Rules:

1. Use the OOC-thread (out of character) to say anything non RP-related, or make a comment on the RP out of character.
2. Krypton Nova and Yymea are the moderators of this thread, and their word is law, unless the rules state otherwise.
3. Abide by the rules of this RP.
4. Be fair.
5. Be realistic.
6. Abide by the laws of physics.
7. Don't use unrealistic numbers.
8. Give other players enough time to react.
9. Stay within the the predefined tech-level, which can be anything in this thread.
10. When you're new to an RP, you start from zero, like everyone else.
11. Don't change previously stated facts.
12. No godmodding.
13. You only know what is stated in RP-related factbooks or actually said in the RP. What wasn't said, didn't happen. (No metagaming!)
14. Only use weapon's of mass destruction if the other nation agrees with it or uses such weapons themselves.
15. Don't jump forward in time unless everyone agrees. Don't rush things.
16. Try to tell what happens like a story. Write relatively detailed posts. One-liners ruin RP, so keep a minimum of 100 words per post.

Advice:

1. Read the rules and the backstory
2. Back everything you say you have up by explaining how it works. It is preferable to do this in advance, like in a factbook or post.
3. When in doubt over realism, use reliable internet sources to check if what you want to say is feasible.
4. Don't try to be the superior power.

If a single conflict ends up being too big or complex, a new thread for that specific conflict will be made. In that case the OOC thread will remain the same though.

The Yymean parliament votes in favor of more openness to AI, referendum confirms it

Artificial intelligence, a technology that has caused rife debate between Yymeans, and, until recently, had been practically banned, had recently been put forward for vote by parliament after an intense debate, in which many insults and remarks were hurled between members of different parties. The results of the voting were as follows:

1 United People´s Party, 86 delegates, 81 votes in favour, 4 against, 1 neutral.
2 Yymean People´s Union, 74 delegates, 74 votes against.
3 Progress, 34 delegates, 27 votes in favour, 4 against, 3 neutral.
4 Worker´s Socialist Party, 28 delegates, 22 votes in favour, 6 against.
5 People in Unity, 13 delegates, 13 votes in favour.
6 People´s Socialist Coalition, 8 delegates, 4 in votes favour, 4 against.
7 Democratic Union, 8 delegates, 6 votes in favour, 2 neutral.
8 The Revolutionary Party, 4 delegates, 4 votes against.
9 Patriotic Party of Yymea, 3 delegates, 3 votes against.
10 United Leftist Worker´s, 2 delegates, 1 vote in favour, 1 vote against.

It was decided that AI technology would now be usable for both military and civilian appliances, although its distribution will, like all products, be handled by the state. The voting has outlined the division between the delegates of each party in this issue. Soon after this, poll boths were organized, and votes gathered. The results were as follows:

69% in favour
31% against

With this, the decision of parliament was confirmed, and The Democratic People's Republic of Yymea looks forward to a new, hopefully bright, future.

After the result of the vote in the Yymean parliament, many Novan scientists and AI-sceptics have outed their concerns over the application of AI technology by other nations. Though the Novan government shares that concern, it is determined not to hold this development back, as they believe the development of AI by other nations will eventually contribute to the greater good of the human species on Arcadia. Instead, it chose an alternative solution.

At 81:00 hours in the evening, president Bion contacted president Ilbigug Jilkimug to discuss the topic. He proposed to create an international organisation to control the production and application of AI. This organisation would ensure that AI technology doesn't fall into the wrong hands, and that AI are produced in such a way that safety is guaranteed. This organisation would also strive for AI-rights.

regarding your question, I would propose that organisation to have equal conditions for all nations that are part of it. The conditions could be determined by a group of chosen experts on the topic, and it should possible to ask for revision on a condition. Did you meant for the organisation to be based in Colombo, or did you want to meet me in person? We should also come up with a name for this organisation soon.

The Daily Hue

The Ministry of Ministerial is under great tension today. A new party called the Noot party is causing a division amongst the other parties in the Ministry. This new party is attacking the oldest party in the Ministry, The Hue Party. A Noot party member commented, "The Hue Party has been one of the most influential parties in the Ministry and is constantly imposing their hues onto us." The public opinion has been particularly negative towards the new Noot Party. A Hue Party member notes, "The Noot party is a threat to the stability of the Galactic Ministry!" A small minority of the population, however, is supporting the Noot party. There has been no negative impact on these tensions as life continues on normally.

Economy rises as the sale of the new romance book increases. Stores are struggling to stock their shelves with the new Noladea x Demon Catz book. Merchandise are being bought like crazy.

President Bion got on his private plane. Within 5 hours he would arrive in Colombo. He looked forward to finally meet president Ilbigug Jilkimug in person. As he took off vertically, he saw Nova City becoming smaller and smaller, until it was obscured by the first clouds, and then made completely invisible as he passed the clouds. He pushed the throttle forward, and the plane accelerated to an incredible speed. Bion loved flying, and was pretty good at it. His copilot was only there because his safety advisor didn't like the thought of him flying on his own. "What if you pass out for some reason?", he had asked yesterday. He'd replied that he would have 21 kilometres time to get his consciousness back... But in the end, he knew that the guy was right, and he took a copilot with him.

Ilbigug Jilkimug walked through the streets of Colombo. Although people looked at him, surprised, it had become a common sight to see the Yymean president in the street without bodyguards. He had been discouraged from doing so, but he did not fear for his life. He knew that even if he was killed, democracy would still triumph, and the best representative of the people would be chosen. It was a hot day, and he was wearing a white silk shirt and trousers. He squinted his eyes, as the sun hit him directly in the face, and saw some tourists taking pictures of a group of painters, working in the street. Behind them, a wall was hanged with their paintings, carefully covered in glass. Ilbigug paused to admire them. One of them depicted the city at night, and was quite remarkable. He turned, and congratulated the artists, which thanked him.

Soon, Ilbigug arrived at the local government building of Colombo, and greeted the governor, Gerilahg Fedefvil, a YPU member which he quite admired, and had been one of the only YPU members that had supported the AI law, although he was forced to vote against. After a short conversation, he expressed his gratitude for his choice for a meeting place. President BION would arrive soon, and Ilbigug could not wait.
