Thomas squinted when Sangmin introduced himself as a Vancouvian intelligence operative. What kind of spy reveals his true colours to complete strangers? Thomas was suspicious of the man, and his suspicion only grew when another man made his appearance at Sagmin's side, introducing himself with a forced smile as a 'self-employed investigator' without giving a name. Just what kind of people had Thomas and Skylar run into here?

"I'm Thomas Cookson, reporter for an Agadarian newspaper," Thomas said. He wasn't going to reveal his ulterior motive for being here: finding his brother-in-law, who had been working in Deep Haven as a biologist before going missing. "Have you found anything of interest yet?" he asked.

"Nice to meet your acquaintance. However, I have not acquired anything of interest, other than a destroyed labratory." Mendoza said, intending to keep the communications device hidden from others.

The moment Ramun heard Roxanne dropping down from the tree he turned around, completely surprised, and fell to the ground. He yelped and threw his hands forward in an attempt to defend himself from whatever was coming. "Don't," he shouted, "I'm Ramun, from Minar!"

Roxanne pulled the punch before she hit the man, although his sudden drop had left her swinging wildly at mid air, leaving her open to falling over. She regained her balance quickly and said, "You tell me you're not the one responsible for the kidnappings, and I might believe you. Give me information, and I'll be more convinced." She kept her guard, maintaining a defensive stance over the man lying on the ground. He did look scared, and maybe he wasn't responsible, but she needed to be sure.

Spotting the movement inside the room, Mart-jan armed his pistol and pushed open the door. He walked in.

The door slammed to the wall right next to it, and the sound was immediately followed by the noise of a person dropping items on the floor and moving to the back of the room. "Don't shoot!" a male voice said in the dark, "I'm not a local! I'm not armed!"

Ramun crawled a few meters away on his back in an attempt to move away from Roxanne, but he was too old and weak, and fell on his back again and grimaced in pain. "my god, woman!" he said with a sigh, "I am not posing a threat to you, and you are violently assaulting an old man. Look at me, of course I have nothing to do with the disappearances!"

"I already gave all the information I had to the last foreigners who came to see me. You can find them in Alpha Site right now and ask them what you want, because I have no more information to give. I can tell you all about the disappearances from the point of view of a village elder - Nothing more."

As he spoke, the blinding lights of a second car illuminated the road. "Oh, there is the person I was waiting for. Now, will you please leave me alone to my businesses?!"

He turned towards the man. "To top it all off," Thomas added, "You haven't even told us your name yet. How about we start with that?"

He was relatively pale and an impressive gray beard covered the lower half of his face, the other half being completely bald. He wore thin-framed glasses over his light blue eyes, and an old dark-green military jacket. "Can you set the pistol down now?" he asked with a perfect English accent.

The man lowered his hands and sighed, casually approaching Mart-jan. "My name is Robert Englebert. I'm a chemist, and I... I used to work in this facility. When others started to leave and some started to disappear, I resigned and found refuse in Gurnam, with several local families. Since then I've been secretly living here with the Tuomi, so every now and then in my spare time I return here and try to gather more information on what really happened."

We have found identification on him, of one Dr. Sean Mirkwind. We have also found letters from said doctor to an Oster journalist, who went missing a few months back. There were also documents that mentioned the other facilities on the island. We were just heading out when you caught us, or rather when we heard you in the hall. I believe we are going to go to another facility." He looked over towards Sangmin, "Correct, yes?"

Robert chuckled. "I see," he said calmly, "let's hope he doesn't attack me, eh?" He then stepped closer to Mart-jan and shook his hand. "I guess now I won't have to hide anymore."

Roxanne apologised to the man, and started down the road away from Minar. A few yards down the way, she found another tree and settled down for what she hoped would be an undisturbed few hours of sleep.

Quite surprised of her reaction, Ramun stood back up and nodded in understanding. "Thank you, I assume. Have a good night."

He walked away from Roxanne and approached the car, which was gradually slowing down to a halt. "Abe," he called at the driver, "Let's go to talk elsewhere." He tilted his head a bit to the back and sideways, signaling to the driver that they weren't alone there near the road. The man opened the door and let Ramun in. "Thanks, Abe."

"No, actually it would be better if you do not hide from me. Our adventure has made me a little paranoid, and I do not want to confuse you for a native. All but one of them I have meet has tried to attack me. So what have you found out?"

"What do you mean?" Robert replied, "about what? This island is so fucked-up that it's hard for me to point out what exactly is wrong what what..." He took a deep breath and exhaled. "Since they closed us down I've been coming back here once in a while trying to find information about the director of all research stations. I mean, every site has its own manager, 'Alpha Manager', 'Delta Manager', etc., but there's a... Let's call it 'Manager of Managers', who should be responsible for everything that's going on around here... At least that's my theory."

"So I've been looking for him. Currently this is as far as I got." Robert help up a paper containing a formal letter from "Alpha Manager" to an individual nicknamed "General director". The letter was about a year old and referred to a resignation of some of the researchers. "See?" Robert asked, "this has to be him!"

From the back Angela continued to observe until a young female voice said:" Who are you?"

The young woman slowly came closer. "You weren't here two hours ago," she asserted, "so who are you? What are you doing here?"
