the presence is to remind the United World Order that Stevid rules the seas in Central Greater Dienstad.

Yet for the overt surface presence, the very nature of submarine operations has been displayed to both sides and the public – and with neither side acknowledging the attentions of their submarines or the incident. It is then worth noting that it is important this has happened so that the nation knows it does. Had this incident had a fatal ending, it is likely no one would have ever known.

The Holy Office of the Inquisition has begun its own private investigation into the alleged crimes and the execution of three Kyogoist Christian Barjaani citizens via crucifixion. The Inquisition has stated that the ground for doing so is possible heresy by way of crucifying Christians.

The three men were taken by a government sponsored group known as the ‘1st Death Squad’, allegedly ordered by the Emperor. They were ordered to round up three people of the Kyogoist denomination and crucify them as a warning to Nifonese invaders. The Greater Nifonese Empire of New Aeyariss (Nifon) has yet to make comment.

The Stevidian Inquisition focuses mainly on the citizens of the Holy Empire and almost solely of Catholic doctrine, however it is not unusual for it to investigate international religious affairs where Christians, generally speaking, are persecuted. In this respect the Inquisition may call their militant arm, the Stevidian Order of the Knights Templar, to arms in order to correct the wrongs of a Christian sect in person with an actual inquisitor.

It is believed that the investigation is in its infancy and may take many weeks before the final verdict is arrived at and then publically declared from Saint Malleus cathedral in the Wastelands. But should a verdict of heresy be reached, according to Catholic doctrine, it will presented as a report to Parliament by the Party for discussion. On the one hand the House may decide not to intervene, whereas on the other it may decide that the Church holds authority and that the Inquisition may do as it needs to enforce doctrine.

The Stevidian government has made no official comment on the crucifixions but has praised the Inquisition for stepping in on behalf of the Kyogoist Sect, a sect that bares some similarities to Catholicism and its minor Stevidian deviations – particularly its grim interpretation of evil.

It would not be the first time that the Inquisition has prosecuted foreigners for crimes against the Church, Papacy and God; it would not the first time if they request the presence of the Knights Templar or requisition Stevidian Military forces in order to enact whatever judgement they reach. During the war against Kanami, Aqua Anu and within the island chain of AHSCA, the Inquisition utilised the Templars and Stevidian forces extensively throughout the occupied territories. The Inquisition was also in Holy Panooly with the Templars during the recent war with the united World Order and also in Stevidian South Greal against Imbrinium once it was confirmed that Crown forces were desecrating churches in occupied areas.

Where the former is an extremely controversial topic within the Empire, the latter two are true examples of how dangerous the Holy Office and its Order Militant are, and how far its influence reaches. Potthan is some distance away from the Holy Empire and definitely outside its spheres of influence. However the Empire has built a reputation in the international community as a defender of the Faith and is unique in how the Catholic Church and the nation-state are very much entwined. Frequently described as ‘Constitutional Theocratic-Democracy’, the country has infrequently interjected into foreign affairs in order to support Christians of any sect; none more obvious than the official condemnation and overt political hostility towards Automagfreek and their Empire, and Ralkovia.

It is widely expected that the Inquisition will root out heresy given the fact the method of execution was crucifixion in an humiliating affront to another sect whilst trivialising the act of crucifixion given its extreme significance to Christianity. Should this occur, some national sanctions against Potthan are almost certain, but Church endorsed military action should not be written off just yet.

A NEW FRONT AGAINST RELIGION

2nd & 4th Potthani Death Squads Deployed to Siege and Execute Catholic Churches in Jujalarim.

Today the 2nd and 4th Death Squads were deployed by request of the Emperor and the Imperial Senate for Religious Enforcement to seize the 6 Catholic churches in Jujalarim and eliminate any and all found on the property. In total, 45 males (as well as 5 elderly females) have been identified and killed whilst 17 are still in police custody. 34 females aged 13-44 have been found and put into custody of the Imperial Slave Federation to be shipped off to work in brothels in Agadesh and Arujaan. Legate Karaf Sabushte was in charge of the operation and stated, "This was a huge success to the Empire and enforcing the will of the Gods.".

Following the operation, several humanitarian rights groups in Barjaanistan have condemn the heroic actions of the two Death Squads and are being investigated.

Stevid and the Golden Throne Conduct
Joint Wargames in the Sea of Crowns

Over three hundred Stevidian and Macabéan warships came together in southern Sea of Crowns
to perform the first joint naval exercise in the two country's histories.

Task groups sent by the Holy Empire of Stevid and the Golden Throne sailed into the southern Sea of Crowns, just north of the Territory of Monzarc, for Operation 'Indigo Sunset.' Held over a six-day period, the exercises are the first between two countries that not more than ten years ago battled each other at Otium Aqua. They represent a new milestone on a road to reconciliation and greater political cooperation in central Greater Díenstad.

The two have suffered from a rocky relationship since the inception of the Golden Throne, in 2004. Lukewarm allies at first, Stevid moved to support the usurper during the War of Golden Succession, sparking a conflict that would end only after the use of nuclear weapons. The consequent cold war in partitioned Guffingford did not help resolve tensions, but a change of focus to other theaters — including Theohuanacu and South Greal — allowed the frontier there to slowly cool.
The Treaty of Hoogensbosch seemed to be the rapprochement the two empires needed, establishing a generally unanimous vision of central Greater Díenstad. So far, that vision has held together. Still, ten years is a very short while, especially after the chilling animosity created during the war a decade ago.

Perhaps the animosity is simply untenable in a quickly transforming world order.

The shock of the catastrophic ambush of the Stevidian fleet during the Great Díenstadi War, together with the rise of divisive powers like the Fourth Reich and Ralkovia, has evidently persuaded both governments that their futures are best guaranteed through cooperation, rather than conflict. This has been made doubly true for the Golden Throne, which has invested over half of its mobilized forces into the invasion of the Scandinvan Empire, in Gholgoth. The two empires also have overseas possessions that have forced them to rethink their geopolitical strategies, with a greater focus on keeping the sea-lanes open — something easier to do if they don't have to worry about each other.

According to sources in the Kríermada, the exercises were undertaken to "analyze successes and complications in mission cooperation and interoperability." The two tasks forces worked on allied communications discipline, fire control order, information sharing, and formation drills, all with an eye on future joint combat operations. They also practiced combat air sortie command and control and situational cyberwarfare, including in live fire exercises meant to replicate enemy attacks on the fleet. The Golden Throne also reportedly sent a small team of hybrid-electric submarines that conducted ambushing and penetration drills, allowing the two navies to work on cooperating in an anti-submarine warfare capacity. The exercises were reportedly meant to test all functions and tasks that an allied fleet would be expected to handle, and they represent the first joint naval exercise in the history of the Golden Throne.

"There were a lot of pleasant surprises," said one high-ranking source, "but a lot of things that we need to work on. That's to be expected, though. Our two navies have never worked together and there are a lot of kinks that we'll have to smooth out. But, at least now we have an idea of what these problems are and what kind of solutions we can bring, so that when the real deal happens we'll hopefully be ready."

What future enemies could have brought the two empires, which for years were at odds over the fate of much of central islands of the region, together? Relations between the two improved further during the Second Krasnovan War, finding themselves fighting on the same side against the Reich. Could the exercise have been a further warning against the Reich? A sign that the two of them were willing to join forces again against them? Perhaps, but relations between the Golden Throne and the Reich have cooled, despite the recent war in Holy Panooly. Furthermore, upsetting them contradicts any intention to stabilize the center of the region.

The more likely target of the exercise is Ralkovia, a country whose slave trade goes against the core of much of the region's beliefs. Its strengthening grip on Potthan, despite intervention by Castille, Imbrinium, and others, has accelerated alarm of the pariah's intentions to expand its trade further east. The exercises are a clear signal that its practices will not be tolerated east of Makria.

Indeed, the exercises come soon after a decision to cease promised aid to Potthan. Jericho's continued radicalization and the deepening Ralkovian roots have prompted the Golden Throne to switch its support to the Elders, with the intention of helping to prop a free, sovereign, and independent Baarjistan in the post-war. While seeking to remain neutral in the growing conflict around Potthan, neither does the empire plan to allow Ralkovian tendrils to meekly probe eastward. The Imperial Bureaucracy declared its intention of participating in unrestricted warfare against all Ralkovian merchant shipping — including slave trade — that passes through central Greater Díenstad, north of the Satrapy of New Empire, and around the Pennsylvanian Seas.

In this context, the joint exercises are both a show of strength and an image of a united front. A front, mind you, that comes to include Imbrinium, given the Crown's leadership position in the mounting coalition against the western slavers and its strengthening alliance with the Golden Throne.

Whatever the case may be, the wargames give color to a subtle return of normalcy to relations between the two great empires of the central continents of the region. And whatever implications it may have for events in the far reaches of Greater Díenstad, cooperation between the two governments can only promise more prosperity and more peace in a part of the region that has suffered from wanton, indiscriminate destruction for far too long.

Aged 33, weighing 198 pounds, 6'3" with black hair, amber eyes, and several scars lashed on his face and body. The bounty is priced $500,000,000 Golden Dollars and foreigners are welcome to participate. He is expected to be heavily armed and extremely dangerous. Former officer of the Potthani Legion, but was dishonorably discharged after killing two of his squad mates and his commanding officer.

Church vs Government Land Dispute

MORRDH.- The Catholic Church of Morrdh is currently in a dispute with Her Excellency's Government over land acquisition for an expansion of the Dunwich Naval Base in the Rohanner Isles Territory of Morrdh.

With an increase in the Royal Morridane Navy's anti-slaver patrols, the facilities at the Dunwich Naval Base (also known as HENB Dunwich or HES Allegiance) are due to be expanded to accommodate the additional ships and personnel. The Ministry of Works has placed a series of Compulsory Purchase Orders on land that surrounds the naval base, part of which is land owned by the Church and is at the center of the current dispute. Archbishop of the Rohanner Isles, Arthur Rankin, has sent an appeal against the CPO to the Morridane High Court whilst the Government is seeking advice from the Provost Council on the matter. As of yet no date has been sent for a hearing by the High Court, though it is expected to be a long and heated legal dispute.

Lare` Relief Efforts
Now with the Pacific Military State under Emerstarian occupation, the northern part of the island of Lare` lies in ruins. Cities such as the capital, Roandsburg, and the coastal city of Erwsi have lost over half of their populations to the invasion. Now, an Emerstarian ally, Dorejan has sent relief efforts to the small territory. In a recent speech to the citizens of Lare`, President James stated, "First of all, I'd like to thank the leader of Dorejan for helping us rebuild... now with Pacifcan forces out of Lare` and the Pacific mainland under our occupation, Emerstari is in a safer position than it has been..."

Brigadier Charles Limburg, former commander of occupation forces in Spookistam and mentor of Commander McHenry, has been sent to help aid the Barjaani with a small force of soldiers, too. His goal as he stated is to, "...train the Barjaani rebels to fight against the Potthani regime. I do not see fit that we equip them with our weapons because that as history has seen does not end well for many." Currently, McHenry has been stationed in northern Emerstari training troops until further involvement in the growing issues.

Colonel Archambeault is not listed as Torrington Nautica permanent personnel, his billet is not listed under his service record that is public domain, and the Nautica refused to comment on the leak or Colonel Archambeult's status other than being assigned to the Clandestine Operations Directorate of the Air Force.

With hostilities beginning again in the former Red Star Union, the People's Unified Federation has offered to aid their allies in Tuktar. Two Ironheart Rapid Reaction Divisions from the Federal Eighth Army have been mobilized and deployed to the war torn region to support allied efforts to keep the peace in their area. In addition, one Naval fleet will be deployed to assist in assuring the Northern Bay of RSU remains conflict free.

This move comes after startling reports that Ordernite units may already be on the Island, in violation of post war agreements. While official numbers have not been confirmed, the fact that the Federation is willing to violate the agreement by reinforcing the Morridane Enclave, would give credit to this theory.

TUKTAR.- In light of People's Unified Federation's offer of military aid to Tuktar, both the Tuktar Government and Her Excellency's Morridane Government have politely declined the offer.

"Whilst the offer is much appreciated, we must decline at this point in time." A spokesperson stated. "Both governments are working towards defusing current tensions and improving relations in the region, the presence of a Mokan military force would be counter-productive especially since the Commonwealth is looking to scale down its own military presence [in Tuktar]."

A counter-offer by the Commonwealth has made to providing base facilities for the Mokan force in New Garrack to enable to work with Commonwealth rapid response forces if Tuktar comes under attack. A similar deal for naval forces to be offered port access in Mordent had also been made.

CAMP FORRAKER, Kassaran Isles — The nuclear portions of "Operation Degradation", named for the operation's doctrine to "completely annihilate and embarrass any potential enemy" according to Defense Secretariat spokesman Glenn Trippe, have concluded with a 50,000 kiloton thermonuclear weapon being detonated over the Mishkishi Atoll roughly eight-hundred kilometres from the main archipelago of islands that form the Kassaran Isles.

"Today, Operation Degradation has concluded the nuclear portion of the exercise, with a 50,000 kiloton nuclear device being detonated offshore of the Kassaran Isles. The detonation had devastating effects on the Kassarani coastline from Commencement Harbor on the island of Kaleli, where the Castillian Occidental Headquarters Garrison is, all the way to Pendala Isle, roughly three-hundred kilometres away, shattering windows as far as the Citadel, on the Capital Isle. The detonation was conducted right above sea level, causing a major tsunami warning for the aforementioned areas. Premier Adams' popularity is at an all time low, and control on legislation is slipping as two Senators have recently switched their affiliation to the Opposition, the Popular Unionist Party, led by Jacques Perier, who has announced his candidacy to run against Premier Adams in next year's elections. Adams' Loyalist Party now holds a razor-thin majority in the Senate, with two seats.

There is growing concern among moderates, libertarians, and the general populace that a war with Ralkovia would lead to the institution of a total war doctrine. In a recent survey, 66% of those surveyed said they were worried about martial law and the suspension of habeas corpus being instituted should a conventional war with Ralkovia start. Furthermore, 48% of those 66% said that they felt fighting a war with an enemy completely across the region would be 'incompetent and unnecessary'.

"We have come a long way from the Vaughn regime," Senator Kate Elise von Schouvenbach of the Clasdonian Republic, Third Seat said. "We are better to focus and concentrate on internal issues rather than wage a war against an enemy who has no regard for human life." Schouvenbach is a prominent member of the Liberty Caucus, a group of libertarians in the Loyalist Party.

Across the region, the operation has caused some concern among other nations.

"I personally think its reprehensible that the Castillians are staging nuclear demonstrations in order to assert a global status of dominance," Countess Leavenfall of the Morridane House of Lords said in the Parliament chamber immediately following the initial reports. As part of a show of force against Ralkovia taking place roughly eight hundred kilometers off the coast of Kassaran, the Castilian Union detonated a fifty megaton nuclear weapon. The explosive force of the massive weapon registered on seismic sensors all over the region, and condemnations have come pouring into the Union from the entire region, as the radioactive fallout is anticipated to affect states in eastern Greater Dienstad to varying degrees. Foreign Minister Tanya Ley has confirmed that the Free Republic has also sent a stern diplomatic note to the Castillian Union, warning them against such practices in the future. The National Agency for Technical Relief (Lamoni's Civil Defense organization) has been activated with a mandate to monitor radioactivity levels across Lamoni in the coming weeks and months, in order to ensure that fallout from the nuclear detonation does not reach Lamonian shores. In addition, NATR has been ordered to hold nuclear protection drills, to ensure that the Lamonian public knows what to do in case of nuclear attack.

As another part of the Lamonian response to the Castilian nuclear detonation, the Lamonian Navy has announced major wargames, to take place one thousand kilometers east of the Lamonian state of South Serif. While it is not yet known how many Lamonian warships will take part in the wargames, it is thought that the deployment will have to be at least as large as the Castilian deployment near Kassaran to have any real significance. One noticeable difference from the Castilian exercises is that the Lamonian wargames will not be using nuclear weapons, the dichotomy intended to remind the Castillian Union that nuclear weapons are to only be used as weapons of last resort, due to the hazards that they pose to all, without discrimination. Another interesting point of note is that the Lamonian Navy's ten Hood class SDNs might take to sea during the wargames, as a test of whether they should remain part of the Lamonian fleet, or if their weaknesses outweigh any further usefulness. The nearly two kilometer long ships have never seen any wartime service in the Lamonian Navy, and are generally seen as the ultimate extension of a modernized battleship. Similar ships are known to exist in the Macabeean, Stevidian, Mokan, and Lyran navies, but their use has seen a steady decline since the introduction of the SDN-killing Khan missile. Even the mighty Stevidian Royal Navy elected not to use their SDNs during the war in Stevidian South Greal, a choice which was controversial at the time, but which seems to have been borne out when it was clear that the Lyran Navy could see and track Stevidian warships at far greater distances than their Stevidian counterparts could see and track Lyran warships.

Olaf in a partisan effort to create a multi-tier setup of the nation's government by the creating of our six principal offices of government to create an efficient government. She's known as a major proponent of education and has worked to create major educational reforms."

Tomoe: "Madam Olaf has cited her reasons to retire is her desire to spend more time with her growing family. Mother of one with one more on the way now, she felt she has done her duty and is preparing to return to her home on Stilleståndö."

Scott: "All members of the state have given their thoughts and well wishes. Duchess Villa stated

Madam Olaf has served since my mother's reign, I've known her to be very patriotic and good at what she does. We owe her all our gratitude I will miss her from office.

Tomoe: "That's correct, I imagine there's no provision because maybe the framers didn't conceive of it, after all this was very new territory when we formed as a union, many of the islands have had a long tradition of singular monarchies, hereditary lines, tribal councils we're still having a lot to really understand about running a democratic society even in the semi-state we have."

Scott: "I know I'm foreign and I'm still grasping it's also possible they thought just maybe anyone who would retire or even die in office would have a deputy or immediate successor but surprisingly Olaf has a personal assistant but never appointed a deputy or a successor, did she do it for democratic purposes?"

Tomoe: "That I'm not certain about if she thought, I mean the election cycles have fluctuated because of weather, seasons or just political turnout but typically every six years is the given window. We're still quite a stone's throw from that."

Scott: "About halfway, so what can happen? Obviously with no procedures in place it's kind of open to what Duchess Villa can do?"

Tomoe: "Well the way I see it a few options are on the table, Duchess Villa can go straight to appointing a new Head of Congress, we can have an early election, we are in a pretty good time just as monsoonal seasons end but before hurricane season really begins she could also leave it to Congress to appoint. An election of course could mean shakeups in Congress, we have a few new parties just gunning for some seats. Surely the Communist Party is just looking for their big advantage"

Scott: "Be very ironic if they managed. We'll be keeping tabs, there's also some potential moves for some of our curent Governors or Officers who may be looking to move to the legislative side of government, plenty of up and comings, a favorite is certainly Ayla of Corona"

Tomoe: Chief Ayla is still very popular in Corona but she has been looking to leave the Chiefhood of that state but if she ran or was appointed, I'd say there's a very strong chance of the NLP reclaiming the majority. I mean Corona she's nearly universally approved, other islands she has a very strong approval rate, she has a strong traditionalist appeal which is very strong base in the NLP and its followers. She's one of the original Framers."

Scott: "If we elected our national leader as in some other countries she'd probably give Duchess Villa a run for her money."

Tomoe: "Just like a Prime Minister or President?"

Scott: "Exactly so."

Tomoe: "Prediction, do you think it would come to an election over appointment? I mean we are a nation of political parties"

Scott: "I think that's a very good point, we've talked about Party Shakeups and Ayla has leaned to NLP, I'd imagine Congress wouldn't like an abrupt shakeup by pure Royal Order. But it's also possible the appointment will be there to fill the void until an election can be held. Chief Ayla would be the strongest candidate to do that because of her overwhelming popularity but there's still other potential candidates with any of the Officers in Government. There's Officer VinoCacao whom has presumably been grooming her potential replacement with her deputy, there's a lot to say she's been eager to move up in Government to being closer to Duchess Villa than she is now, some say she would seek Premiership in Animalpolis."

Tomoe: "We have seen Deputy Officer Tendo really pull up some of the Foreign Office slack. Officer VinoCacao did originally seek Defense Office. This may be the case where a special election is called it would be much easier to fill an Officer position in Culture, Meteorology, Defense, Foreign Relations than a congressional head."

Scott: "There's also the Head of the Party who may fill the vacancy until the election is over or an appointment can be made. Duchess Villa has a big decision on her hands it won't be one she'll take lightly. She may even gather some reactions from our partners in Lamoni and Mokastana."

Tomoe: "Well in fear of us really getting ciricular here, I think we've speculated as much as we can, this is the wheels of government in work."

The Free Republic of Istegium recently became independent from the People's Unified Federation of
Mokastana after years of tension and strife The two countries recently agreed to a compromise and Istegium was able to gain its independence. In a vote the country was soon set free. What happened next surprised many.

After Istegium won its Independence, it turned around and offered basing right to forgein military and private military corporations. And one of the first to secure such rights was the Timocratic Republic. Representative from both parties recently secured a deal in which the Republic will gain rights for two massive bases, one a air base and another a harbor/fort combination. IN exchange for an undisclosed amount the Republic will assist in training the Istegium military. Full details and plans on the bases have yet to be disclosed.

Von Hohenberg(87) has served in the Wehrmacht particularly the Ordenite Army for nearly 60 years and had been a crucial member of the Wehrmacht chief of staff under the Oberkommando des Wehrmacht for over 30 years until his unfortunate passing earlier this morning. His position as Chief of Staff has been succeeded by General Hilmar Zierhofer(51) following the passing of Von Hohenberg and will be attending the funeral procession that will take place within Berlina where it is expected that tens of thousands will spectate and join in mourning of another hero to the Fatherland and the Volk. Otto von Hohenberg leaves behind his Wife, and six children ages 29-40 in his wake.

Ebonaervon, Itailia(Herald) — What has long been called the Archon's Awaited Minute has finally arrived this morning; after more then four months of a long Justicar investigation that was on top of an already two year long investigation that initially began this entire affair, a verdict has been reached in Aman v. Philo Conspiracy; chief presiding judge Decus Merenius Sunuso, joined by fellow Advocate Judges Caius Lutatius Messalla and Sapthan Ûrîzîr, read out their 87-page verdict, which declared disgraced former Director of the ITO Sextus Mucius Philo, the 5 Under Directors and 25 other now former employees of the ITO as guilty.

Sentencing was held immediately after the judges finishing reading through their verdict; Philo was found guilty of more then 32 crimes, the most severe of which was Imperial fraud (fraud that is committed by an government employee against citizens), and lying under oath which is a result of his original Midyear 14 testimony where he implicated former Treasury Secretary Kaeso Fabricius Pansa as the leader of the conspiracy that the Justicars had discovered. Despite the fraud charge being how this whole affair began, it is the second one that has perhaps been the most important and the one prosecutors focused on the most, for his original testimony was bought at face value and was initially collaborated with some evidence, but it was later all proved as an elaborate way to shift blame onto Pansa, who was thoroughly innocent. However, the Archon had fired the secretary just three days after the testimony, and many have remarked the move was entirely premature as just eleven days later the Justicars had already announced that one piece of evidence "implicating" Pansa was found to be fake. The move brought severe rebuke towards the Archon and his party in the Senate, Senator Sulpicia Terentia was a increasingly furious critic of the Archon, and attempted to pass through legislation that would have required Senate approval to dismiss a Cabinet member; this piece ultimately failed, but it remained in debate for two months and ensured the Archon would have a full and proper scandal in just the second year of his second term.

Philo was sentenced to 37 years in an Imperial prison, with no chance of parole or early release; 2 of the Under Directors were given life sentences due to being convicted of homicide, witness intimidation and bribery, while the rest all received sentences ranging from 14 to 27 years in length. The sentences are notably harsh when compared to prior Imperial fraud cases, but as Judge Sunuso remarked in his judicial summary, there has not been a case as "corrupt and morally bankrupt" as this one in perhaps the past two or even three centuries; the only easy comparable was the case of Iuventia Severina, a socialite who used her connections to land her a Senatorial seat and a spot on a number of Tribunals, only to openly advertise taking payment as a way to decide her support. She was charged and convicted more then 300 years ago, and was eventually hanged for her crimes; while state prosecutor Abraeke Sezeran may have seemed vicious in his motions and persecution of the criminals, the death penalty was out-lawed for white collar crimes more then eighty years ago.

The closure of this case, and for the Archon this nightmare, will mark a turn of the page in recent Amanitte political history; Archon Caius has struggled to maintain a hold on the Senate ever since the Senate was reformed seven years ago following the conclusion of the Sundering, but until this year he appeared to be gaining more traction and control until the Pansa Incident blew the door back wide open again. Even now, he is being challenged by opposition members in the Senate with serious clout, such as Senator Sulpicia Terentia of the Xerla Bloc whose budgetary reform desire has put her in close leagues with Senator Spurius Cornelius Balbinus of the Gildan Coalition, who has been the primary thorn in Gaius's senatorial side since Gaius came into power. Moreover, Senatorial elections for no less then fifty seats will be taking place this month and Senator Balbinus has been increasing aggressive in his campaigning efforts to both raise support from his Coalition and also for any local Gildan candidates, and the Dio Coalition has been struggling to put forth a unified response. The fifty seats could prove key to the opposition which seeks to "ensure the Government remains in order", and winning or even just retaining all of their current seats could see Dio's wobbling foundation restrengthened again.
