Traestanians have cherished democracy since 1963, after the fall of the authoritarian, corrupt government that was established after the unification of Traestan. For four long years, we were ruled by a ruler with an iron grip on the nation. There were large famines, the economy abruptly fell and died, and the military was overfunded. No more, the people chanted, as they tore down the authoritarian establishment. Today, our nation is one of the most democratic nations on Kerbin. Freedom and Liberty has prospered. However, today, various nations on the rise threaten that beacon of Freedom and Liberty. Our fellow democratic nations are being threatened by rising, power hungry nations. We will not let this pass, and will unite. The Torch of Freedom and Liberty will not be extinguised. Today, we will be co-founding an alliance of Democratic nations. The Council of Democratic Nations. Member nations of the CDN will work together to defend Liberty and Freedom, and we will defend the very foundation of democracy.

Grand Worker's Assembly Emergency Meeting, 17/12/17, 3:00 PM

Chairman Hito Kami walks to the podium and the ever so familiar hall. The anthem, Death to the Imperialist Aggressors plays to the background of about 800-1000 people clapping. Then Chairman grabs a folder containing what he will say for the speech. He then clears his throat and begins.

"Comrades, it has come to my attention that our proven one party system is now in these times, outdated. We have been using this system ever since the Revolution in 1952 but now we have seen the rise of other friendly ideologies and beliefs that may help our union to endure through time. That is why from this day forward we will be holding elections. Our first ever election will be on the 20th of December."

Hito shuffled a few pieces of paper and tried to begin speaking again but, the crowd erupted into a sea clapping and cheering. Eventually the crowd stopped and Hito spoke again.

"We have also decided the only way to combat the looming imperialist threat from the North, East and West must be combated by joining our fellow comrades in the mighty push against the pigs of the North, East and West. We have formally decided to join the Internationale and join our comrades in great friendship and honor."

Hito folded his arms and the crowd once again, clapped and cheered. Hito then walked away behind the stage of the hall whilst the National Merited Orchestra plays the anthem.

In recent times, the nation of UZSR has had a massive democratic reform. Now, any parties with sufficient support are allowed to become a part of the government, and individual parties can have internal elections as to whom they nominate. It is for this reason that they have decided to join the Internationale. After a vote within the Red Congress of 388 to 115, they have been accepted into the Internationale of the Red Banner. More than ever in this increasingly divided world, the left will stand united, driven by the voice of its people.

10:26. It was a cool sunny morning, and I was about to do something historic. I walked out with my pilot's helmet onto the smooth surface of the tarmac. In front of me stood two air force generals and the president himself.
"Mr. President, i-i-it's an honor sir," I stammered out.
"The honor is mine, Kathrine. I didn't want to miss the show," president Greg Kerman responded.
"The show" that the president was referring to stood right in front of me. An NV-13 "Ceres" fifth generation fighter jet prototype, the only one currently in existence. I was going to be the first to fly this beauty. As I climbed into the cockpit, the government officials cleared out of the way. I conducted preflight checks and fired up the engine. The next few moments became a blur: Taxiing on to the runway of the military base, getting cleared for takeoff by the officers in the tower. I began to accelerate, feeling the force of the thrust as the plane rose into the sky. It really was a dream to fly...

The Leader held a speech about the CDN, in which he expressed his joy about the democratic alliance, and that he is willing to fully cooperate with the CDN, in case it is necessary.

First Enhancement Centres Completed
The first Social Enhancement Centres have begun deployment on Monday in the cities of Nokoyami, Sukomi, Thalassa, Kheyoko,
and Camena. Opening Ceremonies lit up the streets in Camena, and in Nokoyami, hundreds of citizens have already visited the public complexes in the past four days. Polls indicate that 97% of people living in these areas approve of them, and satisfaction was apparent during all civilian interviews. "This is probably one of the best days of my life," said Noko Tsukiyama, a faithful worker from the nearby Aeroko factory. "I now have access to hours and hours of fascinating information about the world and about my glorious homeland of Kheyaus. Just today, I learned that Glorious Leader has written more books than any other world leader, ever! How fascinating! I just can't get enough of these state-sanctioned political novels. Module Sent to ICSS
The Ministry of Space and Aeronautics has just completed a cutting-edge communications module for the Cadenzan International Cooperative Space Station. "This is a first for Kheyaus, and our module is the most advanced on the station," remarked Dr. Aretina Stamati, the current Minister of the aforementioned institution. "Our top scientists got together to create this extraordinary apparatus, dubbed "Sokuma-One," and it truly paid off. This module houses all the communications equipment on the ICSS, and is arguably the most important on the entire station, all courtesy of the Grand Chairman. Tomorrow, when it is launched, will mark a historic day for Kheyaus, and will be remembered for generations to come as the day that an international effort sent Kheyausian-made equipment to space." The module is composed of two large radio dishes, three high-gain antennae, and two small rectangular dishes, as well as a maintenance platform and lighting. A specialized Cadenzan cargo jet picked up the module from the Verolina International Airport, and it is set to launch early tomorrow from Cadenza. The scientists at MoSA sends their thanks to Cadenza for accepting the Kheyausian design for the module, and would like their peers in Cadenza to know that they have total confidence that the launch and rendezvous will be a complete success. If all things go as planned, Kheyausian equipment will be thousands of kilometres above Kerbin, looking over the world.

Productive Year; Rations Increased
"2017 marked the most productive agricultural yield in decades," said Minister of Economic Success Richard Nomuka in a press statement on Thursday. "Unprecedented rises were seen in rice and wheat production, and slightly less dramatic rises were observed in fruit and vegetable yields." Official crop reports largely attribute the rises to both an increase in workers and improvements in harvesting and irrigation methods, including partially automated field tilling machines developed by Sosuke Heavy Industrial, mandatory government review of irrigation systems, and the fact that Grand Chairman's Agricultural Guidebook was enforced more strictly this year. I would first like to announce that on December 26th, an election will take place to pick members of the first Imperial congress which will be officially formed on January 20th. The Imperial Congress will be a legislative branch of the government controlled by the people. I have voluntarily given up some of my powers to the Imperial congress such as the ability to declare war without anyone one else's approval and the power to dissolve any city government.This is the first step of the plan to slowly transition to a more democratic government. I now want to announce that on January 1st,

Refractory Coatings
& Structures

Through innovative CVD, Rhenaloy manufactures state-of-the-art refractory metal coatings and freestanding structures of tungsten, rhenium, tantalum, and platinum group metals. Extraordinary wear resilience.

High-Emittance Coatings

Rhenaloy manufactures three dimensional, radiative-emittance coatings, which expel heat at high temperatures and aid in temperature normalization. Normally joined to high-temperature components that should remain cool, the layerings may be modified to absorb radiative heat, as well.

Rhenium emmitance coatings are often utilized on the outer surfaces of rocket motors, in order to retain working temperatures on the inner walls and components. Cooler walls allow higher-temperature gases to be used for increased performance, and less extreme thermal expansion cycles increase motor lifespan.

For uses in highly reactive atmospheres, Rhenaloy’s hafnium carbide layering techniques, co-developed with Wolfride Integrated Productions, provide the best available oxidation protection, and high radiative emmitance. Initially developed for reentry shields in spacecraft, these ceramic coatings provide cooler temperatures than conventional carbide coatings.

Platinum Group Metals

Rhenaloy’s full coatings using the platinum group metals provide extraordinary protection of the base metal, against extremely oxidizing, reducing, and acidic environments, and retain their properties up to the melting point of said metal. These platings can provide protection enabling dozens of hours of use in the extreme conditions inside liquid rocket engines.

Iridium and iridium-tungsten coatings permit up to 900°C improvements in temperature of operation—as opposed to regular silicide ceramic coatings—in the unforgiving nitrogen tetroxide/monomethyl hydrazine environment of a combustion chamber. Iridium has been used, thanks to it's excellent oxidation resistance, in high temperature thermocouples as well.

Koba Satellite Constellation complete
Today the National Kolonian Space Agency launched the last of 8 rockets into elliptical orbits around Kerbin. These rockets all carried BM Class Communications satellites that are aiming to create a more reliable and Kolonian controlled network for existing satellites in orbit. At any given time, two of these satellites will be in direct line of site with Kolonia, ensuring that radio stations on the ground are able to keep in contact with the network.
Most of the network will be controlled by the Kolonian Government, with a large portion of that going to global military communications. Due to the nature of this subject no more details can be disclosed about the satellites or their military objectives. Below are details on the layout of the satellites in their orbits.

Pictured above is the layout of the satellite ring over Kerbin. On each line there are two satellites traveling in opposite directions to each other.

Above is a diagram of one of these lines. The two satellites cross near the North Pole, with their periapsis over Kolonia. Their orbital period is equal to 1 day, ensuring that the satellites always are closest to Kolonia.

Convoy Naval Escorts turn for home
In the late hours of the afternoon, the Admante turned back for home shores. The convoy it was escorting, SOC027, continues down south towards its destination. The defense ships will return home and will likely escort convoy SOC030 to continue with humanitarian relief aid in Ostreich. The Admante will then undergo minor refits in San Ricardo to install new Long Range Cruise Missile launchers.

Late Afternoon, December 19th

The four bulk carriers fought on through the seas, rising up and down as the waves gave their full force and showed the true power of the ocean. The sky was clear, and the equatorial weather did not fit in with the swells that kept hitting the boats. The captain of the Marianska assumed that they had reached near one of the seamounts in the open waters.

He scanned the horizon, searching for their incoming objective, now being picked up by the radar pinging them above.

A single helicopter, something reminiscent of the 70s, began approaching the bow of the hauler. The captain ran down and began sprinting through the side deck as a group of army personal surrounded the chopper.

The pilot, alone, stepped out and greeted the sailors.

"I'd assume you're "The Captain", yes?" The Kerbal said, his Ostreich accent giving away him immediately.

"And you're "Diplomat". Very nice to meet you sir."

"The joy is mutual. I have confirmed that the warlords around the inlet will support our cause. We can unify Ostreich once and for all!"

"I'll give the word to put us off radar. We'll save your people, Diplomat, and we'll supply your country for generations to come. Come with me, we have a great many things to talk about..."

Soon after, all four frieghters disappeared off conventional marine tracking. Naval command stations received: This is Kolonian Naval Convoy SOC027, we have been hijacked by Ostreich pirates. We request support from Kolonian command! Shutting co-

Unknown to the world, the four ships arrived silently to beaches and ports clustered in a small part of the West Ostreich coast. Kolonian Soldiers and workers began constructing temporary command sites, and the cargo crates opened one by one, giving the people weapons, food, and MiG-21s.

BARKADIAN EMERGENCY ANNOUCEMENT

Barkadia announces closing of borders with Kolonia and Nacija Slavia

Hello comrades of Barkadia and abroad. This is an emergency announcement. Ever since the creation of the CDN, we are truly surrounded by our greatest enemies. The two being Kolonia and Nacija Slavia. In order to ensure the security and continuing stability, we will now be closing off our borders completely with Kolonia and Slavia. Any person belonging to either nation will be allowed to stay, but once they leave, they can not come back, regardless of circumstances. Anyone from these nations that commits a crime will be instantly deported or tried in Barkadia, depending on the crime committed. It is also sad that we announce the beginning of regulations and restrictions on the border with Omni. We will stop any entry into Barkadia unless you are a natural born citizen of Omni and/or Barkadia. Any citizen that is not from Omni, Barkadia, or the Internationale and/or from Slavia or Kolonia will fall under the same rules imposed on natural Slavians or Kolonians.

Status of the Military

In hopefully happier news, the military is continuing to progress well in it's modernization. Operation Roots has begun in the center of the nation, with daily training in many fields of warfare has occurred. It seems that the tanks and other equipment we have received has quickly grown well on us. We hope we can use them well in any war that we ever get involved in and we hope we can stop any enemy dead in their winter boots. As the torch of the north we hold a special place on Kerbin like no other. It is our duty to protect what we have had for such a short time in our history. We are glad our comrades worldwide have gave us so much help in ensuring that we can.

Off the coast of Fyalzken Isle

A convoy of military ships tear up the waves off the coast of the far-away Blorbik Fyalzken Isle. Blorbik flags ripple in the unusually strong winds, perched above a number of different Blorbik seacraft. A large number of landing craft, with two thousand Kerbs in total, are a part of the convoy, accompanied by a smaller number of cruisers and battleships. Near the front, there is a single Blorbik Supercarrier leading the ships.

"This is it, Kerbs; Operation Safari." The commander pulls up the attack plan map on a projector.

"From here at Fyalzken, the convoy will continue on east, then south. Once we get near the south of Estrik [Ostreich], one-fourth of the convoy, and 1000 of the men, will split off down to the two Estrik [Ostreich] islands further south. The rest of the convoy will then itself split in half, particularly the landing craft. The second strike group will land further north in uncontrolled no-kerb's-land, eventually meeting up with the Barkadian operation in the east to form a single front."

Another high-ranking Blorbik officer speaks up from behind, "Once there, after taking control of the immediate area, further instructions will follow, and the fleet protecting you on your voyage will return to port here in Fyalzken. Good luck, and long live the revolution!"

"So this will be quite the trip, huh? To head from this cold city covered in snow to savannas in Ostreich? None of us have ever been in that sort of environment"

"Tell me about it Rootoff. This whole thing seems very exciting. I honestly can't wait to get there. It'll be like a vacation."

"I was thinking more of a safari. These are savannas."

"Whatever you want to call it."

The two men board one of the many ships about to be set out to Ostreich. They run into a man of a higher rank.

"Good morning sir. Are you ready to head out, same as us?"

"Obviously, soldier. I am ready for this Safari as much as anyone else is on this ship."

Rootoff smirks

"I told you it was a Safari."

"Whatever man."

The man from earlier comes back towards them

"To the deck! There is a briefing about to happen."

They walk up to the deck and stand at attention in one of many rows. An officer begins to talk on a platform

"SOLDIERS OF THE BARKADIAN ARMY! You stand here on this ship ready to embark on the first mission ever set afoot to foreign soil! And this is not any mission! It is a safari! You will bring revolution to the savannas of Ostreich! You will be tested by the heat, dryness, and the fighters! You are a virgin army! You have never been shot at, or have shot at enemies on a foreign or home soil! You have equipment no Barkadian has ever used before! Your tropical hats and short sleeved uniforms will be hard to adjust to, but you will get it down with time! Operation Heia Safari is a go! This is all have to say, soldiers. Get inside and get ready to ship out."

He steps off and heads inside, followed shortly by everyone else. Rootoff turns around as he walks in.

"This is going to be one hell of a Safari."

The ship along with several others leaves the port and begins to head south towards Ostreich.

Rojin Air Base, Hokubuhon

When the sun rose it pierced it's blade into the fog and dissolved it entirely. When the fog cleared multiple planes and military grade weapons became visible. Among the planes were 4 C-128 strategic lifters and and multiple requisitioned Cargo aircraft being filled with weapons and men. the most notable of the soldiers were the soldiers in the Task Force Black Sheep which were known for assisting rebel forces and going on high priority missions to other countries. The head of the task force Lieutenant Colonel Akida Kerman would be leading this expedition to Ostreich to assist democratic forces and to halt communist aggression. He turned to his men and spoke to them. "Men, you are the best of the best, today we will be heading to Ostreich. We will be assisting democratic forces and stopping the communist virus from infecting another nation. Some of you might not make it back alive, some of you will see things that will scar you. Even so, I still expect you to fulfill your task to the best extent. You are Task Force Black SHeep and you will always make it through! No man left behind and no mercy for the enemy!" The soldiers began to cheer and started boarding planes to head to the unstable land. The Anderian government is pleased to announce the signing of the Polar Protection Accords, a series of agreements between Anderia, Barkadia, Iblania, and Ablesh to cooperate in Arctic and Antarctic research, studies on the polar climate and ecosystem, and most importantly to us an agreement to not engage in any act of warfare that could cause damage to the polar ecosystem and the ice sheets and agreements to limit economic expeditions to seek out polar oil. We continue to extend our invitation to Nacija Slavia, and hope that this will help calm tensions in the north. We know that these agreements will bring nothing but more prosperity to the polar ecosystem and the nations that border it. We hope that similar agreements with other states will help us work towards international peace and closer relations with the involved nations.

Off the coast of Ostreich

A number of landing craft split off from the large convoy, holding its location off of the still coast. As they reach the beach, a number of soldiers march off, many carrying large boxes of supplies. Among the military equipment is also a vast haul of Humanitarian supplies and other materials intended to go to the locals.

"So this is it? Our stop?" A private questions his commanding officer, feet digging into the soft, warm sand, obviously having missed the briefing just two hours earlier.

"For us, yes. A quarter of the men, and two thirds the humanitarian supply, stop here."

"No combat?"

"That's the hope. Our plan is to give the aid to the locals and help them build up a commune in the area. Give them a taste of the life they never had."

"Do you really think they'll be receptive?"

"Klathu tell us that the locals and warlords in the south are rather receptive. I suppose they've been eyeing over the border with jealosy. Afraid I can't say the same much further north from here." He paused, clearing his throat. "We'll try and do the same that we're doing here for most of the south, though. There's at least a dozen areas we can probably convince rather easily, down in the south, especially if our first few are successful."

"Lets hope."

The Ostreich Situation
Today, under vote from the Council of Democratic Nations, the decision was made to restore order and freedom to the people of Ostreich. For too long have so many suffered since the collapse of the nation, and it is imperative that we act now.
Working with local Ostreich Democratic Forces, the CDN has become involved in the Ostreich, and will be working extensivly to restore the nation to the peaceful land it once was.
Included in this military support will be humanitarian supplies, including food, medical and safety equipment. Recovery programs to the local population will be in full swing in areas that the CDN is stationed in.

11:51 PM, December 22nd

President Michal shook hands with Axel Kerman for the last time, concluding the meeting that would set the course for Kolonian involvement in Ostreich and the future of the rising nation.

"Here are the plans, Axel. Excuse the haste, the situation around your nation has become to harsh to quickly. Tell your forces to prepare for combat. We're going to free your people and make your country whole again." On that note, the two leaders left the room, Michal escorting Axel off to the car that whisked him onto an Il-76 headed southbound.

He reread the note attached to the map over and over again. Communist Forces are expected to expand Northward through Ostreich to the said positions in red. We will cut off their expansion early and force them to either stop their advance or engage with CDN forces. We can get local populaces on our side as we have in the north. CDN Nations will help you and your people, Axel, just hold tight until the Calvary arrives.

Popular Republic Held Ostreich

An Anderian commissar stands out on the savanna. "Operation Safari huh?" He uses the binoculars to look at the make shift border currently bring patrolled. "Yes. Safari. A Barkadian idea I believe."
"I see. I trust we will see some proper military action in a few days."
"Yes, our plan will begin when the last shipments of materiel and other Anderian volunteers arrive. Tanks, guns, aircraft, all of it. Just remember, if anybody asks, there are no Anderian troops in Ostreich. We are all volunteers and observers. Especially like those Kolonian dogs are trying to contest our peacekeeping efforts."
"Opposing forces doing peacekeeping in the name of ideology? This really is a new cold war."
"Indeed. I'm going to talk to the men, and set up a perimeter. I've heard rumors of mercs coming in too, I want to get to the bottom of it as soon as possible."
"Of course, Major. I have no doubt that we will see victory in Ostreich with all of the Internationale's support for the popular front."
The Major walked off, and the Commissar lit a cigarette. At least he would have war stories for his kids, and he would make his nation proud. With the equatorial sun beating down on him, he went to find somewhere with a spot of shade. Safari, indeed.

Port somewhere in southeastern Ostreich

"Looks like we made it Rootoff."

"It feels like it too. This dry heat is something I have never felt before ever. Lack of pine trees too."

"Yeah, feels like a different planet."

"Hopefully we win soon, so we don't have to be here for long."

The officer from earlier steps on a small pallet.

"Soldiers! We have finally arrived in Ostreich! I understand your comments about this place. It feels just as alien to me as you. But we are not here to complain! We are here to change this country! You stand proud against the grasses of the savanna! This will be a test hard to pass, but a one worth passing. You are the hunters of the counter-revolutionaries. Each artillery piece and each rifle will carry Ostreich into a new era! Get your hats on boys! We're moving out now!"

He steps off and walks off the dock

"You know, we should just call him Officer Pallet."

"You know Rootoff, maybe you shouldn't say these kind of things, it might come back to you one day."

"Meh."

They walk off the dock

"Well, I suppose we should get our rifles and hats now."

"Mhm, we should. How else are we going to fight?"

They head to a small armory hastily set up and grab rifles and hats

"Rootoff, you look dumb in that hat."

"You too."

"Sorry, I think I actually look quite sexy."

They hear the officer in the distance

"Get with your squad leads! We're moving out now!"

Rootoff looks towards his friend

"Let's get going on the Heia Safari."

The Tutzing Islands, Southwest Ostreich Provinces

6:34 AM, December 22nd

Ferdinand Kerman climbed onto the back of the truck, looking at the thousands of Kerbals waiting for him to speak. One of his advisors passed a megaphone up and he turned it on and took a breath.

"My friends, my Islanders, it is time for us to act. In the years since the collapse of our dear monarchy, our country has fallen to those who wish only harm and suffering upon others. Today, as Kerbals united with our abilities, we will make them pay. We will free the dozens of our citizens the pirates captured. We will fight today, with everything we have, and we will end their reign of terror on the high seas once and for all."

He gestured to the ships waiting in the harbor.

"Crews, man your stations, we will win today! The Ostreich will remember what we did for all time! Nothing can stop us!" He put the megaphone down and started running towards the waiting Ironclad, a smile breaking out on his face as the Kerbals around him cheered and ran with him.

Ferdinand looked at the Ironclad sitting in its dock. Kerbals were scurrying around it moving crates and barrels into the ship. He boarded the ship and readied himself for the day ahead.

Climbing down into the depths of the ship Ferdinand shouted into the boiler room below "Get those bastards running, load the coal, get some steam going!" Ferdinand then climbed up once more to the slanted deck, screaming at the crews "all guns loaded! Prepare for combat, prepare for combat!"

Fueled by coal and their anger for revenge, the Ironclad, escorted by smaller fishing boats on both sides, heading north towards the mainland and towards those who has wronged them through the years before.

31 kilometers off the West Ostreich coast

1:03 PM, December 22nd

Ferdinand scanned the seas once more with the binoculars he'd gotten from the police station. Nothing from the pirates. He took in the salty ocean air, and overlooked their forces. The Ironclad steamed on, waves slapping the sides. Their friends in fishing boats with Maxim Guns waved at him. He smiled and waved back. Off in the distance, the fishing boat with the quad .50 Caliber guns sounded its horn.

Ferdinand raised his binoculars again. He saw them out, bobbing up and down in the waves.

A Kerbal with an RPG ran up to him. "Captain", he yelled, "there are 15 pirate craft ahead! Some have anti-tank guns on their decks! They're under three kilometers out!"

Ferdinand's pulse picked up as the sides began to engage with machine guns. The enemy loomed closer and closer and soon he saw the guns on the enemy ships open up.

"Man the guns, Now!" he yelled to anyone who could hear. Kerbals got the message and ran inside the ship to get to the guns, whilst some stayed on the deck and armed RPGs and ATGMs stolen from the Depo. Ferdinand watched as the .50s on friendly ships opened up, followed by the Maxim boats. One of the Maxim ships almost immediately took a round form one of the 45mms on the enemy boats, destroying it and killing its crew instantaneously.

"Make them fucking pay for that!" He screamed in pure anger. The Ironclad turned to the side. A broadside of 16 7 inch guns erupted, blasting two of the pirate's vessels away. The .50s met their mark at a similar time, piercing the fishing boats and tearing them to pieces along with their crews.

The next few minutes went by as salvo after salvo lobbed over the water from both sides. Friendly ships began vanishing under the waters, joining the pirates as the guns from the Ironclad lay waste to the opposition. The High Explosive rounds, never meant to counter anything of the like, were ineffective.

In a final 16 gun send off, the last Pirate ship exploded in a ball of fire and heat. The Ironclad's crew cheered for joy, shouting with happiness as they won the battle that they had needed too.

Ceremonies for the lost ships and their crews were held that night as the Ironclad made its turn towards the Ostreich and the pirates' old ports.

ODF Port, Central Ostreich

3:45PM, December 23rd

The day before had been a rush. Ferdinand encouraged the crew of the Ironclad to make a successful assault on the Pirates' headquarters, leading to the rescue of 31 hostages they had taken from the Tutzing Islands over the past months. They had been too late to save almost 40.

It was soon discovered that the ship would not have the range to make it back to the Tutzing Islands. With almost no other option, they decided that their only option was to make for a port in the North and hope that they would be friendly enough.

When the Ironclad arrived at Nienhagen, the crew was ready for a fierce battle. Instead, they were met with gazes of awe and wonder at the ship that should belong in a museum. The people they met at the docks were Kolonians, who had arrived in the hours earlier on a convoy heading south. Soon after they offered the Ironclad fuel, coal and ammunition for as long as they needed it, under the condition that they could get the Tutzing Islands on their side.

Ferdinand happily agreed. They began the voyage back to the Islands that evening, new friends in mind, and the hope to make it home by Christmas.

For too long they have suffered under the cruel jackboots of warlords and tyrants. For too long, they have gone without food, clean drinking water, even basic supplies, and that is before the local warlords come and snatch it all from their long suffering, long toiling hands. It is today, we return Ostreich's freedom! It is today we help them rise up from the ashes of their collapsed nation, and to set once more the stones and realign the pillars of freedom and democracy for all of Ostreich!

Following the council vote, Avellum is involved, effective immediately in humanitarian operations to ensure the Ostreich people. Alongside our close friends and allies in the international community we will be working together to free the people, to return them to prosperity, and act as a bulwark against the depredations of pirates and warlords before there is nothing left to save.

Outskirts of Prenzlau

"We have been walking for a really long time. Do you think we'll ever sit?"

"We're about to walk into a city. I think they'll give us a few hours to relax."

A gunshot echoes from a second story window in an apartment building. The bullet hits right in front of them.

"OH SHIT!"

They take cover behind a bench

"Where was that?! What's the bearing?!"

"No idea Rootoff. Just stay calm."

The people behind them quickly take cover

"Get the frag rounds!"

One of them loads a rocket and aims at the building

"CLEAR BACKBLAST!"

The rocket is fired and hits the wall behind the window

"He is definitely not shooting again."

Rootoff looks down the street to see fighters quickly taking positions

"DOWN THE STREET!"

Loud and rapid gunfire ensues

"Look! There's one in that window above the store!"

Rootoff takes aim and shoots him square in the chest

"Nice one!"

The fighting in the area goes on for several hours

"How many have you got?"

"I think like, I don't know, 10 maybe?"

"Nice, nice. Knowing me with my supreme marksmanship, I killed at least 500."

"You got one point higher than me in the test, asshole."

"Whatever. At least it seems to be calming down. I think we've secured this area now."

Rootoff shouts to the other Barkadians nearby

"HEY! ARE WE GOOD?"

"I think so. Get up and head down the street. Keep your head down."

As they walk down the street, a lone fighter takes a shot at them. He hits Rootoff's hat.

"Fuck!"

Rootoff's friend takes a shot and the fighter and hits him in the head

"Got him. I told you the hat didn't fit you."

"It only took a bullet to figure that out."

They see the officer down the street and head towards him

"You boys did well taking this area. Other forces have already taken much of the city. We expect to have every street and the outskirts within 2 hours."

"Can we relax now sir?"

"I think it's well deserved."

They take a seat on the curb

"So, we have Prenzlau now. What's next?"

"We will probably wait for reinforcements. We lost some guys in the battle. And there's always a chance that the CDN is sending guys to help factions as well."

"Very true."

"All I hope is that I don't die. That was a close call a few minutes ago."

"You know, for a safari, the only animals I've seen are the birds flying away from the gunshots. I hope we can see something cool."

"Depends if we advance out of this city."

"Depends if we live really."

The President stood at a podium in the city center of Iremel with 2 LoR 40t mbts flanking him along with a dozen other politicians and officers. He continued "If we had to do it differently at the time we would not have ceded over the Aquarius region of the peninsula over to Corgelian aggressors, we would have repelled the invasion with every man we had instead of surrendering sovereign territory to a foreign army. Recently Corgelia has made an alliance with Kerthenia allowing the capitalist nation to station troops on the border, we can not tolerate this action in any way, shape, or form. I personally request that all Kertenian troops leave the border." The President paused and took a little drink of water. He resumed his speech "The Senate will be requesting a referendum to Corgelian government on whether or not the Aquarius region should rejoin Mon Faira, it is up to the citizens in that region to make the right choice for their people." The president continued his speech for around 30 or so minutes on current relations with the Internationale and the CDN. This was followed by a moment of silence for the brave men and women who died for the defense of Mon Faira against the Corgelain invasion in 1958-1963.
