Desmond Geriad had, throughout the trip, been making his presence less known. Sure, if one looked he would easily be found, but that was his greatest means of maintaining his infamous air of mystery; no one bothered to look where he was, and he made an effort to not attract attention to himself. Seeing an opportunity to interject on the current meeting, he shifted slightly, and lightly tapped his middle and index fingers into his palm, producing enough noise to draw attention.

Desmond was not a handsome man. Despite being only 37 years of age his hair was completely grey and was beginning to show signs of balding; his face was creased, much like a wizened old man. Dark bags hung under his eyes, begetting a perpetual tiredness, yet all the same his posture remained upright, and his gaze focused.

"If I may interject, I must state that I find the chances of dissuading the nations in question through the proposed arrangements would be... minimal." He began, quietly, an almost croaking sound mirroring his speech as his throat visibly vibrated. "These nations have a track record of being unpredictable, and the mere presence of extra force is unlikely to deter them from action. While a good starting point to any defencive negotiations would be setting a system in place for quick access to potential conflict zones, in order for us to truly get anywhere a much more interconnected system will be required."

He paused to breathe, a rasp coming through. "Of course, we all know the less than stellar track record of multinational pacts in the area. So many have been proposed, so few have gone through. Foremost, do we even have the will to create one and make a difference in this zone of power? That is one question that must be answered. Another, if the will exists, is how will we ensure that a pact wouldn't break down like the many others."

Desmond closed his eyes, and lowered his head, his voice dropping to barely a whisper, while coming through in a more crisp manner. "Are these even questions that we can answer?" He took an attentive pose once more, and chuckled. "I suppose that we must find out."

Thaamas took another note: Consider for base 06? Haven' 2,500 pers' + 3 frig' + dest'; advise to accept.

"I understand. Now, while I myself have no executive power, the Prime Minister asked me to be here both as his friend and as a former minister of defense, since he assumed this issue would come up. Therefore I can't officially accept your offer now, but I can bring this to a quick vote with my blessing, and it will probably be approved."

Thaamas turned his look to Desmond, carefully listening. We're not keen to enter 'pacts', he thought to himself, this is usually the Oster policy. Pacts create mainly limitations - not opportunities. Bilateral agreements are more stable and trustworthy. He waited to see what the Havenburghian president will say.

The Havenburghian land came in sight of the airplane of the Royal Imperialonian Airways. Consuls Wessel and Melas sat in the plane and really looked forward to the meeting.

"You're highnesses, we are preparing to land."

"You know, -said Melas to Wessel- it's a pity such a mighty land of Havneburgh does not crown a king or other monarch to rule..."

"Yes, it is. But a president is also a good step forward, maybe it comes one time..."

The plane landed in Havenburgh and the two monarchs stepped out, there was a limousine ready to take them to the meeting.

Franco-Albion wrote:"Ms Thatcher?"
Slowly stirring from her sleep, the Prime Minister opened her tired eyes. As she become more aware of her surroundings, the blurred images of the room around her began to come into vision. She raised her head from her arm upon where it rested and looked around for the caller of her name. A few feet in front of her stood a tall, red-headed, young looking woman, holding a cup and saucer in her hand.
"I'm sorry to disturb you my Lady, but I thought you'd want a hot drink."
"Ah, thank you Glynda," said Lady Thatcher, taking the cup from the assistant. "How long was I asleep for?"
"About 3 hours. You must of drifted off after you sent me to get those papers, when I came back I saw ..." She cut herself off, embarrassed at the thought of telling the Prime Minister that she had 'drifted off' whilst working.
Lady smiled and chuckled lightly, her lightly wrinkled hands placing the cup and saucer down on the table to the side. "Don't worry yourself Glynda. I AM an old woman you know ..."
"Ms Thatcher ..." Glynda gasped quietly as she sat in the chair opposite her, "you're not old."
"Nonesense!" Thatcher laughed light-heartedly. "I'm nearly 70 years old! My skin is wrinkled, I have great-grandchildren, my bones ache and ... oh how my bones ache. I am the very definition of an old woman."
Glynda stood in silence.
Thatcher noticed her silence and lighted her chin up with her hand. "And yet, I'm still known as the Iron Lady."
The young women nodded and smiled, before standing up and giving her dress a quick brush down with her hand, whilst Ms Thatcher opened the envelope of papers that was brought to her.
"These are papers on the delegates and their nations, yes?" she queried, putting on a pair of delicate spectacles.
"Yes, Ms Thatcher. The papers were prepared by the Foreign Minister himself," Glynda noted. "Mr Fox also instructed me to say that his department had included their notes as well."
"Ah yes, Mr Fox ..." noted the Minister, as she continued to read the papers. "Havenburgh ... they're an interesting nation. Tell me Glynda, what are your thoughts on them?"

"My thoughts?" Glynda stammered. "You'd like ... MY thoughts on them?"
The Iron Lady nodded, placing down the papers to watch her assistant's reaction.
"Well ... I ..."
"Go on. What do you make of them?" she queried.
Glynda cleared her throat and gathered her thoughts. "Well, they seem like a resourceful nation ..."
Ms Thatcher nodded, listening carefully to what she had to say.
"... a nation steep in tradition. One that seems eager to meet and greet nations, almost too eager you might say."
She continued to listen, taking another sip of tea from her cup.
"But one could say they are TOO traditional. They had their fabulous architecture, wonderful landscapes, a supportive economy and are generally regarded as a peaceful safe-haven ..."
Lady Thatcher studied the women, her cup and hand hovering above the table. "But ...?"
Glynda paused, contemplating. "But they could be after something else ..."
The old woman smiled. "So, you think there might be a seedier side. Not necessarily a bad thing, but an ulterior motive?"
Her red hair bounced slightly as Glynda cautiously nodded.
Thatcher placed her cup back on the saucer. "Good. In this day and age, one can never be too careful."

There was a knock at the door, as the room shook gently.
"Enter," stated the Minister loudly.
The door opened and smart, stubble-faced man entered the room, the white shirt of his uniform seemed to glow gently in the warm light of the office.
"Ms Thatcher, Miss Fitzpatrick ..." the man politely greeted the room's occupants. "We'll be landing shortly. Once again, I'm sorry for the de-"
"Thank you Henry," interrupted the Minister, "but I know it wasn't your fault. Bad weather is bad weather. For all our technological gains, we humans are still at the mercy of Mother Nature."
The pilot nodded. "Yes ma'am."

Meanwhile, in Eternia...
King Randor and Queen Marlena, the Imperial regents and former Emperor and Empress of Nova Catania, sat on the Imperial Thrones for the first time in what seemed like forever. They would be the last leaders of the "old" Nova Catania, and they knew it. Randor by no means was disapointed when Adam would ascend the throne, he had prepared him for this very day, and yet... it seems that Adam was unprepared for this. The so-called "Grayskull Loyalty" group wanted to oust every last person who was linked to the Colonial Times, and place a person of "Pure Grayskull blood" on the throne in every corner of the Three Dominions. Randor's presence seemed to have calmed the storm a bit, but he knew as soon as his son and nephew returned, ought-right war would begin. It would seem that everyone's found something to complain and go to war over... he thought sardonically. The Christians in the west and the Iliyah-worshipers in the east have bad blood thanks to Catania ending a century and a half of humanist isolation. A flood that had for so long been held back now threatened to break loose. He hoped that Adam and Aster were faring better...
Their Majesties, Randor and Marlena:

After the stop, ryan walked back into the dining hall. Getting into a posistion where everyone can hear him, he spoke over the crowd
"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to Avalone, the capital of Havenburgh. We are under the capital building, about 13 freights. Our final destination, the meeting chambers is in the south wing of the building, and thats where we are headed. Now if you all will follow me, we can get to where we are going."
Walking to the doors, he led the group out if the train and the metro, to a huge elevator about an acre in size. They all got on, and sped up to the main floor, where the door opened with a ding. A female robotic voice chimed in
"Welcome back to the palace of kings, sir"
Ryan smirked, before getting off and leading them to the main meeting chambers. There were guards in suits everywhere, keeping an eye of everything. A MP5 was hidden in each of their jackets

The halls were beautiful, decorated with marvelous sights. From golden statues to long extinct plants to million dollar paintings, the halls had it all. Chandeliers hang from the ceilings, white halls and pillars providing a great backdrop.

Ryan chuckled
"No. Its a neutral color. The color in the of goodness and neutrality. Much like a hospital, we use it to help people get more comfortable and be at ease without feeling any moods."
Ryan kept walking, leading the group down the long hallways to the meeting chambers, a huge room. As everyone stepped in and took a seat, the doors closed with a hiss.
"You are now in a air tight system, with its own vent systems. Nobody can see or hear you outside."

Ryan stood in the center, making sure everyone was comfortable. With a click of hid watch servants came in and gave everyone refreshments, then they quickly left. As the door closed, Ryan began.
"Everyone, thank you for coming. It is an honour to see you all here. Im sure you are all wondering why you are here, correct? Well, I will give you a chance to ask any question right now"

Aerona had not said or done much until now. But she was getting suspicious of the way that this was going. "Indeed sir, tell us why are we here?"

On Government: Checks and balances and ways of stopping things from happening are the only things that provide a stable government and a stable society.

On Democracy: It is a very neutral thing. It can be the best way of ensuring a reasonable government, or it can lead to genocide in the name of 'the people'.

On NSG: I believe the technical term for you people is "malformed conscience".

On society: Until reason and science become cool again, the "enlightened" who profess both but practice neither will continue to gleefully chip away at the bedrock of human society.

Consuls Wessel and Melas looked to Aerona.

"Would their nation still be angry since the Imperialonian-Sadievi war?" asked Wessel to Melas

"Probably, but I still do not regret it, I mean... That were the last months I was an absolute emperor, I had to do something spectacular..."

"Well, you better don't say that to loud..." Whispered Wessel
