Report On The Status of Columbian Refugees

Postby Cobb Island » Sat Oct 03, 2015 8:03 pm

OOC: This is an IC post designed to sum up the results of a recent scenario I ran in international incidents. If WA members want to use it as material for future resolutions, by all means go ahead.

Cobb Island Commission on Refugees:

Report On The Status of Columbian Refugees:
This report was generated approximately one year after the end of the Columbian Civil War. It does not account for additional refugees created from further conflicts in that territory.

Estimated total number of refugees: 6 million
Refugees Confirmed Dead (Includes drowning, armed conflict, and other causes): 20,000
Refugees Missing or Unaccounted: 80,000.

Refugees Successfully Re-settled: 5.9 million.

Ganos Lao: 3.5 million
Ethane: 500,000
Tkdkidsx2: 500,000
Switzerland and South Central Europe: 100,000
The Jaclean empire: 100,000
People's Republic of Lokayata: 100,000
Halfblakistan: 50,000
Republik of Hrvatska (Belinovia): 44,000
Aztec Enclave: 5000
Kujuana: 1000

The report recommends that the World Assembly commend the following nations:

Ganos Lao: For quickly opening its borders when the crisis began.

Ethane and Tkdkids: For committing naval assets that played a critical role in the relief effort.

Switzerland and South Central Europe: For their critical humanitarian assistance and smart relief efforts.

The report also made some recommendations about future refugee responses.

The only nation that made it a policy to carefully screen out potential war criminals was Switzerland and South Central Europe. As a result of this oversight, we estimate that at least 5,000 United Fascist States of North American soldiers were able to blend in with refugees and safely return to their country. Many of these soldiers should have been tried as war criminals for their role in atrocities committed during the Columbian Civil War.

Wrong forum. You say it should be in international incidents? Then put it there. I've filed a request that this be moved accordingly.

That's not really something that happens. Moved.
