The process of moving troops into Ethiopia was slow. They had to constantly ferry troops back and forth in cargo planes, while guarding said planes with fighter escorts. The intention was to pull off several hundred man paradrops around the same area to the east of New Cologne. A thousand men were difficult to stop, especially when they were backed up by stealth bombers and cruise missiles. Radoslav felt the wind hit him like a wall as the doors of the cargo jet opened. He checked to make sure his gear was ready, before charging out alongside Casimir and Cobb, two members of his five man squadron. Tobin and Alfarsi were somewhere behind him, but that wasn't the concern here. The problem was, would his parachute actually work. As he watched the distance to the ground close in on the instrument on his wrist, he pulled the ripcord. His parachute deployed, alongside the rest of his squad. Everyone seemed to have made it through the drop alright. Good. The invasion had begun.
A small Spektronian force of about 500 soldiers had been on their way to the East to set up more defenses. They traveled through a thick forest, so they were not view able by the para-troopers. They had spotted the cargo jets dropping troops through the thick trees up above. The Generalmajor who had been leading the forces had radio'd back to Generalleutnant Marko, the acting head of Spektronian military in Capelian Ethiopia. Marko had ordered the men to hold their positions and set up the anti air/ground defenses where they were. Seeing that the parachute troops would have to come through the forest to get to New Cologne, if they wanted to get there quickly. The men made a wall from the portable barricades they intended to set up farther East. They managed to set up the little anti air defenses they had while they saved the anti ground portable phalanx cannons up for later. Marko had ordered the New Cologne air defenses to stay on high alert and keep pointed to the East. He had also sent reinforcements of 1000 men to the Eastern front. While the 500 finished setting up their last defenses they nervously wondered whether the enemy or their reinforcements would reach them first. Marko decided to keep the fighter jets on standby just in case.
