Sigma Station
A titanic kilometer-wide space station, it was built by the Birrin in the Pre-Fall Era. Abandoned for a thousand years, it has slowly drifted out of orbit on a slow escape from Chri-irah. Though completely inoperable, the station can make a great base of operations, a hiding place for small ships, or junk to salvage if you care nothing for ancient Birrin history.

Abondoned giant space station...great hiding place for small ships... lots of stuff to salvage... I think my Raider captains are going to fall in love.

Sure... According to Gizmos and Gadgets, you have exactly 100 Birrin ex-slaves, 50 male and 50 female.

They breed fast ;)

No they don't. As far as I know, Alex Ries never gave a specific number, but given that the fewer young animals have, the longer the time to reach maturity.

Additionally, you are supposing that in a few months (the time in my canon between your purchase and this current stage of the war) you not only determined the genetic code of a non-DNA based being, but also was able to manipulate it to extent that you could tweak its maturity rate and clone it?

Oops... Incomplete sentence there. I meant to say "the fewer young animals have, the longer the time to reach maturity, Birrin should have a fairly long time to mature (they have only 3-4 young per clutch)."

Also forgot that you would not only need to decode the Birrin's genome, alter it to increase the maturity rate, and clone it, but also raise the Birrin and then train them to fight. In about 5 months. And if so, then I'm f***ing scared because you have the capability to raise up supersoldier armies in record amounts of time.

Thank you for being reasonable in regards to your cloning tech. I can't let a civilization 1920 years younger than mine outclass me in every tech category.

I'm quite happy to reduce the scale of the involvement to a smaller taskforce of say, one capital ship with a dozen or so escort vessels and support craft, (these are quite beefy ships mind you) but obviously that depends on how other people feel about this suggestion.

My task force may be out of proportion to the issue (though I disagree, and this is ultimately a judgement call), but I don't think it's out of proportion to the forces on the other side. In any case Menelmacari forces tend to operate best in fleets, even if they don't use everything those fleets have available.

And yes, please go ahead and start the RP.

If my memory serves me correctly, you joined when "the forces on the other side" consisted of only my forces, and Chri-irah had not only all of its own forces, but an entire Tinfectian legion and Aeiouian and Allanean support. So really, your forces were out of proportion to the forces on the other side, and we were forced to hire lots of mercenary armies to compensate.

Alright, working on IC post now...

Correct... Though as I said, I disagree with the notion my deployment is disproportionate to the matter at hand.

I don't think it's disproportionate at all. We've got 126 Combat Vessels coming out of the Imperium, the rest being Troopships and Escort, and 70 vessels of nonspecific description, each coming out of Allanea and Menelmacar. If anything, 30 ships is quite a small response.

Except I have a suspicion The C'tan are actually on the Chriiran side, maybe. Menelmacar and Allanea both listed the C'tan as allies on their apps.

Of course, if that is correct, the Coalition would not know that IC, but The C'tan would, and sending in even 30 ships when the starship numbers are already on the Chriiran side might be disproportionate.

If not, then the C'tan are sending a reasonable number of ships to battle.

Also guys, The IC is now up. Please post only pre-arrival and arrival events for now, I need to get an official post up from the Excidian viewpoint to really set the stage.

Also, I had meant to post it with a puppet named Chri-irah, but took so long typing it I was logged out, and accidentally logged back in as Excidium to post it. Silly me.

Oh, no. If things need some extra pro-coalition forces to spice things up, actual Excidium Planetis forces might get involved. That might complicate things, as it risks getting my nation involved in a war with multiple other nations, most of whom are superior technologically, but if things are really so bad that the largest corporations in my nation are literally being killed off by foreign powers, war might be a proper Excidian response.

On the other hand, I was kind of hoping I could extend a business partnership to the Vaskkil...

Well, if the entirety of Tachyon Corp is betting its entire existence on conquering the Birrin, they may not have the strongest business sense.
On another note, this is why the Imperium deals with all this sort of deal at the Government Level. You can't run a Government out of Business!

That can be arranged. Access to consistent production facilities, and Technology is quite desirable for some of the Hive Worlds, and they might be willing to sell 'acquired' Vessels to G&G for Resale.

Tachyon's production facilities are all on Reckoner, and they are the sole manufacturer of Perrault Drives (in the universe!), so they will never go out of business. Gizmos and Gadgets doesn't actually produce anything (well, they now manufacture Hoverbike, but only on Chri-irah and only for this war), and they have trillions of credits, so they won't go out of business either. The other companies could theoretically bust their budget in this war, but Nucleon actually has very few assets here (they own one of the Warp Ships, and they have a particle accelerator and several nuclear reactors on the planet), and Alien Skies Mining and Perelandran Armaments are pretty vast corporations.

The only real threat is killing off their personnel and leadership, which they figured was a worthy risk for a planet, and killing off a large number of Excidians with military force is technically an act of war...

Well, they'll be ass-out a lot of money if they lose this, but no one's in danger of going down then.

Excidium Planetis wrote:The only real threat is killing off their personnel and leadership, which they figured was a worthy risk for a planet, and killing off a large number of Excidians with military force is technically an act of war...

If the Leadership is willing to get the hell out of dodge/not engage the Imperium, we probably won't fire on them. Saar doesn't want to risk firing on neutral vessels, and the Imperium doesn't really have any reason to stop them from just straight up leaving the battlefield. The personnel can't really be helped, unless they surrender or withdraw, but that's not likely to happen, what with the significant investment and stake Tachyon Corp and others have on the planet.

On another note, if you go to war with the Imperium, you do have the advantage of knowing where we are. So, you're free to throw ships at the Shield Worlds until it becomes prohibitively expensive, or you manage to destroy a Subspace Projector, as we can't really retaliate offensively until we know where you've parked the Reckoner, but that's what Imperial Intelligence is for.

Excidium Planetis wrote:Except they kind of never responded to our transmission at Olber III. The one where we offered them a planet.

Yeah... Sorry about that.

But, uh, since your forces just sort of pissed off into space, and the Archailects withdrew, they did rather still end up with the Planet, and its not like they're going anywhere, so you could probably try to contact them again.

Olber III is currently controlled by the Vasskil, but the rest of the system is still ours for the time being. And since our ships cannot be boarded, it would probably take some time for the Vasskil to drive us away. Though, it should be noted that we will probably leave eventually on our own, since we are in the process of slowly abandoning our star systems.

But, due to the fact that we still have a presence in the area, we would probably detect Excidium trying to make an offer like this if it were to happen, and give the Vasskil a counter-offer.
Future Tech. Dim-witted living starship creatures in their equivalent to the stone age, attempting to form a civilization.

Yeah... Sorry about that.

But, uh, since your forces just sort of pissed off into space, and the Archailects withdrew, they did rather still end up with the Planet, and its not like they're going anywhere, so you could probably try to contact them again.

Uh... No they didn't. The RP is still going on, and none of my ships have left yet.

Since when? We still have ground forces on the planet, 8 Crossbow Carriers and 17 Stormwrath ships parked in orbit, and a not-yet-warped Armada that is prepared to fire at the Vaskkil!

Uh... we already made the offer.

Hey, Excidium, do you know if the Birrin would have a written language?
I mean, it's a safe bet they do, most Civilizations tend to have one, but we'd like some confirmation, as it does rather change how we go about establishing contact with them.
