Vostria today declared its independence from what the people are calling ‘the tyrannical reign of the Tzar’. Tzar Sergei Dusan was overthrown as a popular uprising occurred throughout the nation. The people, some armed, raided the Imperial Palace in what has been dubbed by some political commentators ‘the greatest public movement in the history of Vostria.’ The mob broke through the main gate and began to search the building for the Tzar’s family with the intention, some thought, of placing them under popular arrest to face trail. However, the family hasn’t been found and many believe they have fled the nation.
The uprising comes after many years of popular unrest. The Tzar has been accused of being a puppet of foreign powers and using the nation’s economy as a personal bank account. It appears that much of the revenue and products made by the nations industry where used by the monarchy to secure personal relations and strengthen their own position within the world.
This in turn meant that the people of Vostria never saw the fruits of their labour as the money created was not put back into the nation but was rather kept by the royalty or invested in foreign businesses. This meant that the economy and industries of Vostria was on its knees struggling to cope with increasing social and domestic problems.
The education system and health system was dangerously underfunded and the military and police forces had slowly shrunk leaving the nation under protected and at serious threat from foreign aggressors. It appears that the Tzar’s announcement of increased taxes finally sparked the popular discontent which was further provoked by speakers within the crowds. The main squares of the capital where swarmed and soon pockets of violent elements where persuading the crowd to overthrow the monarchy.
The Palace Guard did little to resist the public and it is thought that the military throughout the nation laid down its arms. At 11.00, Alexander Kerensky, a local revolutionary and political thinker gave an announcement from Red Square, the biggest city square in Vostria and situated in front of the Imperial Palace.
“I hereby declare that the state of Vostria is now an independent entity. I ask all nations of the world to recognise this great state and assist us in redeveloping and the rebuilding of our proud nation. I ask the people of Vostria to return to their homes and carry on best as possible. I and a number of great political and public figures from Vostria are to begin discussions as to how the nation is to go forth. Until that time I declare a state of martial law, all crime will be punished and so I ask for an end to continued violence that the recent years have seen.
I fear foreign aggressions and so I ask all free nations of the world to come to our aid both military and economically. I will also publically announce that the Tzar has fled the nation and so I declare him and his family public enemies of this state. They must not be harmed; I repeat they must not be harmed. They may have caused much pain but we must remain civilised, especially in this time of turmoil. I ask every nation to refuse the Tzar entry and return them to Vostria for a public and fair trial.
No longer shall Vostria be a puppet state for the corrupt and oppressive powers of this world. Vostria shall be a state for its people and it shall endure for years to come!
