In many cities across Azurlavai, the following leaflet has been appearing in staggering numbers, as well as instances of spontaneous protest and a sharp rise in Syndaclist graffiti. The military and ISK have already responded, and while hundreds of arrests have already been made, the flow continues

Image

To the workers of Azurlavai

You who toil in the fields, in the mines, the factories, the shops

You who will never receive any of what you labor for

It does not matter how much sweat pours from your brow

It does not matter that your back breaks

Everything you work for belongs to the state

The military machine that will take your labor and turn it into weapons

Who will march your sons and daughters off to foreign wars

And crush the voice of any who speak out against them

You will get nothing back from them

Fear has driven your mind

Fear of the unknown

Fear for your safety

You have made concessions to an unjust military regime, and have been indoctrinated to not even realize you are enslaved by it

The day is coming when we will break the chains, destroy the machine of war, restore the rights of the worker

Then, on that day when the Kollective stands high

Your labor will mean everything

JOIN THE REVOLUTION!
BREAK THE CHAINS!
DOWN WITH THE STRATOCRACY!
*No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy.
*If your positions are firmly set and you are prepared to take the enemy assault on, he will bypass you.
*If your ambush is properly set, the enemy won't walk into it.
*If your flank march is going well, the enemy expects you to outflank him.

[Azura and Montemayor - AMBC] Hrabské –The Ministry of Defense announced late this evening that the Emperor has directed the Department of the Navy to deploy a naval task force to West Aerick per a request issued by the Azurlav government.

The request comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region following threats made by the Mubatan regime that threatened Azurlav trade and personnel operating in the region. The Ministry of Defense spokesman announced the deployment to a small group of gathered press at the MoD headquarters in the capital and assured the public that the Empire was not preparing for war, but solely responding the a request made by the Azurlav government to increase security and stability in the region. "The deployment is in response to a request made by the government of Azurlavai and is expected to only last for a month at the most. We are not expecting any conflict nor is this preparation for an escalation of conflict. The government has been in discussions with the Azurlav government since last year about joint operations bases and joint training exercises in Aerick and across our two countries and this happens to be the time when we have come to an agreement."

It is not clear which naval task force will be deployed to Aerick. When questioned by reporters in attendance, the spokesman only said that a detailed list of deployed assets would be released within the coming day.

Despite the assurance from the MoD that the deployment is not meant to prepare for an escalation of conflict, sources close to the Emperor and Minister of Defense tell AMBC that the deployment is meant to be a show of force and that many hope that it will encourage the Mubatan government to reconsider their threats and show the Syaran government that Aerick is considered to be rightful Azuralav land by the Azuran and Montemayori government.

Azura and Montemayor has largely remained neutral and the government silent on the events occurring in Arzell and the heightened tensions across the region. Last week the government called for a de-escalation of tensions and a peaceful resolution to the conflict to be arbitrated by the OTN. This deployment marks the first military move that Azura and Montemayor has made since the beginning of the fighting on Arzell and, according to sources, was pushed by the more hard-line generals and admirals.

When asked if Azura and Montemayor would be taking any more military action in the coming days, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense refused to comment.

Federal Election 2018: Azengaard Government Returned with Increased Majority

Klara Tharengaard, Political Correspondent
6 March 2018

Norenstal- Despite analysts predicting a close race, Chancellor Azengaard was able to breathe a sigh of relief tonight after his grand left-wing coalition, comprised of his Liberal Party, National Labor, and the Greens, managed to not only hold onto its parliamentary majority, but increase it to a near super majority, falling just twenty seats short of an elusive 2/3 majority in the Chamber of Representatives. The three parties combined won a total of 314 seats in the 5 March election, all but guaranteeing four more years of stable government. Opposition Leader Thorbjørn Gundersen's Conservative Party suffered one of the worst electoral results in its history, falling under 20% of the national popular vote for the first time since the disastrous 1959 Federal Election. The poor showing marks the third straight election in which the Conservatives have lost seats.

Shortly after physical polling locations and online voting closed at midnight, results began filtering in from precincts around the country. Early results immediately spelled trouble for the Conservatives, who failed to make the necessary gains in the southern states of Vassengård and Norvia and even faced losses in traditional strongholds in rural Banderhus. This, combined with high turnout in the heavily leftist cities of Abenvard, Tybenhoth, Darzenbrom, and Gothendral hampered Gundersen's designs on the chancellorship. The Federal Electoral Commission certified the final results at 2:18 am. An excerpt of the official report can be found below:

The Chancellor met with Speaker Tor Henriksen shortly after results were certified to inform him that the existing coalition government would be renewed. A vote to nominate Azengaard for a second term as chancellor will be held at the opening of Parliament on Wednesday, followed by his formal appointment and swearing in. The Chancellor has indicated that a reshuffle has been agreed to as part of the new coalition deal, but did not give specifics. Sources close to the Chancellor, however, say Azengaard has agreed to cede control of the Finance Ministry to National Labor.

Shortly after the results were announced, Azengaard, National Labor Leader Andreas Støvring, and Greens Leader Margrethe Heldenvar held a joint press conference outside Parliament. Azengaard emphasized the continued unity of the three coalition partners on most major issues and labeled the election results a "resounding rejection of bigotry and xenophobia by the Delkoran people." Støvring highlighted his party's commitment to being a "voice for the voiceless", saying further, "Though we may have our differences, I believe Chancellor Azengaard and his party are pursuing essentially the same goal, and it is for this reason that this coalition continues to be viable." Heldenvar spoke of the need to reaffirm Delkora's status as a "humanitarian nation" and said, "As long as this government is in charge, our country will never turn its back on those in need, whether they are refugees from abroad or our neighbors next door. Delkora will never become a nation of closed minds and closed hearts."

Although Azengaard now has enough seats between his party and National Labor to form a two-way coalition, the Chancellor made it clear early on in the campaign that he intended to keep both of his coalition partners on board, even if it proved to be possible to govern without one of them. "Now more than ever, it is imperative that those among us who continue to be committed to Delkora's progressive values band together in the face of a reactionary movement that would take our country back to the Middle Ages," he said in his keynote address to the Liberal Party National Convention at the start of the campaign season. "That means continuing to partner with our friends in National Labor and the Greens, because we know the things that divide our parties pale in comparison to those that bring us together."

"A turning point for the Conservative Party"

Just blocks away, the night was far more somber at Conservative Party headquarters. Speaking to reporters, Gundersen was defiant in the face of his party’s losses: “Tonight wasn’t the outcome we were hoping for, but the Delkoran people should know this party will continue fighting against the war on our country’s traditional values and identity.”

The election results last night have been interpreted by some as a rejection by voters of the partnership negotiated by Gundersen between his Conservative-Agrarian opposition group and the far-right Alliance, a party accused by some of being openly racist and even neo-fascist. Internal memos leaked from the Conservative and Agrarian Parties suggest that party strategists in both warned leadership early on that such a partnership could alienate their base. Analysts say these fears seem to have been well founded, noting that turnout among core voters in both parties was down in almost every constituency.

“The anti-establishment populism of Alliance resonates somewhat with traditional Agrarian voters, but not so much with traditional Conservatives, who correctly perceive that they are part of the ‘establishment’ Alliance constantly rails against,” observed Dr. Valdric Heldegaard, professor of political science at Abenvard University. “Mr. Gundersen was hoping to attract a new demographic to the Conservative Party by partnering with Alliance—namely, disenfranchised, working class urban voters—but in the process seems to have alienated his base to the point where many of them simply stayed home.”

Within hours of the results being announced, calls from within his own party for Gundersen to resign began to proliferate, starting with MP Grethe Vilstrup, who has been one of the most vocal critics of his tenure as opposition leader. Speaking to reporters at an event in her constituency, she told reporters, “Mr. Gundersen has run the Conservative Party off a cliff and will only continue to tarnish our reputation with voters. For the good of our party, I implore him to resign.” She was joined by Asbjørn Bonde, Conservative first minister of Banderhus, as well as former Chancellor Harald Møller.

The calls for Gundersen's resignation are the culmination of what has become a kind of civil war within the Conservative Party that has pitted a neoliberal wing led by Gundersen, as well as a smaller national conservative faction, against the social liberalism of the so-called “New Conservatives”, who want to take the party in a more centrist direction. “It’s too soon to say, but it’s quite possible this election will prove to be a turning point for the Conservative Party,” Dr. Heldegaard said. “Gundersen's position as party leader has been seriously undermined, not just by losing seats in this election, but also by the fact that the New Conservatives may now have a majority in the party's Chamber of Representatives caucus. If they succeed in ousting Gundersen and taking over other key leadership positions, they will chart the party's course for the foreseeable future."

Agrarian Leader Frans Kjær has also faced calls for his resignation in the face of his party's losses, but has said he does not intend to step down. Gundersen has not yet commented on his future as party leader.

Populist Surge

Besides signaling the fracturing of the Conservative Party, last night’s results have also been seen as a victory for both the far-left and far-right. Alliance experienced its best election result since its founding, falling just short of 4% of the national vote and securing 19 seats, an increase of seven from the last election. Party leader Elsa Tolstrup hailed the results as signaling a “new era” for her party. Addressing a rally in downtown Norenstal, she told supporters, “They won’t be able to ignore us any longer. We're here to stay, and we're taking our country back from the traitors who've auctioned it off to the highest bidder.” Analysts have speculated that Gundersen's proposed Conservative-Agrarian-Alliance partnership ended up exclusively benefiting Alliance, whose supporters were energized by the possibility of their party participating in government and as a result turned out to vote in record numbers.

On the opposite side of the ideological spectrum, the election also proved to be a major victory for Radical Front, a far-left party with a council communist platform that runs to the left of National Labor. With a base of support in the industrial cities of coastal Førelskov, the party has steadily gained in popularity in the past two elections. Last night, it more than doubled its seats in Parliament, securing fourteen. Party leader Olbren Brødsgaard called the results a “victory for working class Delkorans.”

Syara and Azurlavai to sign mutual defense pact

The Syaran Sentinel

ZOVAHR - In a sudden reversal of what had been months of tension between the United Republic of Azurlavai and the Commonality of Syara, earlier today Foreign Minister Dubravko Lenković announced that the Commonality and United Republic would enter into a mutual defense pact, cease military buildup and cooperate further on mutual strategic interests.

The declaration comes nearly two years since the United Republic seized control of the Queendom of Aerick, what had been a sovereign nation of roughly 6 million inhabitants. The invasion of subsequent occupation saw the island became a territory of the United Republic; and drew a fury of criticism from Zovahr, who labeled the invasion a “blatant imperialist land grab”. The Commonality appealed to the Organization of Tyran States for an official condemnation of the invasion, with no success, prompting Syara to oppose the invasion unilaterally.

What followed was months of rising escalation and a war of words between Syara and Azurlavai, marked by increased movement and deployment of military forces by both sides. In order to stave off potential Syaran aggression, the United Republic initially agreed to draw down it’s forces in order to assure the Commonality further offensive operations were not intended. But the draw down allowed the resurgence of the Sisterhood, a domestic rebel force opposed to Azurlavain occupation of Aerick. Rising levels of violence saw the Commonality insist on the establishment of a joint occupation force, which was met with criticism by the Azurlavain government.

Tensions seemed to rise to the boiling point last summer, when thousands of Syaran forces began gathering in the Zagruvic District (Syaran territory closest to Aerick), and the increase of naval and air forces made a confrontation seem inevitable. Then suddenly an agreement was made, spearheaded by diplomatic efforts by Supreme Chairman Monika Schefer, who agreed to high level talks with the Commonality last summer. The agreement resulted in the partition of Aerick into Eastern and Western halves, with Syara establishing control over the former last autumn, while West Aerick remained under Azurlavain control.

The partition was originally hoped to signal the end to Syaran-Azuralavain confrontation over Aerick, and did for a while appear to hold. Things went south over the past few weeks however. The eruption of the Arzell Crisis appeared to spark further machinations on the island, with rumors of a Syaran troop buildup and Azurlavain military construction efforts sparking fears that the island could once more become the focal point of another conflict.

However, such fears were suddenly extinguished today when the Foreign Minister confirmed that another round of talks had alleviated the tension once again, this time with a more permanent agreement in place; the Commonality and the United Republic are now allies bound by basis of mutual defense. Although not officially commented on by the Syaran Government, reports shortly came in today that thousands of Syaran troops could be seen demobilizing across East Aerick, boarding ships and aircraft bound for the homeland.

The Foreign Minister spoke highly of the importance of negotiations and diplomacy, praising both parties for “finding a peaceful resolution that strengthens both of us”. This development comes just days after Imperator Tyler Holland of Shalum announced that he would seek a ceasefire and peace talks with the High Kingdom of Ossoria, in order to sort of the conflict over the Arzell Islands between the two states. Syara is set to host talks between the two countries within the week, appearing to be on a streak of diplomatic overtures during the administration of Radovan Kostović.

The Commonality and United Republic do not on paper appear to have much reason to align with one another; Azurlavai is a militarist fascist state with a strong warrior tradition, while Syara is a free market paradise where capitalist excess is seen as divine right. The newly established ties between the two states, however, seem to be setting both countries on a new path forward into the future, whatever it may hold.

Mutual Defense Treaty Finalizes Standoff

Image
Though construction has barely started, this missile launch base in souther Aerick will be dismantled as part of the Draupnir Treaty

For some time now, tense relations have existed between the United Republic and the Commonality of Syara. Though the island of Aerick was split by agreement last year, conflict with the capitalist player looked to be inevitable, and military buildup on the island continued with little restraint.

Which is why, faithful readers, I can report what many of you already know; in a surprising turn, Supreme Chairman Schefer and Executive Kostović have stepped away and set aside differences. This strange circumstance has signaled an end to the supposed conflict, and while thousands of troops from both sides remain in Aerick, the vast majority have been stood down, and are currently in the process of redeployment to other theatres.

For now, what is tenatively being called the ‘Draupnir Treaty’ has sealed the shared fate of these two nations, and while much tension still exists and can be seen between military formations en route off the island, for the time being the threat of the Arzell Crisis seems to have finally put the issue of Aerick to rest. The future of this strange relationship is unknown to anyone on any definitive grounds, and there has been no further comment from Supreme Chairman Schefer or her administration.

The Shelter of Our Lord burns as Brannvesen teams fight to put the blaze out

A Liamite town known as Jhundsan was awoken rudely last night by whoops, wild gunfire and the burning orange blaze consuming the town church. As bewildered citizens attempted to work with the Brannvesen to contain the blaze, witnesses reported Aesiric runes and anti-Catholic rhetoric painted on the burning walls, as well as evidence of several volleys of gunfire assaulting the walls. In the morning, damage teams in fire resistant suits sifted through the ruin and found the scorched corpses of two priests, restrained with chains and locked in the confessional. Supreme Chairman Schefer issued a statement, calling the event “monstrous”. A reward of 2,000 centras has been published by the Rad Hus in relation to any information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for this reprehensible act.

New Kenlis restaurant bans Shalumites

March 14, 2018

A sandwich bar in New Kenlis has banned all Shalumite visitors following their decision to help Ossoria in the Arzell Crises.

NEW KENLIS - Earlier this morning, a restaurant called The Bending Joint posted a notice on their restaurant front announcing a new policy: "No Shalumite citizens allowed." Following the Syaran Commonality's organization of the Arzell Crises Summit, Ossorian citizens in Pargasia must 'do their bit to help the Ossorian homeland in protecting its claims in Arzell'. Restaurant owner Lonán Mac Pilib said. He went on to reiterate his rights to express his opinion and economic rights as a business owner.

Netizens and regulars have openly condemned the policy online and has called for other regular to avoid visiting The Bending Joint to resist its efforts of "nationist and racist bigotry". The restaurant also received immediate political attention. The Bending Joint is just right across the street from Gwyn Palace.

The most prominent political attention came from Máirtín Conrad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the Ossoria Pargesia Association, who gave a press conference on the Pargesian delegation in the Arzell Crises Summit. When he was asked about his comments on The Bending Joint's new policy, he declared "Pargesian Ossorians, and on behalf of Ossorian citizens in Pargesia and around the world, will not accept this kind of behavior in 2018." Then he demanded that they resolve this within the next 12 hours or "they (The Bending Joint) have officially bended my (Conrad) stomach." Later, he was asked on what he will exactly do if they did not act. The Minister threatened to "have a word" with Patrick Baxter, Minister of Tax, on The Bending Joint's business permit. President Kalinin Officially Announces Resignation in Favour of Premier Dobreva

Image
The Domsovyetov, house of Parliament

VISEGRAD - The announcement of the appointment of Ekaterina Dobreva three months ago came as a surprise to many, particularly in the absence of a formal resignation generally issued by the Office of the President, with concerns being the President's reported health issues and several visits from his personal doctor in the months since Dobreva's appointment. The lack of transparency from the administration as to the President's status outside of his public appearances and meetings with parliamentary committees has been criticised, though the lack of public concern from the Duma as to the President's status softened public concerns of his health. Regardless, the appointment of Dobreva while the President was still in office was taken as a sign of changing tides, particularly as the National Civic Front has taken the majority of seats in Parliament over the President's own Liberal faction. It was expected that in the fall elections, MP Sergey Datcu would be elected to the Presidency as faction leader. With Dobreva's appointment, leadership of the NCF was poised to be placed on her hands pending Kalinin's decision to resign. Today, the long-rumoured resignation has become a reality as the President spoke in front of the Duma.

"It is with great sense of duty that I write this. Through the past two decades I have worked with the blessing of this nation, my colleagues, and my family to guide us on a course of prosperity. It is because of this that I recognise and understand the immense focus, responsibility, and dedication that my position deserves. It is with a heavy hand that I say that despite my best efforts to persevere through the past several months, I am unable to carry out my duties with the conviction and focus required of me, and that I have given previously. To my colleagues, my friends, and my family who have given me their support in whatever path I choose to take, I will be eternally grateful. It is without regret that I resign my office, as I know that it is in the bests interests of the nation.

Therefore, effective within the hour of the end of this congregation of this Parliament, all of my duties and responsibilities will be turned over to Ekaterina Dmitriyevna Dobreva, who has been appointed my my successor by my endorsement and confirmation our Sovet and who has faithfully served me with incredible dedication and skill for years.

I leave my office with gratitude, rather than regret, for the privilege of serving this nation for the past twenty-four years. I am overjoyed at having been able to oversee a time of peace and prosperity for our country. The profound weight of the responsibility of this office on my shoulders is one that I would have never traded for any other job in the world. It is a weight that I hope all Acreans recognise, and that the understanding and cooperation of the Acrean people will be given unequivocally to Premier Dobreva as I pass this weight on to her. We have faced many challenges before, and we will undoubtedly face many ahead. The legacy of prosperity and greatness we have built is something that we will not just maintain, but expand as we have been for years. I have done my best to take this mantle from my predecessor to pass it on to my successor.

I love our nation and shall even after I have passed, and will always look with immense pride on the honour I have had to serve it. So long as I can, I will continue in this spirit to aid it in every way I can. Thank you all.

Dobreva's appointment has numerous political implications for both Parliament and, in particular, the NCF. With the Premier's appointment, fall elections which would potentially alter the makeup of Parliament and ultimately change the President will no longer take place, given the Premier's political affiliations as a recognised member of the NCF. The potential political aspirations of the NCF's senior leadership will most likely be ground to a halt after Premier Dobreva takes the reins of the party as she is unlikely to heavily alter the makeup of the current Sovet or of Kalinin's cabinet. The move also marks Dobreva, originally the second-youngest member of the Duma following her confirmation as a member of the Sovet in 2010, as the youngest Premier in Acrean history, as well as the third Premier overall. She is the youngest head of state of Acrea, and the second female head of the Soviet Party.

Memories announces cooperation with Cloudverse

March 19, 2018

The Gibson Brothers of Memories Co. announce major cooperation with social media giant Sieu Phuong Technologies.

Image
Logan and Tyler Gibson: Memories Co.

NEW STRADE - A New Deal for Memories Corporation: Internet billionaires Logan and Tyler Gibson, the minds and makers of rising social network site Memories based in New Strade, revealed an agreement for cooperation with the world's leading pioneers in social media Sieu Phuong Technologies, the company behind the most popular social network Cloudverse. This has just been announced in a press statement released this morning by Memories Co. PR department in Memories and their official website.

"This cooperation will allow users, in Memories and Cloudverse, to use an online directory and a microblogging service with interconnected systems. The latter being something that B-Board Inc. has failed to provide and has convinced us and our team to consider Cloudverse for the perfect combination of social media services." The statement read. "To allow Memories reach a wider audience and provide Cloudverse users access to a proper platform for more social internet interaction." The statement continued.

'B-Board' in the statement referred to the fall of Buzzboard Co. in 2016 when usership in Buzzboard, which offered similar but faster services than Cloudverse, rapidly declined due to fatal bugs that crippled the site from use. This made Buzzboard users move to competitor Cloudverse.

Both Buzzboard in 2012 and its reincarnation B-Board in 2016, with the personal involvement of its creator Jane Odeo, have offered cooperation to Memories. Both involved months of discussion but no deal has ever been reached. (Bill Wade)

Anti-Corporate Corruption Measures Bill Deferred as Prime Minister Sees "No Compatible Solution"

Author: Lý Trọng Nghĩa
Published: 3 May 2018
Last Edited: 9 Days Ago

Today, it has been announced that the Anti-Corporate Corruption Measures Bill has been deferred by Parliament after Prime Minister Han has, in a press conference, expressed that she saw "no compatible solution to an otherwise potentially beneficial legislation."

The bill, which has been criticized by a significant number of members from the Nationalist, Yellow Dragon, Libertarian Union, and Natechun Parties for its set of "illicit and nonrestrictive" surveillance policies, "strict" corporate regulations, and "harsh" punishments at its first presentation, has been reviewed again and again by its authors and editors for a period of almost eight months. Although given such opportunities multiple times, the bill was filibustered by members of the aforementioned parties on the same cause once it was presented to the floor for three more times. Seeing that no more formidable policies could replace the ones that have been prime targets for rebuttals and continuous objections, despite some policies being "intuitive to the bill's purpose," the Prime Minister decided that it needs to be delayed from editing and future presentations.

On the side supporting the bill, Natechun MP and one of the authors and editors of the bill Úc Nguyên Khôi makes this statement after the press conference:

"There is just no way that we'll be able to get this past, given the current situation on the floor. To be honest, I am getting tired of having to revise and present it over and over again just to experience long hours of them delaying the bill's final decision and review most of the time. And to be honest, sometimes, I wonder if this bill's going to do any good at all."

On the other side, Nationalist MP Ngư Khắc Tuấn makes this remark:

"I really don't think what they've presented will ever work properly, despite the bill containing good measures. It's really a good thing that the Prime Minister has called for a suspension of the bill's presentation and revision, for I think those authors need to get a break from stressing out on this for long; as for some of them, they really need to reflect on how corporations function significantly for the economy before they appeal for revision."

Families of the victims of the Haigia blast reacted calmly toward the Prime Minister's decision, but some of them began to express doubts about her intention on doing so. In the words of one family:

"I know that there should be breaks from hard work, but if we don't get our justice soon enough, there will be more disasters like the blast that will happen almost frequently. I'm hoping that the Prime Minister will be able to do something about it in the future, but I'm starting to get uneasy at how she's handling this," says Thạch Tường Cương, father of a son who owned a restaurant near the blast area that died of his wounds.

The bill maybe resurrected again once the Prime Minister has officially decided to open it up for further revising. As of now, we can only wait for a benefit of this nation to come in a matter of time.

KSA Car Bomb Destroys Civic Patrol Station!

The streets of Tritonsberg were rocked by a vicious blast yesterday as a civilian car blew past the outer gates and charged up the steps of a Civic Patrol station. It then detonated on impact at the front doors. The building itself was not compromised due to reinforced bracers, but considerable damage was still done, and the casualties are telling. Seven soldiers were killed, sixteen badly wounded as they were rushed to the nearest hospital. Four civilians were killed, nine wounded as well in the blast.

An hour after the strike, a man named Pavel Adamek was online, claiming the attack on behalf of the left-wing radical group, the Kollective Syndaclists of Azurlavai. Kollective fighters and protestors have been responsible for a series of stunts this past year after the raid on their remote home base, but this is quite possibly their most ambitious strike yet.

Adamek, a known secondary commander of the Kollective before the strike that killed their leadership, has confirmed that he has taken control of the KSA, and is leading them to ‘a future where we will eventually be victorious’ as Adamek claims.

According to Civic Patrol commander Major Anton Torvald of Tritonsberg, the KSA are “cowardly revolutionaries, who think the way to social reform is to set off bombs in the street and kill the people they say they’re trying to convince!” Regardless of the government’s claims, it is clear the KSA’s popularity is on the rise. Already, at least 7 million people worldwide are a part of its online community, and the number of protests and violent actions has been nationwide, indicating their actual ranks must rack up into the hundreds at least. Love them or hate them, it’s clear the left-wing is on the rise.

Revenant Granted Official Pardon

The Revenant is an ultra right-wing faction from the days after the People’s Republic collapsed, remnants of the former hardline expansionist government who went into seclusion twenty years ago. In that time, they’ve occupied secretive government facilities (having long destroyed the records for these bases) and have lobbied several moves in the Assembly through political manipulation. But with war on the horizon and left-wing radicals popping up across the nation, the Council finally came to the press with the news that they have extended a pardon to these former Haer officers and political backers. Surprisingly, they have accepted.

The process was formalized inside the Rad Hus itself, where noted High Kommandant of the Revenant Mikael Harildson formally acknowledge his surrender. The deal, as far as we have been informed, involves the Revenant surrendering all manpower, material, sites and information into URA military jurisdiction. Several officers with valuable intel and experience in battle, have been reinstated to active service, though thoroughly demoted. No Revenant officer is allowed to speak to each other again, and all Revenant fighters have been enlisted for a final tour of service.

Many have questioned the wisdom of the action in allowing such militant opposition back into the fold, though as Monika Schefer put it to our reporters "their war is over. Their fight, however they saw it, was always for their nation. Now that a new enemy has come to the fore, they've put their love of country first. And I, for one, understand that."

The surrender was formalized just before Supreme Chairman Schefer boarded her flight, heading to Syara for the Arzell Peace Summit, but already the new collection of senior Revenant commanders have been reintegrated into the URA military, their expertise a desperate commodity in these trying times. How long such a pardon will keep them safe, only time will tell. But one way or another, uncomfortable questions have been laid to rest, and tense conflicts set aside in the interest of fighting a mutual foe. We should all hope this peace lasts.

Resource Scarcity Brings Revolts

It’s no secret that Azurlavai has long been an industrial power, and significant means have gone into the hunt for more resources to keep that industry fed. Both the warmachine and the civilian way of life have demanded ever more resources to maintain. The numerous government changes and isolationist stance have not helped foreign trader, but that has translated into a pride in self-sufficiency.

Today, the United Republic stands at one-hundred and twenty-five million souls, the highest our population has ever been. To top it off, combine that with one of the largest militaries in the world and an economy relying mostly on industrial exports. Economic experts in both the private sector and the government have known that one day, we would hit a zenith where it would become far too expensive to rely on our own resources to keep afloat. Unfortunately, that day may have already come. We’ve all seen the news reports about far-left attacks and increasing riots. Last week, a coal miner strike actually required government forces to be called in and put down. We may have actually reached the point where we cannot rely on our own means of production to satisfy our needs.

Consider Kraken Industrial’s new oil platforms that are currently under construction; for the massive (and classified) cost of getting these platforms online in the next few months, oil prices are predicted to spike as much as a centra and fifty pence a gallon, optimistically. Industrial production has reached the point where surplus might actually begin to result in slashed economic flow and the shutdown of factories and industries we cannot afford to lose.

Simply put, the crunch is on. And we must turn to foreign markets before things spiral out of control. Wider scale imports have already helped boost the economy in several areas such as the electronics market, and exporting to nations at fair price has boosted the arms and steel industry to titans in the URA. A reasonable balance must be found for other vital areas of the economy if Azurlavai is going to maintain the growth we’ve been seeing over the past three years. However, the fear of capitalist exploitation has almost paralyzed the free market, to the point where even the reasonable compromise of market socialism has become almost taboo to discuss. But with the recent ceasefire with the Commonality of Syara, perhaps we can now let go of our previous fears and approach the subject by integrating with the largest free market system in the region.

The difference between market socialism and capitalist dominance is separated by a thin line, dictated by the government. And as we have seen time and time again, Schefer’s administration is continually striving to put the people and country ahead of all else. If we place more trust in the representatives of the Assembly, we can look at these new easing of strictures on private property as a way to finally marry authoritarian centrism with free market enterprise and enter a period of growth not seen since the extreme measures the fascist regime took, without the horrifying side effects.

Religious Unrest in Southern Maldoria
Image

Bruhl- Since the Great War came to a close over seventy years ago, the citizens of the ‘Liamite Military Administrative Zone’ have lived under the oversight of an Imperial garrison and a margrave appointed by the nation’s lower and upper houses. Despite lobbying by groups of both sides of the border for the territory to be repatriated to its original owners, there has been little headway on the matter. It is something that the locals have taken into their own hands on numerous occasion, but the most recent incident is a disturbing reminder of just how far religious and nationalist separatists are willing to go in order to further their movements.

In the township of Bruhl, twenty kilometers north of the Azurlavain border, one of the most violent occurrences to date took place late last night. At approximately midnight, communications in and out of the city fell silent. Given the area’s poorly developed infrastructure, which is sometimes prone to power outages, nothing was considered to be amiss. It wasn’t until several local residents reached the local garrison that the first accounts were reported.

Arriving in the small town, Imperial troops were greeted by the sight of the still smoking ruins of what had once been the local church. While the parishioners had been spared, the same could not be said for the local priests. The two, who had been serving in the area for nearly a decade, were found dead against the wall of a nearby business. They had been sacrificed like animals, and the word Jotnar had been written above them in their own blood. While the perpetrators of this heinous act are unknown, the method of sacrifice has been documented on several occasions before by groups that follow Seiðrism - the primary faith of Azurlavai.

In response to the incident, Internal Security has raised its alert level around Bruhl. Furthermore, the armed forces has deployed several infantry and support companies to deter any further events of this nature.

The Lunar Eclipse of 2018 and the Long-Awaited Ritual

Image
The eclipse as seen from Thiên Đại

At this hour, the longest lunar eclipse of the century is now taking place, and a lot of people have taken the time and rest to observe it from any location suitable. The majority of these people, however, are not your regular populace, but Haimeists observing an event and its ritual revolving around this captivating spectacle.

For Haimeists, this event is termed Đêm Cam, which literally translates to "Orange Night." This commemorates the visit of Mộng Diễm, the Mother Goddess of Night and the Underworld, on this earth and the silent outpouring of grief and frustration. During the night on which the eclipse is visible, Haimeists can celebrate the event anywhere as long as they have a little altars in place.

The ritual for the Đêm Cam, which is named the Kháng Hòa Bảo Mẹ involves an abundance of material and chants. The material consists of incense, incense sticks, gongs, and lanterns colored red, orange, and yellow, all of which helps the Mother Goddess listen to the prayers the practitioners enunciated mentally to her and the other gods and goddesses associated with her. The set of chants comprises of hymns (12, 13, and 18) and calls taken from the Hymns of Praise and Worship for Mộng Diễm, and they are to be iterated for a multitude of times mostly by the priest or priestess. When feeling contented, he or she will request the shaman(s) to chant loudly the call for her to grant the people inner peace and protection from any demons that would harm them both mentally and physically. Then, as the eclipse begins to subside, the final chants and farewells are said to greet Mộng Diễm goodbye by the priests, priestesses, shamans, and those participating in the ritual, and they are to leave whenever they wish after the priests and priestesses mark the end of the event by reciting Hymn 22.

From this event, let us hope that the Mother Goddess herself protects us all from not just demons, but also from whatever misfortunes that we might encounter in the future. May the light of the red moon shine upon us all.

Cryptic Spooks: Plague-Doctor Man Releases Another Eerily Arcane Video

Image
Screenshot of the Plague-Doctor Man from the video AE3-XC6B-41-M

Remember that mysterious and foreboding video where a person wearing a plague doctor mask and black robe was standing and holding his gloved right hand up while that ear-piercing, sickening sound was playing? Today, this enigma has come out again.

On Mangxoai, a channel that claims to be the original creator of the video AE3-XC6B-41-M, PinheYuDAnhog, has published another video starring the same person, entitled 44NH39-20ẤP.

In the video, the masked man is standing in what seems to be an abandoned apartment. Like the infamous video, it is shot in a black and white tint. In the first moments of the video, a text in binary is presented while the distorted electronic sounds play in the background, somewhat in a similar implementation in AE3. Moments after, he raises his hand again, revealing the light source at the center of the palm, blinking in Morse Code. Afterwards, he takes out a gun resembling a TEC-9 and shoots at a map of what looks like to be the island of Arzell. During this sequence, the background sounds intensify, and it is best for viewers to take their headphones at this duration and the next. After shooting at the map, the person stands in front of the camera again and encrypted text of an unknown cipher method is displayed; still, the loud background sounds are kept consistent, albeit at one point, there is a deep sound that compares to that of an explosion. Subsequently, the sounds stop and the man raises both of hands while a scrambled text of [Quenminese] words is displayed in a veil of ASCII characters to make it seem enigmatic, and they flash at different locations as the ear-piercing background sounds play once again; those viewing with epilepsy, be warned about this part. The video then fades out to black, ending with a block of text saying: "Have you got them noted?"

That being said, is this video another authentic message of dread and trepidation, or merely just another hoax or promotional display? We will eventually know soon enough.

To see the full video, head to this link: https://www.mangxoai.qm/v/Hm8425AZdi21sA0. To those that have the incentive to solve these encrypted message or express an opinion on the matter, please refer to the page on sending letters to the editor.

The Case of Video 44NH39-20ẤP

Image

To the Editor:
Re "Cryptic Spooks: Plague-Doctor Man Releases Another Eerily Arcane Video" (8 Oct. 2018): To the creator, I wanna commend you for your extraordinary talent in the production of this video. However, this is nothing more than another art project. We've seen this with AE3 and with NEB4. What makes this different?

Phạm Quang Tuấn
Ðức Siêu, Quenmin

To the Editor:
Re "Cryptic Spooks: Plague-Doctor Man Releases Another Eerily Arcane Video" (8 Oct. 2018): Just another scary video for horror fans to admire. Nothing more.

And why the loud noises? Is that really necessary?

Tô Quyết Thắng
Bãi Biển Ngao, Quenmin

To the Editor:
Re "Cryptic Spooks: Plague-Doctor Man Releases Another Eerily Arcane Video" (8 Oct. 2018): Very interesting, despite its threatening tone, like in the other videos. One thing that sets me off, though, is the scene where the map of Arzell is shot up. What is he trying to get at there? Is he actually a terrorist or just doing this for show?

And damn, those noises.

Trầm Cẩm Linh
Nam Hưng, Quenmin

To the Editor:
My friends and I have begun to decipher the codes and hidden meanings within the video. Will provide you with whatever we have two days from now.

Lý Xuân Thuyết

To the Editor:
I almost got epilepsy when watching this. Anyways, while this video never stops to bring interest into PinheYuDAnhog, I highly doubt that the man in this video would actually commit a lethal plot to shock the world. I mean, this is just pure art. With all these fancy gimmicks like we've seen in his previous two videos, this looks like it could be a trailer for some sci-fi or thriller movie. I am not totally convinced.

Quang Ngọc Ẩn
Huu Toàn, Quenmin

To the Editor:
Re "Cryptic Spooks: Plague-Doctor Man Releases Another Eerily Arcane Video" (8 Oct. 2018): Whether this is authentically another threat or not, this is quite unsettling. Sure, it has aspects that makes this look like your typical spy film, but what if this guy's for real? What if he's not pulling off jokes all along?

Đỗ Trung Hiếu
Bà Tàu, Quenmin

To the Editor:
This is made for the nerds to have fun with. Nothing frightening about it. I never felt the slightest bit of dread on my skin. But, it's quite interesting as well, no doubt about it. And I might use this for help in my Combinatorics class.

Long-Awaited Thuận Thiên Comet and the Celebration of Serenity Arrives

Image
Photograph of the Comet from an Individual in Lào Xuyên; Taken 11:40 PM

After 51 years, the time has come for this lovely and ethereal celestial object to allure the Quenminese people once again. With its bright tip and its long tail becoming ever more spectral in distance, it's as if it were a spirit from the heavens coming to visit us, yet this is quite an understatement.

For an epoch spanning more than a millennium, this radiant object in the night sky has been attributed with the Haimeist deity Liễu Nguyệt, the goddess of sailing, guidance, and the deceased, and this particular comet is a representation of her heavenly boat sailing in the night sky, carrying an infinite amount of deceased souls willing to visit their descendants and loved ones again. Rituals were performed to welcome the arrival of this divine vessel, and to thank the goddess for the opportunity of letting the souls of the deceased visit.

The comet and celebration's duration is expected to end on December 25, but at this time, it does not stop everyone from smiling and gazing at this captivating object for hours on end.

Since word of the comet's approaching arrival has hit the ears of NACOSDI personnel, it has always been a long and ambitious aspiration in studying the famed comet close up. Now, that dream has been fulfilled, and with utmost diligence did it succeed with great expectations.

The launch was delayed until the last day of celebrations, in honor of the concurrent festival. At that time, NACOSDI dismissed their employees to be with their families and friends, so to take time off work.

Now, with the rocket launch, NACOSDI was able to rejoice at this achievement, and hopefully to discover new insights into this celestial vessel itself.

The Eltykan Express

Voters vote to keep Ossorian base
Ánesa Nyétel ● 14 May 2019 ● 12:00

Eltykanaises have voted against demanding the closure of the Royal Ossorian Navy base in yesterday's referendum.

According to Elections Gylias' results, released this morning, 220.328 voters participated, representing a turnout of 95,4%. 103.885 voters voted in favour of the closure, and 116.443 against, representing a 47,2% – 52,9% margin.

The initiative to close the RON base was mainly the result of the Arzell crisis, which saw the base put on high alert for the first time since 1986. Analysts described the referendum as a backlash against the disruption caused by the alert.

Compared to the last referendum on closing the base, which failed by a 20% margin in 1994, the much narrower result today suggests more voters felt apprehensive about the RON's presence in Eltykan during the recent fighting with Shalum.

Mayor Emar Ratese (HP), who campaigned for keeping the base open, stated during a press conference: "I feel relieved that our residents have not recklessly lashed out in anger at an ally during a difficult time."

In response to questions, they said that they understood voters' discontent: "For many of us, the last time in living memory we've witnessed the Ossorian navy on full alert was 1986. Clearly, it's a distressing memory, and I don't blame those who've had doubts about whether our city should have a naval base anymore."

Emar announced that consultations will be organised between the RON personnel and Eltykan residents to investigate and address specific objections. They suggested that RON personnel be invited to communal assemblies to "reflect on our next steps together".

Treaty Signed to end Arzell Crisis

The foreign ministries of the High Kingdom of Ossoria and the Empire of Shalum have issued a joint announcement that a settlement has been reached to end the three-month standoff in Arzell.

According to the statement, the terms both states have agreed to are:
- No territorial concessions are being made by either side.
- Reparations for physical damages are to be paid by Shalum to Ossoria.
- A hotline is to be established between Kenlis and Aragon for clear communications in future times of crisis.
- A 15-kilometer-wide demilitarized zone is to be established on the border; this zone is to extend 5 km into Ossorian territory and 10 km into Shalumite territory.
- The demilitarized zone extends into the sea on either side of Arzell and terminates where the limit of the territorial waters is reached.
- All existing military infrastructure inside the demilitarized zone is to be dismantled within six months by unarmed personnel under international observation.

The treaty was signed at Revjakoyia Estate, in the town of Corchia in the Commonality of Syara. The treaty is expected to pass the Dáil with the support of the leadership of the Crown Nationalists and Centrists.

CARDINAL AG LAUNCHES THE TERRATON INITIATIVE
by Viliberto Caro

KEY POINTS
  • Cardinal Ag launched the Terraton Initiative on Wednesday aimed at utilizing agricultural soil for carbon sequestration.
  • As part of this initiative, Cardinal plans to create Cardinal Carbon, a marketplace aimed at providing growers with financial incentives to utilize regenerative agricultural practices that reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
  • Cardinal CEO Rachel Acarigi states the long term plan is to capture 1 trillion metric tons (a teraton) of carbon worldwide.

Image
Cesena, Sarissita -- Cardinal Agriculture, a Cesena-based agricultural company that uses natural microbiology to revolutionize farming, has announced an ambitious program in an attempt to tackle worldwide climate change. Launched on Wednesday during the company's first annual Beneficial Ag Conference, the Initiative aims to utilize farmland to capture 1 trillion metric tons of carbon dioxide through the implementation of its new Cardinal Carbon Program (a global marketplace aimed at providing farmers incentives to utilize regenerative agricultural practices).

It is theorized that capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide through agricultural soil will help to restore soil health while also combating increasing carbon levels. Many of the board members of Cardinal have stated that this initiative aims to bring the level of CO2 in the atmosphere down to levels similar to those prior to the Industrial Revolution.

Agricultural farming today is one of the largest contributors of CO2 into the atmosphere (approximately 25% - 35%), more than all modes of transportation in the world combined. The ongoing trend of increasing CO2 has directly resulted in extreme changes in weather which has significantly reduced crop yields and made livestock more vulnerable to disease. Aside from the threat of global warming, these issues also threaten the global food supply which has grown critical in light of a quickly growing global population.

"The most hopeful solution I know of to address the ongoing issue of climate change is to harness the vast potential of agriculture," states Cardinal's CEO Rachel Acarigi. "The technology and knowledge of regenerative agriculture is here. It's just a matter of utilizing it to make a difference."

Regenerative farming includes minimal tillage of soil, cover cropping, crop rotation, utilizing less chemicals and fertilizers, as well as livestock grazing. All of these practices are meant to increase soil water retention and carbon content. Soil plays a key role in the carbon cycle by taking in carbon from dead plant matter. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere via photosynthesis and eventually pass carbon into the ground when dead roots and leaves decompose.

Cardinal Carbon
As part of their push to launch the initiative, Cardinal is planning to launch Cardinal Carbon. In partnership with several international organizations, Cardinal plans to use its digital agronomy capabilities and advanced software imaging to analyze and measure soil carbon sequestration and on-farm emissions. It also plans to launch the largest study of soil carbon on record. This study will include tens of thousands of participants followed for a decade or more to quantify agricultural practices best suited for carbon sequestration and, thereby, understand the impact of these aforementioned practices on profitability and crop nutrition. Cardinal intends for the gathered data to be open-source and available for other research institutions.

Cardinal will first market the initiative to its current 10,000 grower customers worldwide through its established account managers and agronomists. The hope is that the effort will incentivize and encourage more innovation in sustainable farming practices and encourage all parties in the food industry -- from food companies to retailers -- to align with regenerative business practices. This effort comes at a time where many companies are seeking new ways to become carbon neutral.

One of the first companies on board is Syaran-based Todevski's Brewery which has agreed to purchase over 2 million bushels of Cardinal sustainable rice. Farmers that have been contracted to produce Cardinal rice will reduce water and nitrogen use by nearly 10% and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Executive Kostović enters election season with cautious optimism

The Zovahr Sentinel

Image

ZOVAHR – The run up to Syara’s elections season in 2020 has already seen a slew of advertisements across all forms of media as Syaran Senators prepare to defend or gain their posts within the National Assembly. But as the country prepares for another battleground across the Realm, Syara’s Executive Radovan Kostović finds himself also preparing for another fight to remain his party’s representation in the Office of the Executive. At a rally this weekend he spoke openly of the accomplishments of his pro-Warden Union Party, urging voters to continue to support the “progress we have collectively made both abroad and on the homefront”.

Kostović has valid reasons to be cautiously optimistic for his chances to be re-elected. As of this writing the majority of Syara’s populace approves of the Executive (53% approve, 30% disapprove, 17% neutral), a factoid that makes an inter-party replacement of Kostović seem unlikely and unwise. Although he avoided directly mentioning it at the rally in Zovahr, Kostović does have a few accomplishments to rest his laurels on. In 2018 he successfully negotiated the Arzell Crisis, earning him international recognition for his efforts. In one of his first acts as Executive he successfully mended relations with Azurlavai that had been hampered by the invasion of Aerick. His apparently close and productive working relationship with Supreme Chancellor Monika Schefer has significantly improved Syaran-Azzie ties.

Domestically Kostović has maintained his Zobethos fundamentalist edge, something that has sat well with the Chosen Children of Mother Gaia. Kostović’s continued work with youth groups and public developmental projects has also yielded some impressive gains, and remains one of the corner stones of his domestic policy. Kostović has already stated his intention to focus on infrastructure and social services over the next four years, aiming to upgrade and modernize Syara’s rail and telecommunications infrastructure, as well as streamline the social aid programs that have been under fire in recent years for their perceived inefficiency and inadequacy. Kostovic has gone on the record indicating he wants to continue to alleviate the burden on Syara’s working class, a move certainly designed to appeal to rural and urban poor voters.

But not all the signs for Kostović and his Union Party are rosy. Kostović has tried to float his foreign policy as his biggest success but it hasn’t always been received well. His announcement in 2018 of a new trade agreement with Ruvelka, the first of its kind since the Zemplen War, was met with resounding criticism from many, including Warden Hardliners and nationalists within his own party. Kostović has argued that normalizing relations with Ruvelka is the only hope for establishing long lasting peace in north-west Siduri. But many Syarans did not approve of the agreement, and opposition to it remains high even among the Wardens.

Complicating matters worse is Syara’s tiptoeing around the Commonwealth of Sovereign Nations. Kostović oversaw Syara’s entry into the organization as an observer state, not full membership, but some see further Syaran involvement in the organization as a bad sign; indicative that Syara might find itself entangled in more foreign problems. Not helping matters is the continued instability in Azurlavai that make the Executive comments about the country being Syara’s “closest ally and number one strategic partner” ring less inspiring and more concerning. The truth is there is a strong possibility of Azurlavai descending into civil war, and it’s highly unlikely Syara will be able to avoid involvement.

Defending Syara’s closest ally is hardly a cause that will splinter Syara’s populace, but less than a decade removed from a million plus Syaran casualties in the Divide War, it’s hard to imagine a strong desire to get involved in another potentially costly and devastating conflict, even if it isn’t being fought on Syaran soil. Kostović, a Zemplen War veteran himself, has insisted that peace is the only feasible option going forward, but he nevertheless caved to hard liners in his party with regards to defense spending. Syara’s defense budget totaled more than 170 billion Drachma ($87 billion), behind only Acrea, Ossoria, and Cacerta. Under his leadership the Syaran Commonality Armed Forces have ballooned in size; with nearly 4 million men under arms Syara boasts the largest military on the planet, a fact at odds with Kostović’s push for peace.

Kostović has maintained the SCAF remains purely a defensive force, an act that he has tried to maintain based on the fact that Syara still possesses no strategic bombers, long range ballistic missiles, and has not produced another aircraft carrier or expanded its nuclear submarine fleet. But defense spending has been a major strain on Syara’s budget, and it’s hard to see Syara balancing Kostović’s emphasis on domestic and defense spending without radically restructuring the current expense plan, or raising new funds.

Not helping matters is rumors of expected economic downturn to mark off the new decade. Syaran economists have stressed they don’t see a disaster on the horizon, but Azurlavai’s continued instability can only spell trouble for Syara’s largest trading partner, and in turn lead to problems domestically. GDP is expected to reach only 1.40% for Q1, and expectations are that it won’t rise above 2% for FY2020 as Syara comes off a small boom that lasted from 2017-2018.
The mixed nature of Kostović’s endeavors haven’t done much to help his popularity. While still positive, the last few months have seen his approval rating steadily decline, from 57% in September to 53% in December. His disapproval rating has only increased by 2%, which is good on some levels, but growing apathy about the Executive isn’t exactly welcome news either. The Wardens have been on the backheel for the past two years, still recovering from a series of elections that haven’t played well to their party.

2017 saw elections in Makedon hand over virtually the entire realm to the opposing National Front. 2018 Realm elections saw over half of Galania go the same way. The Union Party still holds sway over Scitaria and the Clans, but if recent elections are any indication than the Wardens are almost sure to lose seats in the Senate. A majority is still likely, but not assured. Party unity has been a major issue for the Union the past few years. Kostović is in an unenviable position; he must balance Warden ideals of faith and a strong central government against an increasingly hardline wing of his own Party, members whom have made it clear they don’t but into the Executive’s propositions for Ruvelkan reconciliation.

Still, Kostović has his advantages. Two-thirds of Syarans see him either positively or in a neutral light. He has the advantage of being an incumbent, and while the economy isn’t slated for a great entry into the decade, it remains stable. While some within his party had voiced their displeasure, there’s no sign of any serious movement to replace Kostović. He remains a popular, likeable choice; a pious veteran who avoids the extremes and clearly cares for the common Syaran. If he can keep his ship stable and afloat, there’s a very good chance that he will find himself taking the Oath of Ascension on the Summer Solstice.

The Daily Standard

No alignment gains majority in Chamber of Deputies; negotiations among blocs begin
24 January 2020

The federal election results have been released by Elections Gylias. No pre-existing coalition or agreement has obtained a majority in the Chamber of Deputies. Negotiations have begun to determine the next government.

Among the electoral blocs, the Progressive Alliance and Liberal Union have experienced declines in first preference votes and seat losses, while the National Bloc and Centre Group have gained first preference votes and seats. The National Bloc has overtaken the Progressive Alliance for a plurality. The Union for Freedom and Prosperity has lost two seats, remaining the smallest bloc.

Significant shifts have occurred within the non-inscrit bloc, whose overall seat count remains broadly unchanged. Anarchist parties have made notable gains.

Since neither the incumbent PA–LU–IRAM coalition nor the opposition NB–CG coalition holds a majority by itself, the formation of the next government will depend significantly on the non-inscrits, particularly independents and anarchist parties. After an election campaign where foreign policy unexpectedly became a key issue, the anarchist parties have demanded support for the KSA in Æsthurlavaj's civil war as a condition for backing the next government.

Final results from Election Gylias

Turnout: 95,2%

__ NB: 87 deputies (19,7% FPV)
__ PA: 85 deputies (19,4% FPV)
__ CG: 81 deputies (15,9% FPV)
__ LU: 72 deputies (14,6% FPV)
__ UFP: 2 deputies (0,3% FPV)
__ NI: 173 deputies (30,1% FPV)

Prime Minister Lena Haidynraix (CNP-NB) and
Deputy Prime Minister Kaija Kailajärvi (RCP-CG)
The 13th Parliament, sworn in today, has approved a new coalition government, foresit by Prime Minister Lena Haidynraix.

On the first vote, the Toni Vallas government lost the motion of confidence by 232-232, with multiple
non-inscrits abstaining. President Ravy Egiði then asked opposition foresitter Lena to form a government. The second vote saw several of those voting in favour of the opposition, giving Lena a majority.

The new government then took the affirmation of office after its composition was approved. It is a coalition of the NB, CG, UNR, and IRAM. Lena becomes the first NB Prime Minister since the Liberation War. CG foresitter Kaija Kailajärvi (Kaiá Kailaiérvi) is appointed Deputy Prime Minister.

As the coalition itself is a minority, the government will rely on confidence from the FVU, PP-CM, RFS,
and UI, primarily on matters of foreign policy. Lena has said the government would also seek support
from the GP on environmental policy.

The Chamber of Deputies then suspended its session for the weekend.

Best of the 2020 Dresden Auto Show: what’s new, high tech, and practical
Image

By Nathan Schieffer - 2/xx/2020

The Dresden Auto Show kicked off earlier this week and has yet to disappoint. It has always been known as the first big show for the newest that the Imperial automotive market has to offer. Jobsite and off-road performance has been a big draw to the show in years past, but this year we’ve also seen an infusion of eco-focused and electric models as well. As the year goes on, we expect to see more of those roll onto dealer lots across the country, but this week at least gives us a taste of what we can expect in the near future.

1. Thoroughbred Automotive M460/470

Originally introduced during the Frankfurt Winter Showcase of 1985, the Thoroughbred Automotive M-series represented the company’s newest line of medium duty utility vehicles. With a reinforced chassis and long wheelbase, the first generation models came standard with a 6.7 liter cast iron gasoline engine and a wheelbase of 196 inches. A larger version of the truck, with a boxier front end, featured a 10.4 liter turbodiesel engine and a wheelbase of 246 inches. Offered with several different transmission options, most consumers preferred the 10-speed manual due to its ease of use and lack of major issues, unlike the six-speed automatic that was offered at the time.

At the end of 1997, the second-generation M-series debuted at Thoroughbred Automotive’s headquarters. While the model had remained relatively unchanged aside from minor redesigns to give the cab a ‘newer’ look, most of the true differences could instead be found under the hood. While the two previous engine options continued to remain available, the company also introduced an intermediary 7.8 liter in-line six-cylinder diesel engine. While the manual option remained the same, the company released a new version of their six-speed automatic that proved to be far less problematic than previous iterations.

The second-generation M-series is one of the most common commercial vehicles found across the country. Due to the ease in which it could be outfitted, numerous agricultural and construction firms utilized the vehicle to support their operations. Additionally the Imperial military ordered thousands of units to fill logistical rolls, and numerous Ducal and local governments continue to field them for any number of public works. Production of this model ended in summer of 2017, and the lines in Dresden that produced it were closed down for what was originally deemed to be retooling. Several weeks later, however, Thoroughbred announced that it would instead shutter the factory altogether and relocate the facility to a new industrial complex south of Frankfurt.

The nationwide availability of the third-generation M-series resumed in June of 2019. While the truck had always been known for its durability, during the last years of the previous generation consumers had continually pointed out that the vehicle felt ‘outdated’ and ‘uncomfortable’ compared to models offered by the competition. The interior had remained essentially for the better part of six years by that point, and the infotainment systems were completely analog even in the face of digital innovation.

With a more attractive, streamlined design the newest generation of M-series trucks are much more reminiscent of the products that Thoroughbred is known for. Technically speaking, the M460 is equipped with a 6.7 liter gasoline engine and has wheelbase options ranging between 140 and 246 inches; the only difference between that and the M470 variant is a more powerful 7.3 turbo diesel engine. Both models feature a six-speed automatic transmission, though a manual version can still be ordered through an authorized dealer. In previous statements, Thoroughbred has stated that they intend to move away from manuals in the future due to an overall decline in sales of those models.

Unlike with previous versions, the truck is now available with both day and crew cabs. The seats compared standard with a standard, high-wear cloth which can be swapped out for synthetic leather at the consumer’s request. One of the biggest features is an updated 10’’ FleetConnect touchscreen display with navigation and 4G LTE connectivity. Through the air conditioning and heat must still be operated using knobs, this system allows the driver to connect his phone to both take calls and stream music while on the road. Six auxiliary switches come standard below the screen, and the truck features a trailer brake controller that can be easily accessed to the left of the steering wheel.

The final major addition to the medium duty series is the available upfitting options. In the past, consumers have had to take their vehicles to third party groups to equip their vehicles with outfits other than box trucks. As part of the recent factory expansion, however, Thoroughbred Automotive has opened a facility to solely handle upfit production. As of 2020, the following options are available: rollback recovery, wrecker, ambulance, fire rescue, utility with service boom, ambulance, stake flatbeds, and landscape dumps. Fuel capacities on these models range from 25 gallons to 70 gallons split between two tanks.

The price of the M460 with a daycab and no upfit starts at approximately $58,000 Imperial dollars; upgrading to the turbodiesel version increases by the price by an additional $9,000 dollars. If a client wishes to have the vehicle come upfitted from factory, the prices of these can cause the vehicle to range from $64,900 to $142,000 dollars. Thoroughbred representatives have stated that custom orders are welcome as well, but that they can add up to several weeks to the delivery time of the vehicle.

2. Thoroughbred Automotive Valkyrie Leistung⁴

Available for order at the first of March, the next generation of Valkyrie is going to be available with a new, much anticipated package. Dubbed the Leistung⁴, the newest variant of the full-sized sports utility vehicle has been given a much more rugged and aggressive design. Although they have always come standard with four-wheel drive, the majority of these vehicles have become the go-to for the average suburban family due to the seven row seating and gratuitous storage room. This new model, however, is geared more towards those who operate off the grid and in ranches out in the eastern part of the country.

Already based on the frame of another Thoroughbred pickup truck, the Valkyrie has more deeply embraced the characteristics of the vehicle it derives from. The front end has been given a noticeable facelift and a boxy compartment to accommodate a powertrain. Aside from the 5.3 liter V8 that comes standard on the Valkyrie, its manufacturer has announced that a diesel variant will also be available for purchase in approximately two months time. The four-liter inline-six turbo diesel will give the model 329 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque along with an extended offroad range. It will come standard with 20 inch wheels, an additional two inches of factory lift, multiple tow hooks, and a version of the new Hämmesfahr ten-speed transmission.

The Leistung⁴’s interior will also feature some significant modifications not found in any other package. Carpet will not be available, and will instead be replaced by hard plastic floors and easy to clean, laser measured floor mats. The two upholstery options available will be high-wear cloth and faux leather, both of which have been treated to resist dirt and stains. The 10’’ touchscreen infotainment system will remain the same, but the analog buttons (such as display options and climate control) will feature larger buttons in case the passengers are wearing gloves. The vehicle will retain its 4G LTE connectivity which is better suited for operating out of urban areas than the 5G offered on the standard models. Three inches of legroom has been added for all occupants and their gear, which has increased the overall length of the Valkyrie by over half a foot.

Extra storage capacity aside, the vehicle has also been outfitted with an onboard cooler. Third row seating in the back has been removed to accommodate more storage space below the foldable deck. Aside from enough room to store several backpacks, a sixty quart cooler has been built into the driver’s side of the compartment. It is difficult to imagine how many beverages, be it water or alcohol, can fit in the cooler but Thoroughbred says that ice can be kept in it for up to a week at a time. Of course, there are several bottle openers built in as well.

While we no doubt expect to see this vehicle become popular with outdoorsmen and site workers in Eastern Shalum, assuming it performs as promised, we have already confirmed that it has interest elsewhere. The Shalumite Army has placed an order for one hundred units of the Valkyrie Leistung⁴ already, and no doubt intends to use it as an officer’s vehicle.

3. Overland Motorworks Marauder Bison Edition

Although Dresden may be the home of Thoroughbred Automotive, the show is open to companies from across the country and it would be surprising for the newest Overland model to not be present. Although the company is significantly smaller than the local competition, it has always been known for its speciality in pickup trucks and rugged utility vehicles. Though more expensive than the competition, the Marauder is often a top contender in off road situations due to its nearly unsurpassed reliability in extreme conditions.

While the Marauder is best known for its towing ability in particular, which we demonstrated with a 2019 model during our Heneheim Gauntlet Towing Test, the Bison Edition has added all-weather offroading to its repertoire. Technically, this model was released at the end of last year, but since a 2020 model was on display as well we decided that it was time to give it a proper breakdown for those of you at home. Several of us here at Imperial Car and Driver actually own this particular truck ourselves, and needless to say we have been far from disappointed by them.

Unlike with the more streamlined Marauder packages, the Bison Edition is only available with either a double or crew cab. In terms of performance, the consumer has three options to choose from powertrain wise. The 5.7 liter V8 gas engine, capable of producing 400 horsepower, is tried and true on this platform. For those who want even more capacity, there is the 6.3 liter V8 which comes supercharged from the factory and can produce an additional 203 horsepower when needed. Additionally, for those who want more endurance offroad, the third option is an inline-6 ecodiesel which sacrifices speed for increased torque.

Entry level cost aside, this package features numerous add-ons that only serve to enhance the truck’s look and performance. Air suspension, which can be adjusted from the touchscreen onboard, is one that we recommend for anyone who plans to really hit the trails in this truck. It offers several modes for everything from towing to riding higher on rough paths. Another option available at the time of ordering is to trade the 28 inch tires for 33 inch tires with a more aggressive tread pattern. The ‘trail package’ to top off that particular list includes a sports bar that can be outfitted with LED lights, hubcaps with custom Bison Edition badging, and foglights that make even the wettest nights navigable.

The Bison Edition features the largest infotainment system on a non-electric vehicle. The 13 inch touchscreen gives the driver unparalleled control of their truck. Aside from the standard radio and streaming, the Marauder also has built in navigation along with regularly updated maps of national parks and off-road hotspots across the country. Climate control and phone connectivity have been seamlessly integrated so that the outdoorsmen on the go can still connect with the outside world at a moment’s notice. The backup camera can be accessed at any time during vehicle operation. Additionally, it is the first Overland vehicle to feature automatic emergency braking and lane departure warnings.

Image
Photograph of Vi leaving the Long Biên Superior Court

Scenes outside the Long Biên Superior Court were awash with press as renowned whistleblower Ninh Tuyết Vi is escorted to her car. A glee-filled smile riddles her visage, indicating something good had happened.

The verdict revolves around the question of whether or not she would be released from prison on parole. Today, the Court has determined that Vi will be released on Sunday, 28 June, accounting for her good demeanor during her sentence.

Vi was apprehended on 30 April 2018 for intellectual theft charges involving Phuria Systems, and was sentenced over a month later she was fired from Trang Kiến & Phó Ðông. She was then incarcerated in the Hoàng Minh Hiếu I & II Correctional Institution and is to remain there for seven years. According to her superiors, she helped out in IT infrastructure maintenance with extensive effort and upheld a refined composure. Her sentence was reduced further from seven to four years due to these, and with continued good behavior, she was reviewed for parole. One act that proved to be a massive leverage for her was providing skills in catching escaped prisoners.

Vi stated that she "regretted her decisions before being arrested" and admitted that "paranoia influenced her significantly." From this, she has promised to control herself as she undergoes parole for two years. Moreover, she is granted visits to her family every Sunday.
