Official Announcement of Hostilities
In light of recent and relentless agression and wanton disregard by the Whiteshorian Government and it's Military, we are yet again forced to vote upon the future of Whiteshore, the Tavern voted 12-1 to commence hostilities against the Whiteshorian Nation. We have issued many repeated and tired warnings to cease and desist aggression. Yet here we are yet again trying to prevent another build-up of arms to overwhelm our people.
Time and time again the Whiteshorians have violated the New Haven Treaty, an article they committed to fervently and then fervently disregarded. We outlined this treaty to ensure and fair and even power balance in the region, favouring the Whiteshorian side as well. Yet this did not satisfy their greedy urges. We see little change in this path and must put a stop to it.
President Sofia A. Saddler
Barely a kilometer east of La Candleria, the first shots of the war commenced, two 155mm TA6H Field Artillery Pieces erupted like peels of thunder as they launched their projectiles, the Dewhurst-Narculian FNM22, a dialed yield nuclear artillery shell, both dialed to 6.25kt. Both streaked through the humid night air, trailing faint condensation trails. Falling, the basic altimeters read back the altitude, dialed to 250 feet, upon the correct figure being reached, both shells detonated, low over the town of Anton, strongly believed to be secret Whiteshorian army staging ground. Detonating merely a 1km apart, twin mushroom clouds rose over the sea of fire. Fallout from the blast would render the area and the strip of land to the coast too radioactive for humans for two months, let alone long term occupation for a few years. The only arterial highway to the border was somewhere in among the fire.
Over Chitre and the Southern Canal Zone, 45 I4 fighters orbited in formations of 5, bellies bristling with AIM-9 Sidewinders and the occasional "Sukaifurasshu" AANM, a special import from Hayanba, ideal for dealing with the imbalances in air-force numbers. A Embu AWACS was circling over Santiago, providing constant theater updates
Out to sea, 25km East of Chitre, TNS Black April and TNS St Paul launched their volley of cruise missiles at the Rio Hato Aitport Bridge, the Chalme Airport, the Bridge of the Americas, the Centennial Bridge and the Tocumen Airport, a total of 20 missiles, each carrying ten 60kg sub-munitions, upon firing the missiles, both ships turned south, at slow revolutions, on a war footing and buttoned down in anticipation on the light fallout.
The army though for the most part, stayed put in the defense they had set about building in the past 20 months, redoubts, bunkers and outposts dotted the vegetated hills over looking the only valley with the only road past the border zone. Though a Whiteshorian assault would take weeks to get even to the first line of defense, let alone arrive in force. The lack of a good passable road and the lingering radiation would make it very hard to get sizable units through quickly let alone with support.
However the Army wasn't entirely out of the fight, six TV4z "Basilisk" wheeled tank destroyers were east of Sagreja, making their way across the border, driving along the shallow river that meandered through the remote jungle. It'd take them a day to reach their target of Oajaca, the "Basilisks" were carting plenty of spare fuel tanks on the sides, more than enough to reach Oajaca. The hot jungle was barely noticeable in the cool air-conditioned vehicles as they slowly crawled their way south-west.
