The squad quietly discussed about the raid. They agreed that they would be devoting their lives to this cause if they where to continue. They took a vote and unanimously agreed to help the cause with their expertise. They then told Mama that they where prepared to fight and die for the cause. As all of the soldiers where immigrants to Albatan from oppressed African nations, they where no stranger to the need for revolution and a progressive democracy.

The troops, who began to call themselves the Cirrus Warriors, armed themselves with hunting rifles preferring accuracy over fire power. Corporal Ibori also took a pistol and Private Jengo even asked for one of the machetes. They then radioed a small report and a request for a weapons drop in heavy encryption back to the Special Forces command. The command was unique as it was the only military branch separate from the government. This was so that they could execute missions without approval, and their intelligence and records could not be accessed by the public, like most other military documents.

"Attention!" she yelled as she looked at her squad of scout snipers. Many of them were young and just our of Sniper school. They all stood at full attention as she walked by and she inspected thier bunks and lockers. After she did she told them to gear up because they would scout out a small town with loyalist forces. her 12 man team was going to get the job done. they would await loyalist activation soon.

Kazier, Arstotzka
Supreme Leader's Palace

As they were brought into the room, Supreme Leader Konstantin Markov sat at the head of the meeting room table. He stood up, walking over to the Nchiyamengi delegation; shaking their hands, welcoming them. The Supreme Leader motioned for them to sit, and sat himself back at the head of the table. General Petroski sat to his left. Konstantin looked over the delegation, a wide smile on his face. It was full of warmth and welcomeness; as if meeting old friends. However, it also held... ambition, and an alternative agenda behind his face.

"Welcome, Mr. Tapyaro and other members of the Nchiyamengi Delegation. I am Supreme Leader Konstantin Markov. Welcome to Arstotzka. I am told you need support to destroy the disgusting Kampiya Regime, and overthrow it so that you can establish a new, socialist republic, yes? Well, my friends, I will be happy to help. I have many battle tanks, artillery machines, small arms and weapons... even air support, if you need it. I can even send troops to help, if you like. Just name it and I shall provide it, as Arstotzka is a mighty nation! All I ask in return is for free trade to exist between our nations, once all is said and done. Perhaps even a military alliance.", Markov said, still smiling. He waited for Tapyaro's response.
"Glory to Arstotzka!"

Sevevill is also urging other coalition nations to do the same.

The Sevevill Airforce remains leaveing 20 pilots and 20 planes in contrey. All Sevevill flags and logos have been removed. The family's have been told they are on a undercover mission for the govrnment. A steady inflow of guns, planes and weapons will continue to enter the contrey.

Protestors throughout Nchiyamengi have celebrated the withdrawal of the Sevillian troops and assets from the Republic. The protestors have taken this as a victory for them and a step towards defeating the Kampiya regime. In the cities of Puertazul, Mjiwadhahabu and Ciudadelapalma protestors have cheered and held street parties, and have flown the flag that is fast becoming the protester and rebel alternate to the national flag.

The UP supporters who pushed for their removal meanwhile are using it as an argument to say that the Kampiya regime does listen to and represent the people.

The government has remained silent on the matter, but a classified message has been delivered to the leader of Sevill.

The Grande Republic 0f Arcadia wrote:Lt. Morris Joseph, 4th Coalition peace keeping detachment

The UH-60 flew over head as the CH-47s flew past. Morris pushed through the under brush of the jungle with his team. They had got word that one of the rebel commanders that attacked the GRA convoy was hiding here. GRA fighters were dropping Napalm and agent orange on the rebel base so they had gas masks on. The clutched is XM-8 rifle and continued on. They needed to get to the rebel base now.

OOC: For this one you will have been working with the Ministry of National Security, as that is the only way you would have found a rebel base this soon on.

IC: Agent Brown and his agents put on their own gas masks, along with the detachment of special forces with him. Armed with AK47s they stood steady, holding the line. Firing wildly could end up killing fighters who had valuable information. Once the Napalm and Agent Orange had been dropped, a tad overzealous but certainly capable of scattering the small force of insurgents. Pointing their guns at those fleeing they ordered them down on the ground, shooting dead any who drew weapons on them.

Agent Brown was a tall, dark, rough looking Njengi man with wild and unkept curly black hair and an unruly black beard. He had a calm and steady demeanour and never seemed to be ruffled by anything, be it a fellow soldier dying next to him or an enemy soldier burring to death in front of him. He had all the hallmarks of a sociopath.

Moving in with the Arcadian forces they rapidly took the now smouldering base, the heat from the fires scalding, and the screams of burring insurgents deafening, shooting dead insurgents running about on fire. One special forces soldier dropped dead, and three fell to bullets to their arms or legs from a few insurgents still firing back.

They moved on the main building, which had strategically not been bombed to keep the leader alive and threw a tear gas canister in to smoke him and any others out, standing by the doors with guns ready. As the fighters came staggering out hacking and coughing clutching their eyes, blinded with pain, the soldiers took them down one by one. A handful remained inside, firing blindly and wildly and hitting one special forces soldier in the leg.

"Wait for them to run out" ordered Agent Brown calmly. The soldiers waited until the bullets had ceased to fire and them moved in, dragging out the kicking and screaming insurgents, blinded by the teargas and coughing violently. One dragged out the body of an older man of about 50. "The leader it seems" said the man. "Looks like he shot himself in the mouth rather than be captured". "God fucking dammit!" swore the special forces commander. Agent Brown was much calmer. He knelt down and closed the eyes of the old man gently and said "man had some sense, he knew what was coming otherwise".

Some insurgents had fled into the jungle, but about 37 were dead, including several child soldiers, from either the napalm attack and the gunfire. 17 had been captured, including 3 child soldiers under 13 and 4 teenagers. The missing Arcadian soldier, as expected, was not in this camp.

"Right" said Agent Brown calmly, "let us get these gentlemen back to the Ministry of National Security, back to Agent Black and Agent White. If they know anything about your missing soldier, Black and White will get it out of them".

OOC: You can here briefly do your part of the raid, and then do the arrival of the prisoners back to the Ministry of National Security in Puertazul. Then you can choose to sit in on the "information extraction" process if you want to. Agent Black and Agent White are the Ministry's top agents in that regard, mostly because they use completely different strategies.

OOC: Lets not go around offering you straight out providing air support or military forces. That is not realistic in terms of a civil war in a medium sized African island nation.

IC: Miguel Tapyaro handed over the gift of the Cuban Cigars in the varnished oak box to the Supreme leader as a token of the friendship between the two parties and greater him warmly, before he and his delegation took their seats.

Tapyaro listened to the proposal and then spoke. "Thank you so much for you generous offer Supreme Leader Markov. Tanks, small arms and the like would be invaluable. If you smuggle them into the nation we will put them to good use putting an end to the atrocious Kampiya regime. The power of the regime unravels daily, and soon we shall bring it down permanently. Of course we would be delighted to engage in a prosperous trade agreement that would bring prosperity to both our great nations and strengthen our alliance. Once we take power we will of course have you right by the top of our list of nations to establish this new trade with".

Tapyaro hesitated a moment and then went on to say "in terms of a military alliance that may prove a little more difficult. We would have to see how the other parties in a post-regime multiparty Nchiyamengi felt. After decades of war some may be less than happy to do so, and may rather want to focus on creating stability and peace in the nation first. I am not ruling out such a military alliance, and the offer is a true and great honour, I would just rather not make a promise now that I do not know I can deliver on. Perhaps we should table that for now and return to that once the regime has been overthrown and the situation stabilised? is this acceptable?"

"Anything further supreme leader?" asked Tapyaro

Thursday the 17th of November 2016:

The battle in the rebel held city of Puertoplátano continues. The battle started in the dying minutes of last night just before midnight, with loyalist forces trying to sneak into the city and being fired upon by rebel forces.

From there the loyalists launched a bloody all out assault, having their ground forces and tanks attack from land while the navy opened up fire from the sea, and even had some marines land on the beaches and attack from there, while the airforce flew over and bombarded the city. Rebels have fought back just as violently, using SAMs to shoot down now a total of 14 planes, RPGs and Motolov cocktails and mines to destroy 4 tanks, around 28 trucks and armoured vehicles and blew up 7 landing craft and their marine occupants before they could get to the beach.

The loyalists are slowly taking back the outskirts of the city, and have established a beach head allowing more marines to land, seizing back the port and much of the beachfront (which has been devastated by the naval bombardment. It is unclear how many soldier s the attack has cost them however, with the military and loyalist media tight lipped about the matter, although estimates place the number dead anywhere between 200 (by independent investigators) to 500 (by more reliable rebel media) to 2000 (by more propaganda prone rebel media).

Upon Marc's approach however the captain said a last word of comfort "we will always be here for you María, if you need anything, we will be here for you" and gave her hand a last pat. He nodded at Marc as he rose, and he looked exhausted and saddened. There was something of defiance still in him however, a look that said he today had tried to break him, and that he had gotten back up and told the day to go fuck itself.

Inside the Najambe's neighbours had come to help, they were inside with her daughters. María sat outside, seemingly unable to go back inside right now, just staring forward.

María looked up gently at the soldier. She seemed at a loss for words, but offered him the seat Capitán Mazati had just vacated, pulling it back slightly. She was silent, seemingly unable to say anything to break the silence.

What could he say? What words could lessen such grief? If this was a Hollywood movie he would remind María that because of her husband’s death two young children has lived. But who was he (and who were they) to weigh the value of human life? It was not his place to confirm what he had always felt to be true of the lives of soldiers.

Because after all, given the choice between the death of a soldier and the death of a civilian, would not anyone choose the soldier? Is not the definition of a soldier to be one that dies in the place of a civilian? Are soldiers even people, or just spare lives?

No, such words were not necessary. But there were some that he needed to say. Marc had known grief before, and he knew that the words he was about to say only hurt more. But this was different than a person who knew nothing apologizing for a grief. Diego Najambe’s blood was on his Marc’s hands, not in his body where it was meant to be, and it was for that reason that the blood was on him both literally and metaphorically, as if he had fired the gun himself. For the second time in his life Marc was, in his own mind at least, actually responsible for the death of a friend. The first time he had pulled the trigger. Now, the second time, his guilt was far worse.

“I’m sorry,” Marc said at length, “I didn’t save him.”

Not failed to save him, not couldn’t save him. Marc didn’t save him.

There was no more explanation needed. The blood on his clothes, his hands still greasy with it, said enough. Marc didn’t dare take María’s hand, couldn’t attempt a pat of comfort, with those hands. To simply be there, to not leave yet, was as much as he could do. Perhaps María would cry some more, perhaps she would yell at him. That was okay. He couldn’t offer her support the way Capitán Mazati had. He could not offer her friendship. He could only be there now.

María sat very still, for what seemed like an eternity. She seemed to be slowly processing what had happened, and the apology along with it. She stared ahead in silence. At length she slowly turned her head to face Marc and looked at him with her eyes, still wet with tears. "It wasn't your fault, there was nothing you could do" she said. Her voice was surprisingly calm and steady, but it had a hollow texture, that of someone for whom life suddenly meant far less.

After a long pause she said "my father died when I was a little girl. He was a soldier too. We was killed by a FPRL ambush shortly after Kampiya took control. I remember one of the soldiers under his command breaking down in front of my mother, apologising for not doing more. My mother told him there was nothing he could have done. That the war had killed him, not his inability to move faster. I was very long but that stuck with me. I remembered it every time he went out on a patrol or a mission. I remembered it when I introduced him to my mother. I remembered it on our wedding night. I don't think I truly knew what it meant until tonight".

She reached out and put her hand on Marc's hand and looked at him directly in the eyes. "It wasn't your fault" she said.

After another long moment she asked "would you like some tea?"

OOC: I think we can conclude this storyline here.

It is the judgement of the leadership of Nchiyamengi that it would be best in these tense times for Sevillian forces to remain outside of the Republic as much as possible. The Loyalist forces in Nchiyamengi, as far as I am aware, are not suffering from compromising issues of credibility. Though the aid coalition has been largely crippled through high level dealings not brought to light for the peoples' benefit, the solution is to work harder in the humanitarian sector in reform and a revamped mission, not less.

Meanwhile, the Loyalist forces in the joint special forces team our government sees no need in withdrawing. Our combined force is currently contributing positively to the fight against the so-called GI, a worthy cause that has not caused any civilian protests in Nchiyamengi.

We do hope you will consider continuing to aid us in this worthy mission.

The trucks carrying the hunter teams will go just north of there to a Special Forces base in the south of Mwinukomwamba Province. You will be working with Comandante Heri Msombe, a 52 year old veteran of the civil war, who used to be a child soldier in the rebel army of the UP before they seized power of the country. His battalion, the Kifo Vichwa ("Death Heads") have a reputation for brutality against enemies and prisoners, and have been sent to deal with the GI. It is rumoured they helped with the attack on the FPRL headquarters, but this is unconfirmed. They wear a skull and crossbones insignia on their formal non-combat outfits.

The observers will remain with Third Platoon and can push south into Mitiyakijani Province to observe the destruction there, or they can engage in a safer activity and push south east and observe the situation in the city of Mjiwadhahabu in Mlimayamaisha province.

Either way, the officers of the observers remaining have been invited to attend a super at the house of Teniente Najambe where he has invited them to meet his wife and daughters and enjoy some good Nchiyamengian food before you head off. The other officers from the other groups can also come for the visit before they leave if they want to.

Lt. Nabila al-Rashid, On The Road, Weeks Earlier:

Pro tip: If you're looking for some fun folks to share a road trip with, go to The Green Union and buy a couple Loyalists a drink. If you're looking for professional soldiers to navigate through insurgent filled jungles in canvas covered trucks, on the other hand . . . meh.

Naturally, the convoy stopped four times before even leaving the capital; Once to visit a local restaurant, twice to help civilians in the ruined areas of the slums look for personal belongings, and once more to take selfies with an overzealous homemade propaganda poster involving Presidente Marcos Kampiya. That in itself would have probably left the truck drivers pretty disgruntled with their armed tourists, but the troops had been sure to snag some takeout at the restaurant for them. As per the standard rules of humanity, food buys allegiance.

Now the trucks full of The Green Union's finest bounced from pothole to pothole over the decrepit road, the maroon flag above each truck whipping to and fro. And the Loyalists sang as they drove, as the customs of The Green Union are to sing when . . . pretty much always, actually. Nabila could even hear some guy in the first truck playing a ukulele. Who brings a ukulele on campaign? Soldiers from The Green Union, evidently.

As the soldiers launched into yet another impromptu of Drunken Sailor Nabila could only laugh at the thought of what the solemn Atlas soldiers in the leading trucks were thinking right now.

OOC: And that brings us to present day. Lt. Nabila al-Rashid will be the soldier who is captured in an incident with the GI. Essentially I was aiming for a worst possible person to be in GI hands. You can initiate the incident where she is taken whenever you want.

OOC: I'm not OP, but Nchiyamengi seems to be treating this incident as open. Here's a response to a question like yours:

Special Agent "Carter"

Carter walked to the interrogation room and he ordered the Arcadian Soldiers to march them to the convoy which would get them on an Arcadian Prison transport to site 51 for more 'advanced interrogation' methods. Some POWs were going to stay here and some were already enroute to the plane, he was just doing a mop up. A small protest had started outside ,but nothing much, only fringe groups right now believed of the chemical weapons 'myth' and they were already working on a plan saying outside communist forces gave the rebels chemical weapons and used them then to blame the loyalist of thier uses.

In that case I'll give it a go I guess.

The Federation of Eastern Ukraine is willing to offer Kampiya food and military aid (with accompanying trainers) in exchange for focusing on the socialist rebels, good old money and as a way to field test some new equipment (such as the export model T-84T MBT and BMP-64 heavy IFV).
Presently 10 T-84Ts and 5 BMP-64s (and many small arms) are available to be sent but if the trade goes well then additional equipment can be provided.

OOC: this is my first RP so I'll try not to be a pleb, also this got me off my ass to update my factbook so that's nice.

OOC: She (I'm assuming it is a she) certainly is. Let us engage in this then.

IC: As the trucks rounded yet another blind corner in the seemingly endless jungle several felled trees came into view, blocking the road. The trucks barely had time to screech to a halt before the attack began. RPGs were fired at fairly close range from behind a rock about 20 meters from the road up an embankment. The RPGS were aimed at the drivers of the trucks, aimed to kill them and prevent any manoeuvring. Prepared for the attack well in advance and with the element of surprise, this phase went off without a hitch. The drivers were in pieces and the fronts of the trucks on fire in mere seconds.

The rapid force of the blast from one RPG was so extreme, and the corner that had been taken so sharp that the body of one of the trucks, the one carrying Lt. Nabila al-Rashid, was sharply unbalanced, flipped on its side and crashed to the ground, throwing about its occupants.

Gunfire opened up from the cover of the trees and brush from both sides of the road both ahead and behind the trucks, intended both as suppressing fire and to take out anyone who would dare to fight back. Several of the Nchiyamengian soldiers, those not in the upturned truck disorientated by the fall, were brave or stupid enough to do so.

A force of GI fighters swept in on the trucks to take prisoners, mostly the expendable child soldiers. A six year old carrying an AK47 far too large for him took a bullet to the head from a special forces soldier, and his small body dropped to the ground. A nine year old child soldier fired in return, screaming as he did so, his aim surprisingly good, hitting the soldier in his right arm and his left leg. As the soldier went down another child soldier of about 11 ran up around the truck to take him out, only to fall to a last shot fired by the soldier from his handgun. Attacked from both sides the soldier was dead in mere moments however, along with a number of others. A handful of child soldier bodies and one or two of teenage fighters also dead on the road.

A teenage fighter ran up and threw a tear gas canister stolen from a dead policeman into the overturned truck. The thick foul smelling gas burned the skin, and caused those inside to cough violently and gasp for air. It burnt their eyes and caused them to blindly stagger, eyes watering, out into the open. Rapidly the forces were moving in, aiming to take prisoners. In the violence and chaos, particularly with the trigger happy child soldiers, it was unclear just how many prisoners could actually be gathered amongst the dead.

A handful of the special forces staged a last stand, but severely outgunned from all sides and exposed they died in moments, one of the injured ones shooting himself with a handgun rather than being captured, knowing what fate awaited the rest.

OOC: Right now you can do you side of the story, and document how many of your soldiers remain alive for capture. It can just be Lt. Nabila al-Rashid or it can be more.

OOC: I take it those are forces in your own land?

You can accompany the prisoners taken in Nchiyamengi to the Ministry of National Security, and you can observe, and if you want to take part in the 'advanced interrogation' (Agent Black may have a use for you), but as Nchiyamengians on Nchiyamengian soil in a mission by the Ministry of National Security the prisoners are their property now, which is bad news for them.

The Kampiya regime is happy with this deal provided they are given a discount for the arms in return for field testing the new equipment and focusing on the socialist rebels. They have also offered favouring Eastern Ukrainian companies in getting mining contacts in Nchiyamengi, and so putting them up the list in getting the contracts above countries that haven't supported the regime in the civil war.

The Federation of Eastern Ukraine finds this arrangement satisfactory and agree to the discount and mining contacts. The supplies are being prepared at this moment for transport.
