Heheh. I love it. Though- it would be join the miles, or legionnaires.
Being a Centurion is not a choice. Those who win the genetic lottery are conscripted at a young age (i.e., infancy), and replaced by a clone.

The Auxilia, or Auxiliaries are recruited from all unwed men and women (only a percentage of them are conscirpted though. A stable breeding population is required to make more soldiers), conscripted at the age of twenty-one for a twenty year tour of duty. They get pension and other benefits at the end of it- assuming they survive. If they are noncitizen, they also get citizenship and its benefits upon the completion of their tour of duty.
The Miles, or Legionnaires, are all volunteers. They sign up for upwards of thirty years. Noncitizens cannot sign up. For those with families who sign up, greater benefits than those given to auxilia are given to them and their families. Think, the army from Starship Troopers (the book, not the movie) mixed with Roman legionnaires mixed with kasrkin.
Centurions have been explained above. They exist solely to fight, and as such have different benefits and pay than auxilia and miles. (Though older Centurions can take on roles befitting those of their experience level. Felix is an example of this, being the Primus Pilus, or first spear. He's the leader of all ground forces in the 42nd, and one of the advisers to Septimus, the admiral of the fleet.)
Hope this helps ^w^

Yep! Military service is mandatory. They're like stormtroopers from Star Wars mixed with IG from WH40k and probably some other stuff I can't remember. Loyal, dependable cannon fodder. They aren't useless, they're just regular, and in a multiverse with beings able to come back to life with no effort, tear your soul to shreds with nary a whisper, and all manners of horrible beasts and 'Magic BStm', being normal isn't good for ensuring survival.
Good thing there's lots of them!

Actually the strom troopers are really that bad, just in he movies they where told to miss to keep Luke and the group alive so they can track him to the Rebel base in Yavin 4. But I see your point.

Wrecked as in gone? Or just severely damaged? IC-ly my scanners would be able to see how strong they still are, but since they're your ships I can't dictate that in my posts you see, cos I got plans for when they go down.

These is kinda long, so I do hope those who read it don't feel like they wasted their time. If it did feel like a waste of time, well, free internet hug? :cI like being the underdog. I like my nations being corrupt, incapable, understaffed/underfunded and unable to respond to threats properly.
It gives me an excuse to give my characters trouble when dealing with their own nation, or dealing with outside threats.
Screw perfection! The best situations are when the odds are stacked against you both on the interior and exterior, and yet still surviving against the impossible odds provided. Its why I love Lovecraft, its why I love Mass Effect's Reaper War, its why I want to fight the Doom Legions/Vektra! I don't want to lose my characters or entire nation, but losing entire fleets and armies and horrifying my own character(s) which then develop them into experienced individuals? Fuck yes. And being the underdog and surviving is complimentary to me, it means even against all odds, giving the middle finger to things that have literal gods on their sides can be a courageous act, perhaps overly stubborn, but still brave. (Heh, as they say, the line between bravery and stupidity is rather thin)
Mind you- I'm not saying have gods or being powerful nations is bad! Its the polar opposite honestly; I love nations that are super powerful because I love fighting them and losing again and again. It allows them to show their power, while allowing me to write my own miniature plot about people losing hope, but still being able to maintain it for whatever reasons appear. Its why I joke about invading people, I'll lose obviously, but then I can have a plot where those soldiers attempt to survive and escape! Like Killzone 3! (Admittedly without the whole "I'll blow up yer' planet" in the end)
Without a army, without guns, without hope, without allies. The most horrifying thing to fight is an enemy who has lost everything- and is still willing to kill every single one of your soldiers and civilians to the end. I like being that kind of enemy.
Aaaanyways, when we talk about my nation idea? 'Eh, I think one or two people in this thread may have seen me before. They would know that Farledor hasn't changed at all, it's just one giant isolationist, corrupt, paranoid nation that goes to war out of fear of change. It doesn't resonate with my politics at all (I'm both an anarchist and not- I'd explain my philosophy and politics, but I don't have to the energy to nor would anyone be interested) I just decided to mock a overly capitalist society with a nobility and autocracy. And then have that autocracy be my tool to a corrupt leadership, which then leads to a dictatorship, which then leads to stupid decisions that get my characters into trouble. Like massive pointless wars over paranoia!
I create my own universes for every forum/thread/universe thing, Farledor is just one of many ideas, I have no future plans for it. But it is a great spot for me to test my own sci-fi ideas!
You my friend, make a fair point *thumbs up*

So I decided to do a table of my military structure.
The numbers got astronomically big, really fast.
A theatre seems like it would be only ever used in extra galactic war.

I think the total amount of troops I have in this RP is a Corps, and this RP is only in a single system so the 13 Billion would be for extra galactic war, not inter system war.

Well, I guess his units has nothing to do with the old roman organization. Times changes, and maybe, in Gaia's military organization, a Centurion is just a title, used to honor that unit of the roman time? Or perhaps just an honorific title. Well, for me, for what he said a centurion is in his army, I would have called them Praetorians, and use them as the VIP bodyguards, and as the elite unit of every army.
But is his nation, so he does whatever he wants with it. I like your lore, Gaia, btw. Instead of a multiversal empire, I would have loved more that Gaia owns a whole galaxy, somethink like the Empire in WH40k (but that is coz I find boring playing as a multiversal nation, as you will never suffer from wars and wathever, as you have an unlimited suplied of resources and lives to spare)

This is what I used it for.

Also, for everyone's information the [TR] tag adds a new row, while the [TD] tag adds a new line to the row, so do not be mistaken, just because the template only has one line per row, doesn't mean you can't add extra lines to your own rows.
