Our Time Is Here (Closed; Crookfur and Constans) (MT)

Postby Constans » Tue Jun 16, 2009 10:19 am

A nice breeze rolled through the northern part of Constans as the sun shined down on the complex, sitting in the midst of grass, trees, and lakes. A breath taking sight to say the very least, one of the natural wonders still left in Constans.

Doctor Lucas Glockner was dressed in his standard laboratory jacket and uniform as he stood ontop of a grassy hill, his face being beat by the sunlight and the cool breeze. It was hard for him to even think let alone imagine that behind him, in the large complex, in the middle of all of it, Constans was working on its first nuclear weapon in a project with the Kingdom of Crookfur.

Doctor Glockner smile turned grim as he turned to the call of one the guards stationed at the centre, Corporal Jaropełk Sobczak. "Yes Corporal Sobczak?", the young and green corporal finished running up the grassy hill, his SX23A1 assault rifle pointed down at the ground and his breath panting.

"They told me to come and get you, Doctor. I think one some of the Crookfur scientists are moving in. The centre is on full guard detail."

Doctor Glockner turned and viewed the lake outside the complex once more, its washing and soothing waves beating against the beach, before he turned and made his way down the hill. "Thank you, Jaropełk. I'll make my way to them. Try not to get yourself in trouble."

Corporal Sobczak gave a grin as he begun his run back down the grassy hill, "I'll try not to doctor."

Dr Gordon Lendmann looked up from his PDA as the transports driver announced that they were now close to the Constans facility.

It certainly was a remarkably plesant part of the world and it remind him of home. His original home on in the highlands of Crookfur Ilse rather than the semi arid landscape of Covenant Island where most of Crookfur's atomic energy manufacturing and research and development facilities were based.

As the transport passed through the complex perimeter, Dr Lendmann was strangely comforted to see weaponry familiar to him from facilities at home in the hands of the Constans gaurds. Yes the unifrom was different but they still carried themselves in the professional, almost stiff way, that seemed to be the hall mark of well trained troops.

As the transport pulled up infront of the main biulding and driver got out Dr Lendmann turned off his PDA and forced an end to his internal wool gathering, it was time to get to work.

Doctor Lucas Glockner was shielding his eyes as dirt blew against his unprotected face when the transport came to a stop and the guards begun to close the gates in one swift motion. Lucas was the first person to greet the Crookfur scientist as he stepped from the truck and onto the fields of the complex.

"Welcome to Constans, Doctor. I hope your trip here wasn't all that unpleasant? If you would follow me, I'll show you into the centre."

Lucas gave a warm smile as he begun his way towards the research center which sat in the middle of the entire complex and the large field, he stopped suddenly and raised his hand to a small degree. "I almost forget. I am Doctor Lucas Glockner, but of course you can just call me Lucas."

"Thank you, Doctor Glockner erm... Lucas!" Dr Lendmann wasn't used to such informality right off the bat, maybe it was the influence of the Military brass he worked beside or the members of the Hospitalers you cosntantly encountered in Crookfur scientific cirlces, but Dr Lendmann was often a fairly formal character. Of course this was yet another refreshing change and the Doctor could get used it.

"it was very pleasant indded, I'm Dr Gordon Lendmann, head of Croofkur atomic weaponry team and you can call me Gordon."

Other members of the Crookfur team began debussing from the transport and Dr Lendmann into duced them in turn, including a slightly paniky Dr Barney Clayborne who insisted that he had recieved a bunch of messages for Dr Lendmann but he was having problems getting connected to the server.

"Now,"interupted Dr Lendmann glossing over Claybornes concerns, "sicne we have all beenn introduced lets get oursleves settled and get on with thigns shall we?".

"Yes, indeed." Lucas smiled as he waved the scientist foward as they came into the centre, passing through several armed checkpoints as Lucas scanned his identification card through what seemed as a endless sea of scanners. Minutes later, they arrived in the gray center of the nuclear complex, where Constain scientist were walking about, hovering over various computer screens and test labs as a missile was starting to be built, awaiting its nuclear host.

"Gordon, this is our nuclear research center. As you can see, we are already starting on the missile and warhead, however, we were just awaiting your directions on the creation of the actual nuclear weaponary. We have the resources, however, just lack the direction."

Lucas smiled as the centre came to a halt, looking at the new arrived scientists.

OOC: and... its back, please excuss the time warp.

IC:

Dr Lendmann, leaned back in his office and chair and flipped through a folder of reports.

Things had been going well, very well for the past couple of months. Yes there had been the odd setback and stumbling step but every major project had those and the joint team here had been able to make up for any lost ground without too much fuss.

On reflection it was a bit strange to take satisfaction in spreading the world's most horrible weapons but Dr Lendmann was not one to let that sort of thinking take hold, he built nukes and he was good at it and besides the ultiamte irony was that in the long run these terrible weapons actually made the inhabitants of other antiosn safer as ultiamtely a nuclear armed international community was a polite international community.
