The Rebooted Star Wars Galaxy
Welcome, welcome, welcome - one and all to the new reboot of the NS Star Wars Galaxy. The galaxy was recently rebooted because its been around for so long (since 2002) and that in its former state, the SWG kind of became old and decrepit -- an old man's just waiting for a strong breeze to come across and kill it. But now, we've revitalized it and everything - and I mean everything - is new and improved.

Rules!

• New players get to choose one full sector to claim as their own.
• Veteran players would get to choose three sectors to claim as their own. This is to represent the longer amount of time and experience that those various nations have put into the SWG and their veteran status.
• The Clone Wars never happened. Palpatine never became Emperor. Alderaan was never blown to hell. Etc. There is a new Timeline (seen below) that this group follows.
• There are several NPC regions and qualifications: Hutt Space is, as before, out of bounds to any claims. Coruscant is also out of bounds and will be NPC controlled. Coruscant is now home to a SWG version of the United Nations, call it the "Galactic Conclave," but it was destroyed and replaced by the Principality of Coruscant. All of us were part of the Galactic Concalve, but no one entity in the galaxy controls it or the planet Coruscant directly. This is meant to create some incentive for political cloak and dagger and other fun RP ideas that can be created.

Galactic Timeline & History
Although we are not strictly following Star Wars Canon for this RP galaxy of ours, it was required that we make a timeline of sorts so that people know how to fit themselves into the SWG without fretting about continuum problems or anything like that. Feel free to rp as a SW-canon entity or a completely original one. Just keep in mind the timeline! Things have already, technically, happened that you should be aware of!

Timeline
Note, that the timeline uses the acronym "BPD" which means Before Present Day. Once we get this thing going it will be "the present day." This is for ease of understanding and so I don't have to use the whole "Before the Battle of Yavin" meter that SW canon uses. We're rebooting and Yavin never happened, after all.

So as for what "right now" would be, we're somewhere between Episodes III and IV, but not really. Time is fluid, remember that.

• The galaxy is formed.

• Life begins to form on various planets.

• The Columi achieve interstellar travel for the first time. They will do this again in 100,000 BPD.
• Wookiees begin to evolve on Kashyyyk.
• Beggar's Canyon is formed on Tatooine.

• The Pelgrin construct their Oracle. It lasts for some two million years.

• The planet Coruscant is now covered entirely by its principal city, later known as Galactic City. At some point, apparently before this coverage by the city, the battle between the Taung and Zhell occurs on Coruscant, after which darkness covers the planet for two years due to an erupting volcano.
• The Sith race begins to develop their culture and civilization on the planet Korriban.
• The Columi, after re-learning the art of interstellar travel, survey Coruscant and Duro, dismissing them as "primitive" disappointments.
• The Kwa construct the Infinity Gate and the Star Temples on Dathomir.
• The Killiks settle upon Alderaan.
• Civilization on Goroth begins with an agricultural society.

• Utapau is colonized by humanoid species that would later evolve into the Pau'an and Utai species.

• Philosophers and scientists from several star systems gather on Tython to share mystical knowledge. The Force is discovered.

• The Infinite Empire of the Rakata, which uses the Dark Side of the Force, is officially established.

• The Infinite Empire reaches its peak and constructs the Star Forge.
• The Killiks are driven from Alderaan and Alsakan.

• The Rakata arrive on Korriban. Adas leads the Sith to victory over the alien invaders but is killed in the process.

• A Major plague sweeps through the galaxy that kills only Rakata. As a result of this, twinned with subject species rebellions, the Infinite Empire collapses.

• The Rakatan Hyperdrive is adapted, manufactured, and widely distributed by the Corellians.
• The development of the hyperdrive expands the known galaxy. To keep order, several star systems form a democratic alliance.
• A number of violent wars are fought between the democratic alliance members and external alien empires.

• Peace is made between all of the vying powers after a catastrophic battle results in millions of casualties on both side.
• The Galactic Conclave is formed.
• Coruscant becomes the recognized center of the galaxy and is where the Galactic Conclave is based.

• The Perlemian Trade Route is founded, linking Coruscant with Ossus.

• The first war between the Jedi occurs, when some of their number are drawn to the dark side of the Force, forming the Legions of Lettow.

• First Jedi War ends.
• War between various nations is arbitrated by the Galactic Conclave.

• The Great Library of Ropagi II is built by the Ropagu.
• Madilon is discovered and becomes a principle manufacturer in hyperdrive technology.
• A Second Jedi-Sith War erupts in the Outer Rim. It ends after three years.

9,400 Years BPD

• Last recorded sighting of a Sith Lord. Korriban believed abandoned.
• Corellian and Alderaanian colonists expand into the outer reaches of the galaxy.

7,032 Years BPD

• The "Elders" arrive on Naboo and engage in warfare with the Gungans, forcing the Gungans into extinction. First recorded case of systematic species genocide.

7,000 Years BPD

• According to legend, the Mandalorian Crusaders were formed on the planet Mandalore by the Taung, Mandalore the First.
• Quermia is rediscovered by the Galactic Scouts.

5,500 Years BPD

• The first leg of the Rimma Trade Route is established by Tapani sector merchants.
• Mandalorian Crusades begin. Dozens of systems conquered with brutal efficiency.
• Marka Ragnos defeats Lord Simus and is crowned Dark Lord of the Sith. The Sith still remain in hiding.

5,475 Years BPD

• United through the Galactic Conclave, a temporary alliance of nations band together to bring the Mandalorian Crusades to a halt. The Mando leader, Mandalore the Great, is killed in battle and the Mando Empire brought to an end.

5,000 Years BPD

• The Great Hyperspace War begins when Gav and Jori Daragon accidentally rediscover the Sith, who then launch an attack against Ossus and Coruscant.
• Interstellar rivalries again lead to many nations using the conflict as cover for their own agendas.
• Battle of Coruscant.
• Battle of Ossus.
• First Battle of Korriban.
• Second Battle of Korriban.
• The Jedi Order wins the war, but Dark Lord of the Sith Naga Sadow escapes to Yavin 4 in secret.

3,964 Years BPD

• The Mandalorians grow once more in power and stage a massive invasion of Galactic Space, formally beginning the Mandalorian Wars.
• No clear consensus is reached by the member nations of the Galactic Conclave of how to deal with the Mandalorians. Too many nations wish to use the conflict for their own ends.
• The Mandalorian Wars begin.
• The Jedi Order pledges to stay out of the fight.

3,963 Years BPD

• Jedi Knights Revan and Malak discover the genocidal acts of the Mandalorians that occurred during the Battle of Cathar.
• In response, Revan and Malak defy the Jedi Council and lead a large faction of Jedi Crusaders, including Meetra Surik, to war as "Revanchists".
• The Mandalorians nearly devastate planet Duro, forcing the Duros to evacuate and relocate.

3,961 Years BPD

• Revan and Malak discover Star Maps on Kashyyyk and Korriban.
• Mandalore the Ultimate is killed by Revan at the Battle of Malachor V.
• The Mandalorian Wars end.
• Revan and Malak disappear into unknown space with a third of the Joint-Allied Fleet.

3,959 Years BPD

• The Jedi Civil War begins.
• Revan and Malak declare themselves Sith and invade known space.

3,957 Years BPD

• Revan is captured onboard his flagship, after Malak turns against him. Bastila Shan brings Revan back to the Jedi, who use the Force to strip his memories and create a new identity for him.

3,956 Years BPD

• Destruction of Taris which results with most of the planet destroyed.
• Revan and Bastila along with their companions begin to look for the Star Maps spread across four planets (Korriban, Kashyyyk, Tatooine, and Manaan) after finding one on Dantooine.
• Attack on Dantooine.
• At the Battle of Rakata Prime, Revan kills Malak in a lightsaber duel, and the Republic Fleet destroys the Star Forge.
• End of the Jedi Civil War.
• Calls are made by nations throughout the galaxy to exile the Jedi Order, claiming them responsible for the terrible wars caused by Revan and Malek. The Galactic Conclave is brought to a gridlock.

3,955 Years BPD

• The Jedi Order vows to better police their members. The Galactic Conclave is mollified by this.
• Revan disappears into the Unknown Regions.
• Sith Lords formally under Revan return to their secret ways and remain hidden from the galaxy at large.

3,655~3,620 Years BPD

• The Eternal Empire under the (Sith) Emperor Volkorion, secretly Darth Vitiate, rises to challenge both the remnants of the Sith Empire and the Galactic Conclave. War ensues.
• Through the machinations of his former lover and redeemed son, Volkorion is finally destroyed and his Empire dissolved by an alliance of convenience between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Conclave.
• As part of a peace agreement the Eternal Fleet and recovered super weapons, such as that known as the Gravestone, were destroyed. The artificial planet known as Iokath was likewise destroyed. Remaining sentient droids were given ships and allowed to depart to beyond the galaxy.
• Nearly all records of the later events -- after the overthrow of Emperor Volkorion -- were purposefully erased from every major galactic archive and library; though it is rumored that some lesser parts or repositories still retain fractions of the lost knowledge.

2,000 Years BPD

• Darth Ruin creates a new empire of the Sith when the old crumbles into decay and stagnation. He reforms it into the Brotherhood of Darkness.
• The Galactic Conclave is once again the dominant force within the galaxy at this point, with numerous new member nations rising to join.

1,026 Years BPD

• Darth Bane is born.
• A cabal of Sith Lords known as the Brotherhood of Darkness launches a galaxy-wide invasion, aimed at destroying the Jedi Order and those nations closely allied with the order.
• Coruscant is sacked by Sith armies.
• The leading Chairman of the Galactic Conclave resists to his death within the Grand Hall, his actions and speech recorded by holonet news droids. His charismatic call for arms against the Brotherhood of Darkness and sacrifice within the Grand Hall lead many member nations of the Galactic Conclave to support the Jedi Order.
• The Army of Light is formed.

1,025 Years BPD

• The Seven Battles of Ruusan occur in succession over a full year. The casualties on both sides is incalculable.
• Brotherhood of Darkness is defeated.
• Various Sith Lords break out and away throughout the galaxy.
• The Army of Light leads various groups throughout the known galaxy, chasing down the remnants of the Brotherhood.

1,000 Years BPD

• The Final Battle of Ruusan.
• The remaining Sith are exterminated on Ruusan, with the exception of Darth Bane, who starts a new Sith Order with only one master and one apprentice at a time, also known as the Rule of Two. Each subsequent Sith would bear the title Darth.
• The Galactic Conclave passes the Ruusan Reformation, setting the year of the Final Battle of Ruusan to the year zero and disbands the Army of Light, officially returning autonomy and sovereignty to various sectors.

600 Years BPD

• The Jedi Knight Allya is exiled to Dathomir and would eventually found the Witches of Dathomir there.
• Jabba Desilijic Tiure is born on Nal Hutta.

350 Years BPD

• The Trade Federation is founded.
• Ord Cestus becomes a prison planet.
• The Bothan Spynet is established.

200 Years BPD

• A Wookiee named Chewbacca is born on Kashyyyk.
• The Jedi Order feels that the Dark Side of the Force is growing strong again.
• The star Carosi destroys the innermost five planets in the Carosus system.
• Yperio Baobab creates Bab-Prime, precursor to Bab-Neo and modern-day droidspeak.
• Memory wipes become common droid maintenance following a personality virus unleashed by a member of the Baobab Merchant Fleet.

124 Years BPD

• The Galactic Conclave declares the Outer Rim to be a free trade zone after hard lobbying by the Trade Federation. Several nations however refuse to comply.

78 Years BPD

• Mos Espa is founded on Tatooine.
• The Galactic Games are instituted. It becomes galaxy-wide sporting event that occurrs on a different planet every seven years; planets all over the galaxy compete to host the Games. It included a number of different events with the fastest and skilled competing in races and contests, all of them exciting and dangerous. The Galactic Games Council organized the events from their offices on Coruscant.

50 Years BPD

• Darth Plagueis, a Dark Lord of the Sith, is forced to kill his apprentice Darth Sidious when the Sith apprentice foils in his attempts to murder Plagueis.
• The New Sith Order is founded by Darth Atrox in the Unknown Regions. Secret messages are passed unto the Jedi Order through mediaries in order to explain a splitting off of the New Sith Order from the older teachings of Darth Bane.
• Fourth Galactic Games held on Alderaan. Pod Racing becomes a recognized sport at the games.

1 Year BPD

• The Trade Federation, under the influence of a Sith Lord, blockades, and eventually invades, Naboo.
• Galactic Conclave members rise up in anger at the belligerent actions of the Trade Federation.
• An Allied Conclave Fleet arrives over Naboo with Jedi Knights and drive the Trade Federation from the planet.
• Though the Trade Federation loses its bid at forcing through its trade strategies on individual worlds throughout the Outer Rim, it manages to resist being torn apart by pressure from Coruscant.

0 Year BPD/ 0 After Massacre of Coruscant

• Forces aligned with the powers of Chaos assault and massacre millions on the fortress capitol world of Bastion of the Thrashian Empire.
• In the wake of this tragedy the Galactic Conclave meets in an emergency session. Chaos forces attack the planet of Coruscant and daemons attack the very heart of the Conclave. International Fleet units from Corellia respond in force and systematically begin an orbital bombardment that kills hundreds of thousands and compltely atomizes the Grand Hall of the Galactic Conclave -- killing the reigning president and many representatives
• Many sectors and individual governments begin making public declarations of succession and refuse to send delegates for a reformation of the Galactic Conclave.

Historical Foundation Themes

The Galactic Conclave
The known galaxy has existed like a great ocean, upturning and shifting tides that have led from countless conflicts and changes. To establish a forum through which civilized discourse may take place between the major space-faring nations of the galaxy, a Galactic Conclave was created upon the centrally located planet of Coruscant; a world held sacrosanct by nearly the entire galaxy. Every four years the great nations send their delegates, a single being, to represent their vote within the Conclave. Leading this august body are three High Chairmen, elected by popular vote by the gathered nations every eight years. Though they do not have any true power, such as a standing military or an economic bully-stick, the Conclave uses its collective members to exert pressure upon single nations to accept and conform to the desires of all. How great the galaxy trembles at the whispers of mighty empires and republics, vying for control and power.

The Jedi Order
The Jedi Order has existed since the earliest times, shifting in its purposes and powers throughout the ages. In its current form, the Jedi Order calls home the system of Ossus. There upon that ancient planet they have been established for over 25,000 years, their academy system and temples built from the very foundation stones of great mountains. Due to their Jedi Code, which has become recognized over the millenia as a moral standard, the Jedi Order is often sought out to help resolve conflicts where other parties would fail. Because they are such good negotiators and arbiters, they have been established upon Coruscant and are often called upon for advice and council by the Galactic Conclave. They hold no formal power or mandate given by the Galactic Conclave.

The Sith
Of the Sith, those hate-filled and malicious beings, few know much about. In ancient times, when the Jedi Order first grew about from the ancient planet of Tython, there was a rift between the members of that order. A conflict arose between the followers of the Ashla, or light side of the Force, and the followers of the Bogan, otherwise known as the dark side of the Force. How great and terrible were the Force Wars of Tython. Eventually, the followers of Ashla, the light side of the Force, won and went on to form the Jedi Order as we know it today. But always in the shadows and veiled darkness, there lies the cankerous hatred of the Sith. Survivors of the Bogan would continue to pass down their legacy of hatred and dark power, and every now and then great events in galactic history would be spurred on by their desire for vengeance. Though no one has ever found any evidence of an organized group or Sith Order, rumors continue to spread and be retold throughout the galaxy.

Allegiances
Empires grow and fall in the Star wars galaxy it is just the way of things, they come in many forms and have many different ideals. In the Recent history of the galaxy several power blocks have formed. These are large confederations or empires that span many many sectors and hundreds more star systems they take up good chunks of the Starwars Galaxy, dont fear that though many are open to allowing you to join their faction bloc and run part of a larger nation. When claiming space in the Starwars galaxy you can now choose swear your allegiance to a faction or remain independent and challange the larger empires.

Now its important to note that, when joining another faction bloc it does not mean that the faction leader has controll over your systems and assets They Dont. It will be up to you and the faction leader to work out how much power your sector will be given in the grander scheme of things. Its also important to note that you are no stuck with one faction if you choose to join them you can leave and join another faction or gun it out on your own if you want to but be warned there may well be consequences.

• Because a single map of the entire Star Wars Galaxy in the greatest amount of detail we could find did not exist or at least has never been found, we have resorted to using seven other smaller maps that give the most detail we can possible use. Each map shows a division of the galaxy as it is divided regionally, such as the Deep Core, Core, the Colonies, the Inner Rim, the Expansion Region, the Mid Rim and the Outer Rim. This makes it slightly harder to get a grasp of the entire galaxy as a whole, but makes regional claims more easy and since more planets are shown, we can then find the specific planets that some players will want.

That can take a lot of time for some players.

Would honestly request that you not act as if this is an alternate universe with knowledge of a different one. Think of it more as a reset button? The events that led up to your planet being attacked never happened and the Galactic Empire never existed; neither did Palps. Kind of a true fresh start for your nation.

If that is the theme you're going for, you may want to try Wild Space, or the Unknown Regions. Both areas are not mapped out very well, so there would be plenty of space to play out the undiscovered civilization.

The idea I had is that there's a thing surrounding the whole of the Taiyō System that has a funny quality: anything that approaches it from one direction, when it reaches a certain boundary point, immediately gets put on the other side of it. As such, light passes through the system without showing anything inside of it. People inside the boundary can see outside it, but people outside it can't see into it. It's basically a giant hole in the middle of space that by virtue of its quirk of space, was never noticed.

Or something like that. If that doesn't fit, I'm more than willing to move it.

If that's what it takes to make it work, sure. Although I think just wormholes would be good, since it might not be good to have a triple-star system surrounded by black holes. In my mind, the Barrier is only about 3 ly in radius, so having a bunch of black holes that close would be rather problematic. A simple ripple in space-time might suffice.
