Not sure if that changes things, but the modern maneuver is for higher speed aircraft (modern fighter jets, which are still slower than the Ventuses but must faster than WWI fighter planes).

For modern high speed planes, it's a performance piece for wowing the crowds at an air show, not a combat maneuver, at least not against an equivalent enemy.

In combat, for either version to be of utility the jet chasing you has to have inferior climb rate, or you can't use it to shake them, they just climb after you and shoot you as you lose speed (not that this would be relevant to orbit-capable fighters at all). In this case, both planes, I'm assuming, are equivalent in engine power, so mine are just going to clip along after yours and shoot them up the tail.

I was under the impression your fighters were far enough away that my fighters could complete the turn before your fighters were anywhere close to where the turn started, allowing my fighters to attack your fighters head on. I had no intention to evade, but to face your fighters.

Had I known your fighters were tailing that close, I'd have done something different.

Guys, tomorrow I'm flying to Istanbul. From there, I'll go on to live in the Czech Republic, Germany, and the Republic of Georgia for the next two months.

I'm not sure what internet access I'll have during that time, so my post rate might slow down. Apologies.

I made a short post.

I meant to do a Chri-irah post as well, dealing with the PTFS proxy troops and also counterattacking at Kaybor Gate, but I'm boarding my flight to Istanbul right now.

I'm going to be replying later this week as Excedium's not available so there's no immediate need for me to post; I deputize Menelmacar to have my ships join in any future attacks on the Piercing Descent or the ship trying to help it escape that Ferinion makes until then.

Okay, Singapore. I finally got your response posted.

Also, defense against the Cossacks has started. Don't expect the Chri-irans to fall over before your attack, their response has only just begun!

Ah, yes.
Does what has happened IC change that in any way? Aeiouia has agreed to teleport my carrier out of this dimension.

Wait, where is the Piercing Descent now? Is it being teleported next to the MIV Turambar?

Do I understand correctly that the other ships have powered down their weapons?

Um... Well, I don't actually know. As far as I can tell, Aeiouian FTL transportation goes slower than light through another dimension (even a short trip across a planetary orbit takes several minutes to an hour), but happens near-instantaneously in the "real world". So, from my perspective, the carrier just started a trip through "the void", and won't emerge for a little while. From your perspective, it just blinked out existence before suddenly appearing next to the Turambar.

Do I understand correctly that the other ships have powered down their weapons?

Yes. All weapons have been powered down on every ship except Piercing Descent.

The Russians have begun their advance. Expect bloody melee combat shortly.

I also have a nice image of cuirassier armor for reference here:

Reznov's example is, as I noted, rather more fancifully decorated. Most of the Cossacks are in something more akin to Fallout-esque powered armor, along with their horses.

OMG, I can't really tell from your last post what the direct fire Artillery are aiming at. Can you please clarify?

And Menelmacar, what exactly is the nature and purpose of the gravitic field you are projecting around my carrier as soon as it is dumped off?

Side note that does not need to be answered, how do you deal with the inherent time traveling nature of FTL sensors?

The howitzers are continuing to bombard the trenches, while the direct fire guns are aiming counter-battery at the enemy artillery and the CIWS.

Hey, I'm basically away for the next two weeks with Xmas stuff, I'll try and be around a little bit. I'll take the liberty of fielding the Menel/Ctan tech question though.
Excidium Planetis wrote:And Menelmacar, what exactly is the nature and purpose of the gravitic field you are projecting around my carrier as soon as it is dumped off?
Nature: space-time manipulation, rather than real gravity, to exert a force on the target. Purpose: Well as it says 'tractors' I'm assuming to keep them there. A Star Trek/Lensman/Star Wars/Space Opera of choice tractor beam. But Menelmacar might correct that.
Side note that does not need to be answered, how do you deal with the inherent time traveling nature of FTL sensors?

Well I also have time travel (which mostly doesn't appear in RP, and I presume Siri does in some way - if not Menelmacar at least has elf wizards that can predict the future in the background (and as fighter pilots to a lesser degree). So it's not really a significant problem if they end up seeing the future; in the 'Causality, Relativity, FTL, pick two' we've got Relativity and FTL. Time travel just doesn't get used competitively for what are basically narrative reasons.

Hail Tzeentch, God of Paradox.

Sorry for the long delay everyone, but an Excidian post is finally here.

Chriiran post to follow, and it will be good. Not so much for Singapore, who has little to do until the PTFS forces get involved in the larger conflict, but for the Russian Mercenaries, who will face hell trying to take control of Kaybor's most heavily defended base of operations. This is the Iwo Jima / Normandy of Chri-irah.

Hopefully with the holidays done, we all have time to get back into things.
