Redarin/IPE Confrontation

Postby Redarin » Sun Feb 14, 2016 4:56 pm

It was a quiet night over a rustic planet on the edge of the Interplanetary empire.
Not much had been happening as of late. As this planet was the perifery of the empire exiting things were rare.
Even though the planet was rich in natural resources, the imperial government hadn't (yet) taken the time to extract them due to cost issues.
Colonists came here as they hoped the extraction of the bothom riches would soon start, sadly, it didn't. Even so the colonist managed to build up a happy life for themselves.
Thid night though, it would prove to be a different night as all others.
As the colonists looked up they saw a number of putple lights in the sky, hundreds of them.
In awe they stared at them, thinking it might be a new imperial weapon that was being demonstrated along the border regions but alas, nothing could be farther from the truth. As they looked to the sky neutron beams started cleaving through the air.
A building was hit, blowing up with nearly all it.s residents inside.
Another beam soared, hit an eclipse class destroyer that was docked at the spaceport, unprepared for an attack as it's crew was on shoreleave. In a huge ball of fire the eclipse destroyer blew up, taking the majority of the smallish spaceport with it.
The crew of the vessel ran out on the streets of the colony, hoping to find out what was going on. A humanoid looking giant robot flew over their heads, followed by what looked like a Heavy fighter/bomber dropping it's payload around it.
Before any of the Eclipse destroyer crew could do something they were cut in half, one by one, sometimes three at a time by a huge Monstrosity. The ones that managed to run were carefully sniped down by drone type cyborg who were hidden beyond a ridge on the edge of the colony.
As ships rain down on the planet, all living sentient life is systematically killed, humans, Lithuinians alike. Except a fe Lithuinians are kept alive for study since the Redarin AI collective has never encountered them before.
As all this is teanspiring a number of drone types inspect the planet and are making calculations on how to extract the resources of the planet and use them to build up the Redarin fleet to even bigger proportions than was seen in this assualt so that they can exact revenge on the Orryon Confederacy.

A small IPE outpost containing two soldiers and a communications technician located on the surface of the unfortunate planet began picking up weapons fire in a nearby village. "That's odd". The technician said. "I am picking up energy weapons a hundred kilometers from this position." The two soldiers ran over to the tech to look at the screen, which showed the destruction of the village. "What the hell!? What is that thing!?" A soldier said in disgust. Another soldier spit at the screen. "That alien scum thinks it can attack us. We will show the the true power and superiority of the Lithuine race." The tech pressed a distress button on the screen, in which the entire building turned black momentarily, and then started to flash red, indicating it had sent an emergency distress signal. The tech then began recording a message "This is Outpost 83421. Our planet is under attack, requesting immediate assistance." The weapons started to get closer to the building. The three men ran to their speeders and took off at quick speed across the sandy dunes of the planet as they tried to escape for shelter.

Meanwhile villagers were being slaughtered, helpless to do anything. Alien slaves were tossed at the machines as canon fodder in hopes that it would give the IPE members time to escape. Due to the virtually non existent military stationed on the planet, and the lack of planetary defenses, the villagers were doomed.

A small fleet picked up the distress signal, and responded. "This is Captain Edwin Altair. We are responding to your distress signal, and will be arriving shortly." The ships went to light speed as they headed for the planet. The fleet consisted of several Eclipse Destroyers as well as several Nova destroyers. Pilots rushed to their V22 starfighters in preparation of the assault. On board was also Eblis of the Imperial Templar. The Templar knights were the most feared group in the IPE, and Eblis was considered to be one of the most cunning of warriors.

As the destruction of the planet was progressing the fleet that had been sent to haul the resources to the Redarin production centre moved into orbit. The fleet mainly consisted of S3089 type destroyers and a couple of R8701 Support ships. Suddenly the Univoice became agitated... One of it's ships had picked up a movement on it's scanners. It was faint for the moment but it was certainly heading this way.
The Univoice processed all available data and ordered it's soldiers to dig into the local computer systems. What it found was spread like a wildfire of bad news through the entire AI collective. They had attacked an outpost of an empire about the sizeof Orryon, their nemesis. The Univoice started computing and making consensus with it's members should they fight or run?
The Univoice however was not afraid of this "interplanetary empire". It was merely assasing the best course of action in a logical sense.
After a few nanoseconds the Univoice decided to stand their ground. As flezing would perhaps lead them to planet 001, their main hase of operation.

As the enemy drew closer the destroyers formed a formation above the planet at the point where the enemy would exit the tachyon stream. The support ships were right behind them while a smaller detachment was split from the main force. In front a couple of Nautron beam satellites were deployed. The Redarin AI collective had hauled a few to this planet as preparation for an eventuality sush as this. Now the waiting begins...

Several flashes of light appeared as several small objects dropped out of light speed. These objects were too small to contain a pilot, being no more than a meter in length. These tiny objects, numbering in the dozens, darted around in a bee like movement around the various AI ships. They were equipped with only a single laser turret-- and only capable enough of defending against personnel, not ships. As such, the objects did not move, but instead emitted long, harmless, blue beams. These beams slowly sweeped the surface of the various ships. It was becoming clear that these tiny objects were deep space probes. They continued to sweep the area until they suddenly all simultaneously shut down and their memory erased, but not before they transmitted any data they managed to collect. Several other, more specialized probes headed towards the surface and scanned the area. These probes would not serve as any significant nuisance to any enemy soldiers, but these probes shot their single laser anyway, to then only engage in their self destruct protocol.

After all the probes deleted their memories, it was once again only silence. After several hours, a message was sent to the Redarin's largest ship,

Code: Select all
Hostile Fleet.

You have attacked a planet apart of the Interplanetary Empire. Cease and desist immediately or we will destroy you. Consider this your only warning. You have 30 hextons [minutes] to comply.

The Redarin ships were not bothered by the probes. They willingly let themselves be scanned. As the probes were scanning, the AI's on board the ships started analyzing the probes, their hull composition, their scanning beams and their comm systems.
After a while the software that operated the probes became perfectly clear to the Univoice.
When the probes scaning sequence came to an end the univoice implemented a small intelligent AI guided virus program into the comm systems. When the probes sent their data over the virus was sent with it, when the data arrived it nestled itself in the IPE ships computers, lying in wait for when it would be needed.
When the message came from the IPE the Redarins remained silent, as silent as the silence before the storm...

After the thirty minute deadline, the fleet suddenly appeared with bright flashes of light as they fell out of light speed. They immediately began firing on the enemy's largest ship and their beam satellite weapons. The giant, Eclipse class ships, named for their apparent "eclipse" they make over a nearby star began forming a defense position while the smaller vessels fell in front. External energy shields were immediately raised. The various destroyers began to deploy their V22 and accretion starfighters which would intercept small vessels as well as make their way to the surface of the planet to defend any survivors. Transport ships would also remain on standby behind the other vessels waiting to begin a full surface invasion when there was a whole in the enemy's defense line.

"Let these worthless creatures burn." One of the captains barely managed to spit out in sheer disgust.

"Prepare to surround them and squeeze them in." Capt. Altair said analytically and nonchalantly. He faced out the window, watching the battle begin with the exchanges of weapons fire between ships and the fighters flying in formation. "After we surround them, I don't want them escaping, I want them pinned down and destroyed. Every last one of them."

As the attack began the redarin ships opened fire, they positioned themselves so that they formes a live shield for the neutron beam satellites who packed the biggest firepower. They focussed their fire on a specific point i the fleet formation in order to force an escape point for the Redarin fleet.
Meanwhile the virus inside the IPE ships computers was sending battle information back to the redarin ships. The Redarins knew their moves even before they made them. The virus was also creating subroutines in order to completely take over the computers of their victims. So far it had not encountered any anti virus software or strong firewalls to block it's advance.

On the surface hastely mined resources were being loaded inside transport ships and headed out to space as soon as possible. The Redarins were preparing to leave the planetwith a few resources to make it worth their teip and some technological equipment that would make them understand their new enemy a bit better.

The virus would have to encounter the various firewall systems that were set up in all ships to gain access, as well as fight against the computer's "antibody system", which are IPE programmed adaptable AI's which would seek out and delete all things foreign, mainly viruses.

On the planet's surface, small ships entered the atmosphere to attack enemy ships attempting to leave the planet. Drop ships landed on the surface allowing hundreds of the spider-like annihilator droids which began to march their way towards enemies with their insect-like walking appearance. Additionally, soldiers supplies with Atom Disruptors, or weapons that disrupted the inter-molecular forces of atoms and thus make people, or parts of people "fall apart", were attacking the enemy. The troops were given strict orders to leave no survivors, as the IPE did not want them to know anything about the IPE, as the empire has always remained secretive.

Meanwhile in space, the ships held their formation and began rotating the amount of time ships would spend in the front line, allowing other ships to do minor repairs. Hundreds of V22 fighters flew in swarms after enemy Redarin ships and others would make bombing runs at the satellites to try to damage or destroy them. Several other ships began boarding procedures in an attempt to commandeer Rendarian ships and kill off any crew on board.

The IPE soldiers who boarded the redarin ships soon found out that trying to take them over would be useless. There were no convential control panels like in any other human ship. Instead, the Ships were flown by AI's themselves. Furthermore there was only limited life support as the redarin AI cyborgs need very little of it.
The boarding parties soon found themselves in the precarious situation of being overwhelmed by wave after wave of Drone types who fearlessly threw themselves at them.

Meanwhile the virus had run into trouble, making it unable for it to hack the ships controls or weapons. It remained active however and kept informing the Redarins of the IPE's moves.

In Space the Redarins sent their mobile suits into battle. Just as their Orryon and USU counterparts they proved to be superior to fighters in most situations.
Although the V22 was an excelent fighter it certainly stuggled against the onslaught of the mobile Redarin suit force.
