Putting An End To It [Closed, JSA Only]

[OOC: A response to the issue brought up in the JSA Council thread, this is closed to all except JSA members. Possibly others, although I expect a TG witha very, very good reason to become involved before you begin posting here]

Ever since the Hyperborians had made their threats against the Drej and their prisoners, The Gank Federation, there had been a great deal of unease between the star-nations who had become involved, mainly those of the JSA, the Celestial Empire and, from nowhere, the United States Of Allanea. Such was the discussions that Chancellor Azimuth was informed of slavery within the JSA, specifically within the Fourteen Commonwealths of Hornopolis. Following this information being brought before the JSA Council, it became clear that these inhumane animals were currently beyond the control of the Commonwealths government, and despite their loathing of their very existance, there was little they alone could do about it at the moment. So, slowly, and surely, fellow members of the JSA drew their plans to help the Commonwealths...

Jedi Order Temple, Krevalet, Ozymos

A thing of functional beauty, the Temple seemed to glitter against the rising sun of a September morning. Yet within, the mood was somewhat tense. The Chancellor had, on reccomendation from Master Danders, Ambassador to the JSA Council, requested that a contingent of the Order be dispatched to the Fourteen Commonwealths of Hornopolis to ascertain the extent of the slavery that the United States had accused them of. It was not something that anyone with in The Republic had wanted. To be the judge and jury of a fellow JSA member state, but if it was as bad as the Commonwealth Ambassador had told them, then action had to be taken.

Within the grand halls of the Temple, a small group walked slowly towards the hangar bay. All three were robed, and two were most definetly not human. One looked human, but his pointed ears indicated he was actually from Highever. The other was blue skinned, and had long tail-like appendages dangling from her head. She was a Twi'lek, one of many who resided on Rykan VII. The other was easily a human. And they walked and talked as most of the Jedi tend to spend their time doing these days

"Do you think this is right - investigating the Commonwealths like this?" the human, Master Relvesadar Andani asked the others as they sauntered slowly along the walkway

"It is not a question of right or wrong, Master Andani" the Higheverian, Undalmo, retorted "It is neccessary"

"Undalmo is right" the Twi'lek, Yviene,spoke up "Slavery is against the very principles of the JSA. Ever if I felt differently, which I don't, someone would have to investigate it"

Andani looked away, contemplating the words of his fellows. He had been placed in command of this investigation, and even with a large group of Jedi, some 200, and a contingent of 1000 clone troopers at his back, he still felt uneasy about having to do this. Despite this, he put these fears to the back of his mind, and he turned to his fellows as they reached the awaiting transport ship

"Andani" Yviene said, stopping him before he boarded the ship "May the force be with you"

"And with you, my friends" Andari replied, before stepping onto the transport. With a roar of powerful engines, the ship pulled away, the pressurised doors sealing as the ship headed into orbit to meet with the R.S.S Emancipator, a Liberator class Star Destroyer which would spirit them across space to the Fourteen Commonwealths. In a few minutes, the ship was secured aboard the Emancipator, and the ship detached from it's orbit and jumped to hyperspace, heading for the Commonwealth space.

[Hornopolis]

The Hoover Dam main gate, midday

"Open the gates we got a trader." the gates screech open as Commonwealth soldiers crowd the entrance searching the caravaner for anything from the Steel Plague, "Clean.'' a soldier says to the gate controller and the gaurds move back to their assigned positions, ''3-Some Caravaner, move your pack-mule to the designated zone for dropoff, payment will be there upon arrival." the gate controller pushes the red button activating the gate and it begins to close.

The Rim, middle class living quarters

Several weary Commonwealth soldiers peer into the wasteland in the direction of the Trifecta, "Movement in sector Alpha-Charlie." the soldier's eyes widen as a large dust cloud appears on the horizen, he leaps off the battlement and runs to an intercom, "Highwater Trousers, Highwater Trousers, sector Alpha-Charlie, expected hostiles."

The Hoover Dam, main battlements

The fatigued men of the 5th and 34th Rifle Brigades move slowly to their positions, tired and losing morale, "Highwater Trousers, Highwater Trousers, battlements at the ready." the gate controller locks the gate and grabs his rifle and decends the stairwell to the battlements, ''Ammo runners get your crates at the ready for deployment, think only of the battle, nothing else!" the men of the two brigades wait for the Steel Plague to come into rifle range, "Rifles at the ready! hold," the the Steel Plague's chariots cross into no-mans-land and the Commonwealth troops place their tired fingers on the triggers of their weapons, "Fire!" yells an unkown soldier from the left flank, the men sling their lead into the front ranks, rounds bounce off the enemies armour, some connecting with flesh, the Steel Plague continued the charge none the less, the Commonwealth soldiers continued to fire, not thinking of anything but the defense of their base rattling in their heads.

R.S.S Emancipator

The massive starship burst through from lightspeed and into the space of the Fourteen Commonwealths. From above the planet, the large starship looked down upon the United States Wasteland. It was hard, from this distance, to see the extent of the damage caused during the war. But still, there were large spikes of radiation here and there, although the majority of background radiation had dissapated since the inital bombings. Still, all crew who were to descend to the surface had been given innoculations against radiation poisoning.

Now, many of the task force that had been chosen to go to the Commonwealths were assembled in the hangar bay, being assigned to the various LAATs in the hangar. Each could carry a platoon of clones, and although some were worried that trying to fight the slavers would result in more deaths, the clone troopers were only there to provide security to the Jedi who were descending. Andani entered, joining up with his squad. It already had a Jedi leader (each platoon was led by a Jedi), although she quickly greeted Andani as if she were a subordinate whilst the clones stood to attention.

"Master Andani" the young Jedi greeted him as he arrived "We've recieved word. This 'Steel Plague' has launched another attack on The Hoover Dam"

"Hm. That could make things difficult for us, Lauren" Andani replied, naming the Jedi before him "Let's get moving"

She nodded and they stepped aboard the LAAT, the clones following suit and the other platoons boarding their own LAATs. Once all were aboard and the doors sealed and pressurised, the first six LAATs launched into space, heading down towards the site of the Hoover Dam.

[Hornopolis]

The Hoover Dam, main battlements/docking platform

"They're on the battlements!" a soldier yells frantically as the powered armour soldier slowly ascends the paraphet, they burst into the main area of the Hoover Dam and begin attacking the soldiers in hordes, ''Come on you apes! do you expect to live for ever!?" a sergeant yells as he mows down an attacking Steel Plague soldier, ''Push them back into the hole they crawled out of!" a Tesla Cannon fires a burst of electricity at the chariots outside the base, "Highwater Trousers! Highwater Trousers!" yells the gate controller frantically he aims the tesla cannon at the vertibirds hovering over the base, raining hot lead onto the defenders, "Delta-Charlie!" the commonwelath soldiers begin to slowly walk backwards towards The Rim, an easily defended zone of the Hoover Dam, "Defend the Rim, defend the Dam!"

SNV Lysander
The massive Terpsichore-class Battlestar finished its translation into the territory of the Fourteen Commonwealths. Agent Daniel Harris of the DSI stood waiting in the ship's starboard flight-pod with the Marines assigned to go with him in case he and the Jedi investigators needed reinforcement. On the bridge Captain Jonathan Lee noticed the signatures on his DRADIS screen. He pulled his com down from the rack above him and clicked it on. 'This is Captain Lee of the SNV Lysander to R.S.S Emancipator. May we ask what the current situation is?

[Novacron]

Battlestar Avenger

The Battlestar Avenger blinked into existance. Securing quickly from it's FTL jump, the Battlestar began to extend it's flight pods almost immediatly so that the CAP around the Battlestar could resume. Due to the fact that there was no foreseen threat to Battlestar itself, the FTL engines were spun-down and secured. The Avenger had been disaptched, depleteing the Colonial Fleets strength, yet again, to deploy an investagative team down to the planet to investigate the allegations of slavery. Settleing into Orbit of the Planet, the CIC staff watched the DRADIS screen as the two friendly-JSA alligned ships were also present. The Ships CO; Commadner Jago, ordered that the invesigation team and Marine support squad prep to deploy down to the planet to begin their investigation.

The Hoover Dam, The Rim

Through the clouds came beams of light and energy, striking the vertibirds that still remained. Soon, the origins of the blasts followed suit, dropping into hover mode above the dam whilst continuing to fire at the remaining Vertibirds. Rappell lines were deployed from the hovering LAATs and clone troopers began their descent onto The Rim to join the Commonwealth soldiers fighting a desperate battle below them. Ajusting their fire, the troopers on the ground and the LAATs turned their attention to the Steel Plague soldiers as the last of the teams, followed closely by their Jedi commanders, dropped to the Rim. They engaged the enemy with powerful blasts from the main weapons and their blasters as the Jedi drew their lightsabers, batting laser blasts back at their origin with ease.

The gate controller smiles as white-clad soldiers dropped from the sky to aide the Commonwealth troopers fend off yet another attack by Steel Plague soldiers, "Bradley McKenzie, Bradley McKenzie!" the soldiers in The Rim cheer as the clone troopers joint the fight against the malitious power armoured soldiers trying to root them out of their homes, a sudden morale boost gave the tired soldiers a new reason to defend their base, "Leapfrog defensive posture, move!" yells a major as he directs the fire of his company towards the left flank, "Move, cover Rodgers' men."

The Gate Controller shakes his head, "Jedi? the Republic?" he shakes his head and continues to fire his tesla cannon, "Highwater Trousers, rocket strike imminent."

An enemy katusha launcher fire off a salvo of rockets towards the gunships above the dam,
"Friendly gunships, there are rockets nearing your position, evasive manuevers are recommended."

[Ekilion]

Above Hornopolis
The Ekilion vessel E.N.N.S. Freehold arrived over the planet. In its holds were a few hundred soldiers who would be sent to assist in security. There sensors picked up the battle going on below on the planet and troopers rushed to thier dropships. A few lumbering Mk 28 tanks also rolled into the transports. The tranports dropped out of the ship and headed toward the surface.

Above the Hoover Dam
Ekilion Valkyrie's came out from the cloud cover. As they neared the Dam they say the ground battle going on and the rockets. Track the rocket trails came over the radio. In the lead Valkyries Castillian missles were launched at the base of the rocket trails. As the Valkyrie's came in to land the door gunners fired thier heavy bolters into any exposed enemies. The troopers ran down the ramps and set up defensive positions around the Valkyrie's. The few Mk 28's (Leman Russ with more armour (but slower)) started firing there 200mm cannons into heavy clusters of troops. They really limited their fire to there multiple heavy bolters.

A few of the first wave of clones had fallen to enemy fire, but that was nothing. As the Katyushka barrage came in, most of the gunships cleared the area and were headed back to the Emancipator to pick up more troops if needed. Unfortunately, one pilot wasn't quick enough, and his LAAT was destroyed in a huge burst of flame as it connected with a rocket. The burning husk immediately lost attitude control and spiralled down into the lake.

Meanwhile, Andari and Lauren had managed to fight their way to the person they assumed was in command, a purple clad clone commander following them. Before addressing the man they were now stood by, Andani turned to the commander

"Commander, get eyes on those rocket launchers and designate them for the Emancipator to lauch a presistion strike" Andani ordered, having to shout over the noise of battle

"Right away sir" the clone replied, pressing a hand to his ear and contacting one of his Lieutenants "Lt. Chambers, find those rocket launchers and designate for a Charlie-Echo-One strike"

<<"Solid Copy Commander, moving now">> could be heard faintly on the radio as Andani turned back to the man they'd come to see in the first place and shouted to him

"Who's in command here?"

[Nua Gealach]

With the situation in Nua Gealach space calmed, the Assassins could send operatives to assist in the investigations.

Over Hornopolis

A small rift opened in space above Hornopolis, and out came a small cruiser. On board was some dozen Assassins plus the crew. They hovered there doing nothing for a moment, then the bay doors opened, and out came an Outrider. It was small and red, with a white stripe across the hull. It propelled down to the surface, uplinking with comm beacons as it went.

Attention Hornopolis planet,

This is Fesva Goyao of the Commonwealth of Nua Gealach. We are requesting permission to land in the settlement of Hoover Dam, as per discussed at the last JSA council. We are beginning decent now, and are expected to land within the hour. Are we clear for landing? Over.

A soldier limps by holding his bleeding face in his hands, "Major Lansky is in charge, he's up in the gate control tower, damn coward." the soldier makes his way over to the aid station as a few of his comrades cover him as he limps across the street, ''Cover the corpsman!" a soldier donning a blood covered suit of combat armour motions for the Republican to follow him to the gate control tower, "Follow me and keep you head down, Lansky would love to talk with you." he moves suprisingly quick as he crouches to avoid taking a hit, "C'mon!"

With the situation in Nua Gealach space calmed, the Assassins could send operatives to assist in the investigations.

Andani and Lauren move swiftly with the soldier, keeping the sabers up and blocking incoming fire as they move across the wartorn Dam. Behind them, the whir of the a chaingun fills the air as a pair of heavy weapons troopers begin firing into Steel Plague lines whilst clone snipers begin picking off those breaking away from the main group. Still more clone troops were falling, and two of the Jedi commanders had fallen, one to the rocket barrage and one to a stray laser blast. However, revenge was at hand.

Like the very hand of God itself, a massive beam of laser fire split the clouds, running along the Katyushka batteries and taking what remained of them after the Valkyries' attack out permanently. The beam, it's work done, vanished as the Emancipator ceased firing, and Andani turned to the soldier they had reached

"You must be Major Lansky?" he called over the roar of a nearby chaingun firing

[Nua Gealach]

Fesva was worried. They hadn't planned on being able to defend a settlement, and had only brought ten Assassins, as well a vaulenteer army, only consisting of twenty five soldiers. Trained well, but she felt they wouldn't be enough.

As they went further down to the planet, they saw the dam, as well as the battle. They easily marked the Federal soldiers, and that made finding the enemy easier. They fired a few shots down from the ship before landing in the street, and unloaded.

Without hesitation, the troops and the Assassin Priests ran for the battle, trying to find a commanding officer. When they saw Republicans, Fesva was relieved, and calmed down some. Mostly, the troops just scattered to find a defendable position to fight off the attackers, this "steel plague", while Fesva went to find a commander.

[Ekilion]

As the Ekilion troops continued firing a massive torpedo came through the cloud layer and immolated a massive area. The light was blinding and when it finished the area was left as a massive crater covered in glass. The Ekilion troopers began advancing through the crater by riding on the backs of the Mk 28's.

OOC: Just so you guys know that wasn't a nuke it was a massive Melta Torpedo. Also as you guys may have noticed my people almost never initiate radio contact first. (It is mostly from a inherant honour thing (don't want to explain it))

Major Lansky nods and looks him up and down, "Lets get inside, shall we?" he nods the blood-caked soldier and he ran off back to the battle, searching for a kill, "I'm sorry you could not have come during a more peaceful time, but your a sight for sore eyes, might I ask whom I am adressing?"

The Rim

The blood-caked G.I. sprinted down the cracked street firing his gauss rifle at any steel plague he saw, he stopped when he saw a group of aliens running towards the docking platform, "The hell?" he pulls his rifle up and walks slowly towards them, "Halt! who goes there!?"

[Nua Gealach]

Fesva stopped and shouted over the noise "We are the Nua Gealachian Assasin Priest party, plus soldiers here to assist. We spoke to a Lansky before we landed. I took it that she was either a commander or a comms worker." She bowed slightly, and said "My soldiers are at your disposal. Might I ask who is in command here, and If I may see them?"

Gate control tower

Major Lansky nods and looks him up and down, "Lets get inside, shall we?" he nods the blood-caked soldier and he ran off back to the battle, searching for a kill, "I'm sorry you could not have come during a more peaceful time, but your a sight for sore eyes, might I ask whom I am adressing?"

"I'm Master Andani" Andani introduced himself, and then indicated the younger woman keeping with him as they both stowed their sabers "And this is my apprentice, Lauren Othrelas"

"Pleased to meet you, Major" Lauren added, before allowing Andani to speak again

"Don't worry about the reception Major. It's not like we're unacustomed to a warm welcome of this variety" Andani noted "We're here following the JSA Council meeting, where the issue of slavery in the Wasteland was brought up. By the looks of things though, we're going to need to police up these..."

He looked outside at the fighting. Another clone fell, and was quickly dragged away from the frontlines by a medic. After watching this, he turned back to finish his sentance

"...Rebels before we can get onto the business of the slavers"

[Hornopolis]

"I'm Master Andani" Andani introduced himself, and then indicated the younger woman keeping with him as they both stowed their sabers "And this is my apprentice, Lauren Othrelas"

"Pleased to meet you, Major" Lauren added, before allowing Andani to speak again

"Don't worry about the reception Major. It's not like we're unacustomed to a warm welcome of this variety" Andani noted "We're here following the JSA Council meeting, where the issue of slavery in the Wasteland was brought up. By the looks of things though, we're going to need to police up these..."

He looked outside at the fighting. Another clone fell, and was quickly dragged away from the frontlines by a medic. After watching this, he turned back to finish his sentance

"your preaching to a choir Master, this isn't even the worst raid they've done, their really losing numbers, anyway, your 'clones' need to assume a V formation, thats very effective in close quarters combat, O.K. i'm sitracted the Steel Plague HQ is in an old Commonwealth base, the Trifecta, thats where they multiple and attack us from, before getting Ceaser's Legion I suggest we deal the Steel Plague a huge blow, they have a bunker, Seirra Army Depot, once these basterds are all killed our retreat we should regroup and send a war party to Mariposa."

"Lansky's up in the gate control tower with some Republicans, I'll take you to his position, follow me." the bloodied soldier runs off towards the main gate and pauses reloads his R91 and turns around, "You coming, I only really need the leader, your women can aide in the defense.

"The Steel Plague are pompous fools that believe they can re-unify the wasteland through the technology left behind here by the Commonwealth, they are everywhere in The Glow and that place is a radiation cesspool, anyway they attack every week, almost everyday know a days, but if we go on the offensive then we'll get 'em good."

Sighing, Fesva thought "It is the pomous fool who thinks they can beat everyone with ease, even if they can." She saw the control tower, and said "Is that where she is? And you said the republicans are also there, am I correct?"

"Yes my friends, he is inside with two Republicans, I suggest you double-time to the tower before the Steel Plague see you, good luck my friends!" he waves and turns to run back into the battle, firing his rifle at any hostile near him.

Captain Lee had grown bored of waiting. He opened a channel to the Commonwealth base, 'This is Captain Lee of the SNV Lysander to Commonwealth base. I'm dispatching Agent Harris of the DSI and a marine escort. Please advise best location for landing. Over.'

Meanwhile the agent and Marines had begun boarding the Raptors that would take them down to the planets surface. A Scimitar bomber sat on the deck, engines ticking over, which would provide them with fire support should they need it.
