Kolonel Gaadaafi stood on the ramparts of Solitudes Walls. Many weeks ago, he and his Vloot-Voetvolk Soldiers had arrived here on the un claimed island to establish a colony and trade post. Since then, the colonists have built a prosperous little town. The large woods of the island gave the colonists a near endless supply of Wood, and they also provided another valuable resource.
Furs.
The Islands woods were inhabited many species of Foxes, Rabbits, Beavers, Deer and Elk, Bears, and many other creatures. The Colonists, hunting with their bolt action rifles, were able to amass quite a bounty of Furs, which they shipped back to The Traansval in exchange for gold from the East Empire Company.
But, the true treasure of the Island came in its climate. It was not hot and barren like the Traansval was, it was mild and somewhat cool. This gave Governor Smith a perfect idea, that would lead to the greatness of the colony.
They would plant Tobacco. Already, the farmers of the colony began to plant the seeds of this Cash Crop in their fields. Within a few months, the plant would be ready to harvest and the colonists would be able to sell the crop to the East Empire Company.
So far, the colonists had made no contact with the Romans, who inhabited the majority of the Tamir Continent. They wished to trade with the mighty empire, but if need be the Vloot-Voetvolk soldiers were ready to fight...
The Romans had caught wind of the little foreign colony of Boers and, given the recent news of the Boer alliance with Manticore, the Roman military had sent a force to occupy the colony. A single legion, 6,706 officers and men, alongside Classis Pannonica's 42 steam and sail ships were sent to the island and landed in the Bay of Hafingar. The fleet remained in a blockade force while Legio XXIV marched to the walls and made camp. Legate Gaius Laelius demanded entry to the city and the surrender of the population.
The Bay of Hafingar
Tamir Continent
Kolonel Gaadaafi and Governor Smith stood on the wood and stone ramparts of Solitude. A mile or so from the city, smoke could be seen rising from a encampment of Romans.
The Boers had hoped to establish Friendly or Neutral relations with the Romans, but it was obvious this would not happen.
The Boers were surrounded, the Romans had a smaller land force, but they had complete control of the River and the Bay.
Still, Boers are pig head people.
In response to the Romans, the Boers loaded a dead pig into makeshift catipult, and launched it at the Roman encampment.
On the pig, was a note stuck into it with a Krag Bayonet
Suck my Nuts!
