Earth - 1913

An era of rabid Imperialism has gripped the nations of the world, burgenoning Democracies must compete for land space against age old Monarchies, both face a new enemy in the Spectre that is the Rise of Socialism. The World soon fills with revolution, annexation and political tensions. Tensions mount and annexation becomes a key tool in the removal of age old enemies 'legally'. Alliances are made, sides are called up and the world digs in for the long fight to come.

The World is almost at War in 1913 and it is but a matter of time before the barely stable peace that holds the world together is shattered by another annexation, invasion, or assassination. Welcome to Earth - Population: Uncertain

Constantinopolis, Federation of Holy Imperial States

Pvt. Goth stood in the makeshift base that had been built in the Central Plaza for preparations. There had been talk throughout the countryside of looming war with the nations to the east, Emperor Constantin's men had went door to door across the land drafting all men of age to begin building up his army. so here he was cleaning out his Mosin-Nagant rifle instead of plowing the fields. Many recruits came into today so Goth had expected something big was about to go down. The government kept the passing of information under strict control so very little information made it to Constantinopolis. But Goth knew someone would strike soon, either Constantin would have them march out to the plains or the eastern nations would bring the fight to them, but for now they waited, cleaning off rifles, gathering food, and bring in new recruits.

Emperor von Schnider stood on the Battlements of Ft. Brünhilde watching the waves crash on the rocky shore. Colonel Silberstein approached "your grace, I have assembled my men [15,300] we will be leaving in the morning for Augsburge."
To which the emperor replied: "Good lead them well. don't let your men's nerves get in the way of what must be done"
"I won't let my country down remember, Wir sind das Walküre!"
"Yes, but war is hell especially today"
[church bells toll 4:00]
Colonel Silberstien remarked that he must leave to take care of family matters before he left
"Godspeed colonel and may you return safely"
at 5 the next morning Colonel Silberstein addressed his men: "Men, brothers at arms, today we embark on a great voyage for our nation. We will be fighting a war not for the faint of heart. We are all patriots, we would all die for the crown 100 times over before we see our banner fall! our enemies will be great but we will be greater! Wir sind das Walküre!"

Alexander Kerensky was sat in his office gazing out of the window and watching the snow flakes fall from the heavens and cover the city below him in a fine, white blanket. The recent days had been hard on him and they were showing, his face looked tired, his eyes sunken and his complexion pale. Numerous diplomatic missions had failed and the economy was all but stagnant. He just hoped his plans would stand firm. To the west, towards Europe he had stationed almost three million troops along the Vostrian border. He didn't trust the corrupt, capitalist nations of the west and mixed with the pitiful foreign relations he risked an attack. His troops were digging in and preparing defences including trenches and killing grounds.

He also had 2 million troops, 1 million to the East and another million to the South, pushing outwards and securing more land for Vostria.

In the Imperial Palace of the Lord Protector
The Most Holy Capital Jakar, Inabi

The Lord Protector of Inabi shuffled papers around, signing them off, or giving them the official seal every now and then. It was another boring day in a boring world. However, there was a sign of hope. Or rather, hope to end this cycle of boredom. Tensions were growing on the other side of the world, in Europe. There were rumors of skirmishes breaking out with several countries, and the superpowers of Europe were on the edge of their seats. It was just a matter of time before someone, anyone, made the first move. However, it was clear that a move would be made. When the proverbial domino is tapped over, knocking into the next one, it will be a colliding process. It will be a process that no moral will be able to stop. Alliances, ones long from the past and ones that have been recently made, will be called into play. Nations will have to defend other nations, shots will be fired, and Europe will burn.

The Holy Empire of Inabi, of course, will not be missing out on this little event. The Inabian Navy was set to sail, and the construction of several battleships was already underway. The Inabian Army was being trained more then usual, and the military was set to deploy at a moment's notice. Several ships were already stocked with supplies, given the order, they would load up with troops and set sail to Europe. The Inabian Committee of Public Intelligence (ICPI) was already on the work of creating propaganda. Hundreds of men were being hired to make public speeches supporting the Allies and insulting the Central Powers. Historians and writers were hired to create political booklets that would be distributed door to door. Dissenters were to be treated as traitors, and could be fined up to 1000 Inabian Wons or be put into jail. Without even putting a draft into effect, men were volunteering to join the military.

An advisor tapped the Lord Protector on the shoulder. It was time for him to make his speech to the people. The Lord Protector nodded and stood up from his chair. He walked with his advisor by his side to the balcony where he would make his speech. The preparations were already made, the microphone and podium set up. His pre-written speech lied there on the podium. The masses were below, waiting in anticipation. There were small side-conversations taking place, and there were several calls of "Hail Inabi!" or "Long live the Lord Protector!" The Lord Protector held up his hand for silence. The crowd instantly fell silent. The Lord Protector cleared his throat, "My fellow Inabians, I stand here a proud leader. I stand here a proud leader due to the work of the common people. It is you that gather the crops. It is you that fire the shots. It is you that defend the homefront. It is you that go out to kill the enemy. It is you that create our weapons. Inabi is truly a great country supporting greatly by the people."

The Lord Protector took a pause for the crowd to erupt in cheers, and they did. The Lord Protector held his hand again for silence, and the crowd instantly went silent once again. "We have sided ourselves with the Allies. This great alliance which upholds the true, righteous morals. This great alliance with a military that shakes the very earth while they march. This great alliance that has technology which will make the enemy run away in fear! And who are our enemies? The Central Powers. A cowardly alliance which stands on corrupt, evil morals. This cowardly alliance with a military that could not win a war against a pack of cows! This cowardly alliance which has such backwater technology, it is amazing they have not yet killed themselves!" This little rant about the Central Powers caused the crowd to roar in laughter. "Well my fellow Inabians. If we are to go to war, it is clear who the winner will be. Hail the Allies. Hail Inabi!" The crowd clapped, yelled, and cheered as the Lord Protector held his hands up in triumph. The people were in his hands, a patriotic mood swept the country. There was nothing stopping him from doing anything, or rather, more so then usual. The Lord Protector went back into his balcony, the crowd cheering behind him.

General Alexander Garman watched the column of Augsberger troops march down the road in eastern Galicia, kicking up a cloud of dust as they went.

Behind him, the sounds of artillery crews was a low hum in his ears, the usually loud and vehement complaints kept to a low volume and less explicit by his presence. He couldn’t stop them from complaining, but he could damn well make sure they did their job while they complained.

“And sometimes that’s a victory,” he muttered. Even the infusion of German efficiency into the Holy League’s officer corps hadn’t made a serious dent in the problems of making an army out of too many separate ethnic groups to count. Garman often marveled at the fact that this offensive was even starting, let alone on time.

Spurring his steed, he soon arrived at his forward headquarters, established in a large manor home. The landowner had been all too happy to let the army in when confronted with the bayonets and rifles of Garman’s personal guards. Now the man and his son were staying out of the way, while the wife and two daughters served the men food and drink.

“Everything starting on time?” Garman spoke to a lesser officer who had been speaking into a radio.

“Yes general. The artillery should start firing about…now.” A few seconds later, as if on cue, the distant sound of artillery penetrated the walls of the manor.

The invasion of Vostria had begun.

Constantinopolis, Federation of Holy Imperial States

General Octivin tapped the Emperor's shoulder as he looked out at his men gathered in the Central Plaza, "The men are ready for deployment at your command Your Highness" Octivin said quietly. "Our allies in Augsburge have begun to move upon Vostria, we must be prepared as Vostria's alliances will undoubtedly retaliate ans as the allies of Augsburge we are obligated to aid them". Emperor Constantin said still viewing the rows of men from the window. The General looked uneasy as he tried to read the Emperor's emotions, "Are you sure you want to do this, Your Highness, the last time our men went to war it was for the sake of independence, i doubt they will fight as valiantly just for a alliance". The Emperor paused for a minute then continued "We must do what is necessary for the Federation and uphold our alliance with Augsburge, tell the other Generals to begin marshaling their men into marching columns and begin the march to the north"
"Right away, sir" the General said and left the throne room swiftly.

Down in the courtyard Pvt. Goth was awoken by the sound of horses and bustling men, He ran to get his rifle and joined his comrades in their specified marching column. "Now is the time to fight for your land, your emperor, your God" General Octivin droned from a podium in the center of the courtyard. "If this is so important why does Constantin come tell us himself" Goth muttered under his breath. "MOVE OUT!" one of the Colonels at the head of the marching column yelled and the men slowly but surely began the slow march out of the gates of Constantinopolis.

Baltimore, Maryland - United States of Amerikia

While an Age of Distrust and a new Imperial War gripped Europe, North America was seen in a different light. Isolationism and powerful xenophobia took root in the minds of Amerikians across their small nation. In the Provinces those who were not 'truly Amerikian' suffered from prejudice and maltreatement,

"Invasion of Vostria: Could it Be?" The Baltimore Gazette had covering it's front page, it sat on a small table in the Presidental Palace in the Governmental District of the Capital. "Europe to Go to War?" Another Gazette had emblazened on it's front page. Europe was gearing up for War and Amerikia wanted no part in it. Later that day the President was expected to give a speech concerning absolute neutrality when it came to the United States, the xenophobic masses agreed wholeheartedly with the planned event.

Druids Hill Park - Baltimore, Maryland - 2:30PM 1913

"My Fellow Amerikians!" The President began his speech with a greeting, the public stood to pay attention. "War is brewing as the Imperialists of Europe threaten to destroy one another yet again. Ancient Rivalries boil over as Assassination becomes the mainstay of their daily activities. Armies March and the Earth rumbles beneath their footsteps. Great numbers of men and metal threaten to consume the entire world." President Hawthorn said charismatically and loudly. "But this War is not our war! The United States of Amerikia has and wants no part of this blatant imperialism! We shall not become involved in this travesity that is War. Neutrality, I say to you, Amerikia, Now and Forever!" Hawthorn bellowed earning a cheer from the crowd.

"We will strengthen our coastal defenses through out the United States and we shall strengthen the defense of our maritime trading lanes, but we shall not become involved in this Imperial War. The Last Imperial War, I say Amerikia! The Last Imperial War! For this time shall prove too much, and the Monarchies of the Old World shall fall into disrepair and dispair from within and the disfunctional Socialist States still forming shall crumble like clay beneath their own maligancy! Democracy, Democracy my Amerikia, Now and Forever! It shall be sang in the hills and the meadows, the people's will! The People's Will!" Hawthorn shouted with a nationalist zeal. "The United States of Amerikia does here by tell unto the World. This is your war, and we want no part of it!" Hawthorn finished in a loud cry to the heavens and the people uproarously cheered with great glee, top hats and bonnets flying into the air as the populous forgot themselves in the heat of the moment.

The International was published that day and by telegram and word of mouth news would reach Europe and it's people through the papers and the wires.

"United States: Neutrality Now and Forever!" "Nationalist Zeal and Cowardice to drive Amerikia to the sidelines of History?"

Emperor von Schnider was attending the opera [Il Barbiere Di Siviglia] tonight when at the intermission a telegram arrive it read this

HG Woton|February 22, 1913, 1400 hr.|

it was a sleepless night for The Emperor, he felt as though something would happen to jeopardize the invasion-only time would tell...
when no word came from the HG Woton he assumed the ships were running late.
Knowing that war was unavoidable at this point Emperor von Schnider decided to announce this to his people. He would spend the next day making speeches.

"Good people of Gradonia I greet you with news that will bring great glory to our nation, our empire! [thunderous applause] This morning our troops landed on the Dalmatian Coast. we are now at war with the Central Powers! This is a great day for our empire! We will write the history books not as a weak nation of states that could never agree but rather a great power who's might made its enemies tremble with fear! this year 1913 is the year we ascend to greatness unlike any we have ever experienced. This war will see the emergence of a new, more unified Gradonia! We will truly be an empire! soon after the assassination the Isle of Joplin declared independence 10,000 men and 2 destroyers were sent to the island to quell the revolt.

Recruitment Center
Jakar, Inabi

Inspired by the Lord Protector's speech, Wei Jin headed straight to the recruitment center for the Inabian military. If war was coming, he wanted to be the first in line to kick some Central Power ass. He wasn't the only person with this mentality, there was a long line coming out of the recruitment center, every single one of them thinking the exact same thing. Taking his place at the end of the line, he daydreamed about all the glorious adventures he would have in the army. Gunning down all of his enemies, going to exotic new places, meeting exotic new woman, and being awarded a medal by the Lord Protector himself for his bravery. Most of this wasn't very plausible, but a young man can dream. Man after man signed his life away to the military, all wanting all the glory of himself. After they did so, they were given their orders and given three days to report to their training facility. After a man signed off, he turned around to meet cheers! There were high-fives all around, the same treatment for each man going into the military. Then, it was Wei's turn. He signed off his name and information, and he was now officially a member of the Inabian army. Or rather, a trainee of it. He was given his orders to go to a training center in Irai, Inabi, given three days to do all that was needed. He wanted it done with quickly, so he planned to leave on the first day. Most of his friends had already joined the military and had already been sent to a training center. So, he said his good-byes to his family, packed his things, and went on the next train to the training center.

The Imperial Palace of the Lord Protector
Jakar, Inabi

Shortly after he had made his speech, new information reached the Lord Protector. The telegram was clear, the information in large bolded letters. "The Holy League of Augsburge has invaded Vostria!" The Lord Protector smiled, it was exactly what he had been waiting for. The entire country was in a patriotic fervor, there was no better time to intervene. He called in his council and several of his top ranking military generals. As they all took their seats, with the Lord Protector at the head of the table, he began the meeting. It comprised of his intentions to intervene in the war on the side of Vostria. Like every common citizen of Inabi, each of the advisor and generals were eager to get into a war against the Central Powers. The only question was how they would get into Vostria. Between them and Vostria was China. There were problems with China ever since the Holy Empire of Inabi invaded Korea. The annexation made them feel anxious, and therefore, they had sent a vass number of troops to the border. They would be in no mood for a negotiation of a Right of Passage. However, with Eastern Russia, they had better relations. A Right of Passage would be easy to negotiate, and he sent one of the advisors to do so.

Secondly, they would have to transport vast numbers of troops overseas to Eastern Russia. The ships were already stocked and ready to go, all that was needed was to get the troops in there. He sent another one of his advisors to go and send a communication to all the military instillations in Inabi to get their troops, tanks, cannons, aircraft, and all the others onto the ships. There was no need to rush the new recruits onto the ships just yet, though the time may come where that is needed. Strategy would not be formulated until the troops are closer to Vostria, not just yet. He dismissed the council, The Holy Empire of Inabi has mobilized for war.

Private Pavel Melnikov was busy digging a trench, or at least trying too, in the frozen gound. The bitter cold attacked his unprotected nose and fingers and they were numb with the cold. The Vostria winter was coming to a close and at least in the next few days the cold would die away but unfortunatly for Pavel, and the other troops around him, that didn't mean they could stop digging. They had spent a few weeks now on the Western Front, he had been sent there after basic training which mainly consisted of shooting practice and charging across a field and stabbling a wheat sack with his bayonet. The entire 63rd Regiment had been preparing defences for a while now just like the many other regiments spread upon the defensive line from Belarus in the North and through Ukraine. Some called it paranoia of the shaky communist government but whatever it was Pavel didn't care too much for it.

It was while Pavel was digging his trench that the guns opened fire. At first Pavel heard a faint whimper in the distance and looked in that direction. He saw a plume of smoke rise up and then a faint whistling sound. An experienced or fully trained soldier would have regonised the retort of artillary but unfortunatly the 63rd where new recruits. For that briefest moment all you could hear was the whistle of the shell and then suddenly, all hell broke loose. Explosions surronded Pavel, debris and shrapnel flew in all directions. All around his his collegues fell, their bodies shattered by the bombarment. Pavel was covered in a mix of dirt and blood. He turned to run hearing the faint sound of an officers voice caling the retreat back to the trenches but Pavel never made it back....

- - - - - -

"Sir," General Zorkin said, saluting the President. 'I have dire news.' Zorkin was in charge of the western front and had been instructed to oversee the defences. "At 11.00 local time the Augsburge people attacked our land and invaded our soil. We lost many men in the initial assault and many scattered. Our defences are just about holding but are at breaking point. The suprise of the attack caused sever damage. They need reinforcments and supplies."

"Damn it," Kerensky swore. "I know those bastards werent to be trusted. How many men have we got over there?"

"About 3 million sir, well less now, and they are stretched across the length of the line. The Augsberg have planned the assualt and have attacked and are trying to push through and cut us off."

"Right, telegram the troops to the east and south. Tell them to consolidate any gained ground and then to transfer over but make sure they keep some troops to maintain order. Get them over ASAP. As for the current situation committ the reserves and secure the supply lines. I do not want anything getting though that line. Hold them best you can."

"Sir, we have low supplies though, the supply trenches and infrastructure for the area is not up to scratch. They attacked before we had a chance of improving it."

"Try your best, and telegram the otehr nations"

- To the nations of the world -

Today Vostria was invaded by the barbaric nation of AUGSBURGE. The attack was unprovoked as I can assure you no violence was committed against them. The attack was a suprise and has led to the deaths of many citizens and soldiers on our side. We had declared ourselves neutral but the AUGSBURGE have ignored that and attacked us anyway. I ask all free nations of the world, those who stand for what is right, to aid us in our conflict with a violent and aggressive nation.

Southwestern Vostria
The waves of soldiers, clad in field gray and bayonets gleaming, charged forward. Up ahead, the last few explosions from the preparatory artillery barrage threw up mounds of dirt. Then the roar of cannons and the crash of shells was replaced by the cries of the Augsbergers as they yelled their battle cry.

"GOTT MIT UNS!" And today, God was with them as the Vostrians broke and ran, only a few veterans or men too scared to run staying behind. A machine gun chattered, and a few men fell dead. Rifle fire soon claimed the life of the gunner, and the men poured over the defenses.

The advance continued. But the leading elements of the multi-million man army were starting to encounter serious resistance, and the advance slowed a bit as the heavy artillery and reserves came forward to help break the new line of Vostrian fortifications.

AMERIKIA ANNOUNCES NEUTRALITY "NOW AND FOREVER"
Baltimore-President Hawthorn declared that the United States of Amerikia wants "no part of [the war]" in front of a large crowd in the city of Baltimore, Maryland today. He further predicted that this would be "the last imperial war" and that the end of monarchy was near. Several prominent Augsberger writers have written numerous columns denouncing President Hawthorn for his inflammatory remarks, and the Foreign Ministry has released a statement saysing that, "While [Augsberge] respects the Amerikian position of neutrality, [the Emperor] feels that the remarks concerning monarchies and democracies was unnecessary and [the Emperor] is saddened that President Hawthorn chose to include such statements in an otherwise acceptable speech."

The Imperial Palace of the Lord Protector
Jakar, Inabi

The Lord Protector sat in his office as streams of bad news came into him. The newspapers were all screaming with headlines, all none too favorable to the Lord Protector or the nation of Inabi. Still, the worst was yet to come. Inabian troops had landed on Eastern Russian soil and were now starting the trek to the frontlines. The Right of Passage agreement with Eastern Russia went off without a hitch, it didn't even take a representative. Just a short telegram requesting it was all that it took. It was unknown how the Inabian troops would do in the war, but he was still optimistic. Of course, the Inabian military was the strongest, most powerful military in the modern world. What could possibly go wrong? Of course, many leaders had that mentality and watched their empire crumble around them. However, this war would not be fought on Inabian land. At least, not just yet. He picked up one of the newspapers and skimmed over it.

Jakar Tribune

AMERIKA DECLARES NEUTRALITY - COWARDICE SMOTHERS POSSIBLE GLORY

He skimmed over the article and shrugged, they would realize what they needed to do sooner or later. He just hoped that what they realized was to the favor of the Allies. He picked up another newspaper and skimmed over it as well.

Koa Globe

ASSASSINATION IN GRADONIAN - DEATH OF AN ALLY

The Lord Protector furrowed his brow. This was unfortunate news. Although the Grodonians didn't have a very large military, they were will on the side of the allies. They had just lost their leader, and it wasn't clear where they would head on from then out. He would just have to wait and watch. He picked up another newspaper, this one interesting him the most.

Nara Times

VOSTRIANS FORCED TO FALL BACK - "NOT ONE STEP BACKWARDS?"

The Lord Protector groaned at this. The Vostrians already being forced to retreat was even more unfortunate news then the one he had just read. That means that the Vostrians, even just as the war had started, already lost ground. He hoped that the Inabian military would work more efficiently then that. He pushed aside the newspapers and headed towards the war room. There was a war strategy to create.

Nara, Inabi
Training Center

Wei Jin gasped for air as he ran through an obstacle course. Running his foot in and out of tires, climbing up a wall with only a rope to pull him up, and ducking under barbed wire. Would this even be practical during war? He had already heard from several of the veterans of war that out there, it was completely different. They would be put in horrible living conditions, and run straight into their deaths if they leave the protection of their trenches. The would often laugh and mock the obstacle course. "Why not, send someone out to make a wall for us to climb over," they would often say. Sure, not a funny joke, but Wei assumed that a soldier coming back from war wouldn't have that great of a sense of humor. The terrible thing was that the Inabian troops had already been sent out. He had wanted to be one of the first to get out there, be a veteran before any else was. Still, being the second one to be shipped out wasn't that bad either. It would take several days of training, but he would eventually become a Pvt. After that, he would rise through the ranks and become a hero! Or, you know, in his dreams he would. Still, there were these few days of training left before he was shipped out. He would have to get past them first.

The Bengerian nation had been preparing for war for years. Machine guns and trenches were principal weapons used for the preparations. The Bengerian channel had been mined. New weapons were being researched and created for anticipated war.

Tensions had been building for years. It was only a matter of time before they exploded and started a war. It would be difficult, but at least they were ready.

Sacrum, Federation of Holy Imperial States

Pvt. Goth looked out upon the holy city of Sacrum in the very north of the Federation, It had taken the marching soldiers days to march to the religious city of Sacrum. The army was to meet up with their counterparts from the far eastern city of Romanople, they would remain in Sacrum until official declaration of war was issued by the allies of Vostria and then Constantin would order them to sweep Bengera, one of Vostria's most powerful allies. Pvt. Goth gathered his things and started to pitch his tent along with other men in the main square of Sacrum.

Constantinopolis, Federation of Holy Imperial States

The Emperor and the Advisor-General sifted through the multitude of official declarations of war, newspapers declaring neutrality, and other important papers." We will hold the men in Sacrum for one week tops, we will give Vostria's allies just one weeks to declare war if not we will have to make the first strike" Constantin said not looking up from his papers. "If we strike first there could be be sanctions on us by the international community" Advisor-General Gaul whispered standing behind the Emperor. "If any nation decides they want to sanction the Federation we will march upon their lands" Constantin said. "You overestimate the power of our army" the Advisor responded. "Our army is amongst the strongest in the land, we cannot be defeated" Constantin replied. after a moment without a response from Gaul, the Emperor continued "Tell the Admirals that they are to blockade the ports of Bengera and the Gradonian Islands, we don't want Vostria's allies coming to her rescue before Augsburge finishes its sweep."

Prime Minister felt like a ton of bricks had just been dropped on him. The emperor had been assassinated, war had been declared, to say the least he was a man who looked as if he hadn't slept in months. Sitting at his desk he had sent away 10,000 troops to quell a rebellion on The Isle of Joplin which he knew would take away from the fighting that would be going on in Europe. He would also assume the role of Emperor. it was his strategies that would be affecting his Gradonia now.

Message for Central powers from the Isle of Joplin:
Central powers, this looks like it might be a long and bloody war, though we could help end it a little faster, aid our revolution and we will join you. We would be a powerful ally as we are on the doorstep of Gradonia. Together we can topple the ancient empire. We only request one thing, aid our revolution and recognize our independence.

(Due to Inactivity I'm proposing a Time Skip)

It has been precisely one year since the beginning of the War, Alliances have called up men and the fighting in the Trenches worsens, the World looks bleak as it's future is slowly being strangled by imperial aggression. Neutral Nations while many have done little to ease the suffering of those affected by the war, the first state of Total War in the World. Entire cities have been raised to the ground and people are disoriented and confused, on top of this assassinations have made leaders on edge and more wary.

Obscure popculture references abound. The current year is 2042 of the Common Era, or Anno Domini, depending.

AM I EVEN CAPABLE OF CALLING IT A FUCKING PARODY ANYMORE!?!
