The Second Bug War[FT][Officially ended]

Postby Hornopolis » Sat Jan 23, 2010 8:29 am

Geneva, Switzerland; 0800 hours

The council members of the Federal Council take their seats as Prime Councillor Rasczak bangs his gavel, "Order in the Council room!" the room falls quiet and looks on as the Prime Councillor bangs his gavel again, "As we all know well enough, the Bugs are a vicious race of arachnids, upon their attack of Rio de Janeiro we fought them all the way back to the Arachnid Quarantine Zone, after over 1 million casualties we exiled them into their original systems," the council shifts uneasily, "Quiet! I'm not finished." the Prime Councillor looks at his fellow councillors, "We have come here to decide if-" the Earth rocks as a large explosion sounds as the building rocks, part of the building collapses killing the several councillors, "Everyone, we must reach the bomb shelter before the Bugs can enter the building!" The remaining councillors rush towards the dimly light corridor leading to the underground shelter, "We must survive, we are the heart of the Federation!"
--
Outside the building the Mobile Infantry that was guarding the chamber fire on the overwhelming Arachnid Warriors that rush from their meteor killing any civilian or soldier close to them, "There is to many! they'll get to the councillors we need to EVAC them!" Sergeant Fiedler looks around at the chaos the Bugs caused, "O.K. everyone fall back to the Council Chamber! we'll call for EVAC from there!" the Infantry fires a a few more volleys and retreats towards the collapsing council chamber, "Lock the doors behind us private!" half the group runs towards the heli-pad, "Secure the pad! I'l go and get the councillors!'' the group splits and Sergeant Fielder runs into the bunker, "Hurry Councillors follow me, we are leaving." Prime Councillor Rasczak nods and orders the councillors to follow the sergeant, "We are officially at war Sergeant, do you have a FED-NET console with you?" Fielder tosses his FED-NET console at him and kicks open the door to the stairs, "Hurry to the roof." Sergeant Fielder sprints up the stairs and breaks down the roof door, "The helos are here!" two helos land on the roof of the unstable building as the Arachnids begin to climb up the sides of the building, "Damn bugs are climbing up the building! everyone to the helicopters!" the large group of soldiers jump into the helos as the building is hit by a plasma round from a Tanker Bug, "Jesus! take off!" Fielder yells as he jumps onto the helo,

Dear Federal Council,

We have heard of your war, and wish to assist. We will send three divisions to assist your plight, and a fleet to help with relief. One of the divisions will be an elite Commando unit, the 431st. They ae the most experienced with underground warfare in our military. The other two divisions, the 79th and the 32nd, are basic marines. The fleet will be using 25 frigates, 20 Supply carriers and as many troop and passanger ships we can muster in a small time.

I hope this helps.

Raxi Jantilion, Grand Councilor of Nua Gealach

The Light Deployment Cruiser Stargate moved lazily at STL speeds, sent to establish a colony of sorts on a nearby planet. It wasn't going well. The long-range transmitter had quit after moving through a natural EMP field, set off by some sort of nuclear explosion, and the Warp Drive had quit... well when they came out of the Warp and landed in the EMP field. It was not a good day.

Jedi Captain Han Volo paced the bridge, only to see a light wink on the short-range communicator. Han jumped for joy, running to the board, just in time for the officer to flip it, and the message to begin. Han stopped. What was this? He moved closer, and asked the communications officer to play it again. This time he heard the message:

"We are officially at war with the Arachnid Race once more, they have brutally attacked our capital city Geneva and are currently attacking major metropolis' around our grand Federation and are bent on destroying all Federal citizens and civilians across Federation space, we are grateful for any help any other nation may send to help aide in the exile of the Arachnid race once more."

Han had heard of these Arachnid peoples. Vicious primordial creatures, not worth his time. But he knew that the Federation couldn't survive an attack by a meteoroid of these Arachnid creatures. They breed as rabbits, once the massive store of soldiers within the meteor runs out, which is nearly never. Han slammed the button to send out outgoing message, and yelled into the microphone:

This is Jedi Captain Han Volo of the Light Cruiser Stargate, moving to aid against this Arachnid infestation. While our number of soldiers is small, simply 2,000 we will aid in anyway possible.

Han immediately sent the ship to the last known coordinates of the planet "Switzerland". The engines lit up, blasting them closer to the planet. 4 minutes and counting. Han spoke into his wrist intercom, sending the message echoing throughout the ship, "All soldiers are to prepare for battle. Bring Anti-Tank weaponry, all mobile armor platforms, and the Command Center module. All pilots are to prepare for takeoff." He continued to run, finally arriving at his quarters.

He bent down, reached into his trunk and pulled out two sets of Jedi Armor, powerful enough to protect from high-powered bolts, two lightsabers, one green one purple, and a blaster pistol. He suited up, and studied himself. He was not a particularly powerful Jedi by any means. But he was a Jedi, which is better than nothing.

Han's timer said 1 minute until they were within the atmosphere of the planet. From there, it would likely be another two. He moved off to the troop mobilisation area. Gathered were all 1946 soldiers of the Colonization party, with scattered mobile tanks and fighter-bombers. In the far back of the formation was a Planet Command Center. It is about two-stories tall, with multiple gun emplacements. But the best part? It has an AI which could coordinate an entire war front single-handedly, and can hold over ten thousand communication channels at once, allowing messages to be sent quickly, and en masse.

Han stopped when he came to the room, eventually hearing on the loudspeaker. 00:30 Seconds until planet-side, Standby. He waited for what seemed the longest moments of his life. Han took a deep breath, and stood back. He felt the familiar cling of the spaceship going planet-side. And the hangar door opened, revealing a horrible scene. On one side, a massive crater stood, surely with the meteorite still inside, as, streaming from the crater, were hundreds of thousands of Arachnids, scattered around with Hive Mothers, moving through and burning the defending forces. The Arachnids were using a famous tactic, swarm the enemy until they are weakened, then crush them. And it was going to work.

The moment Han and his force left the ship, they encountered their first problem. A piece of the meteorite had broken off from the original. While it was small, it was still large enough to carry a sizable force of Arachnids. Han ordered Stargate to take a low-flying route, and target that secondary meteor. But the Arachnids inside didn't like that idea, and quickly swarmed out, hissing and snarling at us as they flew into battle. Han forgot everything, and rushed forward lightsabers in hand. The first came to him, and moved it's mandibles to slice him apart. But he was too quick for that, and sliced the beast down the center, moving on. Blaster bolts fired from the mass of soldiers, colliding with the Arachnids, and causing a great many to fall. But that alone was not enough.

***

Private Ryan Curtis picked up his rifle, and unloaded an entire sub-energy core into the mass of Arachnids. A few fell, but not nearly enough. It was fitting, he thought, considering he was the radio operator. Something that burst to life and said, "This is Alpha-Four-Nine, reporting in, requesting coordinates of target hive." Ryan sat for a moment, surprised completely that the fighters still were in existence after engaging the main group of Arachnids, and dropping a considerable mass of weaponry over them. Ryan, dumbfounded, replied, "This is Private Curtis, unload Hellice missile over coordinates 88:29:59, over." He didn't need confirmation for that. The aircraft shrieked above, and a semi-thermonuclear device exploded, directly upon the meteorite chunk. The chunk disappeared, and the formation cheered.

Ryan leaned back, thanking whatever there was out there for giving him that insight. But there was still problem of killing this party of Arachnids, and before they overwhelmed the Jedi. The tanks began to fire plasma streams into the mass of Arachnids, melting many, leaving only a hundred left. Far too close to help the Jedi. Fate would decide. Finally, the Jedi sliced the head from the final Arachnid, and dropped to his knee panting. It was tiring work killing an entire army.

***

They were finally dead, and Han was drenched in blood. He ordered the Command Center to be dropped at the nearest 'safe' coordinates to Geneva as possible. Stargate cruised above the city, firing turbolasers to their full effect, destroying masses. Destroying that meteorite was not an option, considering it was made of some semi-organic material with a hard-ass shell. Fighter-Bombers unloaded thermonuclear devices over the masses close to the meteorite, but they continued to stream from the crater. Heavy casualties were suffered, with over fifteen planes destroyed from Plasma balls.

But Han would not back down. He would help these people until either they died, or he died.

Prime Councillor Rasczak looks down at the Nua Gealachian message, "Good God, this may help us remove the Bugs from the whole world!" (Refering to Hornopolis(Hornopolis is not an Earth based nation)) Rasczak gets up and looks around at his small radio room, "Send the a message."

To: Nua Gealachian Government
From: Federal Council

I personally thank you for your aide in our planets dire situation, we ask that you send all your men and your fleet to Hamburg to organise a counter-attack on the Arachnids. We will inform you of the situation upon your arrival.

"Sir, 7th Regiment has sited a tanker bug near Rhine River, shall I order them to attack?'' the Prime Councillor looks at Colonel Hayes, "Send another regiment to the 7th's position, order them to capture the Tanker Bug, inform me if their is anymore news." Colonel Hayes salutes and walks out of the room.

Outpost Range, Rhine River; 1156 hours

"Men, we have orders to ''liberate" the Tanker Bug on the other side of the Rhine, we might get reinforcements in a few hours but for now we are alone, let us fight for the Federation's freedom." the 7th Mobile Infantry Regiment packs up their gear and begins to ford the might Rhine. A hissing sound penetrates the ears of the 700 men as they reach the other side of the river, "Oh my God! its an Ambush!" hundreds of Arachnid warriors rush from the forests and various holes the Tanker Bug had created earlier, "Back across the river!" Colonel Jackson turns around and retreats back into the Rhine, "Sir their to fa-" Captain Shujumi trips into the surf and is grabbed by a nearby warrior, "Shujumi!" Jackson throws a hop grenade at the swarm of Bugs and continues to run back towards Range Outpost, "Back into the base!" Jackson's men are overwhelmed by the Arachnid Warriors, "Damn! fire at the Bugs! we will die defending the Federation!" Jackson fires an H-Bomb into the swarm, killing dozens, and flicks his snoopers on to see his remaining men, "Defensive perimeter! defend this outpost!"

In the Kuiper Belt of the Federation's Capital Planet

Space-time screamed out in pain, as if attempting to resist the appearance of a horror. But resistance was in vain. A massive wedge of armor and duranium, its surface gleaming and clean, ripped into reality, over two kilometers long, like an enormous spearhead. Behind it, five transport ships appeared, laden with soldiers and armor. Immediately, they began moving towards the planet.

“Attention all Federation Personnel within the system,” - the ship started broadcasting, the words of its commander ringing through every television set, every civilian and military broadcast frequency known within the system - “This is Captain Nigel Genson, of the United States Stellar Navy. I bring with me this mighty ship, the USS Teenage Rebellion and the forces of five infantry divisions.”

“I know that you are afraid, Citizens. Huddling in your shelters, as millions of Arachnids scuttle across the surface of your homeworld, how can you be not afraid? But as you sit in your bunkers, waiting for help, I wish to tell you a little story.”

“Years ago, on the world of Ohan, the citizens were facing a problem much like yours – their very world was being overrun – but not with millions, with trillions of vicious warrior bugs corrupted by Chaos itself. They were called Megarachnids, and before them came hundreds of enhanced superhuman warriors. By all counts, Ohan was doomed. And then the Allaneans came.”

“A single division of Allanean troopers – the Tenth Stalinvast Daredevils, light infantry, without tanks or vehicles – and this very ship. This was what we brought to the table. And yet, the impossible wave, the billions of death-bugs – they saw us, and their front wave broke on the Daredevils' rank like a wave breaking upon the rocks. In the open fields outside the cities, where we did not have to fear for civilians, our battleship guns incinerated the death-bugs from orbit by the hundreds of thousands and millions. And those few that made it through – the Daredevils shot them, and stabbed them with their bayonets, and burned them with the flamers. And the impossible, innumerable horde broke rank and ran away.”

“They. Ran. Away. And we pursued them out into the deserts and wastelands, and, with our allies, finished them off with thermonuclear weaponry, and fire from orbit. Of the trillions of bugs, the thousands of Chaos Space Marines, the Allaneans and our allies did not allow a single one to live. This was what this ship did once, with the help of some assault cruisers and a single infantry division.”

“But now we bring five infantry divisions, with tanks, and vehicles, and artillery. And we face – not ten trillion bugs, but only a few million. This will not be a fight. This will be a safari hunt. Know no fear, Federation Citizens: For know this now. Your enemy is weak. Your enemy is outnumbered and outgunned, for now it faces the Allaneans. Know no fear, Citizens. For it is not you, but the Arachnids that need be afraid.”

Hamburg, Germany; 1200 hours

"What the hell are the Alleaneans doing?" Rasczak says as the message ends, "Our homeworld is not a community of scared cititzens and civilians, send the Audacious to their ship, have Captain Anoke talk to them." SkyMarshal Hendricks salutes and sends a message to Anoke's ship to launch and meet the Alleanean vessel, "Sir, we have reports that the 7th Mobile Infantry have been wiped out." silence falls on the men in the room, "My God, are you sure?" the operator nods and looks back down at the transmission, "Aye sir, I'm sure."
--
Range Outpost, Rhine River; 1200 hours

"Major, there is a large swarm of Bugs coming this way, they walked right over 7th Regiment." Major Folloy looks out at the bloodied field, "Set up the guns, this outpost cannot fall."

The 65th Mobile Infantry Regiment runs out of the mess hall and straight towards the outpost's paraphet, "Machineguns on the wall, the Bugs are charging." the regiment hurriedly runs to set up the machineguns before the Arachnids begin their assault.
--
Rhine River flood plain; 1203 hours

Jackson crawls towards another wounded infantryman, "Carmen, kill me thats an or-" Carmen fires her pistol into the Colonel's head, "Yes sir." she says before the Tanker Bug crushes her wounded body.

The imperial crusier brust from the warp and found itself looking at ships it remembered. The captain sent a message to the alleans, "Hello! I believe we've met these creatures before and fought and died against them together!" The space marines placed their helmets upon their heads and picked up their bolters. The captain of these three hundred super-humans soldiers walked along the front of them as they lined themselves up. "Today we fight an acient and deadly foe! Today we finally remove these xenos scum from the universe! To your drop pods brothers! We are going to depoly near this river here upon your landing brothers you are to annihalate everything with more than two legs! GO!" the marines moved into their pods and took their hostlers. The pods moved to the launch bay doors and then the rockets on top of them launched them into space and towards the planet.

The first pod crashed onto the banks of the Rhine. The doors opened and the marines stepped out and began to fire bolter into the horde of archnids. Two pods crashed into the 7th's outpost, "Who's with me?!" One marine yelled as his HUD began to slowly flicker into life and show him who in his squad was still breathing and beating. "I'm with you brother!" The marines moved into the horde firing slowly as they advanced into the horde their bolters burning red hot. Two marines ran up to the walls of the outpost and began to fire their heavy bolters into the horde outside. Archnids fell left and right as more and more pods crashed into them and crushed them and then the bolter fire poured out from them.

A small hole in space opened, and out fame a fleet of Nua Gealchians. The ships stopped just out of Hornopolis' atmosphere, and awaited. two troop transports left the fleet, heading down to the area on the map marked "Germany". They followed directions provided to reach the city of Hamburg, and landed in the space port outside the city, using shuttle. They unloaded troops and fighter craft, along with artillery and tank units. Finally, when the troops were out, the Grand Councilor, Raxi Jantilion, stepped out, flanked by two women, one was Kao-ven Belki, the leader of the Assassin Priests, and the other was Makliav Zeia, a diplomat. As they walked, they found a soldier from the Hornopolis Armed Forces. and Raxi said "Greetings, soldier. Might you lead us to a commanding officer? We are here to support in the defense and offense against the Arachnids."

Outpost Range, Rhine River; 1210 hours

The Tanker Bug rushes through the defending line of the 65th Mobile Infantry and lodges itself into the wall of the outpost, "Take cover!" yells a soldier as he dives into the trench, the large Tanker Bud explodes and demolishes the outer-wall of the outpost, "They breached our defenses! the Arachnids are inside the base!"

The Bug warriors rush over the burning corpse of the Tanker Bug and into the outpost itself, "Defend you line, defend your Federation!" the 65th Mobile Infantry stands fast as the Arachnid warriors rush over their position, they regiment kills as many Bugs as they can before they are forced to retreat towards the paraphet of the remaining wall, "There is to ma-" the soldier is ripped apart as a wave of Bug warriors climb up the wall.

The Allanean ships speed towards the planet, their engines powered up to full burn. Already, dozens of fighters and smallcraft are deploying as they move, flying in next to the Allanean fleet. Soon, their assault will commence.

“Sir, we have detected a Federation ship approaching.”

“Hail them. Ask them to share a map of the planet. We will commence once we have the information downloaded.”

F.S.S. Audacious, Bridge; Day 1

Admiral Anoke looks out at the Alleanean vessel, "Send them a map of Europe." the operator nods and sends the Alleanen vessel a map of Europe with the provinces that are under attack in light blue:

Image

"Sir, we recieved orders to watch the Alleanean vessel." Anoke looks at the tall Bridge Sergeant, "Why? are they potentially hostile?" the sergeant shakes her head, "They might have thermo-nuclear weapons on board." Anoke nods and turns back to the viewscreen, "Now we wait."

Having received the map, the ship crews accelerated further. In a few hours, they would be over Germany.

“Attention all Federation personnel,” - the Allanean broadcast came - “We will now be commencing air assault and bombardment of bug positions.”

Raxi laughed, and Keo grinned. She said, flicking out a circular moon blade from her long sleeve, "I think I can handle myself." She sheathed the blade back, and said "Dizzy, do you know anything about the war so far? Casualties, the enemies strategy for battle, etc?"

OOC: Noted.

IC: The Stargate immediately sets a course for Hamburg, Germany, preparing whatever defensive forces it still holds. Due to the relatively short range of inner-atmosphere fighter-bombers, air support will be cancelled for a short time.

***

The Command Center was established, and immediately eased the strain on the near-breaking communication lines, opening up information highways. Once hooked to a veritable power source, the Command Center's long-range communicator activated, immediately sending a distress signal to Jedi Order HQ. A message came through, saying:
This is Fleet Admiral Na-Shadd from the bridge of Excalibur. Distress signals have been verified, and a force, dedicated simply to the elimination of Arachnids, will be incoming. An ORBAT report will be attached to this communique. Through this Command Center, a communication line will be established with Federation forces.

1 Lancer Light Carrier
4 Reaper Battle Cruisers
3 Jedi Marine Divisions (Divisions led by 1-3 Jedi)
1762 Crawler Tanks
60 Speeder Fighter/Bombers
2 "Planet Busters" (Capable of complete destruction of a planet.)

The small battlefleet arrived, and received coordinates to drop forces. The fleet moved to the location of the planetside force, collecting all that was there, and engaged the meteorite long enough to free the defenders slightly. Excalibur arrived in Hamburg, Germany, and set down, off-loading of all forces began. Once unloaded, the forces moved to mass deployment areas. The admiral of the fleet, Na-Shadd, left the ship, ready to move and coordinate a defensive effort.

"Well welcome to the Province of Germany, I am Captain Isabel "Dizzy" Torres of the 8th Mobile Infantry Regiment, I am suprised to see a Grand Councillor a few miles away from a warzone."

Raxi laughed, and Keo grinned. She said, flicking out a circular moon blade from her long sleeve, "I think I can handle myself." She sheathed the blade back, and said "Dizzy, do you know anything about the war so far? Casualties, the enemies strategy for battle, etc?"

"Well all I know is that my brother's Mobile Infantry Regiment was wiped away from this earth, and that an outpost on the Rhine River is currently under attack, I estimate around 1,500-2,300 casualties." Dizzy falls quiet and pulls a picture of her brother, "He was supposed to be in the Federal Fleet..."

Raxi looks at the picture and says "The universe works in mysterious ways. I think that enough borthers have been lost for now." She turns and nods toward Keo. She takes out a small medallion of a crescent moon over a thirty point sun star. She takes the medallion and hands it to Dizzy, and says "Here. take this. It is a Medallion of the Fallen. The moon represents the death, the sun represents the rising of the life again. Its yours."

Dizzy takes the medallion and stares at it, "Thank you, this means a lot to me..." the vehicle hits a speed bump and a wheel jettisons off, "Damn it, cover me, I am going to change the tire." Dizzy hops out and grabs her pistol, "If a hole opens up, tell me." she walks to the trunk and lifts the large tire, "Damn things are so heavy." as she fixes the tire she looks at the medallion around here neck, "If I die I could be with him." she pauses for a long while then quickly shakes off her suicidal thought and continues to work.

"Very well." Keo and Raxi hop out of the car, and Makliav turned around to look behind the car. They all drew pistols, except for Kep, who took a TRIS 1200 riffle from her back. They stood in a triangle around the car, and when a rumble started, Raxi said "Is this an aftershock? Has an Earthquake hit?"

Captain Genson shakes his head.

“It's not good down there. Not good at all. Radio the Federation. I need a permission to nuke the fucking bugs. In the meanwhile... tell the fighter pilots to hit them with conventionals. Let's fry us some bugs, people.”

On the Captain's mark, two squadrons of fighter-bombers scream down towards the ground, their shields protecting the bomb racks from the effects of athmospheric friction. Soon enough, they are in the troposphere, screaming at a speed of 'merely' Mach 1. 2 kilometers blow, the Rhineland is drawing nearer.”

“We're closing on the bugs now. Drop speed, boys. We're going to need to see them.”
