They are nearing FTL tech rather quickly as their scientists are working on it full time.

Ever since the Homeworld was destroyed by the neutron star, the Mawlanders have been a nomad nation, collecting supplies from every single planet they encountered, which was mostly planets with poisonous atmospheres and volcanic ones. However, Alek-Vat-Hin was going to change this as he was elected the Supreme Leader of the Mawlanders, which were at the time, called Remnants. He expanded the terraforming, economic, and militaristic ability of the people, and then, they stumbled near a habitable planet orbiting the habitable zone of a K class star, which was at a stable orbit near a black hole. Alek-Vat-Hin then gave the order to settle that planet, thus, the nomadic people were finally settled. A city was founded, and it got the name of Capitol as it was the capital of the new nation, which was now an empire given that the people owned the entire planet. Then a massive settlement boom of cities and towns occurred. The emperor then called the planet Krosant, and the system Sharu-Khan, as this was the other nomadic leader who tried, and failed to settle the people. The emperor then ordered to build a Starfleet, which was done in two years. Then a settlement ship settled on the nearby barren, but habitable world of Tauine. Fast forward to the present and the entirety of the Sharu-Khan system is under Mawlander control.

The word Mawlander comes from the fact that nearby areas are filled to the brim with black holes that took in matter like voracious animals with a gaping MAW.
