Keomora wrote:"Because I have no idea how to negotiate with them and I was hoping one of you had experience. Never mind let's just get this over with." She hopped of the boulder before beginning to walk. Angela and Markus followed her and after a few minutes arrived at a large wooden hall. They entered only to be greeted by the Jahedain seated and watching. "Here goes nothing."

The two were greeted by the sight of people who looked half Asian, half White. Some had semi-modern clothing, but some looked like they were from several centuries ago.

Markus spoke up, not knowing if they even understood him. "I apologize for this trespass upon the former treaty of Gent's pass. Please forgive me."

Jahe Davmwoem wrote:"Ah, I believe it is". Pondes still seemed a little bit confused, as his responses were a little delayed. "Anywhere in the capital you want the pleasure of visiting, or would you like to go straight to my residence?"

"I'd like to tour the city actually, to meet and see our Jahenian brothers," said William, "It'd be quite the pleasure just to ride on our horses around and see the many wonders of this country."

"There is nothing to forgive," said one of the elder, a tall man, with brown eyes, black hair, wearing silk robes and leather. "My name is Yarumoro Aikori. I will be speaking on behalf of the Jahedain." He turned to Katherine.
"It has been a long time since Keomorans have entered these lands Empress Karma."
"Too long," She replied, before bowing, to which the elders responded in kind.
"Your captain has given us a word you wanted our support. And while we are sympathetic to your cause you must remember our oaths. We have protected your southern borders for over 500 years. You must convince us why you are the rightful emperor of Jahe, and why we should abandon our posts and die for you.
For Peace and Honor.

"Of course."

They rode onward for a while. Imperial Calvary escorted them.

They passed a hill, which upon it had a great white building. "There, my friend, is the Albert Memorial Library. It was not to be complete for much longer, but I placed it as the highest priority. I only hope his spirit shines down upon me. His son must be so disappointing to him."

"My friends, I could say that I am the son of Albert. But I, a coward, fled my throne. I must seem like a desperate man wanting it back. Truly, you would be right to guess so. I am not strong alone.

But I can say this. I will open this nation to open up. Too long we have trampled upon any minority that hindered our greed. Your ancestors, Elder Aikori, were among the first. But rather than face the outcomes of our choices, we would direct ourselves to a new people to trample.

I am desperate for my throne because I believe it is not my throne. It is everyone's throne. Regardless of your beliefs, I believe that there is a God, who loves every one of his children, so I should do the same if I claim to be crowned in his will. Pondes does what he thinks is right, which is why we must change. We taught him that tramping on the enemy in the name of White Imperials is to be applauded. If only we were different, if we had love, he today may be a loving man. We created him, so we must destroy him. But we can't stop there. Pondes is only a symptom. We must treat the sickness, which I want to do with your help."

Now, the library itself is quite a masterpiece. A bit like a rough sketch. Right now, it's a bit unfinished, but in time, it will be one of the most beautiful things in creation."

The elders looked at each other before whispering each to each other. They continued for a few minutes until Yarumoro turned around.
"We will support your cause. It will take a while for us to assemble but for the moment no forces of Piet Pondes shall cross our lands alive."

"Yes it will." He rode silent for a moment, then abruptly stated "I have heard you like mingling with the common man? I will take you to one of their favorite meeting places."

They rode for a few minutes, then reached a small market place. Despite the relative young age of the city, this square looked as if it were put there through a time machine. A small fountain surrounded by pine trees, and the buildings were built in the classical dutch style. There was a bakery, a bar, a chocolatier store, and a deli.

"This square is called Evergreen Square, one of the many parts of the city designed by Baron Cornelis. Did you know he was the main architect and engineer of this city? Most do not."

"These are traditional wine tarts. They are not made of wine, they are made to cut through the strength of Imperial Fire Wine. They are made of fruit and sugar, and are very sweet."

"Ten Paems each." She said. "I can give them to you for 5 however." she added as an afterthought.

I'm sorry ma'am, I don't seem to have any Imperial currency on me. Here, I will pay you in gold. I'm very sorry for the complication," William said, as he took off a decorative ring and gave it to her, "May God bless you."

Pondes made a hand motion. A suited official came and handed William a briefcase.

"Here are 100,000 Paems." With a chuckle he added "Don't spend it all at once. And with what can be found here, chocolate, wines, fresh baked goods, and deli products, all of the highest quality. We stand ready to move on when you are done here."

"Of course, in the bakery." Pondes replied. Before he knew it, his memories flashed back to Gratis. A small bakery sat on the corner, a young Piet waiting as daddy had told him to.

An argument was happening in the distance, behind the back door of the store.

His dad yelling "Damn you Georg, you owe the Veldmates 100,000 Paems. We may just have to stop protecting you."

An old man yelled back "It will be for the better when you leave!"

A gunshot was heard. Daddy then came back out, holding a small cake. "A gift for you, son. I know you know to keep quiet?"

"Yes, father."

This would not be the last gunshot he ever heard. Gratis in the 20th century was known as The Devil's Playground. Prostitutes openly wandered the streets, the air smelled of drugs and gunpowder, and the Veldmates were the true lords. Pondes knew, as he had to survive on his own after his parents were killed. His uncle, a devote conspiracy theorist, was always gone hunting clues. He made a vow to rid the city of this filth, which he was sure originated in Keomora. But a friend of his embraced the filth, and got tangled up in the web of power, lust, and fortune. Grieg Sonthers had by a miracle won a poker tournament, and used his money to buy his way up the underground ladder.

Pondes felt light headed. On the verge of collapse, he sat down at a table, looking up to see if King James had seen that or not. He prayed he didn't.

Having been looking around for the said Bakery, William was put at a loss when he looked back to see suddenly a disheveled Pondes sitting at a table. At first he began to ponder the thought of a gun-shot, but seeing no blood, he presumed it wasn't.

"Are you alright Emperor Piet?" William asked quizzically, fearing more for an active shooter than Piet's health.

Piet looked around for who spoke to him. He snapped back into reality and found it was King James. He smiled and said "Yes, William. Don't worry for me. It is simply an old man who has been on his feet all day." He prayed that William would accept that explanation.
