Pakxe Pact-Aeuria Conflict Zone, Borneo

A massive Aeurian bomber smashed into the ground right next to a Pact deployment, the huge explosion launching several soldiers into the air. One landed on top of an Aeurian vehicle, the body falling as the vehicles moved forward. Barbed wire was now torn up and scrambled across the battlefield, with corpses being burnt by incendiary weapons.

In a well defended tent not very far from the fighting, a Pact Major activated encrypted online communications with General Trâ Tông. The fire of bullets and rockets could be heard even kilometres away from the battle itself, with Aeurian and Pact forces desperately struggling for control of the island. The Major began to speak, but realised he could barely be heard and so began to yell.

"General, sir. They've initiated a massive attack. Scouts report Mascargoans in the mix, but it's-" the sound of another crashing bomber filled the area, this time of Pact origin. It smashed right into an Aeurian tank, the wings impaling infantrymen as it fell. "It's hard to tell with all the chaos out here. We need reinforcements to hold this position."

The General sipped his coffee, and then he began to speak, in a firmly commanding yet somewhat friendly tone. "Not to fear, Major. I have deployed additional divisions from Quadrant 3 to your position. Other such groups are on their way to other positions. We are also establishing our little jungle traps for the enemy as we speak. If the Aeurians do start to push through, fall back to Rendezvous Point Alpha. We should be able to delay them in time to finish due diplomatic process."

As the General finished, the Major opened his mouth, but quickly grabbed the device he was using to communicate and raced out of the tent. An incendiary round engulfed the temporary structure, as the Major made his way quickly to a secure bunker nearby. When he had arrived, he panted for a few moments before setting down the device and beginning to speak yet again. "They have long range against us. The minefield should hold them for a wile, but we think they will push through eventually. Their technology is better than ours, only our Viet Dai equipment able to keep up. The Khmer have sent medium choppers, but they are not able to do much yet. Flamethrowers are go-" the Major instinctively ducked as the telltale sound of an Aeurian fighter exploding filled the bunker, before he continued. "The flamethrowers are going well enough, but we cannot keep the enemy at bay forever. Any chance you can initiate Protocol Tau?"

The Major set his cup of caffeinated liquid down. "Negative, Major. We cannot violate the Pakxe Convention. No NCW for us unless the enemy uses it. Cyber-warfare division one is at work right now, and tomorrow we should have access to some high quality arms to further develop from. Major, do not fall back yet. We still have a chance to win this battle."

The Major thought for a moment. "Sir, we-" he paused as another artillery shot smashed into an area nearby." Sir, we have no cover behind us. If we fall back, we must do it carefully, and quickly. They took out most of it and now the jungle is burnt to a crisp. We have set a few basic traps and mines up, but it will be very difficult to lure the enemy towards them. We have managed a few non-detonated missiles to the ground. If they come much closer, we can activate that and surprise them. But apart from that, we can only hold out and hope."

An officer appeared behind the Major, requesting orders. The Major immediately responded. "Commence Protocol Sigma." The officer indeed, before fading into the background, holding what appeared to be a telephone of some mind. As he finished, some piece of Aeurian music that had been playing the whole time was cut off, probably hit by a missile of some kind. Another speaker was activated a little further away, the music of the Pact now louder around the bunker.

The Major turned to face the General again. "Sir, respectfully, I will keep you updated, but I have got to go." General Trâ Tông merely nodded, turning off his own screen before moving to take a sip of coffee, and realising it was empty. He left the screen to refill it. On the other side, the Major went outside to check on the situation. After a few almost blinding flashes, he quickly returned to the bunker. Outside, a field of unexplored ordnance had hit the ground near the Aeurian position, now exploding in a glorious burst of heat and death. Many were incendiary. These secret weapons were slow missiles intended only to explode when remotely detonated, a job they had performed well in testing.

Mediterranean

Fighter 1: "PROVENCAL 2! BREAK OFF, I REPEAT, BREAK OFF! WE'RE TURNING AROUND; WE CANNOT RISK ANY CONFLICTS WITH THE SLAVS!"

Fighter 2: "God damned radio's broken... I guess I'll switch back to-"

Fighter 1:"DO YOU READ ME!!?!? I SAID BREAK THE FUCK OFF!!!"

Just as the second Rafale neared a Mascargoan jet, he broke away, realizing how stupid he had been to not stay in touch with his squadron. He was miles behind the formation, but he radio'd back to his commander to make sure he knew.

Fighter 2: "Good copy, P1, Sorry about that. I'm turning around now"

The pilot of Provencal 2 gets off the radio, "Oh... merde, he's gonna fucking kill me when I get back ..."

The squadron of Rafales flew back towards their aircraft carrier awaiting them not too far away.

_______

To Whom it May Concern in the Tuscan-Piedmontese Royal High Command,

The Charles de Gaulle, currently patrolling the Mediterranean, has recently dispatched a squadron of Dassault Rafales to intercept the unidentified fleet, however, we have only been met with interrupted communications and radio silence.

As we are unaware of the status of our fighters, we have reported them MIA until further notice, if you can scout the area with your fighters in search of our Dassault Rafales, that would be greatly appreciated and accelerate our search and rescue operations.

With due respect,
Captain of the Charles de Gaulle

West & South Africa

With the African armies in full retreat, the locals have begun choosing sides. Some continue their armed resistance against the invading Francophonie forces, and some join with them, seeing the superiority the Francophonies have and also securing for themselves favorable surrender terms.

So far, only Togo and la Cote d'Ivoire has fully fallen under the control of Alcase and Ensoleilletat respectively. The leaders of these countries have met with Fleet Admiral Charles Rafale after a few weeks of battle, completely exhausted, battered, and with wavering morale; they have surrendered unconditionally to the Francophonie.

Aeuria wrote:A Colonel walked up to Emperor Aleksander in Central Command. As the emperor turned his head, the Colonel stopped in his tracks and saluted. After a nod from Aleksander, the soldier informed him of King Stanis' call.

"Very well, I'll take it in my office." he said, already walking towards the elevated office, overlooking the command center. As he sat down in the large, plush office chair, he saw the phone on the desk with a light on the call waiting button. Aleksander pulled out his cigarette case, retrieving a cigarette and lighting it slowly as he looked at the flashing light. After a large exhale and clearing his throat, he leaned forward and grabbed the phone.

"Hello, Stanis!" Aleksander said cheerfully. "So glad you called, have I got a deal for you! I was thinking, considering all of your assistance in Indonesia, perhaps I could grant Mascargo some resource claims in Indonesia as a thank you. Maybe some of this horrid oil everywhere I imagine you would want; Divines, there's a lot of it. What do you think?"

Stanis kicked his legs up onto the desk, sighing. "Aleksander, I was under the impression that this invasion of yours was going to be quick, sudden and decisive. So what the hell are you doing, fighting the Pact? This is a rather unforeseen change in direction." He paused, looking at small model globe that stood upon his desk. It had been faced towards Indonesia, Stanis having given some thought to the region.

"Now, don't hear me wrong. I'm not backing out of the conflict, especially now. I've taken the liberty of mobilizing two corps if you would require our assistance in combating the Pact. They'd be arriving by transport through the Suez canal, we've got a situation still brewing in the Mediterranean, but don't worry yourself about problems way up here in Europe; Indonesia's the real prize!"

Stanis remembered his offer, taking a second to think it out with himself. "As for your offer; resource rights would be invaluable. Mascargo can never have enough oil. Yet, I was thinking. Most of Aeuria's troops are stationed in eastern Indonesia, or combating the Pact on Borneo with the 92nd assisting. Our troops have basically been fighting and occupying Sumatra without much in the way of assistance from you. Don't consider this a demand, but, I believe it's only fair that Mascargo receives some tangible bonus from this, and land is tangible."

When he was done he continued the motion for a while longer before abruptly turning his head to one of the guards and half-yelling something in Italian. The guard scurried off and the King turned his head back around as the door closed, massaging his temples in stress.

They remained in silence within the dusty confines of the meeting room for just a bit less than five minutes before the door reopened and the guard appeared holding a folder crammed full of papers. The guard held out his hand, offering the files forward, and Cesare took them in a single, hard motion, landing the Manila folder onto the wood before him. "One of Mr. Pignone's folders," he explained absently. "Lucky it hasn't been burnt yet. Typically the case for disgraced Minister's personal files. If this proves true he may move to something past just disgraced." With a flick of his hand, it opened, and he spent several more minutes in silence filing through its contents personally alongside Minister di Mari.

"Here we are," di Mari said, sliding free a handful of papers and transcripts. "This looks about like what you were talking about, Ambassador." Cesare looked over them as he spoke in consternation before sliding a paper off the top and towards the Aeurian.

"It looks to me like the Pakxe Pact made a purchase and Minister Pignone took it upon himself to accept it without consulting a single other soul in the process," Cesare said. "I should have that fat, greedy slime drawn and quartered for this. Selling weapons to the Pact through my own government." He scowled, flicking through the reams of papers again.

Di Mari rose his voice. "Your maj-"

"Ambassador, I am going to tell you something very unofficial," Cesare said, cutting off the Foreign Minister, much to the man's annoyance. "We here in Tuscany- myself, my family, and those closest to me- do very much support Aeuria. We believe that Aeuria is a force for romance good in the east and more importantly a strong potential economic ally."

He pointed a finger at a line on the sheet he had slid over earlier. "This is nearly a million dollars worth of guns. We're hesitant to make any open, political endorsements yet, but we'll see these get redirected to your country. Take it as a sign of... Goodwill, we'll say. Some top of the line firearms for you to examine and field test free of charge in return for some openness to future cooperation with me and my Kingdom."

"Whoever is ferrying this shipment is most definitely on our payroll, not the soon-to-be late Minister's. They'll end up in Aeuria before they get close to Pakxe. I hope this... Unfortunate incident can be turned into something beneficial for both of our countries. I am afraid, however, that I must return to my meeting with Alcase," he finished, starting for the door, guardsmen neatly falling in behind him. "Please ask Minister di Mari here any questions you might have."

With that, he slipped out the door, leaving the room empty save for Aeurian, the Minister, and a bunch of archived paperwork.

Ambassador Duvon stood as His Majesty did. "Thank you, Your Majesty. I am sure my government will be very interested in examining the weaponry." he said before bowing as the King left.

The Ambassador stood as he addressed the Foreign Minister. "I don't believe I have any other obligations to fulfill. Thank you for your time, Minister di Mari." he said before again bowing and being escorted out of the palace.

As the 4th Fleet, off the Western Coast of Borneo took aim, the Admiral did a final check on the coordinates of the missile and artillery launches.

"These numbers better be right, or we'll be killing our own men, Lieutenant." he said, taking a long puff from his pipe that stuck loosely in the corner of his mouth.

"They've been triple checked, Sir. The launches will hit the Pact." replied the Lieutenant quickly as he continued to work at a console.

After a few minutes, the Lieutenant gave the ready and the Admiral ordered the entire Fleet to begin bombardment of the Pact forces. Dozens of missiles shot into the air from the decks of warships, huge pieces of artillery began booming loudly. The Admiral watched the missiles fly out of sight with a smile as he blew a large plume of smoke. "That should cause some chaos!" he laughed.

The forces of Cowaldia suddenly hear's the message of the war happening in Indonesia and quickly Prophet Dũng An ran to his Secret Intelligence and had a private meeting.

"Welcome to the meeting Prophet Dũng An. Please, take a seat and let's talk about the war in the Pacific. As you know, the Auerian Empie is currently invading the Indonesian islands and we need you Dung to end this once and for all. How would you suggest we would stop this war?".

Dung An replied swiftly "We will need to arm our troops. Even though we are only a year-old army, we will need to protect the Holy Land of the Pacific. Let anyone into Coswaldia if they're a refuge and if they're not, don't open fire till they open fire. You understand this brother Trai An?

"Yes, I do understand and the threat is dangerous and we are threatened by this oncoming storm. I advise you to stock up our troops to patrol thy borders of Coswaldia and may God so help our nation in this time of grief. Dear God, we thank-you for this prospering nation and to protect us from the oncoming storm and if thy misses us, we will be very happy and have a feast in your honour. Amen,".

"Amen," says Dũng An. Anyhow, what's the report on our troop numbers brother?" asked Dũng An questioning his brother. "How many ... do we have," with some worry.

"We have 223,178 troops strong. I am afraid our forces won't last for long if they're doing a tactical invasion like this one. Let's call this offensive, the An Offensive in honour of us and our bravery to protect this nation. We will show the Coswaldians what kind of country we are! A Holy nation, blessed by God! Now, God willingly giving us some land during the peace treaty, we will convert Indonesia under the Holy Empire. This session is over. Head back to your stations and we will tell the Coswaldian Public of our plans tomorrow to strike fear into the Auerian Empire! Hallowed be his name, may his will be done," says Trai An finishing off the speech.

As everyone is leaving, Dũng An then says to his brother "Very well done brother. May we protect this country of ours under His name,".

Stanis looked at the globe, studying Indonesia. Splitting Sumatra down the middle worked well for Mascargo. Stanis had desires he let nobody hear even a breath of, and land in the Pacific would easily work for his plans. "Only if we get to kill some Pakxes as well, eh?" Stanis laughed, writing a small note to himself on a post-it note. "Your offer sounds fair. I'll have to increase MDF prescence in northern Sumatra and the surrounding waters after this little dance ends, but we can work out some agreement later for that. Now, tell me, do you want anymore assistance? Like I said, I have two corps on standby, ready to be shipped out if you want help with fighting the Pact. An airborne division only goes so far..."

"Affirmative copy, go ahead."

"Hostile bogies have buggered out. We're returning to refuel."

"Copy that, I'll tell the Admiral to order another launch."

Zinovy stood in the bridge of the HMS Sabre, watching the comms officer speak with the patrol. The officer looked back, the Admiral already knowing what he would say. "Eagle group is returning to refuel. Should we launch another patrol?"

"Yes, we need to keep up constant air interference until we better discern what these Alcasians think they're doing. We use these waters as much as they do."

I reckon if you approach from the West, you will be able to flank their forces. The 4th Fleet is just off the coast bombarding Pakxe positions in the conflict zone, and we've already begun constructing defenses there, so arriving should go off without a hitch. Best of luck, Stanis." Aleksander said.

"I... see. Well," he began before clearing his throat. "I suppose a deal could be struck. Interested in Sumatra... just when I was thinking of building a Palace there. Hm." Aleksander said, standing up and walking around the desk, looking out the large window overlooking the command center. "How about we split Sumatra? I'll get the Southern half and Eastern islands, you'll get the Northern half and the Western islands, how does that sound?"

"Eagle-1 to Sabre, how copy?"

One Day later
========================
"All federal workers, report to the Indonesian embassy here in New Guinea, NOW!" says Dung An in a harsh voice. Minutes later, the workers arrive including Trai An, the Prophet's brother and he excuses himself from the meeting. "Brother, why I called this meeting here today is that Stannis person is part of the invasion and he's going to invade the island of Sumatra! We can't let him take that island,".

"Yes, I know ... Dung but the thing is, we might lose this war if you act aggresively to Stannis's armies. What I suggest is for you go ally him and invade with him. I will tell you why my plans are so, but I will tell you this. We CAN'T be sharing out secretive information. For all we know, the Auerian Empire may be watching. They got spies everywhere in the Pacific to make their next move! Try to act reasonable Dung An. It's for the best of this nation," says Trai begging to the Prophet. "PLEASE just do this one thing for me. It may be tough for you but trust me, it's for the best," and he sniffles.

"It's alright brother. I will ally with these nations for this war so we can become a safer, stronger nation. Plus, we will got more troops," replies Dung to try to get his brother to stop crying. "Here, get up. We will just cancel the meeting before Stannis finds out," as he heads back to the Meeting room.

"Alright now brothers and sister in-arm. I have a word to say with you but it will be quick and swift and right to the POINT!" he says while jabbing his pen down to the paper. "We will ally with the invaders of the Pacific!".

"TRAITOR!" says the crowd. "HE'S A FRAUD! I SAY EXECUTE HIM!" yells the protestors.

"THIS IS ENOUGH! We will ally with them and that's FINAL! Anyone dares speaks against me will be killed as an example to the the traitors that live among the islands of New Guinea and Australia. I will be making this the Waldian Executions if you dare to try to threaten me or the Government. I know what's best for us and this nation and that's that. Help yourselves with a drink; I got to talk to my brother,".

"Why did you make that meeting! You lied to me," says Trai.

"I know but it had to be done. Besides, look at the bright side. Now we're going to gain more land, a better army, and God granting all these islanders the access to his Holyness. Just think of this as the Modern Crusades,".

"Fine. If you say so,' says Trai grumbling at his brother.

Pakxe Pact-Aeuria Combat Zone, Borneo

The Aeurian naval bombardment slammed into several Pact positions, devastating all vehicles caught in the blasts of the many munitions released. Inside a command tent, Major Mông Bâng was desperately contacted the Admiral of the Pact forces. "Admiral! Sir! We are in need of naval support. The Aeurians have-" another blast of naval artillery slammed into a nearby tank. "The Aeurians have begun a massive oceanic bombardment, and have devastated our position yet again. Is there any chance you could supply our own bombardment?"

Admiral Bamplanh Muoy sat comfortably in the CIC of his command vessel. "Affirmative Major. Your request has been pre-processed and we are ready to acquire hostile targets. Our artillery is aligning as we speak." The Admiral glanced at a screen behind him, before disabling the transmission for a short while.

The ships of the Pact fleet suddenly began their own bombardment, but not all towards the ground. As blasts smashed into Aeurian positions, a few overshooting and impacting cintetsed or even Pact ground, several long range missiles steamed through the air, heading towards the beloved positions of an Aeurian fleet.

The Major continued to view the battle. It was clear that Aeuria wanted this island, but it was just as clear that the Pact would not lose it without a very good fight. The battle was still chaos, with fire, smoke, blood and bullets visible across the entire battlefield, with destroyed tanks and
crashed jets littering the area.

TO APPROPRIATE OFFICIALS IN THE HIGH COMMAND OF THE MILITARY OF ALCASE:
The Vittoria-class aircraft carrier T.P.S. Vittoria currently has a flight of six (6) Aerlazzari AL205N fighters in the vicinity of a handful of radar signatures we believe to be your Rafales. Pilots of this flight Rambler 1, Rambler 2, and Rambler 4 all reported visual contact the last time they were radioed with what they described as Alcasian-marked Dassault Rafales. They were flying substantially higher than your aircraft and are currently on a mission to observe any and all activity in their vicinity. They have also achieved visual contact with a flight of unidentified Su-27 Flanker fighters, and reported they have just broken away and headed off due east. Rambler Flight is to be called back to the Vittoria shortly and will be replaced with four more patrols from the same ship and her two ancillary carriers Risoluto and Imperterrito.

We would request to closely work together with Alcasian forces to exercise more competent and comprehensive patrols to identify and hopefully halt these intruders. High Command is currently routing more of our forces from the western Mediterranean to the Vittoria and the Royal Army Air Force has been put on high alert in its bases along the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic Seas. With Alcase's cooperation Tuscany believes whatever it is we have going on in the Mediterranean can be quickly resolved and ended.

With your permission the captain of the Vittoria has requested to be wired the location of the Charles de Gaulle so that he can move his aircraft carrier and its accompanying task force nearer to it.

Bellini stared blankly out of his cargo plane's cockpit, looking at the desolate expanse of clouds, sky, and ocean before him. He blinked away the glaze over his eyes and adjusted his hat with a mighty yawn, his slumbering co-pilot barely stirring. He couldn't wait to hand off the controls back to him. Sleep would've been nice. His eyes began to glaze over again, sleep gently draping itself over his mind. The world started to grow dark and peaceful. It was...

Suddenly it was loud. The radio crackled to life abruptly, unexpectedly.

"Tosca fifty-five one, turn right heading two-five-one, uh, maintain altitude."

The dozing pilot shook his head awake and hesitated. Turn southeast? Why?

"We're redirecting you south," the radio continued. "Skirt around Indonesia on that heading and head for mainland Aeuria. Ensure you don't stray into Indonesia. Area is at high risk."

Don't ask questions, he repeated to himself. "Two-five-one, over."

Bellini's jet was soon southbound for Aeuria, as were the two jets behind him, with all thirteen hundred guns inside.

The Green Residence, Alexandria, 05/07/2015 17:30

It's a partly cloudy day, small beams of sunlight trying to escape the clouds like passengers try to escape a sinking ship. Not a bad simile, Alexander thinks to himself. Fitting for the momentous occasion it was. A small crowd materializes in front of the Green Residence, the President's personal manor. It's modest, and almost indistinguishable with the small buildings around it apart from the news vans that sit 24/7 around it. Whispers ripple across the audience. The war, the war, they say. It was almost at their borders with neighbors already showing interest in the brief but violent encounter. Violent protests wreck havoc in the nation, both Pro-Francophonie and Pro-Pact. This was the first time Alexander had made statements about a world event in months. He steps up to the podium and checks his microphone. All ready.

"My dearly beloved crowd, people, home." The crowd hushes. "I think we all know why we have gathered here today. To our West, an egotistical Aeurian leader who shall not be named recklessly invaded the Indonesian islands without obtaining an opinion from neither La Francophonie nor our ambassadors in those regions. As many Riverians like to point out, the Aeurians also share a direct border with us, and all of our neighbors are involved in this growing tantrum. All of them on the Aeurian side, all of them pushing into enemy lands. It is without question then, that the leader I mentioned earlier is likely wanking into a bottle of champagne in his mansion." A few of the Riverians got a the giggle out of this, and Alexander waited a few seconds before continuing.

"However, his barbaric methods have not gone unnoticed. As our stationed forces have pried from both the Pact and the Aeurians in the last few days, there seems to be suspicious and unreasonably high rates of terrorism in the Paxke region. Now, fellow brothers and sisters, I am aware this might be an influx of hatred towards the Pact after their war. But an increase of over 600% in militant activity in the region isn't something to stick your tongue out at. I draw the conclusion that a particular state, with a particular leader, is sponsoring terrorist attacks in the Pact. The Riverians do not support state-sponsored terrorism. Anyone who affiliates with it is a cretin and a societal menace. Even the Pact has it's limits. But the Aeurians do not. They strip more and more land from natives to power their war-hungry, pot-smoking populace. The populace likely doesn't even know a war is going on, and won't notice until it is months done and won. The citizens of The Great Warrior Rivers have shown the greatest concern, compassion, and rationalism in this event. And as I and the Riverian Council have decided, our nation will be undergoing a state-enforced boycott of Aeurian goods until such war crimes are not permitted in their administration. Our thoughts go out to the citizens of the Pact especially, who ave witnessed the horror of their Aeurian puppeteers." Alexander steps down from the podium and waves. They loved the speech, it was what they wanted to hear. They were roaring the President's name.

Karimata Strait, Indonesian Waters
As the Admiral watched the continuous firing of the 4th Fleet from the flight deck aboard the aircraft carrier and flagship of the 4th Fleet, the INS Lucas, he heard yelling behind him. As he put his head on his head in an effort to keep his hat from flying off his head due to the winds, several officers quickly ran towards him.

"What is it? Report." he ordered, turning his head back to watch the latest barrage of rockets fly from a nearby cruiser.

"Sir, we've detected inco-" the Captain was interrupted as explosions rocked the carrier, several striking nearby ships. The sudden and violent rocking of the carrier caused several jets to fall of the edge into the sea.

"Get off the flight deck! Scramble the jets!" the Admiral yelled as he quickly ran towards the command tower, servicemen getting out of his way. "And return fire!" he ordered finally before getting inside safely.

Several Aeurian ships were damaged beyond repair, their metal hulls ripped open as bright fires emanated from them with only 1 being sunk outright. As a contingent of both bombers and interceptors launched from the aircraft carriers en route to interfere with the Pact Fleet, several barrages of missiles and artillery were fired at the Pact Fleet before turning their attention back to Borneo. The Admiral had called for reinforcements from the 6th Fleet, currently North of Java. He also contacted central command, requesting additional support from the Air Force, both to eliminate the Pact Fleet and attack Borneo.

Imperial Palace, Pravelaidus
Aleksander sat in his freshly cleaned and furnished office, just settling into the new chair. Sir Charles lay atop his excessively large desk, within arms reach of the emperor, smoking a cigarette as he looked up at the vaulted, coffered ceiling. "When do you reckon we'll be able to actually step foot in Indoneisa?" he asked, turning his head to lock eyes with Aleksander as the monarch poured two glasses of gin. As he slid the glass towards his aide, he laughed.

"Well, as soon as the Pact has been beaten back into their hellhole of a country, I would say a few weeks. Borneo won't be declared safe for a while, even when the fighting's stopped." he said before taking a liberal sip from his glass. "Care for a smoke?" he asked as he opened a drawer.

Sir Charles looked at him, raising his cigarette slightly with a shake of his head as he grabbed the glass beside him.

"Not- no. I mean a smoke." Aleksander said as he stuck a joint between his lips.

"Oh. Yeah, fine, sure." he said as he sat up, sipping his gin.

As Aleksander exhaled a plume of foul-smelling smoke, he grinned as he passed the joint to Sir Charles who quickly began smoking it.

"Easy there, boy, it's not a race." Aleksander laughed, spinning his chair left and right, sipping his drink.

As Sir Charles reached his hand out to pass it back to His Majesty, the office doors suddenly opened. Aleksander sighed as he grabbed the joint, standing up and taking a drag. In walked, for the first time in days, a man who wasn't wearing a military uniform.

The man deeply bowed, standing silently halfway between the door and the stately desk.

"Yes?" the confused, and high, monarch asked, not recognizing the man.

"Lord Sol Ensoleil XI, from the Diplomatic Corps, Your Majesty." the man responded simply.

Aleksander took several more hits before walking around his desk, handing the joint to a spaced out Sir Charles. "Ah yes, the Sunchild!" he said with a laugh before his face wrinkled with confusion. "What are you doing here? War and savant diplomats don't usually mix - unless of course the Pact has surrendered?" he asked, a twinkle of hope in his voice.

"I'm afraid not, Sir. In fact, today I'm the bearer of bad news." replied the young, golden-haired diplomat.

The Emperor frowned. "Oh, very well, lay it on me." he said, turning around and snatching the joint from Charlie's mouth as he lay starting at the ceiling.

"Well," the usually eloquent diplomat began, clearing his throat. "It's the GWR."

"I thought you said bad news?"

"Indeed, Sir." replied Lord Ensoleil.

"Oh, well, go on then." Aleksander said, taking deep inhales of the joint.

"Well, their President has publicly condemned Aeuria, the war, and..." he hesitated. "You, Sir."

Aleksander choked on the smoke, going into a heavy coughing fit as he struggled to breath. After a minute of coughing and eye-wiping, Aleksander attempted to throw the joint at the diplomat, only managing to send it a meter ahead, exploding in embers as it hit the marble floor.

"What do you mean condemned?" Aleksander demanded in a strangely calm voice.

"Well, Sir, I have a manuscript of his speech right here." he said, pulling a sheet of paper from his suit jacket.

"Let's hear it then, come on." Aleksander said impatiently as he rolled Sir Charles across his desk, sitting down on the edge of it, facing Lord Ensoleil.

The diplomat read the speech, word for word to a stoned Aleksander. "And that's it. He was met with cheers." he said meekly after finishing the attack of a speech.

Aleksander began giggling. "You hear that, Charlie? 'War-hungry and pot-smoking, egotistical, terrorists'! I don't think I've ever been so flattered!" he said with a giggle. "But he was wrong about one thing, I don't wank. I have Charlie for that!" he said, prodding his high aide in the ribs. Sir Charles laughed and accidentally rolled off the desk, onto the hard floor. A meek "ow" was heard.

"Your Majesty, these are very serious allegations and accusations. Not to mention he's painted our populace as apathetic and detached." Lord Ensoleil said, approaching the desk.

"Yeah, so? It's not the first time I've been criticized. And what are they gonna do? Boycott us, right? Ohhhhh no, whatever shall we do now that our goods can't get into the GWR?" he cried sarcastically. "That will hardly affect us, it's not like we're exactly dependent on foreign trade to keep this gilded island afloat." he boasted, motioning to the ornate architecture of the room.

Lord Ensoleil sighed heavily. "Should we at least put out a statement?"

"No, of course not. We don't reply to such baseless accusations and defamation. In fact, I want more troops in Ecuador. And send word to Louis, he should reinforce his border with them." he said, lighting a cigarette.

"Sir, that will only be throwing fuel onto the fire!" protested Lord Ensoleil.

"I did not ask your opinion, Sunchild. Now do as I have asked." Aleksander said dismissively as he turned his back, walking behind his desk.

"Of course, Your Majesty." the man said with another deep bow. "Sir Charles." he said with a nod before walking out of the room.

"Buzzkill!" screamed Sir Charles with a laugh as the doors closed shut, Aleksander joining him in laughter.

Hanyang National Council Building - Meeting Hall

"THEY DID WHAT?!" The Empress shouted, fuming over the report as the meeting hall was filled with anyone who was relevant and in Hanyang at the time. Thankfully, the majority of Councilors were in town due to a National Council Session to be held in a few weeks. However, it wasn't a traditional meeting and hence, in traditional Neo-Joseon fashion, the Council devolved into a match of shouting, curses, and accusations. It was a miracle a fight hadn't yet broken out. News had just reached them about the bombardment by Aeuria and the counterattack by the Pact.

The Councilor who delivered the message winced, "Yes your Highness, if this situation continues, especially if the Aeurians emerge victorious in this conflict, we may experience severe tensions in our administrative zones."

Empress Ye-Jin sighed and put her head in her hands while Prime Minister Min Yun Hye, a well known liberal and outspoken critic of Neo-Joseon's imperialism and trade, took the opportunity to take the floor in what limited time she had before the council devolved yet again.

"See," she started as Ye-Jin gave another hefty sigh, "This is what we should expect if we continue to advance further south and continue our dogmatic imperialism without any regard for other nations. We need to establish strong diplomatic relations with both Aeuria and the Paxke Pact, and assist in any way we can!"

Some Councilors muttered in agreement while others took potshots at the plan both rationally and using a generous amount of ad hominem arguments. Ye-Jin took the time to silence them. While she was a commoner and at one point, very weak, she had since become a very good politician due to the Emperor being so regularly absent. And part of that was commanding respect and fear amongst the unruly Councilmen.

"No, we will condemn Aeuria and incentivize businesses to shift to the Paxke Pact. Now that Mongolia is soon to be taken, we definitely have a trade advantage. And if Aeuria continues aggressive actions in the Indochina Sea, businesses definitely would not risk sending ships down that region."

"Take a note," the Empress ordered to one of the many secretaries lining the front of the council chambers.

COMMUNIQUE OF THE GREATER NEO-JOSEON EMPIRE: IN REGARDS TO THE AEURIA-PACT WAR

The Empress of Neo-Joseon, by the power vested in her by the people of Neo-Joseon, the Emperor, and the merit of her being hereby do declare that Aeuria is to be condemned for their actions. As aggressors of this conflict, the world must expect Aeuria to pay reparations to those whose lives have been destroyed due to their senseless imperialism, which served as the catalyst for a conflict spanning the Old World.

Furthermore, businesses are encouraged to begin trade with the Paxke Pact in order to strengthen both nations as well as assist the Pact in rebuilding for damages caused by the war.

All Hail Joseon

The Empress saw the message being transmitted to major news stations all over the world. She sighed and addressed a Councilman who she knew had close ties with General Min in the Philippines. "And for the love of Christ, reinforce the Philippine border. Tell Min not to be stupid."

Council Chambers, 19:42

It was quick transporting Alexander from the Residence to the Chambers. He took a back alleyway so others couldn't see. After a drive through the fair city of Alexandria, the President enters the Neo-Classical government center with strides. His bodyguards flank him as he makes his appearance through the large wooden doors. The halls echo with his presence. When he enters the Chambers themselves, they are abuzz with activity.

"Oh! Finally! Things have been rather shite since your speech, sir." Councilman Gifford exclaims. Alexander was slightly shocked to see his presence, as he was co-jointly a Councilman and the Secretary of Defense.

"What is of attention, brother?" Alexander pleads to his lesser partner.

"The Aeurians." He calls up a projection of noticeable naval movement near Oceania. Satellite imaging has spotted massive blips in the Pacific heading straight for the Ecuadorian coast.

"We can only imagine what those must be! Pah! They think their navy frightens me! The Riverians have a history of naval tradition," Alexander scoffs. "I want the Riverian Navy to blockade Ecaudor and most sure nothing gets in or on that piece of land. Is this logistically possible?" Alexander turns his attention to the Council and speaks loud enough for all to hear. "I also want every state-sponsored act of Aeurian terrorism in the Pact televised, radioed, and posted everywhere! The people of the world must not be blind to this! Make them care!" He notes the Secretary of the Media and Councilman Gifford scurrying out of the room to make phone calls.

Quito, Imperial Ecuador
The Viceroy's palace was filled with military officers, a most unusual occurrence. Each officer clamored for His Excellency's attention as he quickly made his way through the halls to the War Room. After a long, and loud, walk, he finally settled into the large conference room. Around him sat Aeurian Generals and Admirals.

Viceroy Fairfax, Emperor Aleksander's first cousin, sighed heavily as he stuck a cigarette in his mouth. "Let's hear it then." he said to a General who stood up, looking down at a report.

"Well, Your Excellency, it seems that the Riverians are trying to set up a blockade around our coast." he began, the Viceroy looking down at a copy of the report. "Now, we've requested this meeting bec-"

"Hold on, hold on." Viceroy Fairfax interrupted. "Did I hear you right? The Riverians are trying to blockade us?"

"That is correct, Sir." replied the General.

"Hm. Well, that won't do. That won't do at all. Mobilize the Fleet, and fire upon any Riverian vessel who attempts a blockade. Make the army battle ready. Inform the Ensoleilletatans, we'll need their help if this blows up. Whether the Riverians want to recognize it or not, this is an act of war and I will not have it!" the Viceroy screamed as he slammed a fist against the table.

"Sir, His Majesty has instructed us not to engage Riverian forces. He has no desire to open a theater of war in South America." the General said weakly, knowing the Viceroy would be angry.

"What are we supposed to do then? Just let them blockade us? Unacceptable. I want that idiot of a President of theirs on the phone, in my office, now!" he yelled as he stood up, storming out of the room, leaving the Generals and Admirals with shocked looks on their faces.

Official Statement of the Mascarogan Government in regards to the Aeurian-Pact conflict

The nation of Mascargo, led by her king Stanis IV Andropov hereby condemns all actions of the Pakxe Pact, which as been known to support terrorism previously. As a primary participant in acts of terrorism across the world, especially at Malkovad, the Pact must be made to understand the sanctity of human life, even if through war and bloodshed.

The nation supports the actions of Aeuria in restoring peace to Indonesia and restoring her historic colonies to a position of economic and military security against the neighboring Pact. Mascargo views Aeuria as brothers-in-arms, and declares their absolute support for the conflict against the Pact as well as the subsequent occupation of Indonesia.

Long live Emperor Aleksander,
King Stanis IV Andropov
Ministry of Diplomacy

Orgovgrad, Mascrgo
The Ruby Palace

Stanis stood around a table in the conference room, his son Levin and various high-ranking officials in the MDF staring at a battle map of Indonesia. Stanis listened to their arguments, involving the careful positioning of the two corps being sent to fight in Indonesia.

"That's possibly the most foolish thing I've ever heard General! We should attack immediately and reinforce the Aeurians, not wait."

"Why are we even helping them, why not just cut off both of their heads in one swift blow. I say mobilize the entire nation!"

"And what? Ship over all of our troops to fight Aeuria and the Pact at once, when they have the home advantage."

Stanis clanked his ceremonial sword upon the table, making a startling noise that crashed the discussions immediately. "No! We will not be betraying Aeuria. I have declared our undying support, and I will not go against my final word." He looked at the officers, shaking his head. "Pathetic! You are supposed to be the best military minds we have." He looked to his left, seeing his son bent over the map and studying it. "What say you Levin? Might you be smarter than these fools many times your age?"

"Father, I believe that our best course of action is to not directly engage the Pact at Borneo. The Aeurians can't risk losing ground, but neither can we. Assisting them in holding the border is many times more safer and logical for us." Stanis nodded, seemingly in agreement when he heard the door behind him open. He turned, expecting a diplomat or officer to bring a message. Instead it was Anna, his young daughter.

"Anna, what are you doing here? The war room is no place for women."

"Of course," Anna walked forward. "It's never the place for anyone but you father. I dare not intrude, but merely wish to add an opinion." One of the generals behind the table laughed uncontrollably, another condescendingly scolding her.

"A woman in military stratagem? Ridiculous." Stanis quickly turned around, his sword outstretched to the general's neck.

"I bid you watch your tongue around me and my daughter, sir. I will not have any insults levied at my family while I am present, less it be the headsmen for you." Stanis turned around to his daughter, pulling her aside. "Anna, I want you to go back inside the palace. This is no place for a woman like you."

"What is that supposed to mean father?"

"You should be practicing painting! Or singing, or songwriting! Perhaps learn an instrument? Something of the sorts!"

"Why, so that I might be a better royal mare for you to pawn off?"

"You watch your voice around-"

"Enough with the threats father, you know I don't care. I wanted to help with the strategy."

"But you don't even-"

"From my understanding, you want to send two corps of troops to Indonesia to assist Aeuria, but you don't know exactly what strategy to use them for. It's imperative that we make use of our citizen's morale and strike directly into the heart of the Pact's line. The Aeurians can hold the border while our two corps attack directly from the western side of Borneo. This would allow us to be extremely aggressive, but not risk our gains in Sumatra."

"Have... a... why, that's actually incredibly bright." Stanis looked quite the fool, staring at his militarily illiterate daughter, who had just proposed an idea better than his entire war cabinet combined. He grabbed Anna's hand and turned around, both of them coming back to the table. "Alright, I've got news everyone. Besides Levin, you're all fired!"

"What?!"

"You heard me. Now, you've got five minutes to pack your bags before I have you all shot. I'm not joking, get the hell out!" Stanis watched them scramble for the door, laughing. He looked back to Anna, now quite interested in her idea. "Please, tell me what you proposed again Anna."

"Sure thing father."

Council Chambers, Alexandria

A carrier enters the room with a telephone. "Mr. President!" he exclaims, "It's for you!"

Alexander laughs a hearty laugh and takes the phone graciously from the young lad.

"You've reached Alexander Eugene Boyei, leader of the free world. I'm busy right now with a pest control problem. Would you like to arrange an appointment?" Alexander mocks the other other side of the line, holding the receiving end farther away in anticipation of the response.

"Cute. Very cute, President Boyei." the Viceroy said venomously, knuckles turning white as he clenched his fist in an attempt to keep his anger controlled. "I would advise you think before your ships move another inch. How do you see this ending? The Empire backing down because we've been boycotted and blockaded? Brave men are giving their lives for the Empire in Borneo as we speak. Aeuria does not back down from a fight, especially not one we've started." he said slowly smoking a cigarette. "So you blockade my colony. What's your plan for when the Aeurian Fleets arrive? Firing upon them? Need I remind you that you have not only Imperial Ecuador on your border, but Ensoleilletat as well. King Louis would jump through hoops if it made Aleksander happy, he sure as hell won't hesitate to invade if we request it." he said threateningly.

He stood up, looking out on the city as he did. "Now, Boyei, I want you to think about what I'm about to ask you very carefully, because the lives of your countrymen are on the line." he said calmly. "Do you really want to anger His Majesty? Do you think even for a moment that He would not hesitate to protect His colonies? His cousin? I know you to be an intelligent man, yet you're playing a very dangerous, very foolish game Mr. President." he said matter-of-factually as he returned to his seat. "I would hope you have thought your plans through, otherwise you could be making a very, very big mistake."

Royal Army begins mobilization
May 7, 2015
RBSnews.com

FIRENZE, Tuscany-Piedmont - An official statement was made by the Ministry of the Military today that both branches of the military, Army and Navy, would immediately begin a full and comprehensive process of mobilizing up to the point of wartime readiness. The specific reason was undisclosed, but growing tensions around the world were cited as well as 'fears that nearby areas or the Kingdom itself' could soon be threatened by outside forces. The Ministry said that 'the best defense is one that is prepared to go on the offense' and figures across the political spectrum have been speculating on what exactly this means. Several have pointed out that this declaration comes just shortly after rumors of a scandal within the government's top ranks and an alleged crisis in the Mediterranean Sea.

King Cesare II made a speech shortly afterward detailing his support and authorization for the Ministry's actions, and along with his sister Fabrizia thee two are largely suspected to be the driving forces behind the act. In his speech he referred to a "golden age for the Italians" and implied solidarity for the Francophone nations in the term 'romance peoples'. He roused up a great response in his statements on the allegedly oppressed status of ethnic Italians in nearby nations, saying this in his speech:

"...we see around us, in this tempestuous, warring world, an unsafe environment for our people and our culture in many places. Even in countries that border us, ethnic Italians are being oppressed and treated like second-class citizens for no crime other than speaking their own language- our language. The only way to safeguard ourselves against this atmosphere of toxicity towards the romance nations of the world is through strength of arms and sureness of spirit..."

What will happen next remains to be seen, and little further information has come from the capitol.

Unsubstantiated reports have filtered in of Army troops amassing on the northern borders with Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia under the cover of night. Some fears are growing among locals in the provinces of Lombardia, Venezia, and Friuli as to what this could mean, but patriotic spirit runs high in the rest of the population, particularly in the cities. A rally was held in Roma in support of the monarchy after the statement was made, and was met with minor resistance from a local reformist association, leading to police intervention. Similar events have been seen in the capital of Firenze, as well as the cities of Genova and Milano.

---

The Palazzo Vecchio

Cesare rubbed his chin in thought as he pored over a freshly printed and laminated world map. He was deep within the Palace now, again only accompanied by a small group of advisers; Princess Fabrizia, Chancellor Durante, and three new additions- Chief of the Military Minister Giulio Ardenno, and the heads of the Navy and Army, Admiral Antonia Sarto and General Lodovico Zino. All were gathered around a large, wooden table, with the map at its center. Much had happened in a very short amount of time. Fabrizia had suddenly come to Cesare with a plan, Cesare had thought about that plan, and then presented it to the military's High Command. They liked the plan quite a bit too, revised the plan, announced they were preparing for the plan (but not the plan itself, as that would be entirely out of form) and now here they were here discussing the general, broad strokes of the plan.

Zino laid a finger just south of Switzerland. "The First Army Command Precinct will gather here." He moved his finger to the right, under Austria. "The Second Here," he said, sliding the finger over to Slovenia, "And the Third Here. We expect little resistance. It will be like a fire sweeping across grass. Excellent practice and a show of real force to boot. I imagine the Alps will be difficult, but its nothing we can't surmount. We have more than enough Alpini units for the job." His finger traced back down the peninsula to Central Italy. "And the Fourth and Fifth will remain here on standby."

Cesare looked to Sarto, who spoke promptly in response. "The Navy will begin increased patrols in the Mediterranean as part of increased 'readiness exercises' and maintain a small presence in the east Atlantic."

The King nodded, satisfied, before looking to Ardenno. "We shouldn't begin too soon. We need to rile up more support at home first. We'll have to ride those high spirits throughout the duration of whatever this all leads to. I doubt things will be very quiet." Minister Ardenno nodded. "Indeed we will, your majesty. We will see that is done over the course of the near future."

"Excellent. We'll contact Alcase soon when more of this is properly planned out and the pieces start falling into place. Aeuria too. Provided they don't come to us first."

"Such loveable little sneaky bastards they are."

The Presidential Estate Ikulu, in the jungle surrounding the city of Bangui, Central African State, Central African Republic
Image
The personal study of President Chinua Ogechukwukana

Sitting quietly on the couch in his private study, the most powerful person in the Central African Republic, President Chinua Ogechukwukana, took a sip from a glass of red wine that had been aging in the presidential cellars since the time of Tutekumbo. At the moment he was bored out of his mind reading an incredibly dry financial report that had been sent to his office by some obscure employee of the Secretary of the Treasury’s office who has been stapling documents together and mailing them out since before Chinua was born. The report was nothing spectacular, but as President Chinua was obliged to read all reports filed to his office, no matter who they came from.

Meanwhile, outside in the peaceful halls of Ikulu General Ikumba Sharik was on a warpath to the quiet haven of the president. Blazing past the secretary posted to keep unwanted visitors out of the study Sharik flings open the doors and stomps into the room. “Mr. President, I am afraid I have some qualms to take up with you! Have you seen the latest reports? I sent them to your office several times. How would I know if you had seen them, though? You never responded to a single one of my telegrams!”

At the second that Sharik burst into the room Chinua had set the report he had been reading down on the coffee table in front of him. As the older man let loose on him he simply sat in one place the entire time with his legs crossed and his face set with a neutral expression. At the conclusion of the general’s verbal onslaught the president sat in silence for a few moments, and then took a sip of his wine. “Do you have anything else to add, Ikumba? Or may I speak without you interrupting me?” Chinua said in his calm, soothing voice that swayed much of the populace to rank him highly.

Visibly shaken by the calm demeanor of the figure opposing him General Sharik shifts awkwardly where he stands. Having been a military man all his life Sharik was not used to being greeted with grace after unleashing a tirade. He realized that he was obviously outmatched here, and he understood now why the Joint Chiefs never confronted the president without some backup. Finally, after a long pause, the general says through gritted teeth, “no, Mr. President, that is all. You may speak your mind.”

Smiling, Chinua stands up, “so, the Alcasiens and Aeurians are pounding on the shores and assaulting the native people of our continent to the West and South? I ask you why should we get involved? Now, that’s a rhetorical question. I know the answer. They’re vile people, these invaders. The pasts of their nations are filled with colonies and cruelty. Our nation managed to fend off the colonial grasp of these old world powers, though, and we thrived. We rose from the dirt of tribal society and we now stand as one of the most powerful nations on the planet. We are the only nation that managed to do that. These Europeans and European-minded Oceanians took land in the past that they had no right to. Did we retaliate then? No, we did not, because we were not strong enough. We are strong enough now to make a stand against these invaders, these hostile species that attempt to overrun our environment and call it their own. So why do we not retaliate now? We’re too smart, Ikumba. Sure, we could possibly push back against the Alcasiens for a brief period of time, but with Francophonie forces to back them up we’d be done for in the long run. So what do we do? Should we lie down and watch rich native cultures fall to imperial scum, culture that are just recovering from being in the stranglehold of the same colonial overlords. Yes, I have read your reports, general. No, I do not think that sending large amounts of troops into the land currently being occupied is a good idea. Tell me, how many troops have been sent to the border to follow protocol in situations like this?”

Mesmerized by the president’s suave, smooth voice it takes Shakir several moments to realize he had been asked a question, and several more for him to come up with the answer. “In accordance with protocol there are currently 350,000 troops at the western border and 550,000 at the southern border. The number of troops along the northern and eastern borders has also been increased by 15%.”

“Good, that’s good. So we have a buffer between the vital organs of our nation and the forces just off our doorstep. I assume people are fleeing the Alcasien and Aeurian forces, how many refugees has our nation taken in since the invasion started?” The president says this complacently, clearly trying to get somewhere in the conversation to make a point.

“From the south we’ve taken in around 80,000 refugees, mostly militiamen fleeing for their own safety. From the west there’s been about 45,000, some militiamen from over there, but most women and children.”

“You say militiamen, are they armed?”

“They’re stripped off their weapons before being allowed into the country, Mr. President, but we do keep all that we take in storage.”

“Arm the fighters that have come across our borders with better weapons and send them back into the fray.” Despite the gravity of this order the President says it with remarkable calmness.

General Sharik is taken aback by this and cannot believe what he says heard, after a moments recovery he stutters out. “Excuse me, Mr. President? Arm them and send them back?”

“Yes. Can’t you hear? I’m sure the Alcasiens will be somewhat suspicious, but they’ll probably just assume that the men just bought weapons from those capitalistic Tuscans; make sure to give them second-rate weapons, though. That’ll make the ruse more believable.”

“Ok, and one more thing, Ikumba.”

With a gulp the general nervously replies, “yes, Mr. President?” Now, Sharik is not scared of the president. He towers over the man by nearly a foot and has well over eighty pounds on the young man. Despite the how decorated the president is in boxing and wrestling the general could still put up a fair fight. No, he is simply intimidated by the ideas of the president. They are risque. They are not what past presidents would have ordered. They are ahead of the times when Sharik is already living in the past.

“Only send armed militiamen back to the south. Send 15,000 Central African troops into the northern section of Benin not currently occupied by Alcasiens.”

“Mr. President, why on earth would we do that? The Alcasiens will view it as a hostile act!”

“You’re right, they would, but we can prevent that. You said that most of the refugees from the west were women and children. They must be fleeing for some reason. So, we fabricate that reason. The militiamen that are fleeing the Alcasien forces in Benin traveled north and started pillaging villages, raping women, and killing men. We are simply moving troops in to stop these atrocities. Do you understand, Sharik?”

“Yes, yes, I do Mr. President. I do not like these decisions, though. They are bad choices, Mr. President.”

With a smile the president responds sincerely, “don’t you think I know that, Ikumba? But in bad times those are the only decisions a person can make.”

And with that the conversation devolved into pleasantries and goodbyes. After the general had left the study of the president and peace had returned to the room the president finished the report he had been reading earlier. He then started to read it again because it was the perfect material to waste time reading when one was waiting for a phone call on the details of troop movements.

"Viceroy. Take a look at all of your pretty, colorful strategic maps. Yeah? Where's all the oil? And can you explain to me how you can make your military, navy, and air force not run on the oil that is in Ecuador and Venezuela? Can you also make them fly? Aéroport international Cardinal Bernadin Gantin de Cotonou, Benin

"Alright, so men, here's the plan: We're gonna send in some fighters to take out some militiamen that have just taken up arms in the north. That's gonna be your jobs, Lt. Du Bois and Lt. Acord," the Col. instructed to his pilots, staring them down while pacing in front of a white board with the battle plans. "They've been wavering for the past few weeks, but there's still a huge pocket of resistance in Benin, for some reason. They've got ... well ... better guns than us, it seems. Anyways, we're gonna go ahead and bomb their locations, try not to hit any civilians, we're trying to get on their good sides." The Colonel signaled to his men to leave, prompting the sporatic rising of the two relatively new pilots.

"Oh man!" Lt. du Bois begins, just as their stepping out of the barracks, "our first mission! in l'Afrique!"

"Hey man, you heard the big guy... it's not big deal, just dealing with a bunch of ruff-housers - we're literally the janitors of the Naval Force..."

As the two lieutenants approached their Dassault Rafales, they heard a younger sailor yelling good luck, shaking their hands as they climbed the jet fighters. The pilots were put through their pre-launch preparations by HQ, and eventually, ordered to launch.

HQ: "Lafayette 1, how copy?"

L1: "Good copy, HQ"

HQ: "Lafayette 2, how copy?"

L2: "Good copy, HQ"

HQ: "Prop systems? check. Countermeasures? check. Assault systems? check. Flight processes? check. Cabin pressure? check. HUD? check. All ready?"

L1 and L2: "Yes, HQ"

HQ: "Alright, you're ready for takeoff ... on three ... one ... two ... three! go!"

Just as Command ordered go, the Rafales take off, reaching takeoff speed relatively faster than before.

----one hour later---

L1: "HQ, we're right above the Foret de l'Oueme Superieur, is this the right location?"

HQ: "One sec ... confirming ... ... ... That's it, men. We're highlighting the estimated target locations on your HUD, do you see it?"

The HUD flashes yellow, then brings up a yellow square, highlighting about twenty positions around the preservation areas.

L1: "We got it. Permission to engage?"

HQ: "Permission granted. Once you've got them taken out, return to base immediately and make sure you get into the barracks command room for debrief. Good hunting, Rafales!"

L1 and L2: "Good copy."

With the simple clicks of red buttons, the pilots fire silos of around thirty Air-to-Surface missiles, locking their laser-guided projectiles right at the yellow boxes on the ground.

L2: "Alright, du Bois, I think that's it ... HQ ain't highlight anymore targets, let's go home."

The jet pair begin travelling east, hoping to circumvent the possible threat of friendly Surface-to-Air missile defenses that the Aeurians have placed in the middle of Benin.

Angola and South Africa

Following intense fighting in the Namib desert, most of the Angolans and Namibians have surrendered to the Aeurian forces. In hopes that the war can be drawn to a close as soon as possible, communications have been made reaching to the leaders of the Angolan and South African nations for peace talks.

The Viceroy stood, beginning to pace his office. "Now, you have some gall to accuse the Empire of terrorism, boy. I would hope you would have irrefutable evidence that would prove such ridiculous allegations before making them, or is this another blunder on your part?" he finished venomously.
