(Mainly @OMG) So, in terms of naval power, what kinds of ship can you imagine Japan deploying? Dreadnoughts? I've already mentioned at least one dreadnought in the Japanese navy in my factbook, but I can edit it, if you don't think Japan has the capability to produce dreadnoughts. Most of the information I have on Japanese warships suggest they were foreign-made, and concentrate primarily on WW2.

Basically, what NN said. If you want big ships, you'll have to either buy existing ones or get somebody else to build 'em.

Here is a useful source for stats and a little other info on pre-WWII era warships, along with a number of later ships as well.

Remember that Japan is, basically, a year 3000 nation. They have very little of the advanced technology out there for most everybody else, most Japanese citizens live in a manner which Russian serfs would think is outdated and quaint. Their army is mostly equipped with firearms, artillery and jets, and their industry is based on old-style, that is, not using claudia, fuels, and even then such industry is probably quite rare, since, in total isolation, it's hard to import fuels and other things Japan is rather poor in.
Which also means Japan is probably the #1 polluter on Earth :P

An advanced robotics industry is possible for Japan, just keen in mind the Japanese definition of 'advanced' is about three hundred years behind everybody else. They're probably still busy gawking at how awesome everything is now and how much they want shiny boomsticks like everybody else has now, relying chiefly on large and highly motivated military forces to achieve the sort of successes they had against French colonial forces and the Chinese. Neither of which, I should say, would be very formidable.

Thanks. You, too, NN. Also, the robotics mention was a nod to RL Japan's technology industries, and also a bit of background for my plan to use Japanese samurai power armour (what, I couldn't resist!). Seems you found my Factbook yourself, then. :p

Hey I have a question

If you have been paying attention to the Manifest Destiny thread you may have notice that I was about to fire a Experimental weapon. My question is , Would this work.

My plan was to use all my jump drives to open a jump gate in the middle of the American cruiser, this would have most likely cut the cruiser in half, leaving the back half in our universe and sending the front half into the alternate universe I use for FTL (shorter travel times), the front half (if the crew suvived the depressurisation) would be trapped in this universe (due to lack of a sutible jump drive), most likely the crew would be stuck there forever, they could get lucky and hit a natural jump point which would randomly drop them off somewhere in the galaxy (possible in a star or planet)

so would this be fair/possible in the E:E universe

If it was fired back at me?

It would cut the ship in half still, the half that got sent through would probably be able to pull itself back through if the crew survived the decompresserisation and if the warp engine went along with the front of the ship. Otherwise it would be in the same situation as the American cruiser.

There is also a slight chance that the weapon would backfire and create a temporary blackhole that would suck anything nearby (including planets) into it.

And seeing as this isn't a projectile or energy weapon it would probably bypass shields

Seems a but too 'super' for my taste, being unstoppable like that...but hey, I'm not the only one here.

Hell, If you want to use your 'experimental weapon', then be prepared to lose it...
People don't tend to let others keep their superweapons for very long, resulting in them teaming up against the 'superweapon' guy...a bit like what's happening on the RP.

Guaranteed one-hit-kill weapons are baaaaaaaaaaad.

Not to mention that something like that would be hard to do if he had shields up and all that.

And, of course, you'd need his consent to use such a weapon.

Ya I was kind of just fleshing it out (and France stepped in to stop it)

As for its ability to bypass shields I did say it only might be able to, seeing as that seems to meet the most resistance I will change that.

As for the one hit kill thing well by the time I can use it the ship would have needed to lose its shields (meaning its prettymuch screwed already)

and its not like I pulled this out of thin air, its just turning my jump system into a projectile weapon, I could get the same results by ramming a ship and opening the jump gate.

ha ha agreed shoulda done that but meh atm the fighting has finished and other nations are getting involved, a quick had and diplomacy will get you land now. There are about 5 coloniseble planets Eden which i am currently in control of apportion of until some one else either rushes people top the surface or manges to sweet talk me into letting you land and set up your own colony. OT has some what landed on New Pacific by now an ice planet i will say the first planet and the planet orbiting after new pacific are volcanic planets.

So yeh Pretty pleases or quick manoeuvring will get you land now. and Dutch im open to negotiations, i was tbh from the start hoping you'd just ask lol

Looks mostly good, however, I would prefer that people waited to adopt the 'subcosmo' idea until I've used it in battle (with or against) another EE state. As of right now, it's seen action once, half a galaxy away from Earth and is still considered a highly secret project by the Russians.

I'll get around to making some changes to the player list now.
