Oh alright then. The Watchlist is sort of a code to a program in RSIS, where we take note of Local and Foreign people of key interests, say Nuclear Scientists, foreign politicians, possible spies, and criminals. The person that I'm going to see in the records at the Capitol building could be a prominent Atnaian citizen present in the Watchlist who worked at the black site. So finding him could leak more information about the site, and could also lead to conflict with fellow spies.

The only person I can think of is Armin Painter, former Director of RISA and current member of the Hegemonic Quorum, as he was a Cavalier overseeing the operation. But that might be escalating this too high and moving the purview of the RP away from the intended focus on Merrit Isle. I dunno. Also, don't know how that info would have been there...if you have any suggestions.

Could I have the name of someone who would know where the waste was stored or what nuclear material I could have? Plan to ransack his house.

So, those headlights I mentioned could either be Unit 1088 of Ostehaar's, or an Atnaian patrol.

Atnaia, since my guys are following yours, I assume we can simply say they kept following them in various ways to the ship and back, so they could track them to the meeting at the city hall? Also, how are you with my guys successfully bugging yours somehow?

You want your unit 1088 to meet up with my guys as they hide in a ditch?

Hmm, haven't started their story yet, so I have no explanation for how they got to where your guys are... But I guess we could skip to that.

To a foreign individual, they'd appear like engineers and construction workers on their way to examine destruction in areas close to the reactor or in the reactor compound, and they'd avoid contacting other, suspicious looking people, hiding in ditches. If you'd try to talk to then, they'd pretend they know nothing important and just doing their job. :)

So basically you can either follow them, impersonate survivors and ask for a ride to that direction (they'd agree), or attack them. :P
I won't be able to post today, so if you want you can use what I said to advance your plot.

I think I will allow them to drive by. But it provides an IC oppurtunity for your team to be there. They won't notice my novice guys I hope

I just realized how funny it would be to find someone hiding in a ditch and be like "So whats up? Want a beer?"

Hmm, I'm not quite sure as to what the standard procedure for such things IRL is. I'd expect that the most info you could glean from the computer and stuff would be personal e-mails, maybe with some sideways mentions of the rods. I mean, it was Chantler's home, right? Not his work location. I doubt he'd be lugging around too much highly classified info, unless he was already looking at...

OH! there's an idea actually. What if Chantler was already looking at selling off rods, under the table. And you sort of stumble on that information through the info on thee drive: e-mails to contacts and whatnot. Might lead you to someone on the isle with legitimate info.

That depends on the time which has passed since use. Generally, the rods are kept for a relatively short period of time (can be short as few weeks) in a pool next to the reactor's core (usually called "spent fuel pool"). Then they would probably be transferred to an interim storage facility and placed in some kind of a pool there as well. The water in those pools provide both cooling (as the rods continue to generate heat as a result of residual radioactivity) and shielding to protect the environment from residual radiation. After at least a year of cooling, the rods may be moved to dry cask storage.

The used fuel discharged from reactors contains appreciable quantities of fissile and other radioactive materials, which can be chemically separated and recovered from the used fuel for further use. For example, the long-lived fission and activation products can be used for research, and the useful radionuclides and noble metals are valuable for industrial and medical uses. Some of the waste is so dangerous that it has to go through a "medium-term storage" phase before buried in a deep geological repository. The process of separating those products from the used rods is called "nuclear reprocessing".

The Plutonium in the rods can be extracted (if one has the technology to do it) anytime - Even when the rods are hot (only in that case the handling would require heavy and expensive equipment for environmental and personal protection).

So we can assume that Chantler was probably going to fudge some numbers during transfer between the reactor and interim storage, or between interim and dry cask, to ensure that a missing rod or two would go unnoticed. The information on his plans could be available on his drive and in his notes, but not the actual locations, which could lead to your next round of investigation.

OH! What if he was planning on selling it to SOAR or another terrorist organization who had managed to cobble together a bomb but needed radioactive material to get it to work. They could be holed up in the old Atnaian missile silo or something, which is where things could lead after the nuclear facility. The old blacksite could actually be at the silo, and the terrorists don't even know it.

That's exactly what I was thinking about him selling it to SOAR. I'll definitely do something like that today.

I kinda want Leslie to get caught and for an alarm to be raised as they discover the fence has been cut. Then we'll be on a countdown as soldiers swarm the building.
