Sareka Suwong Military Base
Bhikkustan

The Bhikkustani High Command was awash with voices when the notification finally came through. They had been expecting it for days, but it still took them by surprise. A call came across the announcers, it's mechanical voice ringing clear across the crowded room. "War has been declared by Vioraux, we are at war. I repeat, we are at war."

Field Marshal Pruek Kiniji, head of the Bhikkustani armed forces, turned to face the other officers in the room. They stood at attention, arms held in a crisp salute. "At ease men." He said calmly, assessing the situation. Already he was calculating possible attacks. He cleared his throat, preparing for a speech.

"Men, today we stand at an important moment in our nation's history. We are now at war with a nation that has shown no regard for human rights or mercy of any kind. Even now they round up our people, to a fate that is quite possibly death. I know that the Buddha told us not to kill, but from this day onwards we shall be forced to do things that we will not feel comfortable with, that will draw every protest from our minds. But we must put these thoughts behind us, and act as the wrathful defenders of our people, our nation, our beliefs, and our Khan! I did not wish for it to come to war, but now it has we shall not be found wanting. As of now, Vioraux has no armed forces. It will take them time to transfer their men from domanania to Vioraux, so for now we have the upper hand. We must strike them whilst they are weak, knock out the legs of the chair before it is strengthened.

We have only one weapon that can help us here. Surprise. As Domanania is not currently at a state of war, they will not expect an attack. We must strike at them before they can stand against us. I know just the target. The Domanaian fleet at the isle of Tamron. This location is weakly defended, and within range of the BNS Yamantaka which is currently at sea with the first fleet. A quick air raid to cripple the fleet here would strike a deadly blow to both Doman and Vienne morale, as well as taking out a threat to our nation."

The room nodded solemnly, understanding the gravity of this plan. If it failed they would lose most of their airforce in one attack. It would also quicken Doman mobilisation and damn them in the eyes of much of the international community. Yet as it stood, it was the best plan that they had. They continued to listen as Pruek continued.

"This attack is not without risks, but as it stands is the only way that we can strike a blow to Satan whilst she is weak. I personally believe that the risks of the venture are overweighted by the benefits. What say you, should we attack the Tamron Fleet?"

The vote was unanimous. Yes. Pruek got on the phone and called the captain of the Yamantaka, filling him in on the mission.

BNS Yamantaka
Bhikkustani First Fleet
North Mesder Sea

Admiral Funlong nodded grimly, and turned towards the other men of his ship. The rest if the fleet were linked in via a highly secure video call. "As you know men, we are now at war. We have been instructed to launch a raid on the enemy naval base at Tamron isle. I want all flight crews ready to launch as soon as possible. Brief the pilots. Stealth and surprise are key. No radio chatter and fly low over the sea to avoid radar detection." He paused, and the officers present nodded. "I want all air defences and radar on. We don't want anyone to attack us."

The officers saluted and ran towards their stations. The mechanics began working on the planes, getting them ready for the task. The flight officers ran down to the pilot's mess, where they we currently eating lunch. Jhaka Khan saw his wing commander running in, and knew from his expression something was happening. "Commander, what's up?" He asked curiously. His squadron all looked up from their plates of plain food and looked towards him expectingly.

"Well men," Commander Farensingh started, "We are currently at war. We are going to take part in a raid on an enemy base."

The men looked at him in disbelief. They had not been expecting to face any enemy, even though they were being sent to a warzone. They had expected some cushy garrison duty in To Quoc Duc.

"We have been ordered to fly low to avoid radar contact. We are on the first wave. We need to take out air defences so that the bombers can take out the enemy ships. The coordinates have been entered into your vehicles already."

The pilots looked at each other nervously. Most of them had never flown in a combat mission before, and most of the missions flown were over Moukere against outdated aircraft with little danger from anti-aircraft Fire.

"I wish you all the best of luck. And no radio chatter at all. That means you, Duuri!"

The pilots laughed, the simple jest breaking away some of the tension that had built up. Jhaha ran towards his aircraft, A Gudaonese Condor VTOL. The boat's chaplain Ajahn Kevali stood In the hallway. As each fighter went past they were anointed by blessed holy water on their forehead, to symbolise the third eye of Buddha that would watch over them. Jhaka stepped onto his plane. He chanted a mantra whilst he prepared for battle, making sure all his systems were working perfectly. He strapped himself in, then waited for the rest of the group to be ready to launch. He thought over the plan. Firstly, a wave of 14 Condors escorted by a radar blocking aircraft would fly in and take out all air defences. After that the remaining 21 Condors and the six Balam strike bombers would fly in and annihilate the boats at anchor. They would then return as quickly as possible, making sure that they were not followed. They would land, before heading at full steam to To Quoci waters where they could not be harmed.

Jhaka waited in his seat as the final preparations were put in place. Eventually they were given the all clear, and engaged their VTOL engines. They took off, before accelerating above the speed of sound and flying low over the water towards Domanania. It was hard flying, as the myriads of thermals and wind gusts buffeted the planes from side to side. They kept to a v formation, coming in over the eastern horizon so that the sun would be in the eyes of any watchful guards.

They needn't have worried, because as they drew near to Tamron Isle they had not been spotted. Instinctively Jhaka slowed down a little, taking in his targets. He sighed a missile battery on the isle and aimed his missiles towards it carefully. An order came across the box network, crackly but clear. "Engage the foes! For the Khanate!"

He fired his missiles, their thin bodies spiralling downwards towards the battery of missiles located on the north of the island. They disappeared, and he was rewarded seconds later with a bright orange explosion as the missiles exploded. He didn't look to confirm the kill. Time was of the essence, quickly in and out. He saw some sailors on board a cruiser begin to prepare their anti-aircraft guns and locked on, the missile streaming downwards. He thought he could hear the terrified screams of his foes, and smiled. Truly, it was glorious to destroy the weak foes of the Khanate. He was yanked from his daydream by another message. "First wave move out, second wave attack!"

By now the air was a jumble of anti-aircraft Fire as the remaining defences began to spit their deadly payload back upwards towards these raiders. He saw one plane spiral downwards to the ground, before it was enveloped by a fiery explosion. "I will avenge you!" He shouted, chasing towards an enemy bunker. He jettisoned the last of his missiles, destroying the bulwark.

The second wave arrived almost instantly, and set to work on their task. The Balam Bombers headed straight to the middle of the fleet. They began to rain their deadly cargo, bombs falling towards the ships that were stationed below. The bombs fell, crashing into several ships. One of the pilots yelled out over the radio, ignoring the instructions for silence. "I got it, the aircraft carrier is sinking!"

The pilots took heart from this, and continued. Soon the harbour was a messy heap of junk metal, the carcasses of destroyed boats littered throughout the bay. Their task complete, the aircraft flew back to their ships in triumph. Only two aircraft were lost, although several more would require extensive repairs. In return, they had destroyed the entire fleet stationed at Tamron.

The pilots got out of their aircraft and celebrated. The mission was an undeniable success. A simple message was relayed back to Samadhi. "Mission Accomplished."

The early morning had been going as planned. Fishermen opened their stalls and started their boats for the day, the local bakery had fired up its ovens, filling the street with an aroma of baked goods. Sailors; both Doman and Vienne strolled through the streets during shore leave. The sun was rising and the town was waking up under the light fog of the day.

But now is when everyone heard a faint rumbling sound off over the water. Dozens of people turned to look, hoping to see some mighty Doman planes flying over. But they were all terrified when there was a faint glow off in the distance, and a sharp hissing sound was heard. The planes pulled up, and missiles struck the ports.

Air raid sirens and red alert alarms on the ships began to blare as every man, woman and child began to run for cover as missile after missile either hit a ship in port, or missed and struck the surrounding area.

Point Defense Weapons on the ships began firing. Some blindly since their radar was offline from the earlier storm. Some ships were on fire as men jumped from the decks into the water. But, it was all over in mere minutes.

After the smoke cleared and the ringing of the bells and alarms stopped, everyone was horrified at the sight. 11 ships, including a carrier, were sinking to the bottom of the harbor. Fires raged on the ships and in the town. Men were screaming, and many were dead. In total, 3,800 dead personnel, and 20 civilians. Fire engines began to roll into town to take care of the fires.

The call came in during the early morning, when the Chief of the Navy was making his coffee. "Sir, we just got word that the naval group at Tamron was attacked! There are 3 ships still burning, but the rest are sunk!" Yelled the Commander clutching several papers, detailing the report.
"Who attacked us?" Asked the Chief, setting his coffee down with a shaky hand.
"We don't know. They flew from the sun and attacked from above the low lying clouds. We suspect it was Bhikkustan. A sub out in the North Mesder reported picking up the signature of the BNS Yamantaka. We suspect they launched from outside radar range, and then dipped below our detection."
The Chief nodded and walked into his quarters to change into his uniform "Inform the Vice Admiral of the Oyrsyc to mobilize his strike force, and take his fleet out to the North Mesder Sea to pursue the Yamantaka. And Order that sub to track it down, and follow it!"
The Commander ran out to relay the orders.

On Board the Oyrsyc, the Vice Admiral Wulher undocked from Dowlwind Harbor and along with 4 Vengance Class Frigates and 3 Serpent class Cruisers set out into the Four Passages to hunt down the strike fleet that launched the attack. Although further south than Tamron, they would have to rely on the Submarine that spotted the carrier to follow it and relay it's position back.

It has been four days since the initial deployment of the fleets. The submarine tasked with finding the Bhikkustani carrier force has had no such luck.

Meanwhile the carrier force sent after them have reached the initial area they believe the strike came from, sweeping the area in case the Bhikkustani are still in the area. Relaying back to base "Commander, there is no sign of the Bhikkustani forces here. We shall continue searching using our aircraft."
"Copy. Do not go too far. Don't want you to over extend your combat abilities"

General Suuriban Khan, the eldest son of Surevi, stared down at the group of Kheshig that he was commanding. They ran up and down the plaza, practicing their city fighting skills also guide an Moukeri division. The soldiers trained hard, making sure to impress the high command of the army who were watching.

Suuriban called them over after three hours. "Good work brothers!" He yelled amiably, impressed by the skill and determination he had witnessed. "You will be very good when we have to face the servants of Satan in battle."

The generals nodded their approval. The Kheshig were the pride of the national armed forces, and to see that they were combat ready was good.

"Tomorrow, you will work alongside the sixteenth airborne division. Practicing parachute landing and digging in. We need you to be ready for any mission at any moment."

The first fleet that had headed out into the North Mesder was reporting back with no signs of the enemy fleet.

"Keep an eye out north of Dashgrinaar. Any unidentified vessels should be treated as hostile" was the commander's orders.

Meanwhile the two claymore class submarines have been dispatched to head out to the seas around Bhikustan to run interference.

Capri, Livorino
Aboard the KES Drachma

Commander Eregner couldn't believe his eyes as he saw the Battlegroup pass by.
"Are those Bhikkustani ships?," he asked.
"Yes sir," said First Lieutenant Qin, "and with the carrier most likely the carrier battlegroup that decimated the Domanian fleet at Tamron.
"Inform HQ immediately," commanded the Captain his voice turning to steel. They need to know about this."

Hayara, Keomora
"Are you sure about this" asked Admiral Nguyen as he read the report.
"Yes sir, they're accurate."
"Then inform the Parliament... and our allies in Domanania. They deserve to hear this, and bring forth justice for their fallen."

"Commander! We have just been tipped off of the composition of the Bhikustani Strike Fleet!"
The Vice Admiral set his afternoon coffee down. "Excellent. We shall intercept them. Block them in and give them only one option...fight us or the Keomorans."

On Board the command sub, now in Bhikustani Waters
"Commander, we have entered their waters...what is your plan?"
"We will find their ships and destroy them. Limit the strikes to military vessels only. We need to be better than them, no civilians if it can be helped. Those pigs will pay for what they did"

On board the Corvette Taksinkva
Bhikkustani Waters

Captain Sürü looked out over the stormy water. His ship had been out in the sea for a day, performing a routine sweep of the waters to look out for enemy movements. So far nothing had come up. He sat back in his chair, revelling in the tranquil calm of the morning.

His peace was shattered by a wailing alarm. A radar specialist ran in shouting. "Captain, we got a blip on the radar! Enemy submarine!"

Sürü looked at him, shock evident on his face. He blurted out orders quickly, his training kicking in.

"Evasive maneuvers! Prepare weapons systems!"

The sailors ran around, taking up positions and preparing to fight back. He looked over to his radar screens, and saw a shape moving towards them. He gasped as he realised what it was.

"Missile incoming! Brace!"

He managed to get under his desk before the missiles hit. The bridge was destroyed instantly, the survivors diving into the deeps to evade the flames enveloping their ship. The Taksinkva sank to the bottom of the sea.

On Board the Leqwic Command Submarine
Bhikustani Waters

A young Ensign reported to Commander Texh that a small corvette had been patrolling the waters.

"Excellent. We can ambush it and prove to them that their own waters aren't safe"

They readied their set plan. One of the subs would make it's appearance known on radar by surfacing. And they would wait until the other submarine which was a few Kilometers further out saw that they were ready for action.

And then one of the subs fired one of its short range missiles, designed to take out naval vessels or coastal fortifications.

They wanted to keep the knowledge of their being two subs a mystery, so they were hoping to deliver a quick death to the bridge of the ship, so any technician that saw the missile come in from another direction than the detected sub, would be killed in the explosion.

And in a few seconds, it was a confirmed hit to the bridge. The high explosive shell tore it apart.

"Confirmed hit Commander. Enemy vessel is on fire and sinking" Reported a radio operator.

"Excellent. Dive and move to the next area." Said the commander, and both ships dove deeper into the stormy waters and began to move to strike again

On board the BNS Yamantaka
Keomoran waters

Admiral Funlong was standing at his desk, his forehead covered in a glossy sheen of sweat. He looked at the radar reports. They were surrounded. "The bloody keomoran said tipped us off to Domanaia," he whispered to himself under his breath. They didn't have much they could do. They did not want to attack Keomora and go to war with them, but they were attempting to foster peace with Domanania at the same time. The fleet simply sat at anchor, waiting like a rabbit in a snare. They knew that they were likely going to die, but held on to hope. "If the peace process succeeds we will be fine," he reassured himself. He got up slowly, dreading what would happen next. Every second he expected a missile to come flying in and kill him. He sent a message to the flight crews. "Look out for a scramble at any time. Maintain patrols. Do not engage unless tired on."

Admiral starred at the horizon from his ship KES Qayar, the flagship of the second fleet and fleet carrier of Battlegroup 2. Of course his ship wasn't alone, they were escorted with one of the new Razor-class assault ship, a cruiser, four destroyers, six frigates, a nuclear fleet submarine and a wolfpack of 3 deathstalker diesel-eletric submarines: the entirety of the second fleet. All to meet the Bhikkustani fleet within their waters.
"Give the order" the admiral commanded to his communications officer, "do not engage their fleet until they fire first."
"Sir," asked the officer," Captain Venshu is asking what our response will be if they attack."
"Simple... we destroy them. Tell every ship to have their CIWS online and their weapons officer prepared at all time.

Kemor Margara
Men, woman and children stare at the sky in fascination as dozens of planes bearing the Keomoran sigil were seen over the sky all landing at Kraitan Airfield. None of them knew what they contained, hundreds of troops from the Keomoran Foreign Legion, with more to follow in the oncoming days. Their commander Major Derya Tharjat was anxious, hoping that Athara Margarat was not stupid enough to attack. But deep in his heart he welcomed it. He heard of the Gurkhas martial prowess and he couldn't wait for the chance of killing them.

Command Deck of the Oyrsyc

"Halt the fleet. We wait here" Said Wulher "We have orders to halt any attacks we may make. Apparently we are trying to make peace with the pigs" This received a few chuckles from the command deck. "But scramble the jets, and tell the Mountain Ships in Keomora to be on stand by with their planes. If we can keep them out of the skies, then if this doesn't turn out well, then we will have them"

And then with the roar of dozens of jets the air was filled with T6-C's as they began to do low passes around the Bhikustani fleet. The jets would get close, but not enough to bait them into attacking during a cease fire, because either attacking would be devastating for both sides.

BNS Yamantaka
Keomoran Waters

The command deck of the Yamantaka was absolutely frazzled. They had been at their stations for 48 hours without sleep and even the copious amounts of caffeine taken were starting to fail. Admiral Funlong sat immobile, trying to meditate and failing badly. His entire body was visibly stressed out, his hands shaking and pulse racing. He looked out the window, and saw the Domans closing in. He had seen that the Domans had accepted the ceasefire but knew that there was a chance that they were too angry to care. He gulped.

"Enemy planes sighted off the port now!" Shouted an observation officer, "the Domans have launched fighters!"

He turned and, with confidence he didn't feel, blurted orders.

"Turn to face their fleet. All weapons systems online and aimed at the enemy. I want fighters in the air. Fire a warning shot at those fighters."

FNS Oyrsyc
Keomoran Waters

"Command, this is T-1. The enemy are scrambling fighters. They may just be reacting to our tactic...we will remain vig-" the pilot was cut short by one of the warning shots fired at his formation rattling his jet. His squad broke off their current run. "Those bastards...it seemed like a warning shot. But their fleet is turning their weapons to face ours over"

Command Deck of the Oyrsyc

"Roger T-1. Break current run and make wide passes. Don't engage unless fired upon with the intent to destroy your tactical"

Of the jets in the air, most pulled back and made wider passes of the fleet. Meanwhile the Frigates and Cruisers began to form up in a defensive shield around the carrier, aiming their guns at the adjacent fleet, prepping their missile bays for an attack.

Suddenly a loud voice screamed from loudspeakers from both Bhikkustan and Domananian ships.
"Lower your weapons now!" Ordered Amdiral Shen, "As I have to remind you all you are still in Keomoran Waters and I would prefer you do not lay waste to each other here."

Kemor Akar/Thakali Island

"Get out of our island!"

"Death to Keomorans!"

"Long live Thakali Island!"

Image

Men, women and even children holding the quadri-colored Thakali flag marched across the streets and chanted slogans against the arrival of Keomoran Foreign Legionaries. There were several other flags of other ethnic groups present in the protesting group as well. A few even shouted "Long live Athara Magarat" and "We are with Bhikkustan".

Several young protesters were armed with stones, sticks and kukris, the traditional curved blade which was a symbol for all Nepali-origin people.

The shops and restaurants that the tiny island was popular for were all closed. There was already friction among the Keomoran Akari and Thakali-majority Athara Magarati population in the island called Kemor Akar by Keomorans and Thakali Island by Athara Magaratis. They had always quarreled and resented each other ever since the island had been gifted to Keomora by the 1980s Eagle Brigade-government of Athara Magarat for KFL help during the Anti-Western Revolts. The recent landing of hundreds of Keomoran troops had added fuel to the tensions.

The protesters neared KFL base and were ready to even clash with the Keomorans, soldiers and citizens alike.

Kemor Margara
It was a massacre. Of the 100 police sent to guard the vulnerable Taihen Square a quarter of them were dead. Lieutenant Wiyen Kayen was surrounded with the other remaining officers by a swarm of protestors who looted and murdered as they saw fit. Screams echoed through the sky as the horde butchered people mercilessly. And armed with only riot gear, batons and handguns they were woefully unprepared.
"I'm out of ammunition," screamed a corporal.
"There are too many!"
"Goddess preserve us!"
Wether it was fate or sheer damn luch their prayer was answered. Machine fire rang through the sky and the protestors fled only to be cut off at hastily assembled lines of KFL bearing assault rifles and machine guns. Efficiently and quickly they issued their retribution and KFL in riot gear and shields began to relieve them. Slowly the lines tightened like a noose as the protestors were herded in. No matter how hard they tried to escape it was to no avail as they switched methodically shot thwm one by one or as the people in the center discovered being squashed to death. Eventually it was over. Over a hundred Keomorans and pro-Keomoran Thakali were dead with several dozens stores looted and burned. Meanwhile dozens were arrested with nearly 50 dead.
The commander of the KFL stood over the pile of corpses and sighed. Keomora was sending backup, one razor class assault ship, a destroyer and two frigates alongside a contingent of 10 Shayans escorting 20 C-17 and 3 C-5s. This was going to be one heck of a fight.

The Democratic Republic of Athara Magarat was now officially at war with the Empire of Keomora. All political parties, politicians and parliament members unitedly supported the declaration of war, signifying the growing power of the President Purna Sura Paija.

The ethnic violence at Atish City was an internal matter. The violence in Thakali Island was not. The two former friendly nations were now enemies.

And now ten Miklania-made C-37 Guardian Light Transport were on route to Thakali Island. Each of these aircrafts carried 46 paratroopers from the "Magpies" airborne battalion. These 460 elite soldiers (the Magpies are only 1000 in numbers) had the task of capturing an important location, Marpha Town, so as to make the fertile pasturelands as airhead. Thakali Island had only one airport and that was currently under Keomoran control so Marpha Town and Magpies were very essential for transporting other troops to the warzone in the coming days.

Keomora was Athara Magarat's enemy and their enemy was the Keomoran Foreign Legion whom they would be engaging soon. The men and women began to pray as they jumped down one by one from the Guardians in the darkness of the night. Praying that they would not be hit by enemy fire so that they could complete their mission.

And their prayers worked as almost all of the 460 Magpies landed within various locations around Marpha Town. Capturing the silent town during the night was easy as there was virtually no resistance. There was only one police station in the town. Just a platoon of 46 Magpies were much more than enough to run down the small police station with gunfire and grenades. The surving Keomoran police officers were taken captives.

The rest of the Magpies were busy blocking the only two roads leading to Marpha Town. Hardly any vehicles approached them but they remained vigilant in line formations. The officers were busy informing the local population, who were all Thakalis and a few other Athara Magarati ethnic groups, about their landing and the importance of the town to the arriving larger Athara Magarati National Army force.

The youths and other citizens volunteered to help the Magpies clear the pasturelands as a temporary landing airefield. They began sorting out rocks and cutting down the grass quickly so as to prepare the airfield by morning.

"Thank you ladies and gentlemen!" saluted Magpies Commander Lieutenant Colonel Siddhartha Thane Pun to the locals. "Tomorrow, you will see a new day when you become part of Athara Magarat."

"We always were in our hearts!" A few youths shouted.

The lieutenant colonel smiled. All was going well. They just had to wait for the larger force from Athara Magarat National Army to arrive the next day. Till then their orders were to keep Marpha Town in their control and block all Keomoran invasions to the town. Operation Magpies Nest had been a success so far. And the signalers were sending that message back to the mainland.

Thakali Island/Kemor Akar

The success of Operation Magpies Nest had prompted the defense ministry to swiftly send the second wave of Athara Magarati soldiers to Thakali Island. The squadron of ten C-37 Guardians were used again. With an interval of half an hour, the light transport aircrafts landed at the temporary makeshift airfield one by one.

The first two landings and take-offs were successful. The first Guardian deployed a mechanized platoon of the "Warhorse" Battalion along with two Ostehaar-made OSD-AV1 Vulf (Wolf) Armored Vehicles. The second Guardian was packed with 60 personals from the "Rat" Battalion which consisted of platoons of military engineers, combat medics and recon teams to assist the Magpies.

The third plane was not that much lucky. The 60 members of the frontier force "Ram" Battalion Bhyanglung Company's 1st and 2nd Platoons and two pilots from the "Eagle Force" air force and air-assault battalion were in that unfortunate Guardian. The light transport was hit by incoming missiles from the enemy. It plummeted swiftly to the ground as they began to prepare for the crash.

Aboard the BNS Yamantaka
Keomoran Waters

Admiral Funlong looked out over the seas. Just about a kilometre away was a ship that by all means was able to kill him and was most likely willing. He looked out over his fleet, smaller but still strong. If it came to blows, there was little doubt about the result. Something that Bhikkustan could not afford. He walked slowly towards the radio, and attempted to get through to the leader of the Domanaian fleet. To tell them that they were willing to enter talks.

Near Thakali Island

The Kheshig soldiers clung to their handles as the small helicopter flew low over the sea. They flew as low as possible, attempting to get past the radar of the Keomoran fleet. They did not want to provoke the Keomorans, especially with their fleet well within striking range of Keomora. They flew in quickly, just managing to get in. The helicopter came in slowly, descending to the earth.

"Go go go"

The soldiers streamed out of the helicopter, running into the shelter of the nearby Athara Magarati base. They ran in, before standing at attention before the leader of the Athara Magarati force.

"We are the Ninth Kheshig Platoon. Awaiting orders."

Command Deck of the Oyrsyc

The radio lit up with a private channel. Vice Admiral Wulher walked over and answered with upmost authority, knowing the situation that they were both in. They were to carry out the peace talks as dictated by their governments.

"This is Wulher, commander of the Oyrsyc. Am i correct in assuming this is Funlong onboard the Yamantaka?"
