They have not yet noticed the Kyrantian volunteers lying in wait for them however.

Sunday the 20th of November 2016:

GI terrorists have struck two churches today. They hit a small church in a small dominantly Njengi village on the edge of Nyeupepwani province. The small loyalist Njengi militia on guard just in case being able to hold them off just long enough for most inside the church to flee. A number of the militia died in the process however, killing a number of GI terrorists in the process, but being outgunned.

The church itself took significant damage after a number of Molotov cocktails were hurled at it and used to set it alight.

The terrorist forces fled back into the jungles after police and military forces moved in to try take them out.

The second and more effective attack came in the capital city of Puertazul. Here a garbage truck was hijacked and its driver killed, before the truck was packed with explosives and driven into a relatively small church on the city outskirts. The truck drove clean over the small barricades that the local church goers had assembled around the church to try protect it and into the church. The crash killed the terrorist driving the truck, but a second terrorist in the truck detonated the explosives, killing himself, the nearby militia protecting the church and many of the church goers.

With many soldiers sent out of the capital and to the battle to retake the rebel held city of Puertoplátano, the attack was far more possible to pull off, with two cars stolen by terrorists and filled with several of them being able to drive past with AK47s and shoot a number of survivors before rushing off before police or soldiers could arrive, and vanishing away down a dirt road before being abandoned, the occupants scattering and being unable to be relocated.

Special Agent John -------, Green Group, GRA CTU

The Prisoner was in the chair, and he was bleeding bad. He kicked the man in his face and he fell to the ground. Soon after he put a rag over the Prisoners face and attached jumper cables to his chest. then he dumped water of the rag and turned on the jumper cables. After 30 seconds he stopped and pulled the chair back up.

"Are you ready to talk?" The Arcadian spoke. The Prisoner just spat in his face. The Arcadian wiped it away, and got some plyers and started pulling out some teeth. He pulled out 8 teeth and asked once again "Are you ready to talk!?!?" The prisoner said nothing.

Soon the Arcadian played some music and it was the song "Poker Face".

The Arcadian started ripping off some nails and yelling at the Prisoner to speak. The prisoner still said nothing. That is when he cut off the prisoners thumb and asked "Are you ready to speak now?" The prisoner still didnt speak. That is when the Arcadian pulled out a pistol and shot the man in his crotch and the prisoner started talking after he stopped yelling. They had gotten the location .

1st Special Forces Squad, PSP Camp
Corporal Farad Ibori

Ibori slowed down as he entered the camp. On the outside, he looked as if he had seen a mad kill himself a hundred times a day. But on the inside, he was horrified. He had seen death, he had seen fire, but never had he seen someone kill them self, just for tripping. He knew the other men in his squad where just as frazzled, even if they didn't look like it.

He understood that this was going to be his life, from know on. He would never be the same again. The squad was lucky enough to survive this confrontation without a scratch. But the six of them where bound to befall injury and death in the weeks, or even months to come.

Ibori walked to where they stored the weapons and dropped his haul, he had taken as many guns as he could and his back ached now. He decided to lie down and think. He took out the radio and played back the messages. The delivery of weapons would come shortly. Finally he wouldn't have to rely on this unbalanced hunting rifle. He had a small portion of soup Mama made and took walked to the edge of the camp to eat. When he finished his soup he began to think some more. He had a family back home, a wife and kids, but, he hardly saw them, but... He though of the mans bloody exploded head when he fell. He vomited, he tired to hide it and wipe his mouth.

He rallied the rest of the squad and they listened to the broadcast. They where to meet at the far north western edge of Kaskazinimwamba. The rocky coast was mostly uninhabited and provided good cover, they would sneak over and follow the signal beacon, then they would take the weapons stored in crates and carry them back to camp. They told Mwiba they would be leaving to pick up supplies and set out.

The ambush killed many of the insurgents straight out, but the remainder responded rapidly, highly strung from weeks of violence. One child soldier hurled his axe at a volunteer with surprising accuracy and speed, before drawing a machete and charging another while screaming. The Njengi farmer came storming out of the farmhouse with his shotgun raised and blasted a teenage insurgent in the chest, throwing the boy of about 16 off his feet and onto the hard ground, blood poring from deep holes in his chest as he slumped on the ground. The female insurgent raised her hunting rifle and shot the farmer in the chest as he made to reload, before turning her rifle on a volunteer while rapidly trying to reload.

The small force of insurgents were clearly outgunned and outmatched, but they fought on with an unrelenting ferocity. None of them intended to be taken captive, preferring death to that fate, and one of the fighters still standing hurled a Motolov cocktail towards one volunteer, trying to set the man alight.

OOC: I take it that is one of the prisoners from the cave behind the waterfall? Good. That is also more like it in terms of 'advanced interrogation'.

Lets have the location be another small cave higher up on the face of the dormant volcano of Mlimayamaisha in the province named for it, Mlimayamaisha province. By this stage there will probably only 8 fighters in that cave, which is mostly hidden by rocks and scree.

The fighters will be more experienced insurgent fighters, all in their twenties and thirties. They are not the sort to be captured or go down with a fight, or to be snuck up on. If the POW is there you will need to get as close as possible to the cave before being spotted (and you will be spotted) before attacking and move in as fast as possible to prevent them killing the POW rather than see him be recaptured (provided he is there).

These fighters would rather than die than be captured, and none of them will leave that cave alive. The main aim is just to ensure your POW, if he is there, does. If the POW is not there this trail will die with these fighters, and it may take weeks or months for a new one to be found.

Mwiba wished them the best of luck, and offered to send a young 18 year old Busetsu fighter, Kisu with them, as he grew up in the area and knew it well. She also offered to send Xipa, the Xama! poacher, with them, as Xipa could prove useful in spotting any potential ambushes.

3:57am - Monday the 21st of November 2016:

An unusually fierce storm is blowing in from the Indian Ocean and blowing headlong for the rebel held city of Puertoplátano. The storm will likely make loyalist attempts to retake the city difficult with the conditions limiting visibility for the navy and making the bombing attempts by the airforce more difficult than usual. It will also likely make infantry movements more difficult than usual. The rain could also help the rebels, who need water supplies for both drinking water and to clean the wounds on the injured.

The storm has begun to hit Puertoplátano.

Ibori shrugs,

Ibori: "Of course you may join us, perhaps your help will mean life and death, such journeys in this nation are unpredictable."

So they went off, the journey took them north, close to the edge of Mwinukomwamba and then towards the drop zone. Ibori prayed they woundn't be ambushed, but that was unlikely, most Rainbow Warriors probably didn't know about there expedition or where they where going. But the jungle was full of crazies from the loyalists to the terrorists. Hopefully this trip would be uneventful, but only time and luck would tell if they would be alone in the journey, or cross paths with those on another.

The 1st Special Forces Squad began to jokingly call themselves the Cirrus Warriors, since weather related names seemed to be popular in the ranks of the PSP.

MSG. Claire Wheeler, Aircorp, 4th Peacekeeping detachment

She sat down and looked down the hangar doors. They had the chemical warheads on the plane, and they were ready to go. They went in for a landing in the government airbase near the combat zone. The night hid thier flight in the cover of darkness and she put on her NVGs. When the plane landed Wheeler got up and helped the loyalist soldiers cart of the WMDs to the airbase. When the weapons were unloaded the hangar doors went up and the plane started to lift off.

Two child soldiers and a teenage insurgent of about 16 have been taken captive, the rest lie dead in the dirt. The ambush has been rather successful, and the family of the farmer inside remain safe. The farmer's wife has called in a report of the attack and a police car and ambulance are on their way, but it will be too late for the Njengi farmer. The medics will be able to treat the injured volunteers however, but they may need to be taken to a medical centre. The captives can be executed quietly now or else sent to a prison camp in the royal town of Mjiwamfalme. Given the separate loose war band combat style of the insurgents they will almost certainly not know where other insurgents are, but it may be more in line with the accepted the rules of war to not just execute them.

OOC: I'll make one soon. It will be more of a loose idea of it though, especially as most of the rebels fight in guerrilla war style rather than taking territory.

OOC: I was too busy to do this a while back, so let me do this now for a while back.

IC: Thursday the 17th of November 2016-
The day after the renewed attack on the rebel held city of Puertoplátano, loyalist media reported that the attack came in response to rebel forces breaking the unofficial ceasefire with loyalist forces by assassinating the ranking commander present, General Nzuri Takenda. General Daniel Mzarima, the second highest ranking commander present, took over the operation and drove off the assassins who had come to raid the loyalist camps before launching the all out attack on the city.

Rebel media has denied this however, and they argue that the loyalist forces themselves killed General Nzuri Takenda for his refusal to go ahead with the bombardment of the city after the air bombing of a civilian town by the Sevillian airforce and instead hoped to force the rebels into submission by merely cutting off their supplies and trying to force them to eventually relent, for allowing civilians to leave the city after being searched for weapons against orders from higher up, and for refusing to send loyalist forces in for an all out urban assault as he knew what a bloodbath it would be. Rebel media thus alleges the loyalists executed General Nzuri Takenda for disobedience and replaced him with the far more obedient General Daniel Mzarima, who sent soldiers into the city and resumed the bombardment after their advance was noticed and fired upon.

It is difficult to tell who is actually telling the truth here. It is true that General Nzuri Takenda has been known for his refusal to take certain orders in the past, and was respected by many rebels as "the most honourable General in the army of murderers". It is also true that General Nzuri Takenda was popular with his troops, and so openly removing him or executing him could cause some to revolt. That being said it seems a remarkably drastic move for the Kampiya regime to outright kill one of their top generals, and there is no firm evidence either that the did so or even that General Nzuri Takenda was disobeying orders in this case.

Regardless, the younger, more aggressive and more ambitious General Daniel Mzarima is now in command. The 51 year old is known for his loyalty to the regime, and some have stated that his loyalty has gotten him to his current position far more so than his ability. He is a clear change from the older and more cautious General Nzuri Takenda, who was 72 at the time of his death, was also known for occasionally refusing to obey orders from higher up the chain, but rose up regardless due to a good tactical and strategic mind.

4:08am - Tuesday the 22nd of November 2016:

After about 24 hours of persistent heavy rains, the storm over the rebel held city of Puertoplátano has started dissipating in ernest. The storm had blow inland but had steadily lost strength as it went over land, without water currents to aid it. The storm lasted longer than expected however and made loyalist attempts to retake the city of Puertoplátano difficult, with the conditions limiting visibility for the navy and grounding efforts by the airforce to bomb due to the risk of being struck lighting, extreme wind conditions and very limited visibility. It also made infantry movements more difficult than usual, forcing the loyalist military to slow their advance to try avoid ambushes due to limited visibility in the poring rain.

The fighting in the city is expected to resume now in full force again.

PSP Camp -> The Journey to the Drop Off, Cirrus Warriors
Corporal Farad Ibori

By staying off the roads the force would mostly avoid any military checkpoints, attempted ambushes or coming across criminals who may try rob them or civilians who may report them.

Large parts of Kaskazinimwamba province were considered part of the "Insurgent Zone". Ever since the loyalist airforce had swept through and firebombed the town of Kubwamti, before pushing south to try take back Puertoplátano, there had been a power vacuum in the province. FPRL rebels were commonplace, although well hidden, but as allies of the PSP were no real threat. Busetsu insurgents in the area were also relatively friendly with the group. The main threats in this area were unaligned crinimals, seeking food and money in the chaos, and a smattering of GI terrorist war bands that had come north to try exploit the chaos to raid and kidnap children to train as child soldiers.

On the route to the drop off point, the force came across a hijacking in process. A car had been stopped on the road by a false army checkpoint, a small group of what appeared to be GI terrorists seemingly having ambushed a loyalist patrol and having donned their uniforms. They had stopped the old battered down car as it went along a lesser used dirt road in a area of medium jungle, and were busy dragging the driver, a Busetsu man of about 30, his young wife out of the car. They had also removed the young couple's 5 year old son, three year old daughter and a 1 year old daughter. There appeared to only be about 5 terrorists present, an older commander of about 40, three men in the 20s, and a boy who looked 16. All were dressed in Loyalist military uniforms and armed with stolen AK47s.

Xipa quietly strung his bow and whispered quietly to Ibori "we can take them. I can take out the commander, Kisu can take out the boy, your gents can get the other three. Leave them dead and let the family go on their way. Quick and easy. What do you say?"

It would be a risk. If there were any more terrorists nearby they might spring, and if the family were caught elsewhere they could inform on a group coming through the area, especially if they were made to do so through violent means. The military may also be looking for them now after the attack on the weapon caches.

7:57am - Tuesday the 22nd of November 2016:

Loyalist media is reporting that a commercial airliner carrying 80 passengers and 5 crew has been shot down by FPRL rebels 16 kilometres south of the outskirts of the city of Mjiwadhahabu over Mlimayamaisha province. Tragically all 85 on board were killed. The plane was flying from the city of Ciudadelapalma to the capital city of Puertazul after being delayed due to some bad weather and taking an alternate route to try avoid flying over significant conflict zones. It was shot down as it began its decent as it moved in towards Puertazul.

Early responses from rebel media are that of denial, arguing that not only does the rebel group not have any reason to shoot down this plane, but that it was shot down over an area controlled by loyalist military forces. Rebel media are claiming that young new Njengi conscripts from Nyeupepwani province with the artillery there likely mistook it for an enemy plane, with rumours currently abound of Busetsu pilots disbanding and joining the rebels and of foreign planes sent by nations backing the FPRL entering Nchiyamengian airspace, even though these rumours have so far proven to be untrue. Rebel media allege that the tired, paranoid, inexperienced and possibly drunk young conscripts shot down the plane thinking it was a military observer one, and that the Kampiya regime is now trying to cover up their mistake by blaming it on the rebels, and using that as an excuse to ramp up their war effort.

It is unclear who is telling the truth here, if indeed either side is.

IC: As the trucks rounded yet another blind corner in the seemingly endless jungle several felled trees came into view, blocking the road. The trucks barely had time to screech to a halt before the attack began. RPGs were fired at fairly close range from behind a rock about 20 meters from the road up an embankment. The RPGS were aimed at the drivers of the trucks, aimed to kill them and prevent any manoeuvring. Prepared for the attack well in advance and with the element of surprise, this phase went off without a hitch. The drivers were in pieces and the fronts of the trucks on fire in mere seconds.

The rapid force of the blast from one RPG was so extreme, and the corner that had been taken so sharp that the body of one of the trucks, the one carrying Lt. Nabila al-Rashid, was sharply unbalanced, flipped on its side and crashed to the ground, throwing about its occupants.

Gunfire opened up from the cover of the trees and brush from both sides of the road both ahead and behind the trucks, intended both as suppressing fire and to take out anyone who would dare to fight back. Several of the Nchiyamengian soldiers, those not in the upturned truck disorientated by the fall, were brave or stupid enough to do so.

A force of GI fighters swept in on the trucks to take prisoners, mostly the expendable child soldiers. A six year old carrying an AK47 far too large for him took a bullet to the head from a special forces soldier, and his small body dropped to the ground. A nine year old child soldier fired in return, screaming as he did so, his aim surprisingly good, hitting the soldier in his right arm and his left leg. As the soldier went down another child soldier of about 11 ran up around the truck to take him out, only to fall to a last shot fired by the soldier from his handgun. Attacked from both sides the soldier was dead in mere moments however, along with a number of others. A handful of child soldier bodies and one or two of teenage fighters also dead on the road.

A teenage fighter ran up and threw a tear gas canister stolen from a dead policeman into the overturned truck. The thick foul smelling gas burned the skin, and caused those inside to cough violently and gasp for air. It burnt their eyes and caused them to blindly stagger, eyes watering, out into the open. Rapidly the forces were moving in, aiming to take prisoners. In the violence and chaos, particularly with the trigger happy child soldiers, it was unclear just how many prisoners could actually be gathered amongst the dead.

A handful of the special forces staged a last stand, but severely outgunned from all sides and exposed they died in moments, one of the injured ones shooting himself with a handgun rather than being captured, knowing what fate awaited the rest.

OOC: Right now you can do you side of the story, and document how many of your soldiers remain alive for capture. It can just be Lt. Nabila al-Rashid or it can be more.

Cpl. Jacques Balladur, On the Road:

Oh, the irony.

The First Green Union Archer Regiment, the fruit of over 2,000 years of elite fighting traditions. The result of over 500 years honing of guerrilla fighting tactics. This was the force that an enemy general in 1761 reported “This enemy has the power to turn into the trees themselves. They are harder to hunt than a pack of wolves.” And now it was the force that was being ambushed.

Bullets shredded the canvas of the trucks, dropping more than one soldier before they knew what was happening. The ukulele music quickly ceased, replaced by yells of surprise and screams of pain. Soldiers hit the metal floor, some because they had been killed and some because they did not want to be killed, while others scrambled to dismount the trucks.

Jacques bounded over his fellow soldiers, leaping out the back of the truck and flattening himself against the road behind the cover of the truck all in one motion. The act knocked all the wind out of his lungs, but it was better than the alternative that would surely befall him should he be caught in the open. Then again, once he was down it became obvious the magnitude of the situation.

The GI covering fire kicked up dirt all around Jacques, making it impossible to see where it was coming from. Enemy fighters swarmed the convoy, tossing grenades and Molotov cocktails and just all round slaughtering everyone. The ground was already littered with the dead and dying, a good number of the bodies burning from the fires that were breaking out. Oh, and Jacques had been shot in the torso twice by now, but that seemed like a minor detail at the time.

But there was a fundamental problem with the GI fighters’ tactics. Child soldiers ran straight up to the trucks and the special forces soldiers in the open, in some cases trying to clamber into the backs of the vehicles and drag out the occupants inside. This not only inhibited covering fire for fear of hitting their allies, but also caused the child soldiers and other expendable fighters to suffer close combat with Green Union special forces. For the first time in their lives the totally overkill amounts of bayonet training actually paid off.

In seconds the special forces were rallying. The Nchiyamengian GI hunting ‘Death Heads,’ the LAF First Green Union Archer Regiment, even the Sevevillian Atlas operatives that were with them were dismounting the trucks. The child soldiers were driven back from the trucks, and grenades shredded the undergrowth from where the GI fighters were firing. ”Perhaps,” Jacques thought, ”some of us will even survive this.”

But such things were wishful thinking. The GI had every advantage. They had the cover, the flank, the numbers, and the surprise. In seconds any shooting back at the insurgents had all but ceased, it being all Jacques could do to drag himself off the road and into the undergrowth during the last moments of the confusion. If he wasn’t spotted, or killed by stray fire, if he wasn’t forced to return to the fight to try to save prisoners, if he didn’t bleed out before help arrived . . . he might make it.

Best odds he’d had all day.

Lt. Nabila al-Rashid, On the Road:

Nabila awoke, coughing and spluttering, her eyes and lungs seemingly on fire. Gunfire snapped off like a hailstorm just outside, only adding to the confusion. A mass of bodies was moving over and under Nabila; shouting, coughing, and clawing towards an exit.

Lt. al-Rashid tried to look around, but her eyes may as well have been gouged out of her head. There were screams, some of which may have been hers, and she desperately scrambled for her canteen, dumping the contents over her face and into her mouth to douse some of the pain. Her vision began to clear, if only for a moment, and Nabila noticed that the right of her vision was obscured by a single rebellious lock of dark hair that must have come free during the rollover. She instinctively tucked the hair back into her hijab, without thinking running her hand over the cloth to ensure her headwear was still intact.

It was only then that the world started to take on some kind of focus. She was still in the truck, which had overturned in the initial onslaught by unseen insurgents. That much she remembered, and looking around it seemed like the roll bars had kept the passengers, including herself, from being flattened. Now the survivors were trying to clamber out of the vehicle, which was rapidly filling with noxious fumes. ’Tear gas,’ Nabila noted, ’the bastards are using tear gas on us.’

This in itself wasn’t a huge problem. After all, most of the LAF war games involve full open combat between teams fully equipped for crowd control, including full riot gear, water cannons, rubber bullets, flash grenades . . . and of course, tear gas. That didn’t mean Lt. al-Rashid was less effected of course, but at least she knew what to expect. Being hit with the stuff at unawares, however, while probably suffering from a concussion and broken bones, was far from ‘knowing what to expect.’

The Loyalist Lieutenant crawled to the canvas top (now, through the magic of gravity, the side) of the truck, her eyes beginning once again to tear up and her lungs burn all the more. There she managed to keep enough of a mind to draw her survival knife and begin hacking desperately at the thin covering. Anything would be better than being stuck in this gas filled box, surrounded by the dead and dying and tortured souls.

Or, well, almost anything. As Nabila dragged herself out of the burning and gas filled wreck of the truck, flopping onto the ground to suck in the sweet smell of smoke and less saturated with tear gas air, she became aware of bodies moving around her. She looked up just as rough hands seized her, her handgun knocked from her hands. One of the insurgents struck her in the head with the butt of a rifle, and the world went black.

OOC: Seeing as how there are soldiers from Sevevill here, I think it's fair to let Sevevill write something too before proceeding.

Also, I would prefer if only Lt. al-Rashid is taken captive, but I can't allow my other three primary characters (Balladur, McTavish, Brayfield) to just up and die. I also am going to be making another character that will survive so that I can focus on the story of those four in Nchiyamengi. Maybe they hide. Maybe they are taken captive but escape . . . we'll soon decide. But I just want it known that I can't have those characters dying just yet.

The Cirrus Warriors, Journey to the Drop Zone, Nchiyamengi
Corporal Ibori

Ibori looked that the terrorists, then the family they where capturing, then his own squad members. His squads guns where already at the ready to save those innocents. They would do it,

Ibori: So, we must be quiet, if we all fire at the same time, and with good accuracy, we will win the battle almost immediately. But, these guns are not accurate, what about the family? What if we hit them?

The squad members thought about it. Perhaps if they let a shot ring pointed up, the family would duck instinctively while the terrorists would try to find them. But then though, it would be to late. They would be killed quickly by the shots fired right after the first one. They gave that plan as their part of the brain storm and waited for the Rainbow Warriors for their plan.

To the surprise of much of The Green Union's Parliamentary government and populace, the Calen Royal Family (the royal family of The Green Union) has announced that it will be going ahead with and even expanding upon the planned meeting with representatives of the Njengi and Buetsu protesters to discuss the ending of violence in Kusinimwapwani province. After the destruction of much of the organization of the Buetsu forces during the so-called Battle of the Flag the meeting had widely been considered null, but now it has been announced that the meeting will go forward within the confines of Aramîr Palace in northern Duckland in the form of a meeting to collectively decide how to end the violence in Nchiyamengi as quickly and effectively as possible.

Any 'significant belligerents' in the civil war that can more or less agree on a small delegation to represent their collective interests are welcome to apply to take part in the talks. The groups that have received express invitations are:

Unión Patriótica (UP)
Partido Conservador de África Oriental Lyserio (PCAOL)
Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL)
Movimiento Socialista Islámica (MSI)
Partido Socialista Progresista (PSP)
Partido Liberal Democrático (PLD)

Buetsu Nationalists
Njengi Royal Family
Guerreros del Islam (GI) has even received an invitation, a contriversial decision to say the least
