Mipax smiled graciously, knowing that at least of the burden of energy for her nation had been lifted.

Gabriel Barrette walked through the hallowed halls of the League building, mentally preparing himself for the overly theatrical circus which is the League. He smiled recalling yesterday, when President Renaut swore him in as the ambassador. Things in his home nation didn't exactly make sense but he was happy that for now at least he could represent his nation.

As for the League, he knew that the business world would see this move in a very positive light - almost like Keverai's emerging as a more stable state than it was pre-revolution.

He strolled through the last corridor, glancing at two binders his aides were carrying for him. He changed his walking pace and stride to one a lot more respectable before opening the doors and walking in.

"Good day Madames et Monsieurs. My name is Gabriel Barrette and I am here on behalf of Keverai. Before anything else, we'd like to thank the League for so warmly supporting our recovery in this symbolic gesture of accepting us into this organisation. We also appreciate that you have respected our wishes to be an Observer state. Now ushers in the time of rebuilding in the nation I am from. Thank you."

Callum watched as Gabriel entered the room. Gabriel was one of the diplomats he could tolerate from Keverai so he was mildly satisfied by his presence. He watched as Gabriel's aides' almost tripped over a small, uneven part in the floor - unable to see as a result of the binders they were carrying.

"Sounds about right for the Keveraites", Callum thought.

Callum tapped his pen as the Keveraite diplomat talked. "Monsieur... are you kidding me... they're not even French - Arborai's [an Ahnslen city] is more french than them..." he thought as he rolled his eyes.

Soon after, Callum calmly stated, selectively using an Ahnslen word to replace the French one:

"Welcome, Masiré Barrette to the League. We trust that your nation will be a positive influence on this Chamber."

Gao was very disappointed with the delegate of Keverai using incorrect french in the chamber, while he appreciated the setiments. While he wasn't aware that the language was widespread in Keverai it was certainly a better language than English, and certainly more sophisticated and fitting for foreign diplomacy. It would be rude of him not to correct the mistake for next time.

Reid frowned at Gao's jab at Barrette. The new delegate from Keverai was a younger man and clearly a little nervous to find himself sitting in the League chamber. Reid had noticed his stilted stride and awkward pace as he entered a few minutes before.

"I am sure, my friend, that we all grasped the sentiments behind the delegate's greeting," Reid said to his Suvurnian counterpart.

Mipax waggled her first two fingers. This was all quite petty. "Is this either the time or place to criticize each other's mastery of a language?" she asked.

OOC: I was under the impression that at least some of us were using translators, just like in the UN.

While this chit-chat about use of non-Isles languages was ongoing, Thomas MacArtain was notified of the news that four of the hangates across the ID Strait were hosting half-mast Noronnican flags at public places. He decided to speak his mind.

"The Athara Magarati Federation of Hangates would like to offer our deepest condolences regarding the death of Overlord Tytus Alexander." He looked at the Noronnican delegate and then at Severi. "Mr Secretary-General, perhaps we ought to have a moment of silence in the honor of this man."

Rodger looked tired, but at least some of the weight on his shoulders had been alleviated slightly. He spoke calmly, with a sombre tone, "I thank you on behalf of my nation for your consideration Honourable Delegate. The Overlord has been laid to rest in a state funeral, and an investigation into his untimely and tragic death is still ongoing. I am being told that there are political actors within Noronica who have designed a comprehensive plan to reconstruct and recuperate after the conflict, but right now I am not authorised to covey details at this moment in time. To those with interest in this matter, I have been asked to inform you all that you and your nations should expect large yet positive changes to the Noronnican political system. While the system has stood the test of time for generations, it is clear that the past few months were a direct result of the failure of the system to adapt to the modern state of affairs."

He took a sip of his water before continuing, "Should it come to the point where I am removed so as to make way for a new delegate to represent this new state, I will say pre-emptively that it has been an honour serving in the League as Noronica's delegate."

"Miklania is glad to hear that the situation is finally under control. Are you able to tell us what will become of Arvan following this turn of events?"

On Government: Checks and balances and ways of stopping things from happening are the only things that provide a stable government and a stable society.

On Democracy: It is a very neutral thing. It can be the best way of ensuring a reasonable government, or it can lead to genocide in the name of 'the people'.

On NSG: I believe the technical term for you people is "malformed conscience".

On society: Until reason and science become cool again, the "enlightened" who profess both but practice neither will continue to gleefully chip away at the bedrock of human society.

"The United Republics intends to open a dialogue with the new government of Noronica to ultimately resolve our dispute in Arvan.", Van Adrichem quickly responded, "As for my comrade, the Honorable Rodger Beckett, it has been my distinct honor to work with you in this League, and I hope that our actions will precipitate a new friendship between Noronica and the United Republics."

Rodger nodded, "Thank you both for your kind words. As I am currently unsure as to the details of a tangible executive within my nation, it may be the duty of an ambassador instructed by those involved in the construction of the new Government to enter into the discussion. However, I am told that it is hoped that someone bearing a higher rank shall take part in these talks."

"Despite the recent events in your country, Rodger, Vancouvia hopes we shall continue a cooperative and collaborative alliance with Noronica as we have in the past. It is through our friendship over the centuries that we have kept peace and prosperity in the Argean."

Ambassador White was acutely aware that Vancouvia's international status had begun to unravel over the last few months. She was especially aware that Vancouvia would need Noronnican intervention in the impending Illa crisis - the invasion of which had been held off while Congress waited for some semblance of stability in its chief ally.

"The Mênna also extend their support for Noronica," Mipax stated. "We hope that relations with the new government can be beneficial for both parties."

An aide leaned over and whispered in her ear. Mipax nodded. She'd suspected what she had just been informed would be her nation's strategy.

"Not to derail the conversation, but I would like to put a pin in another issue for discussion as soon as possible. As you are all likely aware, Mênna Shuli's government recently passed new regulatory measures for trade with San Javier, especially tobacco products. Our detention of sailors from that country in response to hostile actions and a lack of compliance with our laws has already been released to the media. San Javier's would-be government, which I will remind you all is a council formed by the military leaders of the former Republican government and the heads of various paramilitary organizations, has been highly unresponsive to our new laws, refusing to cooperate. They have threatened us with League action in retaliation for the arrests and confiscations we have made. I would like to lay out the facts of the matter from our perspective, if there are no objections."

"Since it was the Javierans violated Mennan law, your nation has every right to detain them, madam." Thomas MacArtair spoke up. "However, we do hope that this matter will be resolved with simple bilatetal extradition agreement."
