Rannoria wrote:The Senate and People of New Rome wrote:NATION INFORMATION
Nation name: The Roman Empire
National goals: To expand the Empire for the Glory of Rome
Nation's Leader: Caesar Augustus IX
National Government: A mixed bag, it has aspects of both a republic and an absolute monarchy, though it is functionally the latter. The Roman Senate holds sway over most domestic matters while the Emperor exercises sole authority over foreign affairs and the military.
National history: The Roman Empire was formed in 1261, following a series of civil wars in Riverside. The country was united under the leadership of the first Emperor, Gaius I, who proceeded to invade the neighboring state of Imperiat Dominion, fighting for two decades to bring the nation under his control. In 1289, he invaded High Hammer, completing its conquest just before his death in 1301. His son, Gaius II, would invade Rockfell in 1310, conquering it in 1322. In 1330, he would launch an invasion of White Harbor. It would take forty years of fighting to conquer it and it fell in 1375, three years after his death. In 1376, Gaius III died of smallpox, leaving no heir. The Senate appointed Augustus I as the new Emperor in 1377 and in 1385, Augustus would invade Redland, which fell in 1390. In 1400, he invaded Skyhelm, which collapsed under his attacks in 1429. He died a month after the conquest of Skyhelm. Augustus II launched an invasion of Dartmoor in 1440, however it ended in disaster after seven legions were wiped out in the Battle of the Dark Forest in 1457. In 1470, he launched another attempt, though he died three years afterwards. Augustus III would see Dartmoor fall in 1530. In 1545, Augustus III died of fever. Augustus IV invaded Solsthem in 1560 and had the entire country under his control by 1575. Augustus IV died in 1589. Augustus V would launch a series of invasions against the outlying islands of Tamir starting 1610. For the next 260 years, Emperors conquered tiny islands and engaged in trade with nations to the West and South. In 1870, following the death of Augustus VIII, Augustus IX began a policy of aggressive military expansion, particularly of the historically overlooked Roman Navy. His goal was to outshine all of his predecessors by being the first to conquer a land that was not a part of the Tamir Continent.

National Passtime: Gladiator sports
National holiday: The Emperor’s Birthday

Political issues:
Chance of revolt: Small chance of slave revolt
Greatest Victory: Battle of Lakeshore, where a single cohort held off 40,000 Imperiat troops for ten days in 1270.

Legion, Field Dress consists of a black cotton tunic, black cotton trousers, black cotton boots, a steel picklehaube with a black cotton cover, and a dark leather ammunition bandolier.
Pack gear: 30 kilograms, including 15 days rations, 200 rounds of ammunition for the rifle, and 60 rounds for revolver.
Greatest Strengths: Legionnaires are elite soldiers and expert marksmen.
Greatest Weaknesses: Legions are commanded by aristocrats, usually senators. While this is, sometimes, advantageous, it can also be problematic, as anyone who knows about the Battle of Isandlwhana can attest.
Tactics: Auxiliaries would be used to harass enemy forces on horseback or at range in skirmish lines while the better trained and better equipped legionnaires would be used to mop up the hopefully disorganized enemy.
Specialty: Fortifications. Each legionnaire is also a combat engineer, capable of erecting powerful fortifications if given enough time. Give a legion a day at the top of a hill, only the best equipped army will force the off. Give them a week, no army will force them from it.

Tactics: Either massed charges on routing enemies or harassing attacks in the support of an infantry advance.
Specialty: Fast horses and skilled riders make for highly mobile soldiers

That being said, it's quite laughable that your three ships are getting into a battle with state of the art Warglorian warships
for the 18th century!
