Could I have kinetic shields concealed in the fez (plural) of my officers? That would be awesome.

i would think not, it would require a large kinetic armor suit that would have a generator built in. Inside a fez maybe it could deter a small handgun, not a linear accelerator.

@Anatolia
Provided you don't get into a major conflict, the Russian Empire wouldn't really care. If things started to heat up, though, Nicky would definitely have to send a sharply worded letter to the Sultan. Something along the lines of "get the hell out of there before you get us all killed, you half-turk dog."
:P

@America
Nobody cares what some piddling third-rate nation does. At least until they become a piddling first-rate nation and start kicking peoples asses. ;)

@Anatolia/Others on the fez thing
It would be possible to fit a personal-sized kinetic shield into a fez, but it would be rather heavy. To the point where, if it were to fall off, you might seriously inconvenience somebodies toes. Consider that a battalion-sized generator fits into a backpack.

Unless you mean void shields, which are tougher, but require far more lifting power to move about.

@Dbrought
There's a fairly strong rule that people aren't allowed to attack NPC states, and a pretty much ironclad rule that you can't take over an NPC state's home territory. The only reason people get to take the Italian colonies is because he dropped in the middle of a war, for example.

I'd prefer they were cleared with me first, but you can invent new things and all that. It's just that they have to conform to the theme.

EDIT:
And just so people know, I'm currently in the process of moving and there's some confusion with the internet. Apparently some genius canceled it the day we moved out of our rental and didn't bother getting it set up for the new house over the weekend.

So currently the only place I can access the internet is the local community college, the ONLY place in town with public wifi. Huzzah.

C'mon guys. I know I can't be on much at the moment but things shouldn't just die if I'm not here to prod people along. And I really don't like nuking people for inactivity.

Dang.

I was hoping to supress Italy by turning it into 4-5 different other nation run states.

Venice, however, is fair game if he decides to dispute the Abyssinian claim. I'm sure Eurasia would just love to have some new seafront property ;)

I think OMG might be okay if the alliance we are setting up installs a puppet government in Italy. It wouldn't make sense for us to just pull out and leave it as it was and a puppet government can easily be removed or changed by anyone who wishes to take control of the nation. Of course OMG would have to sign off on such.

Tech question: ballistas in space?

The Ottomans fund various corsairs, giving them old weapons and ships (galleys in space!) in return for news of the galaxy they pick up, and a share of loot gathered. Think state-sponsored piracy with almost no oversight.

Anyway, these galleys are open-deck, the air held in via magnetic shielding. The main weapons are ballistas, which look like old ballistas, but shoot missiles (AMRAAM-sized). The missiles have small anti-matter warheads. The launcher shoots them at hypervelocity speeds like a railgun.

Thoughts?
