Air Force 3, Near the Enemy aircraft, In the Air, March 15, 1940

The Zeroed would not be deterred! Through countless maneuvers, the Zeros welcomed the challenge, many of which were making it a game over which pilot could down the most enemy aircraft. Those facing the the enemy aircraft head on also freely engaged in the head-on combat. Eventually, the Zeros reached the enemy fleet. (ooc: from here on I am going by what you described as the fleet's organization) The Zeros saw that the enemy placed the battleships on the outside of their fleet. A number of Zeros decided to Kamikaze the enemy battleships, aiming to hit the enemy battleships' towers (ooc: I do not know the technical term) or their hulls. Many of the Zeros chose to finish engaging the enemy aircraft at close range to ensure that if the enemy would use their AA guns, then they would risk hitting their own aircraft.

OOC: RP-wise, I plan on having my nation invade Midway*, on March 18, 1940, and Hawaii on March 21 of that same year (depending on the rate of battle).
*Midway would not be an invasion but a direct naval engagement to draw forces from Hawaii prior to the Hawaiian invasion.

Task Force 1

As the enemy Zeroes moved in close, the gunners on the SBDs and TBDs were able to get close up shots of the enemy pilots. Their cockiness would be turned against them as the gunners had the ability to pick out their engines and blast away at their virtually unarmored targets. Their tracer rounds would help ignites fires.

The fleet below opens up with their AA guns. The rattle of the 5-in/25, 1.1'/75, 20mm, and .50 caliber guns rattle out as the Zeroes and attack planes roar in over the fleet. The additional fighters from ROWS Arlington (CV-2) join the fray to take down the enemy bombers headed for the fleet. Battleship ROWS Chesapeake (BB-25) tries to take evasive maneuvers as several enemy A6M2 Zeroes roar overhead. The AA gunners on the Chesapeake manage to shoot down three Zeroes before one flies itself intentionally into the forward mast of he ship, destroying it and killing all the men inside. The second Zero struck the ship dead center of the port side into the thick belt armor. Little damage was done. The third Zero crashed into the deck just behind turret 3 on the port side, starting a fire and forcing the gun crew to fight the fires. The magazine was kept safe. Meanwhile, the ROWS North Dakota (BB-24) was struck by two more Zeroes. One crashed into her bridge behind the conning tower, killing 24. Her Captain was mortally wounded. The second hit turret four, doing moderate damage and causing smoke to fill the inside of the turret.

The rest of the ships in the Task Force form a tight ring around the carriers to prevent any of the strike planes from having an easy attack run. The fighters from Erie and the Marine fighters are to ffinish off the Zeroes while Arlington's fighters deal with the strike planes.

Air Force 3, Over the enemy Fleet, In the Air, March 15, 1940

The enemy bombers started firing at the Zeros behind them. At the same time, the Zeros were firing at them. The enemy bullets could pierce the fuselage of the Zeros, but those same bullets had a hard time hitting the engines, due to their armor set-up being designed against attacks from the front and behind. The Zeros lost three fighters in the onslaught. Some Zeros, not doing Kamikazi attacks against the enemy battleships from the side decided to Kamikazi the battleships from above, knowing the inability of AA guns to point strait up. The goal was to catch the enemy battleships off-guard by diviving hard and fast from above into the enemy ships, while they were occupied by the Kamikazi attempts from their sides. Unknown by the enemy, the target of the imperial aircraft was mostly the battleships, with the carriers only being secondary targets.

As the Zeros and enemy aircraft fought long and hard, the bombers soon arrived and began raining their large payloads onto the enemy. The experienced pilots, using skill and the latest targeting equipment, calculated where the ships would be by the time of impact and released their payloads where they calculated the ships to be by the time of impact. The goal was to take out as many battleships as possible along with the carriers before needing to get back to their carriers at Wake Island.

Groom Lake Airbase, Ascoobis, March 20th, 1940 11:30 PST

The 7.093 kilometer runway of the semi-secret airbase was in a buzz of activity this morning. A new plane from Heinkel will be taking off for further study of new mass production tactics for large aircraft in Canada. The He 177 is expected to be an improvement on the capabilities of the Focke-Wulf Fw 200 and is considered to be equal to the famed B-17 of Washinton. Along with the Fw 200, construction on the type and others will begin when the effort to uproot Ascoobis' industries eastward is completed this fall. To escort this precious aircraft and its cargo of Ascoobian schematics are two experimental fighters of the Project 1065 program, in order to further test their capabilities and six brand-new Bf 109Fs. The F-series is also scheduled to soon begin construction in Canada and Air Force factories in Ascoobian Amazonia.

Decagon, Ascoobis, March 20th, 1940 7:00 PST

As one of the operatives had turned themselves in, the airstrike was postponed. In order to not risk an escape, he is to be transported to an interment camp in New Mexico, where many of the people of Little Dragoni are being held. Two days were used to postpone the event so that the remaining operative could feel at ease.

A "silenced" Ju 87C, as in the Jericho trumpet was removed, took off from an aircraft carrier in Decagon Harbor with a 250 kg bomb and approached the section of the city labeled "Chinatown" within the disk of the rising sun in the east to approach its target building with the element of surprise. as soon as it was above its target, it performed the usual dive-bombing procedure. Nearly causing the pilot to blackout from the maneuver as the dive breaks automatically deployed. Below, the building in question was rubble. It is unknown if the second operative was within, but authorities are quickly closing in to find what information on the spy cell could be found in the ruins.

Tarn, Ascoobian Amazonia, March 21st ,1940, 08:40 UTC-3:00

The largest coastal city in the colony, Tarn could be described to be the size of Bern, Switzerland. Surrounding the small metropolis would be coffee plantations and thousands of square kilometers of Rain Forest in nearly all directions. However, the Great-War Era small arms factories in the outskirts are firing back up to manufacture for the Ascoobian Armed Forces Washintonian M1 Garands. However, due to national demand, several are being converted into tank and airplane manufactures for the Panzer IV, Tiger, and numerous aircraft designs. The surrounding forests possess the fuel necessary to keep the old coal burners burning for the expected duration of the war. Machine parts to actually upgrade the 30 year-old machinery will not be projected to be available until mid-1941.

Lake Tahoe, Iacon, Ascoobis March 22, 1940, 06:59 CST

Mere miles from the world-famous Iacon University a construction project is taking place on the city's lake. A large heavily modified cruise ship will become a "training carrier" to mass-produce naval pilots for the inevitable confrontation in the Pacific with the Dragomerian Navy. The training facility is set to open in several months. there are also plans to build train station for other sort of ships and tasks, such as a mock battleship or a submarine pen. It would help in combine training maneuvers and increase cooperation within fleets in the future.

Naval Shipyards, Vos March 23rd 1940 09:40 PST

As one of the largest shipyards on the entire Pacific coast, it is only natural that construction on the H-Class began here. All piers have been cleared to make way for this historic event. Two 300 meter keels of the "H-41" are laid onto the drydock for construction to begin. With this massive naval project, further construction of the Oblivion-Class has been paused for an indefinite amount of time. All resources meant for the continued construction of the Oblivion-Class have been rerouted here. These vessels will remain true to their name, as construction of these two ships is expected to be completed in mid-1941. It is unknown to the public at the moment what is to be the displacement of the ship will be, but it is expect that it will overtake the Dragomerian Yamato-Class by many tons. If construction is somehow derailed here, numerous cranes are at the ready to help in the delivery of the hulls, in pieces, by rail to the shipyards in New Orleans for reassembly and completion.

Hawai'i, Ascoobis March 23, 1940 09:09 H-A Time

With defenses at the ready, Hawaii awaits the eventual Dragomerian assault. The local Ascoobian fleet is at the ready. With submarines patrolling the nearby waters and the Aircraft carriers ready to flee should the battle between the battleships get too close. The Airbase has two-12 hour shifts, ready to mobilize against the enemy and in defense of the island chain within moments. Admiral Nimitz welcomes the arrival of Washintonian "jungle troops" to support the 10,000 Ascoobian Army personnel garrisoning the islands. Although he would have preferred if more artillery and supporting naval ships were delivered as well.

Sand Diego Fortifications, San Diego, March 23, 1940 11:40 PST

Trenches are being formed up an down the Pacific coast and have become the basis for planned fortifications that are to span the Ascoobian coastline. Which will lead to a second line consisting of large network of interconnecting pillboxes. Many of the defenses utilized by Nimitz in Hawaii will be a part of this grand structure. Construction of the concrete boxes could begin as early as September of 1940.

Praxus Shipyards

Ascoobis' Reserve Fleet, mostly made up of Great-War Era Battleships and Dreadnoughts is under renovation in Praxus Shipyards. As it is of low priority, it is expected to take until 1942-43 to complete. In the Pacific, but safe from any sort of attack. They aren't expected to see combat in the Pacific unless there is a dire need for ships in the surface fleets.

Kolkular Harbor, Ascoobis March 23, 1940, 12:00 CST

A lone transport arrived in the Caribbean city at 11:00. Now, a military convoy has arrived at the harbor to transport the cargo of the ship to an unspecified location. The identical ten boxes removed from the cargo ship, H.M.S. Solo, were 8 meters in length. Another 8 boxes removed were of 14 meters in length.

Imperial Palace, Darkmount March 23, 1940 14:01 PST

Emperor Jimenez is speaking by telephone to Washintonian companies based in the meat-packing center in Chicago. Negotiating the increased delivery of canned meats and other goods to Ascoobis in exchange for cattle from Ascoobis' estates in Texas. After securing the security of food deliveries to Ascoobis' military, he called on top officials of Republic Oil to dramatically increase oil deliveries to Ascoobis; which lead to long, drawn-out negotiations. After which, he began looking into major manufacturers of First Aid supplies, steel helmets, and clothing in North America. This lead to even more negotiations with the manufacturers of the GMC CCKW. One thing is for sure; there's more to winning a war then simply giving a soldier a gun, a sailor a ship, or an airmen an aircraft.

OOC: You do realize that the Kamikaze attack was a strategy undertaken by the desperate IJN and IJAAF near the end of WWII(Late 1944-Mid 1945). When they had run out of experienced pilots, planes, and carriers and were using outdated airplanes. Not something that would probably be used at the beginning of the war......Especially with the Dragomerian Navy being superior to its RL counterpart; the IJN.

SED Headquarters
The SED's lead director was furious, demanding better results in the wake of two cells collapsing, with all the Ascoobis Cells in danger of being exposed due to the agent that turned himself in. In Response, Flandre ordered for a purge throughout the Shogunate, looking for any Cells established by the ATCO.

Sea of Indonesia
Minelayers were desperately at work mining the wide Indonesian Sea along with other spots on the coastline in order to combat the ATCO submarines. They wanted to not overdo it though, and risk obstructing the main fleet. Meanwhile, the Invasion force for the Philippines were stationed at Brunei, awaiting the Dragomerian Invasion so they may step in.

Decagon Cell Ruins
The Agent in the cell at the time of the bombing was crushed under the building, and was dead by the time authorities reached him. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to burn the documents due to him being at ease with the situation. Thus, the other cells in Ascoobis were in even graver danger.

OOC: The kamikaze attacks may be a bit extreme for the moment. By the way, the Zeroes technically had NO armor.

Task Force 1

With more Zeroes incoming, the AA guns on the battleships and cruisers open up to take down as many as they can. The Zeroes coming into strafe splinter parts of the deck and shoot up some AA mounts. However, casualties are minimal to them. However, with the arrival of the bombers, the battleships do what they can to take evasive maneuver. In the bombing attack, four bombs slam into ROWS Chesapeake (BB-25), starting fires and knocking several 5-in/51 caliber gun out. When the torpedo bombers attacked, Chesapeake was hit by two torpedoes on her port side. One struck the thick TDS and the subdivision mean little damage. The second hit before the TDS just before turret one and tore open a 20 by 31 foot hole in her port bow. The damage control went into overdrive to stop the flooding, not before taking a 5 degree list to port. The ROWS North Dakota (BB-24) took four bombs, knocking out power to several boilers and reducing her speed to 15 knots. Fires also started as a result. She was then hit by three torpedoes along the port side. The TDS absorbed most of the blast, but the North Dakota took on a 17 degree list to port. The carriers ROWS Erie (CV-7) and ROWS Arlington (CV-2) took minimal damage by comparison. Erie took only two hits from the dive bombers, causing fires and knocking out some aircraft facilities in the hangar. Their damage was repaired quickly and could recover their aircraft. Arlington took a torpedo hit on her starboard side, causing some flooding but it was isolated. One destroyer, the ROWS Ritzer (DD-67) hit by two torpedoes while guarding the Arlington and sank. The ROWS Morrison (DD-79) also sank from One bomb and three torpedo hits, splitting her in half with only 14 survivors.

The Celebes Sea

The Washingtonian submarines arrive after their long trek across the Pacific. They begin their attacks on the Scarlet Shogunate's merchant fleet. They are to sink merchant ships with military supplies bound for any territory. Capital warships like carriers and/or battleships are to be targeted when presented.

The Destroyers sailed away from the convoy towards the submarines in an attempt to use depth charges, Seeing that the Torpedos would like be avoided by further submergence by the submarines.

OOC: Keep in mind, not all the submarines attack the same target nor would they be trying for well defended convoys yet. Also, just because they enter your waters does not mean you know exactly where they are.
The Celebes Sea

The Submarines break off their attack and look for less well defended targets. They dive to avoid any depth charge attacks.

One destroyer, theROWS Ritzer (DD-66) hit by two torpedoes while guarding the Arlington and sank.

Above the Enemy Fleet

After the bombers ran out of payload and ammunition started running low, the Imperial Third Naval Air Force decided to retreat back to the carriers at Wake Island. They lost some aircraft but were satisfied with the damage they caused. the Zeros stayed behind the bombers to keep enemy aircraft away.

Task Force 1

All aircraft are ordered to land in order to rearm, refuel, and access the damage. The battleships Chesapeake ad North Dakota which have taken considerable damage are ordered to travel to Pearl Harbor in the Ascoobian Hawaiian Islands. They are to undergo temporary repairs before being sent home to Bremerton for a full overhaul. The rest of the fleet reverses course and steams towards Bremerton for refitting. Four destroyers accompany the battleships.

The Celebes Sea

The Submarines break off their attack and look for less well defended targets. They dive to avoid any depth charge attacks.

Celebes Sea
The Convoy resumes as normal. A less defended convoy would eventually come across the submarines.

Alexandria, District of Washington, March 18, 1940

President Hetzer sits down with his joint chiefs, General Secretary of Defense/Army/ and Navy, and the heads of the State Department. Considering their options and courses available, the brass is trying to convince the president to use multiple strategies. Some in the Army believe that midway should be abandoned to free up forces to defend the West Coast. Some in all branches support defending Midway and reinforcing it more. Some believe that Hawaii is of more strategic value. The final decision is made to reinforce both Midway and Hawaii. President Hetzer and Chief of staff of the Army, General Coughlin, set aside an antire Field Army for fghting in the Pacific. They will be trained in Oregon to fight on the far islands of he Pacific. Meanwhile, more ships from the Atlantic Fleet is ordered to the Pacific to bolster the Pacific Fleet.

Task Force 1

The ROWS Chesapeake (BB-25) and ROWS North Dakota (BB-24) detach from the group with their destroyer escorts and head for Peal harbor in the Ascoobian Hawaiian Islands. With most of the listing corrected, they make steam at 17 knots after some engine repairs. The carriers head back for Bremerton to refit and rearm.

Anchorage, North Amwell, June 2, 1940

The 1st Field Army arrives in North Amwell and is unloaded from their trains. The infantry board trucks, halftracks, even riding on the tanks as they ship off to the frontline in Western North Amwell. Equipped with mostly modern gear, they prepare for their first taste of battle within the next few days. Meanwhile the 2nd Field Army prepares to finish it's training and prepare to ship out for North Amwell.

OOC: Full speed? You realize all ships travel at different speed, meaning they would be scattered over many miles. Plus, full speed for so long decreases their range and mechanical lifespan.

Midway Island Naval Air Station

Radar picket destroyers alert Midway of incoming aircraft headed for Midway. The order is given to launch all the fighter aircraft to stop the incoming wave of aircraft. Some 36 F4F-3 Wildcat fighters from the Marines and some 36 P-40 Warhawks are scrambled to head off the incoming attack planes. The island is put on full alert with all ,personnel reporting to their action stations. AA guns are mounted and the warships around the island form a ring to add their anti-aircraft firepower to aid in the islands defense. The bomber aircraft put under cover to protect them from aerial attack.

The carriers ROWS Huron (CV-8), ROWS Fredericksburg (CV-3), and ROWS Pioneer (CV-5) take up position about 100 miles northeast of Midway. They remain in position to ambush the Dragomerian fleet and provide assistance to the island's defenses. The battleship squadron of ROWS St. George (BB-27), ROWS Wyoming (BB-21), ROWS Aurora (B-16), and ROWS Washington (BB-28) is sent to aid Midway directly b guarding the island.

AS Dragomerian forces move inland they find booby traps and IEDS slowing their assault finding it difficult to advance. Washington's 1st air force does a exceptional job at fighting off dragomerias fighters and bombers while North Amwells pilots instead go after supply lines and ground support. dragomeria takes losses before evening facing the actual line that follows the Yukon River where Amwell has entrenched its forces and Washington has sent it 10 divisions to support. not just military forces are attacking Dragomeria but resistance groups made up of citizens are popping up left and right to fight off the invaders further slowing the advance as Dragomeria has to go door to door routing out the resistance fighters leading to further casualties.

Near Midway, Pacific Ocean, May 18, 1940

The large number of aircraft, having 210 aircraft in the air, flew directly towards Midway. They soon encountered the enemy aircraft. The large number of fighters faced them head-on, while a number of fighters stayed back to accompany the bombers to protect them while those aircraft performed their mission against Midway.

Near the Enemy Lines, North Amwell, March 1940

The land forces in North Amwell marched mostly unimpeded, excluding the occasional explosion caused by enemy IEDs. The constant surprise attacks by enemy civilians only increased the resolve of the Imperial Forces, who promised to take their revenge out on enemy soldiers. In the air, the Imperial Air Force was largely unimpeded by Washintonian attacks against them, having suffered minimal losses from Washinton's 1st air force. The Imperial Air Force continued to patrol the skies over the Imperial Ground Forces as well as conducting air raids over enemy fortifications and encampments. North Amwellian attempts at targeting Imperial supply lines were also thwarted due to heavy protections by AA guns and imperial fighter aircraft. The Army would reach the enemy lines in a few days, and the Army had every intention to use their tanks, guns, and artillery to the fullest. Because of guerilla attacks against Imperial Forces, soldiers were posted to look out and search for enemy guerilla fighters.

OOC: Keep in mind, zeroes taking on a Wildcat or a Warhawk head on usually ended up going horribly wrong for the Japanese. They did not have the armor to go head on with most allied fighters. As for the guerilla fighters, how does their attack exactly strengthen their resolve? They typically do the opposite effect. Especially since your emperor claimed that they would flock to them.
Near Midway Naval Air Station

The 36 F4F-3 Wildcats and the 36 P-40s pounce from above, trying to dive through the formation to hit the bombers. Using their altitude advantage, they drive through with enough speed to get past the Zeroes and roll around for another pass using the speed built up in the dive. Almost like a roller coaster, they try to use their raw speed and armor to their advantage.

New the Yukon River, North Amwell

The 1st Field Army nears the battle zone. Artillery is being put into position and the tanks of the 1st Armored Division lead the charge towards the Yukon river, where the Dragomerians are headed to cross into Central North Amwell. Infantry forces are equipped with ammunition and the commanders start to put their battle plan together. All the while, the 2nd Field Army begins to board trains to get them into North Amwell. The additional five divisions of the 2nd Field Army will give Washington a real presence in North Amwell.

Airspace over North Amwell June, 3, 1940

The 1st Air Force, after initial air combat, prepares to start the first bombing raids of the war. The 19th Heavy Bombardment Squadron of the 1st Bombardment Wing prepares their 72 B-17Es for a mission to hit a supply depot for the Dragomerian Army just 100 miles to the east of Nome, North Amwell. They will fly to an altitude of 25,000 ft and carry 12 500lb high explosive bombs. They are to be protected by 36 P-40 Warhawks for fighter cover.

Above Midway, Pacific Ocean, March 18, 1940

Using their maneuverability to their advantage, the Zeros avoided the F4F-3's, while firing at the enemy aircraft when their guns were turned away from the Zeros. The Zeros not fighting the F4F-3's were engaging the P-40's. The bomber aircraft continued onto their designated targets on the island itself. Meanwhile, the fleet got within range for the battleships to be able to fire their guns at the Island of Midway.

Above North Amwell, June 1940

The Imperial Air Force was patroling the skies, when a number of Zeros found a large number of enemy bombers flying at an altitude lower than them. They immediately alerted nearby imperial aircraft to the threat. A large number of Zeros answered the call. To take out the bombers, 100 Zeros directly engaged them from above, while another 100 Zeros engaged the fighters escorting the enemy bombers.
