Erta's government is glad to tell other nations about themselves. Erta is a presidential democracy where elections are held every 5 years. The next election is scheduled to be in 1975. Currently, the dominant political party is the Social Democratic Party of Erta (SDPE). It is officially a center-left party. Economically, it calls for very high corporate taxes, and very large private corporations are prohibited. Socially, the party is very libertarian, LGBT marriage is 100% legal and transgenders have legal recognition, soft drugs are legalized and hard drugs are approved for medical use and are decriminalized to varying extents, minorities are protected, tribal and other indigenous people have great autonomy, and the environment is harshly protected. The party is also secular, as they have to rule a country split almost evenly into Christians and Muslims.

Erta has several ethnic groups, with the main ones being the Tigrinya, the Tigre, and the Afar. The Tigrinya and Tigre tend to be Christian, while the Afar tend to be Muslim. There are several official languages, which are Tigrinya, Tigre, Arabic, Afar, and English. The national - but not necessarily official - language is Tigrinya and is the most widely spoken.

Erta's economy is relatively diversified, with services, agriculture, and industry having almost equal shares of the economy. Manufacturing has been booming lately due to adopting less isolationist policies by the government. The main crops are teff (the exporting of which has been banned by the government to help protect food security), millet, wheat, and many fruits and vegetables. Livestock are considered less important than crops, but they are also significant. Production and consumption of poultry is much higher than that of red meat. Fishing is also prevalent in the coastal areas.

Erta's armed forces at the moment largely consist of volunteers, with most of the maximum amount of personnel including reserves and conscripts. They intend to be used for defensive purposes only. Erta would like to avoid war with any nations by resolving disagreements peacefully. Erta will make great efforts in avoiding war, but we also expect others to make an effort.
