Both ideas sound good-now we've got volunteers for both sides.
Both of you are in. Prut, what sort of weaponry would the volunteers have, and would the expats have any weapons?

Prutenia, my country is loosely based off Cyprus. British colony with a sizeable Turkish population. So entering the military or police is good,as is the various civilian job sectors mentioned, with the exception of industry. Parina has very little industry, so jobs would be limited and married men would be given jobs first, because the extra income helps support their families.
Overall, being part of the intelligentsia is fine, as are the weapons for the volunteers.

The bulk of the fighting will be in the cities at first, then moving out to the countryside, then back to the cities, as the socialists revolt, push out, and are pushed back.

Then there's the dockworkers and mechanicals, who make less than the industrial workers but otherwise are even. There's the poor and homeless but they're few in number.
History-wise, Parina hasn't fought a.war since the short-lived Turkish occupation during WWI (Parina is located in the Med. Sea). The people are either descendants of English colonists or Turkish settlers. The English descendants live in Anglicia Province and the Turkish descendants live in Cypria Province.
The socialists draw their manpower from the workers, with practically no support from anyone else.

Aha, I see. Are there ethnic tensions? Or even religious ones? Also an important question for me is, what about the high society? The educated, the intellectuals and Artists in particular. I already see the social tension in the country, there seems to be a rather strong class distinction. You say the workers have no support from anyone at all? At all? I mean, someone would take the opportunity to profit from their misery. Also, how long will the "Civil war" last?

Prutenia: There is some tension between Cyprians (who are mostly Muslims) and Anglicians (who are Anglicans), but they've lived together for decades so there's not much in the way of open hatred or conflict.
The high society are mostly merchants or industrial kingpins who are rich enough to pursue other pastimes, leaving running their businesses to their subordinates, or rich immigrants.
I meant that the socialists have no supprt from anyone except from workers. The war will last a few years or so.
