"Copy that, TACCOM."

Halicon withdrew her finger, then trudged over to a nearby moss-matted tree. She eased onto the ground, wings flaring out and tearing through the surrounding flora to accomodate her.

"Looks like we have a few minutes before TACCOM responds. Now, I'd like to know more about your own little hellpit of a nation."

[Paginista]

"What is there to know that isn't already known? We're a post nuclear civil war, militaristic nation that vaulues the military above many other things. We're behind many wars that have happened and have one of the largest weapons sectors in the world... We're also made up of seven foot tall elves so to speak with abnormal resistance to radiation... what else is there that you want to know?"

Halicon shrugged.

"I dunno, maybe a single spark of fuckin light in the midst of all that doom, gloom, and goddamn desolation. Shit, you sound like you wanna suck off a fucking pistol, man. You say you cannot die, what, like Victor Macanis?"

The Chairman looked at Halicon breifly."this is why its such gloom with me" he said putting his hands together he turned his mechanical arm into a blade almost instantly and proceeded to cut his own head off.

Halicon wasn't fazed in the slightest.

"Spare me the theatrics, Elric, I was talking about your nation. You are a dictator, no? What happens to your people is under your control. SO what happens, you choose to happen, whether through activity or negligence."

As his head slowly grew back the chairman seemed a little pissed off. "Who the fuck is Elric?" he asked before giving a sigh.

Halicon just shook her head.

"Forget it. Anyways, I suppose the only answers you'd give me are the same damn excuses I hear time and again. I cannot change your mind nor your ways, so it's not worth trying."

"As for your questions if I was able to finish. In paginista the people are taught to respect and restrain themselves. It's the only damn way I'm able to cope with the trauma of surviving a nuclear detonation, yet somehow magically being able to go from bing a burned, pitch black walking corpse to a normal looking person. Have you ever been burned? Because the pain from being almost turned to dust is somthing that stays in my fucking mind every day. So yes I am a control freak, psycopathic despot who uses his people to take out his anger and hide his emotions. Yes I am a leader who is so scarred by his life this far that he as to feign sanity half the time to keep stable... and it is somthing I want to change before im driven to destroying everything I touch"

"So yes I am the reason why nobody can speak out against the government, why corportations are able to excersize their own twisted version of the law. If anyone refuses conscription then they get thrown into forced labour battalions till they die. The police are nearly indistinguishable from the military... Religion in almost every form is heavily monitored, the population are half drugged and even in spite of the mass of poverty we're somehow able to be economically sucessful. If an average person were to invent somthing they would most likely sued for breaching copyright by whatever company makes the claim first and get an almost instant ruling in favour of that company. Its a hellpit like you said and..."

Halicon rose slowly, grasping the right arm of her suit with her left. With a pneumatic hiss, the armature disconnected from the main torso and pulled away from... nothing. No arm, just a mechatronic module where the severed stump should have been. Jagged scars creeped out from under the silver steel.

"Call me a kindred spirit. This is what three thousand degrees and failure looks like. You know it well. We have our own permanent reminders of what failure can cost us."

[Paginista]

Seeing the similar lack of arm on Halicon the Chairman gave a soft smile. "I...It's good to know that at least one person I've met knows what it's like to lose... to truly fail... I guess that is the price we must pay for dodging the bullet." the chairman started to chuckle.

"And you've given me some small spark of light in the gloom of my country... You've made me sappy enough to care about this place a whole lot more... It's been a hundred and fifty years of harsh rule since I've felt that"

Halicon reconnected the suit armature, bolts and nodules connecting with a cacophony of clicks and whirrs.

"I'm glad I could bring at least a semblance of light into your world. Perhaps once you return, this country will have inspired you. Inspired you to make the final push towards a brighter future for you and your citizens."

"Completion acknowledged. Thank you, TACCOM. Chairman, I have our quarry's position. Twenty klicks north of this position, stationary. Shall we continue?"

[Paginista]

"I've always had a plan to slowly push Paginista back... it will take a very long time. But I have... 'successors' I.E a few clones linked to my mind who can slowly push Paginista into something like Vistoran style politics, while I 'disappear' to this place... And yes it would be a good time to get going"

"Well, if you were to retire anywhere, this would certainly be the place."

Trampling the bushes and ferns in her way, Halicon began tromping back through the jungle. Dusk was approaching, and as the light began to fade from the sky, shadows grew longer and deeper, and darkness began to fall upon the dense interior of the forest. As the sunlight decreased, however, another light source, faint and ghostly, started to pulsate from between the trees. Halicon motioned for the chairman to stop.

"Stay here, I'll scout ahead."

A bright blue line swept across the armor's surface, a watery, shimmery nothingness replacing the once imposing metal until there was nothing visible left, nothing but a slight distortion in the air.

[Paginista]

The chairman gave a small smile as the sun's rays filtered through the foliage. He agreed to stay put when asked to. It wouldn't be a good Idea in the low light conditions to be going around at random. However it didnt mean the chairman didnt get ready in case he were to be attacked.

Halicon shifted through the vegetation, oddly careful to avoid ripping or tearing at the flora now that she was invisible. Drifting across the ground like a ghost, she disappeared into the shifting darkness beyond the trees. Every so often, the spectral light would pulse, each time getting brighter, and brighter, until...

Halicon reappeared, fully visible, and holding something in her hand. It was a pulsing glass hemisphere atop a flat, circular metallic base.

"Tomography jammer. Whoever this is, they have technology advanced enough to fool a Satscan. Are you sure you are not familiar with this enemy? Some tactical information would be invaluable at this point."

[Paginista]

The chairman gave some thought to the question, thinking of all those he had angered in the past. "I'm sorry. I have no real clue given how many people wish me death. More countries wish me death than ones i've constructed alliances with. The only reason why some massive coalition hasn't invaded paginista at all is the fact we produce most of their electronic goods"

Halicon crushed the device between her armored fingers, tossing the smoldering hunk of wrought steel and shattered glass to the ground.

"I might be able to get another Satscan running, but no promises. For the mean time, I think I'll take to the skies and start scouting for signs of the invader. Do you have a comms device on you?"
