OOC: Agreed!
Air Force 3, Near the Enemy aircraft, In the Air, March 15, 1940
The Zeroed would not be deterred! Through countless maneuvers, the Zeros welcomed the challenge, many of which were making it a game over which pilot could down the most enemy aircraft. Those facing the the enemy aircraft head on also freely engaged in the head-on combat. Eventually, the Zeros reached the enemy fleet. (ooc: from here on I am going by what you described as the fleet's organization) The Zeros saw that the enemy placed the battleships on the outside of their fleet. A number of Zeros decided to Kamikaze the enemy battleships, aiming to hit the enemy battleships' towers (ooc: I do not know the technical term) or their hulls. Many of the Zeros chose to finish engaging the enemy aircraft at close range to ensure that if the enemy would use their AA guns, then they would risk hitting their own aircraft.
OOC: RP-wise, I plan on having my nation invade Midway*, on March 18, 1940, and Hawaii on March 21 of that same year (depending on the rate of battle).
*Midway would not be an invasion but a direct naval engagement to draw forces from Hawaii prior to the Hawaiian invasion.
Task Force 1
As the enemy Zeroes moved in close, the gunners on the SBDs and TBDs were able to get close up shots of the enemy pilots. Their cockiness would be turned against them as the gunners had the ability to pick out their engines and blast away at their virtually unarmored targets. Their tracer rounds would help ignites fires.
The fleet below opens up with their AA guns. The rattle of the 5-in/25, 1.1'/75, 20mm, and .50 caliber guns rattle out as the Zeroes and attack planes roar in over the fleet. The additional fighters from ROWS Arlington (CV-2) join the fray to take down the enemy bombers headed for the fleet. Battleship ROWS Chesapeake (BB-25) tries to take evasive maneuvers as several enemy A6M2 Zeroes roar overhead. The AA gunners on the Chesapeake manage to shoot down three Zeroes before one flies itself intentionally into the forward mast of he ship, destroying it and killing all the men inside. The second Zero struck the ship dead center of the port side into the thick belt armor. Little damage was done. The third Zero crashed into the deck just behind turret 3 on the port side, starting a fire and forcing the gun crew to fight the fires. The magazine was kept safe. Meanwhile, the ROWS North Dakota (BB-24) was struck by two more Zeroes. One crashed into her bridge behind the conning tower, killing 24. Her Captain was mortally wounded. The second hit turret four, doing moderate damage and causing smoke to fill the inside of the turret.
The rest of the ships in the Task Force form a tight ring around the carriers to prevent any of the strike planes from having an easy attack run. The fighters from Erie and the Marine fighters are to ffinish off the Zeroes while Arlington's fighters deal with the strike planes.

The enemy bombers started firing at the Zeros behind them. At the same time, the Zeros were firing at them. The enemy bullets could pierce the fuselage of the Zeros, but those same bullets had a hard time hitting the engines, due to their armor set-up being designed against attacks from the front and behind. The Zeros lost three fighters in the onslaught. Some Zeros, not doing Kamikazi attacks against the enemy battleships from the side decided to Kamikazi the battleships from above, knowing the inability of AA guns to point strait up. The goal was to catch the enemy battleships off-guard by diviving hard and fast from above into the enemy ships, while they were occupied by the Kamikazi attempts from their sides. Unknown by the enemy, the target of the imperial aircraft was mostly the battleships, with the carriers only being secondary targets.
As the Zeros and enemy aircraft fought long and hard, the bombers soon arrived and began raining their large payloads onto the enemy. The experienced pilots, using skill and the latest targeting equipment, calculated where the ships would be by the time of impact and released their payloads where they calculated the ships to be by the time of impact. The goal was to take out as many battleships as possible along with the carriers before needing to get back to their carriers at Wake Island.
