However, it's makeshift runway is huge, and long enough to support large aircraft. We are taking this airfield because the nearest one with a tarmac is deep out west. And we shall setup more anti-air with that then. Now if you're men are ready to move out, mine will begin to load up."
Soon after Shaw said that, he ordered his 200 men and loaded them up into 7 humvees. When the humvees were loaded up, this left about 165 soldiers transportless. Shaw cut his losses and ordered that essential personnel be a priority. 5 engineers were loaded up and 30 soldiers were put into the humvee convoy. He would send more soldiers as the humvees would transit back and forth. Shaw came back to the DEN Colonel. "All I can send is 35 with the current convoy, I will transit more soldiers back and forth as time goes along. But we must take what we have."
"35 is quite enough, Comrade. I have sixty in mine, and five light tanks, so... Maybe forty to fifty more holding on. We'll pool the foot troops together to walk the rest of the way." Heinrich ordered, directing A company onto their transports and turning back to the colonel. "Move them up, Comrade. They'll head off."
The 12 armored cars aligned themselves into a convoy, with three of them holding MG-50I machine guns, and the rest using MG-303s. They were filled with the Death Korps soldiers, and the five light tanks were covered in men as they readied to move out. At the head, in a command armored car, was Captain Sergey, a well educated officer.
