Revolution in Bjornsby

Bjornsby is a nation with a troubled history. For much of its existence, it was ruled by foreign powers, often brutally. Wars commonly found their way to the Bjornsbian shores as powers contested its ownership. Eventually, after much persuasion, Bjornsby became an independent nation, under the rule of a King of foreign roots. The kingdom be came popular for its great innovation and liberal stance. But that has changed. Six years ago, King Christian IV took the throne. A famous conservative, not only did he halt the liberalisation of the kingdom, but he reversed it.

King Christian IV

Republican thought began to grow even before Christian IV, but under him, it grew exponentially. The main figure in the republican movement was Sven Kranson, a pragmatic politician determined to overthrow the monarchy. In the sixth year of King Christian IV's reign, the first major protests began against the King. The monarchy responded by using the army against the protesters. The protests began to swell - into a full-blown republican revolution.

Due to Diomede's very liberal social policies and socialist economy, the population and government have overwhelmingly supported the revolution in Bjornsby. The President, Mikhail Khristen have spoken with the Minister of Defence on the possibility of assisting the revolutionaries.

The leader of the Republican Party, Sven Kranson, has finally now endorsed the revolutionaries and has stated that he will be happy to lead the revolution and lead Bjornsby to the road of the republic. Together with a close group of ministers, he has declared the Federal Republic of Ny-Bjornsby, and has urged the international community to endorse the new republic and order King Christian IV to step down.

The People's Republic of Diomede Islands have now officially endorsed the new Federal Republic of Ny-Bjornsby. However, the Ministry of Defence have sent a secret dispatch to the new republic.

OPERATION FOXLIE

Due to the rogue reign of King Christian IV, we are afraid he may not easily step down and easily cause a civil war. If this happen, Diomede Islands will launch it first operation in order to assist the Federal Republic of Ny-Bjornsby.
The Diomeden Air Force will do a airlift and drop off supplies to the new Federal Republic in case of a civil war. This will include ammunitions, weapons, medical supplies, technologies, and if possible, perhaps vehicles.
The second and most important point of this operation will be sending in undercover agents of the Diomeden Secret Intelligence Services (DSIS) which willl spread false rumors that will discredit King Christian IV that can easily humiliate him and also spread propaganda against him.

Due to budget limits, however, we will not be sending ground troops. The Soviet Government stresses that it does not want hostilities with third parties, and seeks to remain neutral with participating forces.

We condemn all rebellions under the new covenant w/o exception including this one. We urge all citizens of Bjornsby to remain loyal to their king or face the possibility of hades (hell).

There are some assemblies (churches) in communion w/ us in Bjornsby. They affirm their loyalty to King Christian IV & thus can be expected to obey all laws that do not contradict the God's commands, including taxation & non-combatant military service.

We will be sending continuous humanitarian support of a non-military nature, such as food & fuel, to all decent, hard-working people of Bjornsby.

The Euro-state Government condemns the rebels, fearing for a dis-balance of power and the threat of international revolts against the government. As Euro-state is a nearby country, several tank and infantry divisions have attacked so called rebel hideouts without provocation and Minister Derriez addresses the loyalists to fight back. Critics accuse Euro-state as using the opportunity to expand their lands, not caring for the overall result.

The Diomeden Air Force have done a air lift over the new Republic's land claimed by the rebels dropping down ammunitions, weapons, technologies, and supplies. However, the DSIS (Diomeden Secret Intelligence Service) have sent a team in in the capitol controlled by King Christian IV. They have spread two rumors and propaganda, hurting the King's reputation. They have spread a false rumor of King Christian IV embezzling money earned from workers starting off riots through major factories which they have refused to assist with the war effort against the rebels. They have also started a rumor saying King Christian IV have raped one of his female advisor starting shock and outrage at the King saying he is incompetent to respect his government workers and he is hungry for sex. People been losing faith in the King due to the new rumors and propaganda.

King Christian IV gave a speech from the safety of his palace this morning, directed at the rebels and republicans.

"People of Bjornsby. The kingdom has saved you from the jaws of colonial war and made you great. To rebel against your king would be a grave sin. God himself has granted rule to the hands of the king of Bjornsby. You would fail without a king. For the sake of Bjornsby, I will ensure that no rebels take control and establish a republic. This will not happen. Abandon your aspirations"

This authoritarian speech provoked fury from the republicans, who have condemned it as something six centuries old, but many Bjornsbians have unfortunately swallowed it. One republican has called for the Republican Movement to offer more power for the presidential role, to compensate for the future loss of the king.

Euro-state has kept rolling in troops, even ignoring official government pleas to stop. The King himself has asked the Euro-state forces to fall back, believing that their help is not needed, however Euro-state officials have ignored them, saying that the king is being manipulated by pro-rebel ministers. The Euro-state military is left, as of yet unchallenged as no official declaration of war has been sent. However rebel have slowed the army.

Some of the king's ministers are beginning to wonder whether the army is able to deal with the problems of both the rebels and the invaders. Many are now beginning to call for Christian IV to resign.

With the unrest in Bjiornsby blossoming into full scale revolt, Liccea has begun funnelling arms and equipment to left-wing revolutionary groups, especially those groups that show libertarian socialist leanings, in an effort to provoke outright revolution.

Liccean citizens, generally sympathetic to the rebel cause, have also begun mobilising into volunteer units, and journeying to Bjiornsby in order to link up and fight with rebel groups.

[Edit]: Liccea also begins mobilising elements of its professional military forces, the Black-Bloc, with a view to helping the rebels effectively resist the external invasion forces.

King Christian has officially resigned, and power is now held by a group of princes. Prince Haakon has prepared a reform package for Bjornsby and has promised to bring justice to Bjornsby, while at the same time retaining the monarchy, as he says, for stability.

Of course, we still want you to estatblish your new Republic but it seem that the Prince will not give up power so easily and may continue to be corrupt.
Please understand this is only a backup plan and will only be activated if the Prince does continue to be corrupt.
In that case, the Diomeden Air Force will do strategic bombing over Bjornsby's military bases to weaken their power for future fights against you.

With the resignation of the King Euro-state forces have halted, trying to work out an agreement with the princes. However some warlike Euro-state ministers are proposing for an all-out war. So far rebel forces have pushed back Euro-state forces back to the border and indecision reigns in the military with high death rates.
