Grey Mountain Research Facility |Surface Facility | 26 Dec 2015, 2218

Dark grey almost black storm clouds covered the area and stretched out towards the distant horizon, bringing with it the traditional sharp gusts of icy cold wind and sideways snow that was normal for a winter storm this high up in the mountains. Already, local forecasts were calling for nearly two feet of fresh snow before the dawn the following day, making this one of the worst storms to hit the area in recent history. Far below the overcast skies, the heavy flakes twisted their way from the heavens and fell against the cold concrete and metal structures that dotted the mountainside below. Inside, numerous facility workers huddled inside their respective buildings, trying their best to stay warm in the frigid temperatures that were enveloping them on this winters night.

Nearby, a small one man operated tracked plow quietly made it's way across the open area below the massive closed steel blast doors that made up the initial entry point for the underground portion of GMRF, as it's operator tried in vein to keep the snow from piling up and blocking the entrance to the facility should it need to be opened. The wind whistled and howled as it pushed against his iced canopy, pushing the average temperature down even further below zero with the combined wind chill effects. Overhead, a high yield flood light illuminating the entry way flickered momentarily against the darkness, catching the driver off guard for a second as it's light danced across the surface of the snow. He strained against the glass looking up a the light fixture for a brief moment, before he huffed to nobody in particular and continued with his work, dismissing the minor inconvenience for the time being.

After all, a malfunctioning light could be replaced at a later time when things quieted down some.

Grey Mountain Research Facility |C3 Center Of Operations| 1 Hour Later

Dr. Emily Smith, facility director and head researcher on several projects wasn't having a very good night. The slightly older but accomplished women in her early 40's was sitting at a remote interface station reserved for senior staff members deep withing the facilities operations center. Sweat was pouring down her unwrinkled face, fogging up her slim framed glasses as she shakily stared at a now black screen which only moments before had been a live feed coming from one of her many remote cameras covering the entirety of the facility.

Reaching out with an unsteady hand, the women found a interface terminal for her stations input display, and pressed the call button. A moment later, a holographic image of a woman's face appeared in a light purple outline.

"Good afternoon Director, how may I be of assistance?" Asked the soft synthetic voice over the terminals integrated speakers.

"Sari.." replied Emily before momentarily pausing to steady her voice. "Are you aware of what's going on in this sector?"

"Director, I am sorry to report that I am currently unable to accurately ascertain exactly what's going on within that sector."

"Are we contained?" She asked, continuing to peer at the screen in the hopes that she could somehow view past the darkness and learn it's secretes.

"Unknown."

The word hit Emily like a truck load of bricks. She covered her mouth with one hand, and quietly closed her eyes shut, trying to force out what possibilities now existed, and shed a single tear down her cheek.

"Sari, Initiate a priority one lock down of affected sphere and initiate a code Indigo for the rest of the facility until the situation is under control, under my directive authority."

"Confirmed Director. Beginning security shutdown time two, two, one, eight, day two six December twenty fifteen under directive authority, priority one."

Emily sank back in her chair, no longer able to contain her fear as overhead, a chime sounded indicating a chance in status, before the soft voice of Sari came over the internal PA system giving instructions for the facilities personnel.

Grey Mountain Research Facility |Surface Facility | 27 Dec 2015, 0700

"X-Ray Actual, this is Raider Wun Actual, we have arrived on site and are beginning our initial sweep of the area, time now, over."

"Raider Wun Actual, X-Ray Actual, solid copy. Proceed with caution and report back any findings. X-Ray out!"

The thin man, or he would have been if he hadn't been wearing the bulky artic gear issued for this region to all line units, who was wearing the subdued bar of butter on his shoulder identifier, rolled his eyes across the horizon at being cut off by his superiors. The man was still fresh enough out of Officer Training, that he still hadn't become accustomed to how blunt command could be at times.

"Orders sir?" Asked a slightly older and vastly more grizzled man squatting nearby on his snowshoes, who was wearing Staff Sargent rank on his identifier and was busy scanning the facility ahead of them with a handheld thermal mono scope. Around them the rest of the ten man reccee platoon from the 2nd Mountain Division sat professionally quiet in a loose defensive formation fanning out and providing them with 360 security. Or as much as could realistically be provided on the snow blasted landscape.

The LT looked around for a moment, taking stock of the immediate situation before replying.

"Looks like commands wants us to move in, secure the immediate area, and have a lookse and see who's still home." Said the Lt as he flexed his non firing gloved hand slowly trying to get some form of circulation going again.

"Right... first squad, take point and proceed along the tarmac towards the warehouse to our east. Second squad, provide over watch and move up once first has establish themselves. Move out!" The surrounding soldiers got to their respective snowshoe covered feet and proceeded to carry out their orders as best they could under the circumstances.

The findings of Raider over the course of their search was a mixed lot. The facilities vehicles were all found and accounted for, although covered in ice and snow from the previous nights storm. A few were even found with the batteries dead inside them, as if they were left running the entirety of the night. However, no sign of the areas facilities on site personal was found. Plates with half eaten meals were found in the mess hall, beds still mostly undisturbed by their owners from the previous night, and pallets of supplies still sat undisturbed in the warehouse.

The surface facilities control room was found and entered nearly forty minutes after initial arrival on site. Upon entering the room, it was discovered that one of the exterior windows had been broken during the storm, robbing the control room of much needed heat and blanketing it in frigged temperatures and ice. Special care had to be taken by the soldiers as they rebooted the systems one by one to access the door release for the main facility to prevent a blow out from an accumulation of moisture.

As the last system came online, restoring much needed lifesaving power back to parts of the surface facility, the LT radioed his finding back to command.

"X-Ray Actual, this is Raider Wun Actual, surface site secured at this time. We have secured command and control and has reestablished limited access to the heart of the facility. No sign of the garrison, and requesting further, over."

The only thing to come over the com relay for the next few moments was light static from interference with the mountain's terrain. The Lt was about to try again when a reply finally came through.

"Raider Wun Actual, X-Ray Actual, Frago follows..." There was a pause in the communications before further came through.

"Raider is to break the seal and proceed interior to reestablish communications and assess the situation first hand. Override commands are being linked to your PDA time now, and you are to proceed with all due haste, over."

The LT looked as his wearable PDA attached to his forearm and watched as a email icon flashed on his display, indicating a new message. With his finger, he flipped open the communication and linked it's contents to the interface via it's wireless interface.

"X-Ray Actual, this is Raider Wun Actual, command recieved. Breaking the seal and entering the facility time now. Will report back with a SITREP every wun five mikes for the duration of our incursion. Raider Wun out."

As he un keyed his mic, orange flashers running the length of the blast doors came online and started to strobe a construction orange light across the white landscape. A moment later, the thick metallic locks could be clearly heard disengaging from their berths before the doors started to swing open on their massive hydraulic hinges, pushing the snowdrift in front of it away like it was nothing.

"Alright people.." said the grizzled Staff Sargent as he check the batteries on his rail mounted surefire tac light. "I want two columns with a five meter spread whenever possible. Keep it tight and remember, three sixty security as we advance. LT, stick close to me in the middle as we go. I can't afford to come find you if you wander off and get lose down there." He said as he smiled towards the now glaring LT.

"Move out!" He said as the group assumed their well versed positions and set foot into the entry level of the facility. As the last man cleared, the blast doors automatically closed in behind them for security purposes, leaving the exterior of the facility once again void of any and all signs of life, safe for the occasional drift of snow being pushed around on the wind.

Dominion Special Operations Command (DSOC) | 27 Dec 2015, 1122

General Fergus MacGowan was not pleased.

The hard lines of the battle hardened and scarred man who had only recently been promoted following the untimely death of his predecessor General Edward Stern, normally made it hard for those around the man to accurately assert his current mood. However, even now his mannerisms betrayed him, and it was clear to everyone around him that he was downright pissed at the developing situation.

Or perhaps it was the stack of charts that the man angrily flipped across the room just moments before.

With a gaze that could cut glass from a mile away, the man turned towards the communications officer sitting nearby.

"Make the call." Was all he said before turning his gaze back upon the interactive tabletop display before him, and at the latest development displayed to him on it's surface.

"Yes Sir." Said the man before pulling up a corresponding list from his terminals display and dialing out.

"Get me Task Force Atlas command..." he said and waited to be patched through.

Final Approach to Joint Base Cloverfield|1 January 2016, 1410

"Sir, are you sure that you want me to bring the Gustav on this op? From what we've been briefed on, it seems that if we see any combat, it'll be indoors. The backblast alone is a potential risk for other operatives, then there's the concern for collateral damage." Inquired Sergeant Lin, as she calmly threaded a sound suppressor on the muzzle of her carbine, while her partner and assistant gunner, Sergeant Ren, did the same to her weapon.

Captain "AckAck" gave a curt nod, before justifying his command to his subordinates. "Affirmative, Lin. While it's uses is severely limited by the environment, those uses are enough for me consider it be an asset worth carrying around, as for your concerns about the backblast... That's why I've acquisitioned three CS rounds for it."

The woman only responded with a similar nod give to her by her Captain, afterwards taking a quick gaze to the backpack and launcher secured next to her. Upon doing so, a faint sigh escaped her lips, an action that had not escaped MSgt. Oso. He merely gave a reassuring nod to the younger WIG operator, prior to returning to just looking straight ahead, already focused for what's to come.

"So what's the ROE, sir?" Asked Ren.

"Fire on my lead. Anymore questions?" Tersely replied Muholland.

Everyone remained silent after the fact, all of them steeling themselves for what they might face on the mission. They're as prepared as they're going to be for the mission.

Joint Base Cloverfield|1 January 2016, 1418

The pilot notified the four Rynagrians in the transport bay, they're flight coming to a close soon, hovering over and landing on the landing pad several minutes after the announcement. Standing up, the four stretched their arms and legs in anticipation of the upcoming mission, before grabbing their gear and exiting the craft. Captain Muholland lead from the front, the four of them instinctively going into a tight wedge formation.

Operation Paramount
Sgt. Amy Pitt
Jan 1, 2016
1425 Hours
Going to Work

The C-130J was on final approach, not far behind the Rynagrian helicopter. The pilot contacted the control tower for clearance to land, as this was the best kind of weather they were expecting today. Meanwhile, the Sergeant in back was prepping herself.

"So tell me, why am I the only one being sent in again?" Amy asked a crimson-haired woman sitting next to her with an eye patch over her left eye.

"I've got a good feeling about you. I want to see what you can do on your own without the rest of your squad. Think of this as a trial." The woman replied.

"Alright, but what's the deal then? No briefing whatsoever, just get on the plane and go. What the hell?"

"Intel was as followed. This nation lost all inside contact and communications from one of their research facilities, and the QRF that went in to check it out. Atlas was called upon to help."

"What the fuck, ma'am?! You're sending me in alone to some high-tech research facility with that kind of info? Who'd I piss off to get this?!"

"Now now, like I said, this is a trial for you to overcome. Besides, you aren't alone. There's at least ten others with you."

"Lovely."

"I also got your new equipment. Pack your HK33 and your USP away into those crates in exchange for the weapons inside. You'll need some better suited weapons for this kind of climate."

"But I'll be operating inside the facility."

"Yes, but what happens if you find yourself outside for whatever reason?"

"Okay, point taken. Can I go now?"

The Sergeant stood up from her seat and looked to the woman, who only smiled.

"We'll see you back, safe and sound."

That was yet to be determined, but Amy let it slide like the lid of the crate she cracked open. Inside was a brand new Ak 5C and a custom 1911 that her nation was known for making. She exchanged the weapons after looking them over and repacked her ammo pouches. She also slipped on a field jacket over herself along with a watch cap that had been specially made to fit for her ears. It looked stupid big, but at least it kept her head and ears warm. She pulled up her face mask, also a winterized variant of the usual one, though she planned on taking it off once they got inside.

Pitt stepped off the ramp of the C-130 and looked out onto the landscape. The cold reminded her of home a lot, as did the landscape. She noticed the other squad moving out like they were in hostile territory. Well, that'd be yet to be seen, but Pitt slung her rifle over her shoulder and walked on down to see the liaison for their mission. Hopefully, they'd have good news about the QRF and they could go home. Still, that was a long shot, and she knew it.

Final Approach to Joint Base Cloverfield|1 January 2016

The Antonov An-32 has been on air for a long time. This will be the first major operation within Task Force Atlas where Garuda Corps is involved. A reformed and modernized special forces, Garuda Corps has been the pride of Asmoro's military for years but apart from operations within the borders and in the region, no operations known to be done outside the borders and region, with or without the involvement of other operators.

"Sir, what do we expect when we hit the facility? From the briefing, it seems the facility did some major experiments on humans, and we have to...um..heavily prepare for non-humans?" asked Corporal Hana to 1st Lieutenant Nikolas Luna, which is the current leader in this ops. After all, he's the vice leader. She is newly selected to the Omega corps, and despite lack of field experience as special forces operator, she is quite good during her regular years, being an engineer and all.

"We will expect humans. Mostly. And few non-humans, probably. But don't worry, Corporal Hana. We will work with other operators from other nations, none of which we know personally, I may add on that one." said Nikolas to Hana. Meanwhile, Corporal Elisa, the other female operator in their Omega corps quite fit in fast and currently she's listening to the radio while cleaning her MP5. This will be her second operation, first as a reinforcement during an insurgent operation at Malaya.

"Alright, listen up squad, or girls, in this case," said Nikolas, grinning with a goofy smile, Hana smiled back while Elisa nodded, "We will arrive shortly at Joint Base Cloverfield, so arm your weapons and arm your suit. Once we are on the ground, we will coordinate with the others and prepare our logistics. Although we already have our own logistics, preparing more is acceptable."

"Yes, Lieutenant!"

Shortly after that, the flight coming to a close soon, landing safely on the landing pad after announcing their arrival to the control flight tower. The exit went out and the three operators went down from the plane, line formation from back to front.

C-130 FINAL APPROACH TO CLOVERFIELD JOINT BASE
2116

The engines of the C-130 roared through the night sky as it maneuvered on it's finale approach to the landingstrip of Joint Base Cloverfield. More of the landscape came into view as the plane descended below the clouds of the night sky, the full moon illuminated the landscape below the transport. The only visible signs of activity was the red and blue flashing lights of the runway.

Inside the cargo department of the behemoth C-130 the four members of 5th SOG shook and jerked as turbulence shook the plane as it descended. The only noise coming from the four massive engines of the plane. The members of SOG were illuminated by the red cargo bay light, SSGT Fortait was finishing stowing the last of his gear into his 3-day pack and SGT Smith let out a slight cough.

The men were able to sleep a little on the journey from garrison to their present destination, a trip that took a little over 14 hours to accomplish. The four men were feeling the affects of "jet lag" to an extent but none were showing it, or speaking of it. Each man's face held a stone expression not showing any emotion of any kind, also in tradition of SOG operator's in the past, each man had painted their faces a deep black taking away their identity with the symbolic gesture.

1st SGT Church cleared his throat as he began to speak in a raspy deep voice that only years of service and hard life could produce. 1st SGT Church is given all the respect in the world from the men of SOG, having become a living legend in the community.

"The few details that we were given leave a lot to the imagination, this can be as simple as telling someone to answer the phone or." 1st SGT paused as he tried to think of how to finish his statement. "Or I don't know, apparently they did some real spook shit at this place, stay frosty out there.'

1st SGT's echoed through the the minds of each man present, leaving hat they may face to the imagination of each soldier. Thoughts of the movie resident evil and the hive ran through the mind of SSGT Fortait as he thought about zombies, but he quickly gave a small smirk and brushed them out of his head, such silly thoughts were not needed on this mission.

Captain Lombay had sit quietly for the majority of this flight, but after 1st SGT finished his quick brief he spoke. "I know we have been left in the dark about this but we can't expect a nation to spill their secrets via email now an we."

The Captain's attempt at a joke was received from the team with a laugh. "We will receive a more detailed brief hen we land. Now I cannot stress to you the importance of this mission, this will be our first mission with task force atlas and this will determine if SOG remains a part of TFA, let's not disappointment any member of the task force and show them what gentlemen bastards you are..... Tip Valhalla!"

The unofficial motto rung out as the men shouts it back in unison
"Til Valhalla!"

With a quick jerk the plane came to a stop, and the bay door opened as the men of SOG grabbed their gear and departed the plane wearing their tiger striped pattern combat uniform and painted black faces.

Citadel Pendragon, Cassel, Confederated States of Avalon
The barracks was full of men in grey form fitting boxers as they watched a game of chargeball on one TV while on another they were playing a video game, well one guy was playing some game set in the dark ages and was a necromancer attempting to fight his way through Hell and face Satan. In the mess area though one group of five was listening to loud music and playing on mops and brooms while another banged on drums, the fourth was banging pans together while the last sang into a dust pan.

"Anyone got shine? Scuffed my shoes last night on a girl's headboard." One young man was laughing as he tried desperately to clean a scuff off his dress shoes. "Nope, you are so screwed. Seventh class is gonna chew your ass like bubble gum, Cossack." Swordsman Third class Ulric sighed as he looked down at his shoe, the scuff had wood dust in it. "You think jerking off on it would lube it up enough?" The seriousness in his face caused all who heard to laugh and fall about the place.

"Just tell him it is not your fault his mother's headboard is so rough." A dark skinned man with a red cross tattooed over his heart looked down at the shoe, "Dont worry, sacker, he wont notice. Here take some of this." Ulric was offered an amber colored jug from the other man, he accepted it and took a swig, it was starbright. "Saddleman, that is some of the best drink I've had since leaving home. Save that, we will have it when," the noise in the room had lessened to silent without Ulric noticing, everyone else standing and saluting the door.

"What am I looking at?" A stout man in white dress uniform had walked into the barracks, "I thought I walked into the barracks of the DEMONs, instead I see a naked festival of Knights dancing around and acting like fools just because the war is over. You are supposed to be the best our nation has to offer," he glared at the fifty some men all assembled, "so act like it! Ulric, you've been assigned an op. Here is you fucking briefing." The Seventh class threw a manilla folder at Ulric, "Get your uniform on and get your ass down to the runway." The enlisted commander fanned his finger over the whole unit, "So help me the love of our Messiah, if I see this again I will personally rip every single one of your collective balls off and use them for golf and your skills will be my damn jock straps and beer cups. Straighten up or I will fuck you up!" The short and stout senior Knight slammed the barracks door behind him as he left. The disappointed troops all stopped partying and returned to shining their boots and cleaning their weapons. Meanwhile Ulric got prepared for his op. After getting his service dress on he ran over to the runway.

Once on the runway he was briefed fully, given the SIA rundown of it all, and given an experimental set of equipment. The armor weighed less than his entire loadout, yet covered his body five times more. He also was given a shield that weighed barely anything yet was sturdy enough to get some force behind in a thrust. He'd investigate it more on the ride over, for now though he climbed on the plane and was taken to meet up with the rest of Task Force Atlas.

Inside an An-127 in the skies near Cloverfield Joint Base

One of the largest aircraft in the world, the An-127's roared through the clouds. Inside were the operatives of the 4th team of the 666th SLAM, their equipment, and a Tigr OV. It soon started it's decent towards the base.

The team minus Dmitri were assembled inside the cargo bay next to the Tigr. The soldiers barely got any sleep due to the turbulence which was common. They were going to start their briefing, but somehow they lost Dmitri in the practically empty aircraft. Beachmaster looked up from his LPM-42 Flamethrower, and sighed.

"Where the hell is he? He can't have gone anywhere. We didn't leave him behind, did we?" He asked.

"Why are you so worried? He's probably sleeping on the flight deck or under the Tigr." Ruzainav replied. "Just wait. He's going to show up sooner or later."

Dmitri Lezavdrov looked all over the plane in search of his 7.62 ammunition for his XM8S3. Somehow, during this long flight to Cloverfield, he managed to lose an entire box of ammunition on an aircraft. After searching the flight deck for the ammunition, he found it inside the bathroom on the cargo bay. He quickly grabbed it and ran to the others, who were starting a briefing.

"Who hid ammo?" He began. He was about to begin yelling in broken English before Merkava stopped him.

"Leze, now is not the time." She stated. As Leze stood next to Ruzainav, she began. "Alright, this will be out first mission with TFA, so do your best. We aren't representing the SLAM, we are representing the entire Yuktobanian Military. And remember, one of us might not make it home, so be careful. We'll get more information once we get off the plane."

The team nodded, absorbing the information. The team saluted and were about to go do their things when the intercom crackled. "Final approach. Please strap into your seats." The pilot said.

The team ran to their seats, strapping themselves in in a hurry. Leze looked outside the window as the terrain got closer and closer. As the An-127 swayed with flaps down 75 percent and gear down, it's massive wheels touched down on the runway.

Joint Base Cloverfield

Lucas looked around, as more operators from the Task Force arrived for the operation, his eyes lingering a few of individuals and teams. First was the woman with animal ears, receiving a raised eyebrow from the senior member, before shaking his head and muttering something under his breath, something along the lines of, "not even going to ask". Lastly were the soldiers that had painted their faces black, muttering quietly to himself once again, but it was said by Lin out loud.

"Black Paint isn't really going to be practical here with how cold it can get...... I mean not like we can say anything about our woodland camo, but if it works for them, that's their own decision." Pointed out Lin to her partner, while taking glances at the animal eared soldier herself, curious of how they exactly worked. Ren really couldn't care any less, as she relaxed and let her carbine be hang to the side of her. Seeing this, Muholland spoke to his fireteam.

"Alright, Fireteam Alpha, relax yourselves. We don't have to be so tense, not yet....... Well, let's do a pre-mission logistics check first. How's everyone with ammunition?"

Lucas would be the first to speak. "200 round belt loaded, 600 rounds extra in my pack. Eight extra magazines for the MEU(SOC)."

"Ten magazines in reserve, six extra magazines for my pistol." Continued on Lin, snapping out of the focus she gave to the Froxian.

Ren was the last say, "Ten magazines in reserve, six extra mags for my pistol, and three CE rounds for the Gustav. I also have thirty magazines extra for anybody that needs it."

With a content nod, Muholland then signaled them to fall out of the formation the have taken, instead pairing up. Lin and Ren stayed together, chatting amongst themselves about the rest of Recon Squad Three, who were left back at base. While the Master Sergeant and Muholland conversed about each other's thought of the mission, what they're chances are of success with the current teams and the possibility of someone biting the dust early.

Joint Base Cloverfield

The air was crisp with the chill of winter, hinting at the possibility of foul weather to come later on in the evening. The man standing casually before the arriving foreign teams, a DSOC Officer and veteran of several undisclosed campaigns on the international scene, wore a dark grey standard winter parka that was lined with natural fur along both the sleeve cuffs and attached hood to protect himself against winters worst. On his normally shaved head, the man was wearing a matching grey knit cap over which a set of wrap around tinted goggles were firmly nestled against the soft knit fabric, which if the sun ever decided to show it's face again, would help protect the man from sun blindness.

Blowing into his gloved hands, the man rubbed them against each other momentarily trying to work some sense or warmth and circulation back into them, but in the end, it accomplished little. He watched with uncaring eyes as the forces of Atlas arrived and disembarked from their respective aircraft and approached him. Once what he felt was the majority of them was within earshot, he decided to address them.

"Greetings soldiers" He said with only the slightest smile appearing on his face "And welcome Joint Base Cloverfield. You should feel honored, as you are the first foreign soldiers to be allowed on Dominion soil in nearly a generation."

The man paused for a second as he looked over the assorted group before him.

"My name, is Major Breckenridge. I will be your official liaison and operational command for the duration of your stay and mission here in my homeland. Task Force Atlas's reputation as a professional force proceeds you, and as such, I expect that you will extend every courtesy in return to every one given to you by this administration during the duration of your stay."

"Our ride to the AO is currently being made ready in the nearby heated hanger, and will be ready shortly. Until that time, you will be allowed to make full use of the attached pilots ready room and dormitories while you wait. After saying that, he politely gestured with his gloved hand toward the nearby heated buildings, indicating where they needed to go.

Swordsman Ulric ensured his gear was all in check before heading towards the hangar, he figured it was going to be some frostbitten Hell hole based on the alpine camo gear he'd been assigned. The mostly white pattern was specked with the occasional flecks of forest like color here and there. He decided to sprint to give the weight of the armor a chance, which running through the snow proved to be and ease with. he figured it was probably massively expensive for all of it being as this was the first set, but he had full coverage armor that felt honestly as if he were naked; he felt as if he could headbutt a monster to the face and laugh afterwards, REDD outdid themselves this time.

Once arriving in the hangar he looked over the armor more in detail, it was a skin tight undersuit from what he could feel, over that were some form of metal tube series that allowed total movement of his joints. His whole body was covered in white plates, yet they had been perfected so much that he could easily move in any direction at any angle in whatever posed he chose. His full coverage helmet had a two orbital shaped visor opening and even had a pull down glass visor of some sort mounted on top of it. His vest had thirty round magazines tucked two thick in multiple pouches, on the support belt that came off his backpack was a series of medical pouches. In his bag was twenty four hours of supplies, more medical gear, equipment to recover data from inside the facility, and attached on his bag was a kite shaped shield of a strange dark silver color, despite being as thick as a dark age shield it was amazingly light to the point that it only could have weighed five pounds. Little to Ulric's knowledge this was the wonders of a newly discovered material known as graphene for now, his whole set of armor total cost upwards of one and a half million thalers to produce, but if successful could be mass manufactured and developed to cheapen the process; that was if it held up though, and this was soon to be a test of fire and ice, little did he know that High Command knew exactly what Grey Mountain held and just why his briefing had been only his objective: Recover all information for the DSOC, and a very vague terrain report.

At this time, if you have any logistical concerns or needs, now is the time to bring them forward to me so that we can have you ready to move once transport is available."

After saying that, he politely gestured with his gloved hand toward the nearby heated buildings, indicating where they needed to go.

As the SF squads being directed to the nearby heated buildings, Lieutenant Nikolas approached Major Breckenridge.

"Good afternoon, Major. My name is Lieutenant Nikolas Luna, that's the rank first, and I'm leading the Altito Asmoro's Garuda Corps SF squad. It's kind of a long introduction but it's needed. I want to ask something, if possible to be provided, my combat engineer has a stealth drone, it's suited for combat and scout. I was wondering about how strong the radio signal near the facility so that I can use the drone to scout the inside of the facility looking for survivors and if it's not strong, then I need a radio signal booster to provide the drone with enough signals so that it can works properly. Is it possible to be provided, Major?" asked Lieutenant Nikolas to Major Breckenridge, matter-of-fact and to the point, except it's a bit too long for it to be "to the point" style of speaking.

"And can I ask for Geiger counters and three lighters as well, Major? It's for our use to determine radiation scale inside the facility, if any."

Meanwhile Corporal Hana and Corporal Elisa had went inside the buildings and currently checking their ammunition. They have enough spare, but they both worried that it may not enough if they counter...something beyond human imagination. They brought along few HP and AP bullets as well.

"Alpha, go rest up for a bit on one of those buildings, and if possible mingle a bit with the other operatives. That's it for now, I'll be talking with the Major." Promptly ordered Muholland to his fireteam, after Breckenridge had introduced himself to everyone here, the three nodding their heads and carrying out the command. With the Master Sergeant leading, they secured their stuff and moved to one of the buildings, where they appreciated the warmer temperature in there. Seeing them off, Muholland walked right next to Lieutenant Nicholas, asking his own set of questions.

"Pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Major Breckenridge, my apologies for being terse with you sir, but I would like the following items..... If possible, might my team acquire some 30 hand warmers, four Balaclavas, at least ten chafing dish fuel cans, four lighters, and perhaps Geiger counters."

Meanwhile, the rest of the team rested not far from the Asmoroians, Lin and Ren resting their stuff on the floor, while approaching the two operatives. Oso, on the other hand just continued to stay back, not much of a talker himself, content with watching the packs and the Gutsav. Ren would be the first one to speak in an attempt for a conversation. "Hello, nice to see more women on this op, I was kinda worried that only the two of us would the only females here. Oh yeah, I'm Sergeant Renee McAvoy, but you can just call me Ren."

Lin, less enthusiastic about talking, merely waved at them. A sudden soft elbow from her partner caused her to jump a bit, already knowing what that was suppose to mean. "I-I'm Sergeant Linda Wei, but most call me Lin."

Hana looked up and saw a woman as well. She breathed a sigh of relief, as she now finally able to be more comfortable as there are other women. Elisa is not much of a talker and she's a lot quiet and only talks on mission but she's all-round nice. Harsh upbringing, maybe? "Oh, hello there, Sergeant...I mean, Ren. I'm Corporal Hana Setiawan, but you can call me Hana, or Corporal Hana, Sergeant...I mean, uh," said Hana, she began to panicked as she realized Ren is higher rank than her, but then Elisa put a hand on her head, and warmly calming her down, "Calm down, Hana, don't be panicked. If she's angry because we didn't called her Sergeant, we can talk about it, right...Ren?" asked Elisa as she looked up to Ren's eyes.

"Oh, oh, okay, Elisa, thanks. Oh and hi, Sergeant Lin." said Hana, quieter. "Nice to meet you two, I'm Corporal Elisa Gunawan, people call me Elisa all the time, or Elis." said Elisa calmly, as she stood up and move aside and grabbed two bottle of water from inside the building, gave the one to Hana and the other to herself.

"Here, take the water, Hana, you'll be calmer."

Swordsman Ulric sat down on a bench, nearby some soldiers were all talking, he instead pulled a a book from a pouch on the side of his vest, it was a Thomas Chance novel titled Feet First and was about the Anglician Dragon Knights as they flew night raids behind Gallician enemy lines back in the Second Great War, so far one had been shot down and it was a split narrative between him trying to survive in hostile Gallicia and attempting to make his way towards occupied Hansa in order to meet up with allied forces and be rescued while his team on the other hand continued their normal missions while trying to locate and save him. So far it was becoming very sad as one member of the Dragon Knights had passed out pulling a tight roll at highspeed and died without ever even knowing it was coming, with two men down the now team of four was tasked with conducting a daring bombing campaign of several high valued targets at night with danger close firebombing. Ulric was on the edge of his seat as the words unfurled before him, every page was a treasure as the emotion and aura of the piece spoke to him vividly. After reading through several chapters he forced himself to stop, it was best to kill time, but also keep focused on his mission.

The Yuktobanians were not used to the cold at all, considering they were from the desert city of Jilachi. Each soldier tried unsuccessfully rubbing their hands together, which didn't help. The entire team was wearing winter coats, but the weather still made them shiver. Merkava glanced at Beachmaster.

"Did you bring the LPM or RPO?" She asked.

"RPO. Single thermobaric plus incendiary warheads." He replied.

Leze sat on a bench nearby, watching the rest of the team follow. He looked at the other operators talking or doing something on their own while they waited. It was then that he remembered that he was supposed to check if he had his vodka or not. He took off his backpack and opened it, checking the inside for Vodka. In between his ammunition and food was the bottle. He smiled, closing the backpack and holding it.

Meanwhile Beachmaster was taking a walk around the Tarmac, still shivering from the cold. He glanced around at the other operators before continuing to walk. He eventually went in a circle, and ended at his team. They were still sitting at the bench, waiting for the transport to be ready.

Joint Base Cloverfield

Breckenridge paused for a moment, looking at the two men standing before him before turning his head to the side and calling out in a stern yet firm voice.

"Sargent of the watch!"

Another brief moment passed, before another Dominion soldier appeared from inside the nearby hanger. Unlike Breckenridge however, this man was wearing soft armor over his chest and had a drop down serpa holster with a standard issue 10mm sidearm secured firmly within. Above his right bicep over his uniform, the man also wore an elastic armband with the letters "CP" boldly printed upon it.

"Sir?" Asked the man.

Reaching out, Breckenridge lifted the velcro flap over one of the mans pouches attached to his uniform and pulled out a black device the size of a old school flip phone. He turned and held the device out for either of the men to take from his gloved hand.

"While the facility itself will be equipped with such devices in all rel event areas, take this with you just in case. This here is a 3rd generation Geiger, modeled after the civilian Onyx Medcom model. Very easy to use, with one button on/off function and a clear and bright LCD display. As for the rest of your requested items lads, I will have logistics make a run for them and have them waiting for you on board the transport when it's made ready."

As if one que, a metallic grinding sound could be heard coming from the hanger behind them. Breckenridge turned his gaze in the direction of the sound, and found that the vast hanger doors were being pushed open by ground crew personnel, indicating that the aircraft mechanically was ready and that it was being positioned for pre flight checks by the aircrew.

"Sargent, make sure that those items are ready and on that aircraft as soon as possible."

"Yes Sir." Replied the man who turned and briskly walked off into the distance to carry out his orders.

"Now then" Said Breckenridge turning back to the two men standing before him

"I'm afraid that your drone operator is going to have one hell of a time keeping a viable connection with that drone due to a number of circumstances. The two big ones being that the base was purposely constructed to be shielded from outside radio signals, due to the sensitive nature of the facility. Internally speaking, your not going to fare much better as the construction materials used in the base's construction will also hinder and absorb radio waves as well. However, the base does have a internal network in place, which you should be able to tap into once you reach the initial docking hub at the end of the entry tunnel."

"Now if you will excuse me gentlemen, I have matters to attend to that require my attention before we depart." Said Breckenridge semi questionably, as he glanced back and forth between the two men.

As the teams went about their various tasks to kill time while they waited, the transport VTOL was taxied out to it's respective launch pad by ground personnel which allowed the two Dominion to approach the craft and begin their pre-flight checks. Trailing shortly behind them, the flights door gunner was carrying the crafts pair of the side mounted mounted HMG's over his shoulders and made his way to the aircraft for preparations as well. It wouldn't be long now, before everything was set and the foreign fighters could begin boarding for their flight.

Inside the building, a metallic cackle was heard briefly as the overhead PA system suddenly came to life.

"Attention all personnel, twenty minute warning for outbound flight to Golf Mike Romeo Foxtrot on vtol pad charlie. At this time, please secure all belonging and make sure that all requisition orders are filed for the coming mission. That is all."

As suddenly as it came, the metallic cackle was heard once again as the mic feed through the PA was cut, leaving behind it a momentary silence inside the building.

Swordsman Ulric looked at the device, a Geiger counter would come in useful. He accepted it before Breckenridge walked off leaving Task Force Atlas to their own devices.
"Alright, who ever takes the Geiger either does recon ahead to scout out hazards or stay with the main section to ensure we don't turn into big green monsters." The Knight looked to the device, it was stable right now, he suspected soon though that it would be going off like mad since it was even offered, that was usually not a good sign.

"Now, granted I don't know any of you all, but it is my opinion we operate as one cohesive unit instead of a series of units. In the facility or comms might go down based on what he just said about the effect this place has on radio frequency, probably best a team focuses on securing the network and grant us control over it so we can operate from there without losing our communication and various technological advantage. We also should lay out goals and objectives, we should all have the same common goal, but as you know superior officers up the chain tend to get confused easily," if one listened hard enough it could be sworn he laughed at that statement, "so it is best we form our own plans and attack this puppy from our own angle. My specialization is unconventional warfare and support, so I can fill any role that is open and change positions as needed while we adapt to the environment around us." Ulric hoped he was not being too forward, but communication was going to be key here, and he was sure his fellow operators knew that too.

Ren just smiled kindly at the Asmoroian, before giving her own response to the latter's question. "No need for the formality there, you can call us by our nicknames, as interestingly enough, they're also our callsigns for this operation. In fact, our squad uses their given nicknames as their callsigns, for example our squad XO is Scarecrow. So don't worry about calling us by our ranks."

Lin only gave a nod in agreement, as it was the truth and she couldn't really add anymore than she could have. Instead, she opted for introducing the rest of the Fireteam Alpha, starting by indicating to Master Sergeant Lucas Smith. "That old man over there," Lin joked with a small smile, "is Oso, our Automatic Rifleman. Our CO's the one talking with the Major, right next to your CO. Captain AckAck, leader of Fireteam Alpha."

Meanwhile, Muholland gave the Major a salute as he walked away, after vocally saying his thanks for the supplies. He then turned at the individual who had taken the counter, the Avalonian, feelings already mixed about him, Muholland even gave a side glance to the Asmoroian Operator beside him to see his reaction. Back to the matters at hand, he noted to him silently that all of the TFA operators could have been given one, but there was nothing he could do about that. It would cause less depence on the facility and the person that would inevitably hold the device.

"With all due respect, I don't think anyone of us will be transforming into a monster anytime soon, even if we are exposed to lethal levels of radiation..... And if you don't know us, might as well start now. Rynagrian Warfare and Intelligence Group, Recon Squad Three CO, callsign AckAck." Began Muholland, continuing on immediately to give a response.

"Securing a way of communication through the network should be no trouble, after all, the area where we can access it is one of the first location we should reach relatively shortly after landing. And our objective should trying to establish contact with the staff, every course of action taken will be based on the result of that." Muholland then skipped over the part of him laughing at the ability of Superior Officers. "One more thing, you speak of cohesion, but say to create separate plans to accomplish the mission, which is it?"

"Ah, okay then, thanks again." said Hana, now calmer and better. "So that's your callsign? An interesting one. And from what you're saying, it seems to me that you are here alongside all of your comrades in the squad, right? There are only three of us here. The lieutenant is over there, alongside your CO, is Lieutenant Nikolas Luna, the vice fireteam leader and the designated marksman in our squad."

Elisa nodded, agreeing to the statement. Meanwhile, Nikolas saluted the Major as he went away, vocally gave the acknowledgment and the thanks over the supplies and explanation about the use of the drone. Muholland noted to him silently that one of them could gave him the counter as well, but then again it maybe not the best solution.

"With all due respect, we don't even know what kind of monster we will become, though. Garuda Corps, 1st Battalion, Omega Tactical Corps, Lieutenant Nikolas Luna."

"Yes, securing communication will be our first priority. Once we secure the communications, the rest would be kind of easier, probably. I have a plan, in which we use my squad's drone to scout the inside of the facility once we get access to the internal network of the facility. It's a scout drone but refitted with light machine gun to defend itself when it gets attacked and provide us with more firepower. My drone has a stealth capability itself and it is quite tough itself, so instead of...splitting up inside, using the drone to scout first is not a bad idea. What do you think, sir?" asked Luna to Muholland, looking for a response.

The Anglician Knight overheard the conversation about the drone, and while he wanted to explain his idea of forming one single unit structure while setting up shop once they located the computer network Ulric simply shrugged. "Welp, nice talk. I'll leave y'all be then." He turned before walking onto the plane, today was going to be a long day, but so long as he completed the mission that is all that mattered, he'd probably never see these guys again so it is not like it mattered if he knew them, they were big boys and girls and could surely operate in their own capacity; like they really needed a central command structure or anything like that.

So after walking to the transport on its launchpad the swordsman fastened himself in and the older operator was prepared to go. He looked towards Breckenridge before speaking, "Sir, there are not current updates on the facility? Also, is there a map I can get ahold of? I would much appreciate being able to see the lay out before we head down there as the main hub of communication and signals will be needed and the fastest route there is a must." Ulric was already thinking of how they'd communicate in the facility. It was very likely any and all signals would not work until sent through the facility's interface, and if that took awhile to secure that would ensure total radio silence, which could operationally be horrible in this environment.

Sergeant Pitt hadn't gone inside like the rest of the team had. She was no stranger to cold, as cold as it was. She twitched her ears and held her arms over her chest. Her rifle was slung over her shoulder, and seemed to be putting up well with the winter conditions. She looked over as the ground crew taxied out the VTOL. Great, VTOL. Just what they needed. Her country never really trusted the VTOL system, not when they had helicopters for that job. She sighed after looking back out into the snowy landscape. A research facility all the way would certainly discourage people from seeing it. Whether an invading army or a usual avid explorer. She walked out to the VTOL and noticed that most of the other teams were still inside.

Pitt opened the door wide, letting the bitter and frigid cold inside to assault anyone who hadn't got out when told.

"Hey! Ride's here, let's move it! Time's wasting and I'm freezing my tail off!" She barked.

Merkava looked at the VTOL that was moved to it's launchpad, and looked back at her team.

"Let's head off." She stated as she started walking towards the VTOL.

Beachmaster slowly walked behind her, hauling the 40mm grenades and the RPO towards the helicopter. Behind Beachmaster was Ruzainav holding his trusty XM8A3 LMG, and Leze with his XM8S3 slung over his chest. Leze, as usual, was drinking his share of vodka while walking, seemingly not effected by the cold anymore. Everyone else was shivering. As the team got to the VTOL, they got inside and strapped themselves in.

Merkava's first instinct when she sat was to immediately load her XM8A6. She also loaded in the 20mm grenades into the built in grenade launcher on the back. After checking that the gun is on safety so that she didn't accidently kill everyone inside, she relaxed, slowly dozing off while everyone else was awake.

Joint Base Cloverfield

As the various members of the task force boarded the aircraft and secured their seating, the two pilots sitting comfortably in the aircraft cabin made quick work of the preflight checks and started to bring the twin engines online. A high pitched whine could be heard throughout the aircraft as the motors were electrically engaged, before the main drives kicked in and started to rotate the massive driveshafts themselves. The advanced composite blades started to slowly spin at first overhead, however they quickly gained speed and soon were ripping through the cold air at mind numbing speeds and sending a cloud of loose snow flying into the distance from the large amounts of propwash.

The flights gunner quickly made his was around the cabin, checking to make sure everyone was strapped in and that all gear was properly secured. Once everything was to his satisfaction, he reached out and closed the heavy sliding door with a metallic click as it locked into place. He then calmly walked back to his station and gave a thumbs up towards the cockpit, indicating that they were good to go for takeoff. The engines gained in noise volume once more, as the throttle was opened up fully before the aircraft finally took to the air.

Like a fat ballerina, the aircraft lifted semi gracefully into the cold winter sky until it reached an altitude where it could transition safely. Here, the aircraft paused for a second, if shakily due to the crosswinds, before the nacelles rotated in place and brought the props into the travel position, allowing the aircraft to begin it's forward flight towards the AO.

The base, now far below them, slowly disappeared from sight as the distance between them rapidly became greater. With any luck, the flight would reach the destination in about an hours travel safely and Atlas could
finally begin it's mission. The only thing left to do now was wait.

Grey Mountain Research Facility | 1H15MIN LATER

Bleak was a great way to describe the scene spanning below them, as the craft started it's approach to the LZ. Grey Mountain was nestled high up among the mountains in the norther region of the continent, making it hard to get to on even a good day. To say that the flight was going smooth so far, would have been a stretch at best.

Strong crosswinds coming down out of the mountains had been bouncing the aircraft around now for about five minutes as they traveled through almost non stop pockets of turbulence on their approach. The pilots tried their best to compensate, but there was only so much even they could do in the current conditions.

The aircraft circled the surface portion of the facility once, making sure that the landing pad was clear for their approach in and providing the team a first look at the facility. It's cold grey concrete structures were covered in a fresh layer of snow and ice, which had accumulated in the last storm to pass through and thanks to the current situation, had yet to be cleared away. The massive blast door and entry into the facility itself was carved directly into the stone face of the mountain, and loomed like a giant closed maw over the entirety of the surface facility.

Moving among the structures, members of the Dominion security force dispatched to secure the site could be seen going about their various tasks. From the altitude however, they looked like little ants scurrying about an artificial hive admits the frozen landscape. These ants however, soon started to rapidly grow in size, as the aircraft transitioned from it's flight mode into VTOL and started it's decent back towards the frozen earth from the windswept heavens.

In about a minutes time, the aircraft touched down in a cloud of snow on the landing pad, and the side door was unlocked and slide open for the embarked members of Atlas to disembark. The passengers quickly unbuckled, gathered their gear, and left the aircraft in a crouched position to avoid the still spinning blades overhead as they exited the craft and made their way down a set of metallic stairs off the pad and into a neighboring staging area.

With the last member clear, the door was closed again and the aircraft once again lifted off into the cold sky overhead, wasting no time at all. Within a few short minutes, it had turned around and disappeared from both visual and hearing range as it made it's way back to the Joint Base. The members that made up the task force, were left standing in silence with the facility sprawled out before them.

"Welcome to Grey Mountain Atlas." Said Breckenridge with a smile before turning and heading off to find the senior NCO on site to get a SITREP from.

It was up to Task Force Atlas now, on how to proceed.

Sergeant Pitt huffed with her breath showing in the cold air at Beckenridge. Grey Mountain? Well, it was more white here than grey, but she wasn't the one in charge of picking the names. She turned to the rest of the team.

"Alright, fall in on me and listen up! Most of you are new transfers in from your previous country's unit and don't exactly know each other!" She shouted over the howling winds. "My name is Sergeant Pitt of the Froxian Recon Corps, Alpha One Squad attached to Task Force Atlas! So far, I've been on two operations here, and got shot in the neck! Needless to say, I've been baptized by fire! For those of you who are on their first mission with us, welcome! We'll have a lot of opportunities to work together in the future! Right now, let's get down to business! We're all familiar with that half-assed intel report of a briefing, but I'll refresh your memory in case you got snow in your ears! Contact was lost with the facility a few days ago, QRF was sent in and didn't make it past noon before going dark the same day! Now, it's our job to secure the facility and any data we can find! This is not your opportunity to conduct espionage on foreign soil! If I catch you trying to make off with shit you ain't supposed to have, the cold will be the least of your worries! Now, I want everyone to sync up watches and radio frequencies! We'll move to the main entrance, proceed into the facility, and assess the environment as we go, are we clear?! GOOD! Let's go!"

Keeping things as lengthy as they needed to be, Pitt hoped no one was going to try to buck her for leadership over the operation. At the same time, she hoped that Beckenridge had plans to be a liaison of sorts. In a place like this, a guide would be very helpful. Someone who knew the facility or at least it's estimated layout was very welcome.

Swordsman Ulric swung the backpack from his back and pried it open, snatching from it a white rectangle that was about six inches thick and as wide as his lap. Flapping it open he tapped a button and instantly the screen roared to life. "Everyone, local time is," he looked to the screen and declared it loudly for the rest to hear. "If I can make a suggestion, should we split up into teams each team will need a specialist who has a specialty in technical workings, I say this because should we fail to retake the facility, which failure to me personally is not an option, then we need to get all research we can and bring it back to Breckenridge. The latter of that statement will require breaking into the system, but that point can also be made moot should the main communications computer be a work-around point." Ulric though for a second before stating his full idea in more detail, "Sergeant, once we breach what if we designated a technical team to keep trying to crack the network and get the information, they could also cover teams that need to retreat, we after all have no clue what is down there. With them set up we would have a good central hub, meaning men would have a place to return and rest before heading back out should this take longer than twenty four hours." With that all said Ulric had his gear synced and packed back up, he gave a thumb up and smiled even though no one would see it. "Good to go, sarg." So far Ulric was not unimpressed, he overall was not a very social man, only ever talking to his team and superiors, but this was starting to get natural even if it still sucked being the only DEMON there.

He had to see how they operated and find a good place to wedge himself in, this meant lagging back and analyzing the task force, so in his mind he decided it would be best to study them while they all traveled to the breaching point, after all you could a lot about people by the way they walked.
