47th Cohort, Prime Centurion Alexios Marius, Philadelphia

The German assault on Philadelphia had begun in earnest. Alexios Marius, younger brother to the famous Legate Gaius Marius, led the 47th Cohort into battle. He and his men were ready to take on the enemy as they attacked, he had usually been kept off the front when in battle, by his older brother, but in this fight, there was no way to keep him safe. After Abwehr sabotage of the city, Legate Marius had declared that all access to supply caches, and important assets such as artillery, were to be supervised by an officer of the rank of at least Second Centurion. If any Second Centurion or higher were a turncoat, the screening would be simple, there were a decent number of them, but all of them were on record. Any dereliction of duty, intentional or otherwise, would result in immediate demotion back to a Legionary.

He saw hundreds of fighter jets fighting for aerial dominance in the air, German Bombers had a hard time of bombing the defenders, they did considerable damage to important areas, but were often shot down by SAM emplacements which were littered across the city. They were also hounded by allied air forces, but the allied aircraft were mostly occupied with dogfighting with the Luftwaffe in an aerial stalemate. However the Luftwaffe outnumbered the Rodinan Airforce, and the battle of attrition was beginning to take it's toll. Columbian air forces would, however, bring the balance somewhat more in their favour.

Alexios and his men were in the ratway of a massive complex of bombed-out buildings, on the frontline. There was a large concentration of enemy forces inside, and the 47th Cohort was tasked with securing this street. Fifty men were already assaulting the building, screams and gunshots penetrated all other sounds, and as it began to die down, a Rodinan flag was raised from the roof.

Alexios entered his new hardpoint, makeshift barricades stood at most of the entrances bar one from the front and one from the back. At least 40 Rodinan corpses littered the building, along with 20 Germans and even a few Columbian ones. The men set about removing all the corpses, the Rodinans and Columbians were buried, but the Germans were laid outside the front entrance, a warning to those who might try to attack them. This was common practice for the Rodinan forces, the enemies they kill would be dumped between them and the enemy. Morale Land-mines, some had jokingly dubbed them.

Speakers all over the city crackled to life, and as Alexios was setting up his makeshift field HQ out of a radio and fold-out table, he listened to his brother give his pre-battle speech.

"Now I speak to you, Rodinan Legionaries, Columbian, and Capilean soldiers. We stand here, at the precipice of our doom. You see those Germans out there? They are coming, for your blood. But I say, we will not give it to them! We will stay here, and we will stand strong! I speak for every man and woman in this city when I say, we WILL defend this city until it is nothing but a pile of smoldering rubble. When that day comes, my friends, I say, we will defend this rubble! If we stand together, and stay strong, the enemy, as a rule, cannot stand against us! Let us strike a blow against the Fascists, and avenge Lady Liberty!" Legate Marius spoke over the speakers.

"Oorahhhhh!!!" Alexios heard some of his men cry out, and the sound could be heard faintly across the rest of the city, from the voices of over 400 thousand Rodinan Legionaries.

201st Consortium, Prime Decurion Cosades, South of Philadelphia

Prime Decurion Cosades and a patrol of 50 men had departed from Philadelphia in the late hours of the night, and now, in morning, they were tasked with the destruction of the various Bridgeways leading north. Their primary target was the bridge of the John F Kennedy Memorial Highway, codenamed Bridge 85.

They were to avoid confrontation with the Germans, but they had encountered one German patrol of twenty men, who were easily ambushed and put down with two rounds from an SU16 each. Apart from that ambush, the Rodinan patrol were fairly unopposed.

Until they reached the Bridge itself, which was being guarded by a Company of German paratroopers. From a distance, the Decurion had put their numbers at 40, possibly more inside tents or shacks. It was a delicate situation, at least three twenty-man patrols had been lost in this area to enemy action already, either taken out by German patrols or by the Paratroopers stationed here.

Patrols like this did not traditionally wear the Gold Legion's distinctive blue helmets, as they made stealth and complicated actions in woodlands much more difficult, this they left them behind in favor of non-protective, but more concealing, beanies and balaclavas.

They were set up in a crescent along the woodline, to their front was the river and to their right was the road. In order to blow the bridge they would either need to slide down the side of the slope and blow it from there, or take out the structural supports on the top of the bridge itself. If they assaulted the bridge they would risk being shot by enemy forces, but they would be sitting ducks in the cold river.

Eventually they decided to engage, and twenty Principes fired off twenty shots from their Semi-Automatic Carbines, and were able to take the Paratroopers on the road by surprise, but there was still at least thirty Paratroopers on the bridge, who were now completely aware of the Rodinan forces. They would need to act fast before the Germans were able to bring in air support, or reinforcements. So the Rodinan troops, keeping low, advanced onto the bridge. In prone positions, they exchanged fire with the Paratroopers.

Admittedly, the paratroopers were likely more experienced than they were, but if the paratroopers mistook this assault for an all-out assault, they could retreat, to bring up more men. If they did they, they might even blow the bridge as they leave, which would make the Rodinan's job far easier. But they were elite paratroopers, and unlikely to be fooled by the volume of fire offered by the various Machineguns and Rifles the Rodinans could bring to bear.

Operation: Buckmoth
14th Cohort, Prime Centurion Gnaeus, Honolulu, Hawaii

Word had reached the 14th Cohort in Hawaii that Yymea had offered a peace deal to the Columbians, and the 14th Cohort, which was the first Rodinan formation to do battle in the 2nd Columbian War, celebrated heartily. While the fighting in Honolulu was nothing compared to what their brothers in Philadelphia would soon see, they had lost many comrades and they were glad to see the end of battle for the time being.

But Prime Centurion Gnaeus was far more serious, he doubted that the Columbian government would concede Alaska so easily, and if they did not, the 14th Cohort would still be under risk of Yymean invasion. Of course if it came to it, the Cohort would still fight like devils, but like anybody they would prefer the battle never happen in the first place. What was in fact more concerning for the Centurion was to think what could happen if Yymea did pull out of the war. The 14th Cohort, as well as other elements of the Legion still in the Rodina proper, could be sent to California to drive the fascists out of the state, which was a fight they would be unlikely to win without the support from the Enclave which had been almost universally funneled straight to Philadelphia.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
United States of Columbia

Gunther Koenig, a Major in the Wehrmacht Sniper Corp with over 300 kills to his name, took a deep breath as he adjusted the instruments on his Gewehr 230 Semi-Automatic Rifle. He had already killed twelve enemy shoulders in just the past hour. Now he was providing cover for an assault on an enemy command post by the 59th Infantry Division. He noticed that they had wheeled up five 44mm Anti-Tank Guns in a half-circle all aimed at the building as the two hundred and fifty soldiers encroached upon the building.

As they got to the door, several soldiers produced grenade like objects from their equipment belts. These were in fact, a newly developed special type of S-Mine capable of being used like a hand grenade. They tossed them inside, several seconds later the entire first floor and exposed parts of the second were sprayed with deadly shrapnel. Then the Wehrmacht troops, utilizing their MP-222 Assault Rifles, began to fire into the building through openings. The five 44mm Guns concentrated their fire on the Second Floor.

As to German progress across the city, it was indeed a hard battle but already 35% had been secured with minimal casualties. Light Armor Divisions were being prepped to enter the city and aid the brave German soldiers. Should that happen it would tip the scales ever further in favor of the German Army.

Bridge 85

As it happened, the 43rd Paratrooper Regiment did not need to call in reinforcements for what should come rolling across the bridge from the other side but the forward units of the 3rd Panzerarmee. These forward units consisted of mostly medium armor units and light Self-Propelled Artillery.

These troops were attached to Army Group C but were directed to attack Philadelphia so as to complete the encirclement of the city. Once the city was encircled, it would only be a matter of time before it fell.

Proud advocate that Europe stands stronger together than divided. The EU may be flawed in some areas but the idea of a united Europa can only bring good fortune to Europe and the world. For more than two thousand years, Europe was home to conflicts inspired by coveting one another's territory and resources, even making the continent the home to some of the world's most destructive and costly conflicts. But the idea was all wrong in their minds. Their idea was to bring this territory or that under their flag and spread influence on the continent. The idea they should all have been thinking was that the goal should be to bring the continent under one unified flag.

November 6th, 2015

Philadelphia
Captain Donald Jackson looked down his binoculars at the German troops who were slaughtering the Rodians. He then got back in the tank and closed the hatch.
"Gunner!" He called out "Enemy tank! Twelve o'clock!"
The Patton tank fired it's 125mm shell at the tank and turned it into burning scrap metal.
The barricade he had been in command of had been called to the front with 30% of the city falling to the Germans. It was disturbing how fast the Invading powers had gotten in such short time. Then there was the fact that they appeared to have an endless amount of resources and troops at disposal despite having to cross an ocean and advance inland with ways of making ambushing supply convoys easy. Thankfully militia and turncoats were making it hell for supply truck drivers by destroying roads, switching signs, and raiding the enemies supply depots. It wasn't much, immediately, but once winter comes it'll be a living hell for the Reds and Germans.
The tanks crawled forward blasting away with their Gatling Lasers and 125mm smoothbore gun. Enemy armor proved to be no match (especially since they were light tanks) but anti tank teams were a menace due to them knocking out guns, turrets, and tracks. However the supporting Columbian and Rodian troops mopped them up and tipped the balance of power back into the Allies favor.

(OOC: doing this now before the enemies take the city. It might already be too late.)
The Regent grabbed his phone and dialled the number for the Secret Service operatives assigned to the plane carrying the little Emperor in Phily. He needed to tell them to get the fuck out before it was too late. The operative picked up the phone. He said "Hello?"
The Regent responded "Hello Commander. Recent events have resulted in an impromptu evacuation to a more secure location than the city. Consquently, you should go Delta. Our intelligence data suggests that hostile forces are attempting to take the city so I strongly suggested you leave immediately. We both know that if you fail to escape then the kid may fall into enemy hands which means all hell will break loose, and the Minister of Defense will want your roasted, dead ass on their desk. Are we clear?"
The Commander replied "Yes Sir." before hanging up.

After checking the immediate local area for hostile forces, the NMK plane took off. Unusually for it, the weapons systems were already primed and ready to fire. It was hoped they wouldn't be needed.

Operation: Firebreather
47th Cohort, Prime Centurion Alexios Marius, Philadelphia

The city was increasingly coming under concentrated enemy fire, and the first few blocks were stormed by German troops before the Rodinans could finish setting up their defenses. The confusing mess of the buildings made the grenades and artillery that was being poured on them far less effective than they should have been- the 44mm AT guns could either fire AP rounds or HE, the HE rounds would not penetrate the concrete debris that lay around, and the AP could not take out the numbers of Legionaries they needed to. They stayed away from the front windows, as already too many men had been lost to sniper fire or grenades.

Alexios had retreated with his men to avoid being slaughtered, in a city basement, surrounded by Hastati who lay behind a bend in the wall. Mines were buried on the dirt floor of the basement where the stairs met the ground, any German troops passing through would be killed either by mines or the defending Hastati. He radioed ahead and ordered the rest of his Cohort to assault the German positions. With a cry of "INVICTA!!!" piercing the air, the Rodinan troops sallied forth, machinegunners pinned down enemy defenses and the Legionaries rushed forwards to throw grenades at the AT guns and attack the Germans from the other buildings lining the street. In the basement, German stormtroopers tried storming the basement to kill the Centurion, but the Mines killed the first four, and while the others were dazed, the Hastati finished them off.

The Germans in the area were falling back, the Legionaries had Grenades and Gladii at the ready. Legate Marius had suggested keeping close to the enemy troops, for two reasons, the Luftwaffe could not bomb their positions for fear of hitting their own, and the Gladius carbines and Gladius Machetes made the Rodinan troops incredibly deadly in close quarters, as the German troops storming the HQ had just discovered.

"These cowardly Germans, they let their artillery and aircraft do their work for them, they cannot face us like men," scoffed the Prime Centurion. "If that is the case, and they will not come to us, we will come to them." He threw a flashbang into a room full of Germans and ordered his men to charge forwards, Gladius in hand, and they butchered the German Infantry while they were firing, desperately hoping to hit something in the cramped hallways.

The 47th Cohort's attack on the German 59th Division was going relatively well, their casualties sustained were significant, but their casualties inflicted more than made up for it. By the time the attack had run out of steam and the troops had taken up positions in the nearby buildings for defense, over half of the 44mm AT guns had been destroyed and most of the Infantry had been pushed back to the HQ.

At this point the joint Rodinan-Columbian counter-offensive cost dearly for both sides, but eventually the soldiers were able to push back the Germans to 20% of the city. Osorio's and Pattons worked in tandem to vaporize most of the enemy light armor, and without armor support the Infantry were forced to retreat.

Their engagement had to be cut off, as the paratroopers were reinforced by armoured units, and the Decurion popped some smoke to screen their retreat, and the 36 surviving members of the 201st Consortium fell back quickly. As they disappeared into the forest, the Decurion radioed the main HQ in Philadelphia to inform them of this attack. All Rodinan forces were effectively occupied in the defense of the city, and the defense of Philadelphia's flanks would have to fall to Columbia.

Flight Centurion Julian Varus was one of the most well-decorated pilot in the Rodinan Volans Legionis (Rodinan Flying Legion), with hundreds of sorties flown and hundreds of kills to his name. He was one of the few pilots chosen for the experimental testbed aircraft XVO-20 Tazelwurm advanced fighter jet. While the MiG-25's were equal to the German Me609's, they were regardless finding the fighting remarkably difficult.

That is where the Tazelwurm project comes in.

The Tazelwurm is an unparalleled fighter aircraft. It features an incredibly impressive stealth suite, supersonic flight, and very advanced avionics. As weapons go, it has incredibly fast and maneuvrable Rattlesnake missiles, as well as two inhouse heavy Class 7 Lasers, capable of burning through practically any material. To top all this off, the Tazelwurm has unmatched maneuvrability.

The only downside is the cost of manufacture, which lead to only 5 to date being completed. Further complicating are the various issues that plague it; most importantly, that the lasers are prone to overheating if left firing for over 5 seconds, and sometimes on the runway the entire electrical system would shut down from the stress and need to spend a few hours to reset the entire avionics suite. However there were no cases of this happening whilst in flight, thankfully for Varus.

Due to drastically increased German aerial activity over the city, all 5 Tazelwurms had been deployed to help, and they had just arrived from the Rodina. They would outclass the equipment of the German Luftwaffe, but they would be outnumbered so drastically that any attempt to take the Luftwaffe on would be suicide. Instead, they would support the MiGs. Because of their stealth suite greatly reducing their radar presence, the Rodinans expected the Luftwaffe pilots would generally ignore the radar blip that registered the Tazelwurm as being the size of a bit of debris, especially with the much larger MiG's to deal with.

12th Praetorian Contubernium, Second Decurion Rotenko, Philadelphia

The Praetorians were under heavy assault from at least 30 German infantry, only five of them remained alive after the slaughter which had left 20 Germans and 5 Praetorians dead. They could hear them shouting in German in the next room. Rotenko realised that a Grenade would destroy them in the cramped room. He raised his CarbonSteel Scutum, and his CarbonSteel Gladius Machete, covered in blood he cried "INVICTA!" and he and his men charged forwards, their shields blocked small arms fire, and went to work slaughtering the terrified Germans.

OOC: Send Foley to the front, but dont make him close enough to be sniped or anything.
OOC: Also, a fight of this magnitude isn't over in a day, or even a week. Don't just post and say "I just captured the city with minimal casualties. Wam Bam thank you Fellas." Focus on small units, not what we are doing, or its just a frustrating "I win my offensive." "I win mine too." You have to give the other person a chance to react or it gets very close to CC territory. I know that is precisely what I have done, but that's just because I don't really have a choice.

Military high command- 21:00
Emporer Cyrus Silva was quickly getting frustrated with the Battle of New Orleans. The Air Force was doing a great job holding back the enemy, although taking fairly substantial casualties, but the land battle reached another bloody stalemate. He decided to land all of his reserves into the city, and push straight into their center lines. Clearly, this is suicidal, Silva thought, which is why they won't expect it. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers, fighters, fighter bombers, and gunship helos thundered towards the enemy. The initial attack surprised the Capileans, forcing them back a bit, although they managed to regroup, and, possibly strike back, and although Silva knew, based on estimated troop numbers, that it was near impossible and would take a miracle to save New Orleans from the Empire now. It was just a matter of time.

Meanwhile: Mexico
The empire decided that it was time to push on the Mexican front. Therefore, based from Honduras, a major thrust into Mexico was made, from the southern, oat border, catching the enemy there by surprise.

OOC: Time for the troops to get a Royal surprise

November 10th, 2015

Philadelphia
The fighting seemed to go the join Columbian-Rodian way at first. 20% of the city was in the Germans hands. Unfortunately it appeared to now want to go the other way. The Patton tanks were either breaking down, running low on ammunition, or getting destroyed by join Panzer-Me 617 fire. The fighting began to get as brutal as it did in Stalingrad. battles to get a room would last days. Fighting often went to CQC which seemed to be a toss up between Columbians and Germans. It seemed to go to whoever had the least worries of being condemned to hell with what they did to torture the enemy into submission.

Jackson felt pure fear in his heart as he listened to the latest horror story back in the makeshift camp that was once the Museum of the Columbian Revolution. The displays had been moved into storage or were used as a makeshift barrier to try and stop the enemy for a few seconds so they could be moved out of the way. Every second counted when it came to getting the troops to their positions.
The main entrance hall and the first few rooms were defense lines lined with sandbags, razor wire, machine guns, and a mix of experience soldiers and greenhorn militia/police. The further inward rooms were sleeping quarters and storage rooms containing medicine, food, and ammunition. The last few rooms were a makeshift "War Room" and a radio room that was supposed to allow them to communicate to other units. Unfortunately the radio seemed to want to not work. It was as if all the channels just dropped dead out of the blue.

"Damn thing!" A radio operator shouted as he pounded the radio for the umpteenth time.
"Don't break it!" Another operator shouted from the same room as Jackson shook his head disappointedly "If it gets working again we need it to call for supplies and reinforcements!"
Jackson got up and headed towards the main hall to check on the guards. To his surprise the guards weren't patrolling or lingering around but were actually seeming to just stand and stare in shock.
Jackson was as well when he was who they were staring at.

Royal Convoy several miles west of Philly
It had taken several days for the convoy to reach the battlefield but it was a nice change of pace for the Monarch. He could stretch his legs, personally see the battles instead of reading reports, and actually inspire the troops to fight. Finally he could give back to his loyal subjects.

Philly was a mess to say the absolute best of the situation. Rubble lined the streets everywhere along with dead bodies and slowly rotting food. Shell and bullet casings littered the ground. The only noise one could hear was gunfire and screams of hatred and pain. The fighting never seemed to get this bad in the Civil War.

Suddenly the convoy stopped jerking the limo forward and nearly causing the King to lurch out of his seat.
"Are you alright, Your Excellency?"
"I'm not shot am I?" The King replied as he got out of the limo handing his thick cape to the driver/guard.
Before the guard could reply the King had already entered the museum turned HQ.

Both Foley and Jackson were locked eye to eye before Jackson kneeled before his rightful King.
"Rise." Foley commanded with no hint of worry or fear in his voice.
The soldiers did as ordered. Foley looked around at all of the men and boys holed up in the Museum. This was a shameful sight. Some had no shoes or boots on their feet which was evident by dozens of cuts, most likely from broken glass. Others seemed to have no shirt or weapon except blunt or sharp opbjects nearby. That was all about to change.
"Men. Let's get to work and save this Kingdom!"

That is fine
CC Is basically choosing what happens to the enemy troops.
So an example.

Person 1 wrote:Joe of the American Army ran into the Bunker with the tommy gun and riddled everyone with bullets. Because of this the American Army could advance up Omaha beach and the battle was won!

OR

Person 1 wrote:The American Army attacked the beach and took minimal casualties while the enemy took heavy casualties, because the American weapons were far superior they took the beach easily.

What is better than those two examples would be

Person 1 wrote:Joe ran to the back of the bunker, Tommy Gun in hand, he began to fire at the backs of the Germans inside.

Person 2 wrote:Fritz watched in horror as his best friend, Hermann, and four others was killed by an American Tommy Gun. He took up his MP40 and returned fire.

Person 1 wrote:Joe was shot twice and bled out on the ground, but he was glad took out at least four Germans before he died. Because of this the American troops were able to advance up Omaha beach

Person 2 wrote:Fritz quickly manned the Machinegun whose operator had been killed by the American, he fired onto the enemies below

etc...

Basically let the other person respond, don't just TELL him how he responds.
But the opposite is just as bad (or worse), Godmode is no fun either, you have to be reasonable.

An example of Godmode from above:

Person 1 wrote:Joe ran to the back of the bunker, Tommy Gun in hand, he began to fire at the backs of the Germans inside.

Person 2 wrote:Thankfully the American had really bad aim and the Germans killed him with no casualties.

EDIT:
This is why you, as a GM are very important. If this was the Civil War Scenario between two different factions you both control, you get to choose who wins what because you are the GM (also you gotta be reasonable, see above)
But since you are only on one side, there is no Impartial GM, which is problematic. What could be a better idea is some kind of dice roll, like, the last number of your timestamp determines how effective it is or something. Just an idea to keep it fresh.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
United States of Columbia

Upon noticing that Light Armor Divisions were doing no good, Jodl ordered the various Medium and Heavy Armor Divisions encircling the city to move in and join the battle. This once again tipped the scales back in German favor. German Heavy Armor is easily amongst the best in the world. And Artillery began to unleash a heavy bombardment on the Columbian controlled areas of the city.

Approximately six blocks from the Columbian Museum HQ was a plaza in which a tank battle was currently occuring. Six German Mittel Panzer IV (Medium Tank Class Four) and four Schwerer Panzer III (Heavy Tank Class Three) aided by the 16th, 21st, and 17th Panzergrenadier Divisions and two dozen 44mm Anti-Tank Guns, were pushing a minor offensive against enemy armored units to make a gap in the Allied Lines. Commanding this was Lieutenant Colonel Hans Kronemann.

Kronemann took aim at yet another enemy tank and gave the order "Fire!" and another shell fire off. They were almost through, if they made a gap here, then the 12th Panzer Division could come in and rush through to hit the enemy Headquarters. Kronemann shook out of his daze just in time to target another tank and fire. The remaining three Columbian tanks appeared to be fleeing down the street. The tanks under his command fired a few parting shots but did not rush to pursue. There was a gap now and Kronemann immediately informed the CO of the 12th Panzer Division of this.

The Gun crews and Panzergrenadiers quickly repositioned to defend this gap whilst Kronemann lead the ten tanks under his command down the street in the direction of the enemy Headquarters.

Several Blocks Over

Walter Netz had seen many things in his ten years in the Wehrmacht, but only twice had he seen fighting of this style; the three week Battle for Moscow, and now here. Netz doubted it would take that long here but it would still be a terrible fight, but then again that was what war was, one terrible thing after another.

Netz was a Hauptmann in the 81st Infanterie Division and at the moment he and twenty men were in a back alley waiting for contact from Divisional Command. Netz took a swig of whiskey from a flask he kept at his hip and then took out a locket around his neck. Inside was a picture of his wife Greta, son Maxwell and daughter Hilda. That was what he fought for, to be able to return to his family and live out his life with them once he had finished his service in the Wehrmacht.

Netz fought for his country yes but he also fought for his family, and to live to see them again.

Other events

The 3rd Panzerarmee is fast approaching South of Philadelphia to hit the enemy flanks. In other areas, German forces have cemented occupational control over South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Rhode Island, New York, Conneticut, and Massachusetts.

As the bloody fighting in Philadelphia was worsening, New Axiom decided to lend a small hand. The 21st and 23 airborne divisions flew over the city, parachuting down. However, multiple transport planes were shot down, so not as many paratroops made it. Nonetheless, they lacked tanks, so hopefully that wouldn't be as much as a setback as some people would see it as, and set out on their mission: to hurt the enemy by destroying bridges, iconic American icons such as independence hall, (OOC:, I would never do this in real life! just as a shock and awe tactic in the game.) SAM sites, ant-air radars, and hopefully finding different field commanders and kill them.

OOC: Time to see if we can get the Duke and Regnant back

November 10th, 2015

Cheyenne
It turned out the flight was slower, if only because of the shock of learning the King decided to lead from the front, and a temporary setback when the pilot and co pilot were debating whether to turn around to assist His Excellency or to continue with the current mission. Upon learning that the Royal Guard was with him and that he wasn't going to actually fight but boost morale they continued with their mission.
Finally 4-5 days later the VTOL landed in the hanger (opens at the top allowing VTOLs and Helicopters in and out) and had the two leaders of Columbia's allies greeted by the site of Columbian soldiers in dress uniforms with polished rifles and Hancock himself.
"Welcome to your new, hopefully temporary, home".

Philadelphia
Foley and the others heard the roar of engines and the sound of missiles and shells exploding. Racing outside the two platoons worth of soldiers saw paratrooper planes flying and crashing overhead. At once the King was being shoved back into the limo.
"We need to get you to safety, Sire!" one of the Royal Guardsmen yelled as the King attempted to argue with his forced removal.
As the limo began to get sped away a more immediate problem emerged:
German tanks chasing after a small handful of retreating Columbian tanks.

Battle of Philadelphia
Praetor Caius Aurelius, Independence Hall, Philadelphia

The Praetor awaited in his makeshift office in Independence hall. Ten Praetorians guarded him at all times, and at least two not once let their eyes off him. He was running through casualty reports, enemy movements, and the like. Most importantly, he was checking the reports on the war in the air. He wanted to get out of the godforsaken city, as soon as he could, but the air was swarming with allied and enemy planes, it would be far too dangerous to fly out.

He was poring through them. To be honest, the Praetor was not fond of this war. The Senate had voted in favor of it, almost unanimously. But Aurelius did not share their enthusiasm, and the reasoning could be made all the clearer just looking at the state Philadelphia was in. Legate Marius was doing an excellent job keeping Morale high in a destroyed city which the Rodinans had no loyalty to.

As he put away a casualty report with a heavy sight, he heard a large explosion.

Praetorian Guard Arminius, Independence Hall, Philadelphia

With the explosion seemingly in the middle of Independence Hall, Arminius rushed off to investigate, leaving one Praetorian and the Praetor safe in his office. He pulled out his SU16 carbine, and scanned the Hall. He couldn't see any Praetorians, or anybody else. He kept moving, and in the atrium to Independence Hall he found a small shootout underway. At least 20 enemy paratroopers were engaging the 8 other Praetorians who were trying desperately to defend the Praetor.

Arminius dropped to the floor and fired three times at a Paratrooper, one shot missed, but the next two in quick succession struck his helmet with a clang, killing him instantly. He moved on and shot another in the leg, but was forced to move to cover behind a stone half-wall. He peeked out with his carbine and fired again, striking a paratrooper in the chest, not enough to kill.

When the Praetorians had lost most of their number- 5, and the Paratroopers were down to ten men, the attackers broke off and retreated. Arminius breathed a sigh of relief that the skirmish was over and the Praetor was safe.

He returned to the Praetor's office to see the Praetor and his guard lying in a pool of their own blood, the guard was already dead, but the Praetor still had some life left in him.

"MEDIC!" screamed Arminius, as he dropped down to hold the Praetor's head and examine his wounds. They were fatal. "It's okay, Praetor, you are going to be fine. The Medic is coming."

The Praetor was looking ahead blankly, but his eyes eventually met Arminius'. "Take my body back to the Rodina... That is all I ask of you... I cannot lie to rest here..." With that, the Praetor close his eyes and let out his final breath. Arminius began to sob, as the other Praetorians rushed in to see the corpse of the man they were sworn to protect.

87th Consortium, Prime Decurion Miltiados, Philadelphia

Prime Decurion Miltiados and 50 men of his Consortium were lying in wait at midnight. Most of them had left their guns at the HQ, and had travelled with silenced pistols and Carbon Steel Gladii. Now they were sneaking up on a group of 30 German soldiers, most of them were sleeping, but some were playing cards or looking through sentimental belongings. Miltiados crouched and slowly snuck closer, behind the cover of a field of debris. He motioned his men to follow him.

They were an Offensio Consortium, a shock company. 50 men, basically working independently from the rest of the units. They basically existed for the express purpose of causing as much havoc and mayhem as possible. Hit the Germans hard and fast, kill as many as possible and get out. By doing this, keeping the Germans in danger in every moment, and ensuring that they did not get a moments peace, they would grind down their morale. At least that was the idea. Besides, the defenders did not get a moment's peace, so it was only fair that they give it back to Germany.

When they were around 20 metres away, Miltiados and his men rushed forwards. "INVICTA!!!!" Miltiados cried.

"INVICTA!!!" the cry was repeated by the rest of the Consortium as they surged forwards, a Gladius in each hand ready to be buried in a German throat, chest, or face.

It has come to our intention that your nation as fallen under possibly one of the worst tragedies we have ever foreseen on any nation. The Civil war must had weaken your nation but we’re glad the two factions are able to peaceful negotiate a solution by becoming a constitutional monarchy. Even though we’re glad your inner conflicts are now over, some of our republic member states have been disappointed by the failure of the nationalist faction. But that isn’t going to be a big deal; what’s more important is the very survival of your nation and world.

Much of the assembly of the UNT have voted and agreed to aid your country in its time of crisis with every thing from supplies and aid workers to troops and military support.

The Security Council has also agreed that such an act of aggression from these foreign powers on your country must be dealt with both diplomatic and militarily.

We may watch and observe invasions of countries from foreign powers but crimes against humanity are totally unacceptable by any means. This is why that as for the next day we’ll deploy close to two hundred thousand troops to be sent overseas to your country to protect its land against foreign aggression. Seeing the mass number of enemy forces in your country, we’ll send in a large number of anti-air, anti-ship and anti-tank missiles and artillery to combat these forces along with numerous cruise missiles and other such weapons.

If the situation ever gets out of hand or if our forces over get overrun, Codename Zeus will be activated and will strike at any force that is large enough to be a danger to the whole nation.

Despite willing to help and aid, we must not land on a nation’s sovereignty without permission from its government. We the UNITED NATIONS OF TERRGAIA have agreed to join this conflict to protect Columbia sovereign soil against her attackers and bring justice to this region once and for all. We will only join this conflict if given permission from Columbia’s leaders. Since your country is a constitutional monarchy, we acquire both the king and prime minister to agree.

If this conflict is ever over, we are hoping that we would be able to become trading partners. We’ll setup an economic deal were both our countries would be able to trade, setup business, and travel between each other. Think of this as a Free Trade Agreement, but this will only be possible if we together fight these enemies of peace.

Let the other allies of yours know that we’re joining this fight on your side and send this message to them as well. May we and any god bring hope and strength to Columbia so we may fight this invasive menace!

OCC: Just to let you guys know I type slow so it takes time to type up a decent post. I hope this doesn't bother you guys but I looked at this thread and thought it will be awesome to join.
We UNT forswear the use of force if extreme necessity in the settlement of disputes between states; the assurance of human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language or religion and the safeguarding of planetary peace and security.

A interesting thing on our Coalitions ways of dealing with foreign affairs is that we "Ask questions first, act immediately right after answer". This is so that if the person or entity being questioned shows or holds a detrimental nature, we would know the answer and react with immediate caution.

Consul Kirov's Address
Consul Kirov, Rodinan Forum, Veraglia, the Rodina

A few days after the Praetor's Death

Consul Kirov had received incredibly grave news earlier in the week. The great Praetor Caius Aurelius, loved throughout the Rodina for his fair, even hand, had been assassinated while trying to leave the battlefield of Philadelphia. The assassins had been identified as New Axiomites, allies to the Communists, but were on good terms with the Germans. In the Rodina, should the Praetor die during war, the Consul would take up his place as head of the Rodina, and the Prime Senator would become the new De Facto Consul, although both would keep their titles.

As Kirov was the new de facto ruler of the Rodina, he was expected to give an address to the nation, and offer his condolences to the loss of the late Praetor. He had already attended an impromptu funeral, where the Praetor's wife and children gave some incredibly touching speeches. But now he would have to give a rousing speech to the Senate, and get vengeance for the Praetor's death.

"As many of you are aware, fighting continues in the capital of Philadelphia, but fear not! We have already destroyed the German Morale, they are nothing but frightened goats!" this claim was not strictly true, but none of the Senators had ever fought in a battle, and most of them were not well-read in the battle of Philadelphia. Those that saw through his clear exagerration said nothing. "However, in a final, cowardly, move, the dying German has lashed out on a man who deserved it less than anybody in this world."

"Yes, I speak of our late Honourable Praetor Caius Aurelius, loved of the people and great leader of the Senate." Kirov needed to ensure his premier speech was fantastic, the address was being broadcast to the nation, and he needed to make a good impression to make his plan work. "He was shot dead by Axiom assailants at midday, three days ago. The Praetorian Guards fought as well as they could, but they were able to murder our beloved Praetor without his guard knowing before it was too late."

"I tell you now! This atrocity against our people will not stand!" he said, "Axiom must pay! The 2nd Legion is already marching through Mexico to relieve our men in Philadelphia, but we must strike a blow! For the Rodina! For the Praetor!" he slowed down and laid his hands on the Podium. "The Rodina remains strong. Our allies in Columbia are taking the force of this blow, and they have done nothing to deserve this unwarranted incursions on their soil, repeated chemical weapons attacks, breaches of the Geneva convention and Crimes against Humanity."

"These Fascists are the greatest risk this world has ever seen, and I bid you stand with me now, Senators! They must be punished! For my first act as Proconsul, I will redirect the 2nd Legion from their push north, to meet the Axiom forces coming from Honduras. The 14th Cohort in Hawaii will move and strike them from behind, landing in Honduras itself while the 2nd Legion engages the main Axiom force."

"These are hard times, but the Rodina is strong, and the Rodina will remain strong! The enemy fears that which the Rodina has unleashed upon them, and we will show them true strength of the Rodina! GLORIA ENIM INVICTUS IN RODINA!" he declared. His appropriation of lines from Saint Riley Wacel's famous battle speech before the battle of Veraglia was well received. The Senators stood and applauded loudly as Kirov exited the stage. As he did he met with his Prime Senator, who was now the acting Consul. With the Consul on his side, it was only a matter of time and maneuvering before Kirov could effectively seize absolute power over the Rodina.

Cheyenne
The Duke eagerly shook hands with Hancock. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Prime Minister. Although our travel here was, a bit, umm… Unconventional, I am very happy to finally be at the nucleus of allied government again." The Duke, however was also short on attendants and guards. These would be brought with Klaus; he was to join them at Cheyenne shortly.
New Orleans
With the onslaught on Philadelphia worsening and a new front in Mexico, Louisiana was dubbed a sideshow theatre and the air forces and troops were called back. Gen Doppler advised the Columbians to also retreat in favor of a defensive campaign in Arkansas or Mississippi(You damn commies better not take my home state of AR!); the enemy was just too strong. The Capilean forces withdrew to Little Rock and met up with the 1st Expeditionary. The 100,000 troops have been reformed into the Department of the Mississippi and are charged with the defense of the rich lands of central Columbia.
Meanwhile the air forces had taken heavy casualties and were repulsed; however, the same could be said for the enemy. The surviving 300 fighters and 25 bombers(roughly) were sent North to Philly immediately.
Outskirts of Philadelphia
Finally the 350,000 strong Capilean force was nearing Philadelphia. With them they brought almost 1,000 light and medium tanks; hopefully these forces would turn the tide in favor of the allies once more. Meanwhile, the training and mobilization of the 2nd Capilean Expeditionary Force was almost complete, and the Third was beginning to form up.
Nova Capile
After one month of training and mobilization(most of the new troops are militia, veterans, or police units that already had some basic training), the 563,000 man force was ready to deploy. Another massive transport fleet had assembled to escort it. Within the week they would depart for Columbia. Meanwhile, the recruitment of 250,000 more troops was beginning as well. These would receive extensive training, and are expected to be ready to deploy in six months time. Nova Capile was truly going to war; if one million more Capileans would have to be sent to win the war, so be it.
OOC: Where should I deploy my next force, guys?

Emporer Cyrus Silva was pleased when he heard the news. The Capilean forces, Columbias greatest asset in the region, had fallen back to Louisiana's neighboring states. Apart from a few groups (of unknown sizes) of Columbian troops , the city of New Orleans was finally almost under Imperial control. Casualties were high, around 50,000-60,000 men had died in the fighting, but reinforcements would arrive within hours from Cuba and Honduras. Now, Cyrus could attempt to push up and capture the soft, penut buttery Midwest states including Iowa (OOC:I don't want to attack my home  lol ) Minnesota, Kansas and Missouri. He initiated a first step in his plan: hired a civilian boatman to take his speedboat up the Mississippi. He would be back in a few days.

Mississippi River Crossing, Mississippi
A large patrol force of 30 men was assigned to guard a large river ford, named Sudley Ford. Suddenly their leader, Major Karl Bausch, noticed a civilian craft headed up the river. "What in God's name? I thought that civilian passage would be prohibited by the Axomites. Who in the world could that be?" Of course, it fit was an Axomite trap, the Maj and his men would be in a bad position. Most of the Capilean army was already in Arkansas. "Alright men; Stop that boat!"
OOC: If your Emperor isn't going that far or if you don't think this is realistic just let me know.
Philadelphia
Finally, after so many weeks of hard, forced marches, the Capileans were walking into the streets of Philly. But what a mess it was. Corpses and wrecked shells of tanks, cars, and equipment littered almost every street, making it impossible for an orderly march. Up on the front lines this was done deliberately to slow the enemy down and was even worse. General Winser rode in a humvee to Independence Hall, where a Rodinian HQ had been set up. He was there to temporarily hand over control of the 350,000 Capilean troops and their equipment to Rodinia; that was, until he could be fully briefed on the situation and develop a strategy. From what he picked up from vague intelligence reports it seemed like the allied coalition was still holding most of the city, but the Germans were pushing hard with heavy tank divisions and flanking forces. It also seemed like several thousand Axomite paras had been dropped in numerous places around the city. Truly, it was pure chaos. He could not help but admire the Rodinians. They were steadfast and brave, and had stood against the German onslaught with hardly any support for days now. Hopefully with the arrival of Rodinian reinforcements, the 1 million Allied troops would be able to throw the enemy from the city; Winser could also hope that the arrival of his troops would help make a dent in the Germans, perhaps gain some more ground, and at the very least provide a morale boost for the defenders.
Cheyenne Mountain Complex
The Duke's private jet lowered into the small hangar within the complex and the engines shut off. After the landing ramp was lowered, Klaus stepped out, followed by many Royal Guards and a few attendants. After a quick chat with the hangar bay officer, Klaus went to go find his father and the Prime Minister.

OOC: Should have a post up later today.

Presidential Palace, Cobb Island

Chavos Gusto had spent the last 24 hours drinking incessantly. The ceasefire had been his greatest diplomatic achievement to date. If it had succeeded, it may have even redeemed him in the eyes of the world. After all, world peacemaker sounded a lot better than guy who was ousted from Tropico five times.

Somewhere in his alcoholic haze, an idea popped into his head.

"Call the foreign minister," He said.

Cobb Island Foreign Ministry

The foreign ministry released the following statement:

A path toward peace in Columbia.

The conflict in Columbia continues to drag more and more nations into it. And with that lies the increased risk of the use of weapons of mass destruction.

Clearly, a bold proposal is needed to end the conflict.

It seems obvious that the USC became unstable because of its large size. This in turn created instability, which led to civil war, and now the foreign invasions.

But what is the solution? Is it foreign occupation? Cobb Island thinks this would not solve anything. The victors would inevitably fight over the spoils, and the people would continue to suffer.

Accordingly Cobb Island makes the following proposals.

1. All parties to enter into another 24 hour cease fire
2. A further round of talks in Cobb Island.
3. The invading parties will agree that territorial annexations are off the table. The USC will not be divided into foreign held enclaves.
4. The USC agrees to return to the early 20th century borders of North America. The USC will keep the original continental United States. All other former nations such as Canada, Mexico, Cuba, and the other former nations will become newly independent countries once more.
5. Free and fair elections will be conducted in the newly created nations under the supervision of the World Assembly.

The Duke was hesitant to enter in to peace talks until Columbia made it's decision. However Cobb Island was sent the following note, and Morser's helicopter was readied from St. Louis.
To:Cobb Island
From:The Grand Duchy of Nova Capile
Greetings, friends and allies. We would like to express our gratitude for your perseverance in wanting peace. While we would like to reserve a spot in your conference for Ambassador Morser, we cannot send him until Columbian also partakes in the conference, for reasons of our own. Mr. Morser will depart for your country if, and when, Columbia agrees to the peace talks. We all hope that this war ends soon.
