Parcia still has an active military prescience in the area, though this is soon to change as the leaders of the extremists responsible for the Osaka naval attack have since been captured and tried. Most of the 2.5 million troops have headed home, with only 45,000 staying in country to protect the tree bases that have since been established. Parcia has mainly been policing the local population, while not trying to exterminate the Islamic culture, such as he USP, it has been preventing any major uprisings or revolts. Parcia has long since enjoyed the partnership with Black Wood, while black wood convoys bring food and aid, Parcian helicopters, tanks, and jets fly cover.

The ASF-15 Black widow, long since put in to its modern D model, has kept in pace well with the modern world. With the first installation of Pulse detonation engines , the widow still remains as one of the fasted aircraft in the sky, combined with veteran pilots, its still remains as one of the most lethal planes in the sky.

The Parcian Navy has grown from the meager 60 ship fleet in the early 90s to well over 150 modern warships. Among the numerous Kongo, Murasame, and Atago class destroyers, the new Udatchi class guided missile cruiser has been launched, with 3 ships active and another 4 in construction. The "Thor" launcher system now stretches across the southern coast, with 7 guns, it marks the pinnacle of Parcian national defense.

Parcia has since launched it first space craft as well as its first satellites. Using the Thor system so launched supplies and equipment in to low orbit for Parcian shuttles to intercept and catch.

The internet has caught on extremely fast in Parcia, with the country being digitized in early 2005. Anime, Manga, and even Hentai have soared across said internet with speed. Parcian Video games have started to pop up as well.

Since the mapping of the human genome in early 2000, Parcian scientist at the scratch hive have been hard at work with enhancing human genetics as well as combat disabilities and diseases.

President Quincy has since stepped down, with President Togowa taking over in 2006.

Project ARCLIGHT is in its final days of testing and is soon ready to be used. Parcia's population has boomed to nearly 115 million since the 90s with the common cause being an increase in birthrate, the first increase in nearly 50 years.

Parcia also announces testing on the New ASF-19 "Dire Wolf", a new jet fighter aircraft capable of out performing even the ASF-15 Black Widow-D. With the wartime mission ending, Parcia's military has changed, with enlistment declining and tech changing. The Type 90 MBT is in the process of being replaced by the Type 10 MBT, a modern tank that takes the hard lessons learned in the desert in account. The type 91 Howa rifle has proven to be costly and not vary robust, with most units choosing to keep their M16s. Because of this, Parcia begins a weapons competition to acquire a new service rifle, with domestic and foreign manufacturers both welcome. The Arctic Warfare Magnum, being imported, has begun to replace the M14 and M24 rifles as Parcia's chosen sniper rifle.

Lastly, Parcia has constructed a modern missiles defense system comprised of high grade radars, ground based anti-ICBM missile launchers, and the now ageing Eagle Eye network.

The union, in the past 10 years, has managed to completley rid of fossil fuel use and is now almost entirley ran on solar, wind, thermo, hydroelectric, and nuclear energy. The standard of living for the everyday middle class man is at an all time high thanks to acts put in place back in the 80s and 90s like the Healthcare and Education Act. The military has seen a major redesign in uniform by including gas masks and hazmat like gear to the regular infantry soldier in order to provide protection in chemical warfare. The R7 rifle is also designed and put into service in hopes of making the military more efficent and prepared. The economey has also seem massive booms and with it comes a boom in population which manages to surpass 300,000 people.

In 2012, the USP has changed little, but its population has grown even larger, growing to a massive 2,769,000,000, though the family size has decreased too, typically ranging from 3-4 children per mother. The USP now considers itself to be a first world country, and small businesses and other secondary forms of trade and small capitalism have prospered, helping bring the economy to a total of 67.5 trillion kopeks. Despite the important role played by small trade as a "secondary skin" of the economy, government funded fields like transport, healthcare, construction, education, and the military continue to form the core of the country, receiving the most research and scientific funding, all encouraged by the government.

The GDP per capita is $24,377, smaller than most other countries, though policies encouraging income equality have helped keep this equally distributed. Taxation is still extremely heavy, necessary to fund the many government-led projects taking place across the country, and fund the social safety net. GDP growth continues to gradually slow as the years pass, though this is seen as acceptable, as the government priority is sponsoring the public works of a socialist state, and not increasing consumer input.

The USP has also made great strides in health science, with huge amounts of tax money being turned towards the research of stem cells, to help cure a variety of ailments by replacing body parts and skin tissue, which could go to a huge variety of uses.

Despite being unparalleled in healthcare and transport quality, and having established one of the progressive and modern societies on earth, the USP continues to be antiquated in its own way. The digital revolution has taken place only superficially in the country, and though most people now own a laptop or smartphone, they are used almost entirely for communication and participation in internet forums. Gaming has never taken place in the country, and wide-screen televisions are unheard of. The only movie theaters continue to be government-owned theaters that show the more tasteful, artistic films sponsored by the government.

The rail network is the pride of the country, spanning a total of 2,500,000 miles of electrified rail, helping connect even the most far-flung Republics of the country. This has helped solidify the new Soyuza culture envisioned by the communists as far back as the 1920s, by bringing them closer together and giving efficient transport to all, even across the widest tundra, deserts, pine forests, and steppes, which formerly were nearly uncrossable. Bullet trains are used across the country, and as the population increases and urbanizes even more, the urbanization rate has increased to 83%, making mass transit more vital than ever. Trains are a staple of Soyuza society, and car use has actually decreased even more, falling to .6 cars for every 10 people.

Oil and coal use has stopped completely, with electricty being generated by hydroelectric dams, especially on the biggest rivers of the Astra and the Nyeva, as well as carefully supervised nuclear reactors, and entire ranges of wind farms, being found mainly in the steppes of Sovosika and Khovatstan.

The construction overhaul project in Khovingrad has been created, and an entirely new city center has become the pride of the Khovat Socialist Republic, sporting some of the most unique architecture in the world, focused on using fluid, futuristic designs, all clad in tranquil blue glass. The city is seen as the ideal of a carefully planned socialist city, combining green parks supported by irrigation systems, with clean and orderly public housing complexes, and unique buildings and modern and efficient public transit. Khovingrad is nicknamed the "desert oasis," crediting the irrigation campaigns of Vladimir Alkaev with helping the city bloom into one of the largest and healthiest cities in the country.

Socialist Tranquility Tower becomes a landmark of the USP, attracting tourists from across the nation. With its round, gentle shape, it is seen as the ideal Soyuza architecture - symbolizing the green, reformist, and harmonious ideals of Soyuza society.

Despite the USP's rejection of popular culture, one Parcian anime series has managed to become incredibly popular in the USP: Neon Genesis Evangelion. With its philosophical themes and complex and interesting characters, and focus on human interaction, the anime is perfect for Soyuza culture, and has become beloved by the entire nation.

Though the USP still trades mainly with Alkaevgrad Pact members, Evangelion is the only foreign TV show with no tariffs placed on it, and Eva DVDs become one of the most common imports into the USP. The government even goes as far as to declare it "one of the great artistic works to be enjoyed by the Soyuza people," ranking with films as legendary as the 1972 Soyuza art film Solaris.

Despite the last 16 years of peace, Parcia still patrols it southern boarder extensively. A divide is growing between those born before, and after the conflict with Itoland, with the older generation thankful for the rather large (compared to the years before) Parcian military, while the younger generation, those born after it ended, see the build up as un-needed and a waste of money.

For almost thirty years, the Sukhoi Su-27 has been the main air superiority fighter of the USP, and is now becoming generally obsolete.

With test flights having taken place over the past years, the first Sukhoi PAK FA fifth generation stealth fighter is entered into active service with the Soyuza People's Air Force, designed to become the next primary fighter aircraft for the USP, with the primary goal of seeking out and engaging enemy fighters, with secondary ground-attack capabilities. It is to become the most important aircraft of the SPAF for at least the next 20 years.

Production will take place at many aerospace production plans across the country, mainly located in the Khovat Socialist Republic and Puterene Socialist Republic.

The Kerguelan Islands

South East of Madagascar lays a small group of uninhabited islands that have been dubbed the Kerguelen Islands and scientists find these islands to be great places to set up research bases due to the nature and isolation of the islands. Congress, now led by the APSA and the CPSA, along with the president sign an act called the Kerguelan Act which basically states that the Union officially claims the uninhabited islands as there own for research and other needs. The settlement of Port Umkhuhalane is quickly founded on the island of La Grande Terre by about 50 scientists and settlers.

Volkstrad begins to invest in creating armoured vehicles to replace those currently in service. The intent is to become the supreme master of Armour once again, as they are viewed as an especially vital part of the Volkstradi Military, and may be needed soon with the tensions in Pleyria as high as they are.

The USP finds this unacceptable, and increases its own armor budget to replace updated versions of the T-90, intent to remain dominant in the fields of tanks and helicopters at the very least.

Volkstrad makes designing new armoured vehicles to stand as master above all others a major priority, setting the date required for the first prototypes of both by 2016, and gives the designers as much funding to accomplish this as will be required.

As tank development is at the core of government research in the military, scientists and engineers constantly work on creating a next-generation tank to replace the T-90, something to at the very least rival Volkstrad, while retaining the ability to be mass-produced.

The entire country's culture has been changed too after the internet reached Pleyria in 2007 new music, T.V. shows and new movies.

Pleyrian Pop music has become popular with the teens of Pleyria after the new music came out a new radio channel called 'Pleyrian Pop Music' now airs on every radio in Pleyria.

After losing Cuba during the war Pleyria has decided to give up on trying to take over other countries and instead protect their own borders and sea the 5th, 3rd, and 7th fleet now scout the Pleyrian sea.

The High General sends a message to Volkstrad.

4:17 AM, at the Falkland Island Naval Station

As mostly all were asleep, light amounts of guards were on patrol, and the ships were all safe and sound.

But then, the raid was a go. At 4:20 AM, 3 dozen men came from the ocean, from a separate island, and reached their way onto a Tikuna-class Attack Submarine, seizing control, as another dozen began launching explosives at the entrance, killing 4. At least 3 men guarding the sub were killed, and some of these terror soldiers raided the armory, seizing at least 2 "high power" torpedoes, while pushing over a trolley of explosives to the barracks area, setting it off and killing about 50-60 men, setting the area ablaze, as they use the seized submarine to escape, with the remaining men attacking the front using their reserve explosives to kill themselves, causing a further blaze outside the base.

Local authorities to the island, including a nearby patrol of navy units coming from the Antarctic, come to place a stop to the blaze, but no signs of the submarine around the area. The only evidence of who caused this is of one terrorist whom killed himself, deceased with a ripped and stained picture of a candlestick. No records show of anything like this, as the mystery deepens.

The T-90 "land tank" and Mi-24 "aerial tank" are vital weapons to the SPA, and serve as the most prized, prestigious, and powerful weapons of the Soyuza Defense Forces, being the backbone to the entire Army. However, both designs are now several decades old, and despite upgrades are becoming rather aged compared to new weapons owned by other countries.

As such, a widespread boost to funding, production, and development of two new products is spurred on by the government, consisting of 1.2 trillion kopeks. The aim is to design a product that can be mass-produced by the best factories across the USP in the tens of thousands, but still be able to match any Volkstradi or Togerian product in the field. The most important qualities are armor and firepower, with plans to employ upgraded reactive-kinetic armor.

The two projects are codenamed "Mi-34" and "T-99," and with the Soyuza military doctrine having remained the same since the 1960s, little ambiguity is had as to the nature of what weapons are being produced.

The CPPE has had more than its share of improvements and changes.
First of all, the population has grown to just over 1.7 billion persons, and the GDP per capita has nearly quadrupled, rising to be $8,391. This comes as more people are granted economic freedoms within the government-owned industries. What’s more, the population and GDP and GDP per capita are expected to keep rising, with bullish markets in sight and an increase in personal wealth and purchasing power.
The physics program has vastly expanded and gotten access to more resources. For one, Anling has become head of the experimental Peoples’ Nuclear Fusion Facility, which is set up to discover ways to improve fusion and possibly to achieve cold fusion within the century. Despite the project being active for over a decade, little progress has been made thus far. Nuclear fusion accounts for less than 1% of all of the energy generated in the CPPE, but even so it has a promising future. In 2007, Ren launched his experimental particle-beam weapon into low Earth-orbit. He also launched ten autonomously programmed and integrated kinetic weapons satellites. However, these weapons have only seen target practice and scientists working with them say that they will not be able to perform on a military scale for at least the next two decades.
Seeing USP expand its military with the intentions to surpass us in the 90s, the government has created a string of advertising campaigns for citizens to join or at least work with the military. From ’97 to 2011, we have added a total of about 700,000 personnel (combat and non-combat) to the military. If advertising campaigns on the internet and TV keep going, that number is expected to rise by at least 2% yearly. We have expanded training and military exercises, especially near Pakistan and the UAE, constantly firing cruise missiles and performing naval raids on simulated targets. On land, the infantry and the marines have also expanded exercises, sticking to a rigorous exercise and tactics and general combat knowledge routine.
Speaking of the military, the Navy gets considerable expansion. It scraps any ships it considers obsolete (anything from 1995 and before) and use the metal to make the new ships. It adds 1 new aircraft carrier, 8 new battleships (one of which is nuclear and another one having missile-launching capabilities), 8 new heavy cruisers, 9 new light cruisers, 12 new destroyers, and a total of 476 other new vessels. Most of the large surface ships are equipped with advanced CIWS systems.
The new vessels are:
-The Type 094 nuclear sub, capable of holding and launching 3-4 ballistic missiles. However, its one falw is that it’s incredibly noisy and easy to track, so they just patrol waters closer to the CPPE.
-The Type 039A diesel-electric submarine, with an air-independent engine and a double-pressurized hull with six torp tubes capable of firing a variety of indigenous or international torpedoes, including the YJ-18 torpedo (in development), which is exceptionally fast.
-The Type 032 diesel-electric submarine, which has dimensions which put it well up in the list of the world’s largest conventionally propelled subs. It has a total of 4 torpedo tubes, one each on the port and starboard sides, two in the front, and one in the back. It also has three missile slots for a vertical launch system, capable of launching even nuclear-tipped missiles.
-The Type 071 amphibious transport dock, armed with a marine battalion, a 76 mm gun, 4 CIWS guns, 4 chaff launchers, and the possibility of being fitted with 2 machine guns but we decided against it.
-The Type 052C destroyer, designed for fleet air defense and thus fitted with advanced radar systems, 48 surface-to-air missiles, 16 cruise missiles (8 of which double as anti-ship missiles), 2 CIWS, a multi-purpose 100 mm gun, 6 torpedo tubes, and 4 tube-decoy rocket launchers. It is also designed to carry one ASW/SAR helicopter if the need be.
-The Type 054A frigate, with multiple radar systems including the advanced Type 382 radar system, a missile jamming system, and a particularly sensitive radar warning system. It has one 32-cell anti-sub rocket launcher, 2 anti-ship/land attack cruise missiles, a 76 mm dual-purpose gun, two ASW torpedo launchers (one on port and starboard each), two ASW rocket launchers, and 2 decoy rocket launchers. If the need be, this vessel can carry a Harbin Z-9 helicopter.
-The Type 022 missile boat, designed to patrol our shores and littoral areas. It is armed with 8 anti-ship missiles, 8 land attack cruise missiles (two of which are long range), and 4 anti-air MANPAD missiles. Its hull has been modified to withstand high sea conditions, reducing the penalty by 50%.
-The Type 082 minesweeper, with multiple yet integrated systems of sweeping gear, which detect mines at various depths using many frequencies and pings. It is armed with 2 37 mm guns and 6 mines.
-The Type 094A supply vessel, designed to be faster and more resistant to air and submarine attacks. It is armed with 4 twin 37 mm guns.

The infantry also gets upgrades, including:
-The QSW-06 silenced pistol
-The QBZ-03

The air force and naval air force get:
-The Chengdu J-10, a multi-role jet
-The Shenyang J-16, yet another multi-role fighter
-The Shaanxi Y-9, a medium-range transport craft
-The WZ-10 attack helicopter (respect your privileges)
A cultural shift occurred between 2008 and 2010, with independent artists beginning to make up the majority of the artists, as well as the total media produced and published. These artists are typically in the electronic genre of music, which becomes a favorite of many young people. Other popular genres are grunge, punk, alternative, and even some pop based off of anime and other sources. The cultural shift lends it success to the rapidly growing internet and computer access. As computers become smaller and cheaper to produce (that lends to the growing robotization of the manufacturing industry, especially here), more and more people use them on a daily basis. Many artists choose to start their careers on the internet nowadays instead of which a government-owned labeling company.

Speaking of the internet, it has grown tremendously since ’96. Faster and cheaper and more omnipresent computers, coupled with user-friendly interface and new methods of digitalized security, make computers an appealing tool for everything from work to leisure. With the advent of smart phones, home video and instant recording replace entire camera crews and journalism teams, meriting even more individuality. However, the government maintains a slight screening of the internet, filtering out superfluous and inflammatory material.

Despite having a very large green energy base (63% of energy produced in the CPPE is from green or nuclear energy sources), there is still seemingly too much dependence on oil and the offshore platforms in the UAE and the fields in Pakistan seem to be running dry. Ren commissions an almost absurd 1,500 thorium plants, and another 20,000 wind turbines to be built within the next five years to fend off an impending fossil fuel crisis.
As humans, we really ought to pull ourselves together and start working towards a future of peace, understanding, and intergalactic domination.

We lost few to your invasion, you've paid the price in blood to repay it. The souls who were quelled in defence of that land before our intervention, it is to them that you must repent for the crimes of your nation, it is to the fallen protectors of that island upon the Caribbean.

So I must ask will you forgive the people of Pleyria and me?

The Kaiser sends a message in reply
It is not I who you must ask forgiveness. It is to the nation that you invaded, and whose sons your predecessor butchered.
We lost few to your invasion, you've paid the price in blood to repay it. The souls who were quelled in defence of that land before our intervention, it is to them that you must repent for the crimes of your nation, it is to the fallen protectors of that island upon the Caribbean.

The High General reading the message decides to send a forgiveness messages to Cuba instead.

Now at the age of 34, Lena Sultanova continues to direct the USP. However, by now she has become a completely different person - having to learn to survive in the tumultuous world of authoritarian politics and power-plays, she has become a much colder person towards threats, though her compassion for the Soyuza people has caused them to nickname her "mama bear."

Her foreign policy is bearlike as well, regarding any potential threat to her beloved USP as something that demands immediate and protracted defensive response. The SDF is the fourth heaviest funded government enterprise, following social securities/welfare, public transport, and healthcare. Defense budget consists of a total of 8.3% of the government budget, a whopping 3.1 trillion kopeks. This is used to maintain a massive standing army, consisting of 8.4 million active personnel, and 9.8 million reserves, entirely in the SPA.

Soyuza People's Army: 5,200,000 active, 9,800,000 reserve

Soyuza People's Air Force: 1,750,000 active

Soyuza People's Navy: 1,100,000 active

Spetsnaz: 260,000 active

Soyuza People's Aerospace Defense: 90,000 active

The government budget still remains very large, taking up 65% of the Soyuza GDP, or 37.375 million kopeks. This is enabled by a very large tax burden, which has the added benefit of keeping the private sector in check, and preventing unwanted economic growth. Furthermore, despite growth in the service sector, industrial output still composes a massive 45% of GDP. Without any countries to export to besides the Alkaevgrad Pact, factories across the country are devoted to military output, churning steel from the Liliya Mountains constantly into new masses of tanks, helicopters, and armored personnel carriers.

Ballistic missile silos are found across the country, from being nestled in the pine forests of Veraputra, to the sandy alcoves of Khovatstan. Entire mountains in the rocky regions of Sobekistan and Jynistan have been carved out and turned into virtual fortresses, safeguarding the border with the CPPE.

The USP has also continued to steadily expand its nuclear capability, now fielding a total of 11,000 nuclear ballistic missiles. Armed with Stirling engines and the latest in missile technology, Soyuza submarines are the backbone of the People's Navy, lurking across the world to respond to any potential "capitalist aggression."

Domestically, while values of empathy and societal harmony are the most important, the Soyuza population still remains wary and uneasy towards the outside world. The military is a strong pillar of society, promising to defend against the intrusion of capitalism, monarchism, and other foreign threats. Military parades are a regular occurrence in the USP, and the atmosphere of cold war has changed little since the 1990s; some have described Lena's compassion towards her own population and hostility towards the outside world as being reminiscent of Chairwoman Shikinova.

The Mediterranean is the pond, but more importantly the backbone of the country. With such routes as the Suez Canal, Dardanelles, and Gibraltar these three important routes act as the driving force of the economy as well as the driving force of the military allowing the Togerian Navy to arrive at near any point in the combined landmass of Eurasia in a reasonable time as well as allowing access to the Americas. Such programs funded by the Navy and Airforce such as the Young Minds Initiate designed to give young recruits(17-25) the option of exploring the world and participating in the education systems of participating nations.

With programs like these the country has seen an increase in it's armed forces to that of 2,500,000 of that amount on 23% of recruits opt to join the Navy, causing for more funding to the branch for the creation of a London-Class aircraft carrier and three Spartacus-Class submarines both of which are set to be completed in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Hadiyyah has reached the tender age of 16, and has shown interest in the field of politics. Spending most her days studying social theory, world history, with some specialized training in geo-politics. Due to her interest the queen has granted her access to be an adviser in Sakhander, deeming her skilled enough to better help the situation of the country.

Soon complete infrastructure improvements have been fully completed in eastern Sakhandar, even the most remote villages receive energy, food, shelter, and water in exchange for oil, minerals, and ore. Blackwood franchises have popped up all over the area, prompting middle and upper class families to indulge in capitalist consumerism.

A long DMZ has been established all along the western region, with the most concentrated Blackwood forces up north. The Blackwood PMC firm has a strong grip over any insurgent or terrorist activity, constantly raiding and attacking facilities while educating children about how blowing up innocents is wrong. (Nudge, Nudge USP). The largest military base is Weapon Range Strigon. Previously the airbase that housed a small runway, the area has now grown to the entire secluded mountain valley that it rests in.

In Harat, the largest city in Free Sakhandar territory, lies an abundance of technology and wealth. After a long and extensive modernization program the city has grown to resemble a proper western city with large skyscrapers, many private businesses, and even more buildings such as casinos, suburban homes, and highrise apartments.

After Cuba didn't reply the High General sighs and stood up.

I blame the old High General for our suffering and pain! I wish he didn't invade Cuba! The High General thought angrily as he walked out of his office and slam his door shut while walking out.

As the biggest threat to capitalism and democracy, the USP finds these penal operations by Blackwood to be abominable. Chairwoman Sultanova declares that as the USP predicted, Sakhandar has been taken over by a mix of tribal Islamists and international thieves, preying upon the instability in the region.

The War in Sakhandar is still a controversial subject in the USP, though veterans are well-regarded in the country. Most people regard it as a very grim and depressing war, but a necessary one - people see the fault in lying with Sakhandar, for being such a backwards country in the first place.

Cherfilm, the largest cinema studio in the USP, produces a movie about the legendary Battle of Firebase Rosa, which has become a symbol of Soyuza stubbornness and resistance against incredible odds. Called Blood Crag, it tells the tail of Molniya Unit and their heroic defense during the last days in Sakhandar.
