Oh, I meant to ask you: the nuclear rpg you fired at us,
1) Where was it directed? Towards the front (and exposed) part of the train, or towards the rear? (Or even the middle)

2) How powerful is it? I assume because of the small size, it likely isn't very powerful (I'd guess 10 kilotons at most).

It was directed towards the middle of the train. The potential yield would be closer to .75 ton yield. although if you're going to do a direct comparison to something like a 750kg bomb, I would compress the radius to about 50m for lethal effect, with wider radius for lesser destruction and radioactive fallout. Otherwise you might end up taking more damage than would be expected from a deployment like that.

Okay, post up. Percival is complying (with back up plan), but Piercing Descent went rogue... or malfunctioned.

And the ground battle continues.

Now, would anyone object to another player entering (pn the Coalition side) if things go south? Allancia has expressed interest in joining. It's okay if you say no.

I'm good with Allancia joining in, though he's probably going to have to resort to technical wizardry if he wants to get craft past the Imperial Fleet.
And, probably literal wizardry if Menelmencar starts firing.

Excidium, if Piercing Decent is ordered to stop and hold position before I open up on her, what will she do? In my next post (tonight) Ferinion will give them one final warning (and ten seconds to cut engines), but it'll save a posting cycle if I know whether they'll comply.

Piercing Descent will not respond at all. It will continue to accelerate into the atmosphere.

It's a shame, Inevitable Contempt has four tractor beam arrays but I'm fairly sure is too far to use them.

Gravitics make good tractor beams. Will prolly shoot off her FTL drive ring and haul the rest back into orbit.

Sending in volunteers, they do not announce official allegiance to the PTFS however and claim to be a group acting independently.

Expect T-55s. As I have repeated many times before.

I guess we'll find out when the shells start flying. If they start flying, advantage to not declaring is that you have a much higher likelihood of surviving till the 'reconstruction' phase I suppose.

Singapore is officially on the Birrin's side, simply to spite me. Presumably for my involvement in the Transcendence crisis, because honestly I have never done anything against the PTFS.

However, the Birrin aren't really pro-transhumanist (transBirrinist?) and they attacked the PTFS, so their alliance is quite shaky.

Menelmacar, what is the nature of your plasma weaponry?

I don't need to know exactly what is is and how you make it, but I do need to know its properties:
1) Is it actually plasma or just sci-fi stuff called plasma?
2) What happens if it hits the atmosphere of a planet?
3) Is it electromagnetic?
4) Would spacetime distortions affect it significantly?
5) Solid objects: Does it cut through, or would a barrier absorb the hit?

1. There is plasma involved but it's incidental to the total damage of the weapon, it's a vector for kinetic energy. The plasma itself is responsible for 2-3% of total damage throughput. Usually this is helium plasma, sometimes with hydrogen added as a tracer element.

2. Nothing in particular. Similar weapons are used in sidearms, small craft, vehicles, and artillery, though obviously on a smaller scale. It can cause fusion in the atmosphere it passes through, but this doesn't impede the discharge.

3. No, it uses the same pseudogravitic spacetime manipulation as much of the Menelmacari tech base. The plasma discharge actually continues to accelerate after being fired, and additional force can be applied off-axis to achieve ballistic/curved trajectories, if desired.

4. Likely not. Spacetime manipulation is how it works, the AI of the firing ship will usually compensate for existing distortions when firing. Naturally this may not apply with very extreme distortions or at very long range.

5. Both, as desired. The usual mode is bolts, which are pulses that explode on, or slightly after, impact. The Menelmacari plasma fire as the fleet approached the planet was mostly bolts. There is also lance mode, for continuous beams for cutting/drilling action. Lances are being used here.

Are the dropships heading towards the ones currently being observed by your fighter? Because the other Hunters are still in flight, traveling through the upper atmosphere.

How many did you deploy? I had the impression there was only one group. However either way works, there were drones detached to follow the men on the ground, Nuinon and the remaining craft can tail the others.

It was an evacuation, consisting of almost all of the fighter craft on board the Endless Sorrow. Many of them were caught in the crossfire between my ships and the C'tan, so I would say approximately 200 ships made it into the atmosphere.

Ah, okay. Nuinon's squad is following the group that were after research specimens. I can edit in (or post again sending) more dropships for everyone else.

Would those involved on the ground object if I said that the Russian mercenary force landed earlier? IRL has distracted me since my first post and I'd feel rather silly to have them suddenly come back to life at the rendezvous point.

I'm not on the ground, but a lot has transpired in orbit. Your fleet could probably attempt to resist, but their position will be untenable. I'm not sure what you want to do there.
