In This Dark Frontier... [Dead]

Postby Felmaan » Thu Mar 12, 2015 8:14 pm

Location: Republic of Felmaan Territory.
System: Ezaer
Planet: Aal'ani

Over Aal'ani, dozens of Felmaani ships fly about. From civilian freighters, to military Destroyers, even the station Aal'ani, the heavens are filled with action. However, there is a large area that is void of any ships, save for the destroyers, Dawn of Rebirth and Dark Hunter...

Onboard Dawn of Rebirth

"Lieutenant Bakers! Is the exclusion zone clear of any ships, not counting Rebirth and Hunter?" Called out a rather feminine voice. "Aye Captain Aldo'rish! All ships have cleared the 50km zone!" returned a young human Lieutenant. "We have been given permission to commence the drill Ma'am!" Aldo'Rish nodded at the lieutenant and faced towards the viewing monitor, which currently had Dark Hunter in its view. "Very well" started the Captain. She looked towards the weapons officer. "On my command if you will, Mister Preston. The civilians on the ground are expecting to see something rather entertaining." With a small grin and flick of her tail, she faced back towards the monitor once again. She stood there, silently for a moment before nodding to Preston. "He quickly pressed a button on his console opening a channel to the entire ship. "All hands, to combat stations! Repeat, all hands to combat stations!" He began to press buttons on his console unlocking the safeties on the weapons systems, preparing for when they were to be fired by the crew. Seconds passed before Preston looks up towards the captain. "Ma'am, all main cannons are reporting they are ready to begin firing. Shall I give them their target?" Aldo'Rish nods, and Preston begins sending target orders to the cannon crews. "All guns have their targets and are lined up Captain." He looks towards the captain for further orders. "Fire all guns!" Seconds later, four cannons let loose their deadly payloads towards the Hunter. Upon impact, they pierce into the ship and explode the insides, causing bright orange and yellow streaks to erupt from the hull. The ship rips in half, and a number of smaller, less intense explosions occurs throughout the ship.

"Well, I would call that a successful test of the new ship. Give the order to stand-" Aldo'rish is interrupted by a beeping noise from a console near the back. "C-Captain! We're getting strange readings... It... It looks like something is jumping into system. I'm not seeing any scheduled arrivals for another day!" Captain Aldo'rish walks over to see the reported readings, and looked concerned for a moment. "Alert all ships in the area to be on guard, especially the other four destroyers. We don't know who this could be... Go ahead and keep the guns online, just in case our visitors are not friendly. Oh, and page First Officer Darik. He is late." She returned to her seat, and looked at the viewing cameras, awaiting the arrival of... whoever this was.

Greetings, from the Republic of Felmaan. This is a message to any other civilization out there. We are interested in expanding our knowledge of the universe around us, and meeting other new civilizations. Should you be interested in further contact, please feel free to make your way to the coordinates that will be included within the signal. We await meeting you.

For hundreds of years, this message has been broadcasting in both Common and Fel'ani. For hundreds of years, this message was never answered. Many have given up hope that it will ever lead to anything, and that they are in fact alone in the universe... Maybe this will change one day... Maybe...

OOC: Hello and welcome. If you've read this far in, that hopefully means you have some interest in what I've set up here. If so, then awesome! I hope you enjoy your time in here! But obviously there have to be rules. I shall have them outlined below.

RULESAhh oh no rules!

1: No godmodding. Please. Godmodding has the potential to absolutely ruin even the best laid plans, so I will have to ask that you don't purposefully do so. That being said, nobody is perfect. If you believe someone is godmodding, even me, politely bring it up. If you purposefully god mod, I will have to ask you to leave the RP.
2: No metagaming. There's no way you can know everything going on at once without being constantly told by something, or someone. Same as above, bring it up politely if you believe it is metagaming. No purposeful metagaming, or out you go.
3: No number wanking as they say. I don't mind if you bring in a couple of other ships, but for the love of Talos don't bring in massive mega uber battle fleets just to say hello. It might even help if you have a list of the forces you bring in, which would be good.
4: No one liners. I don't expect a novel to be typed up, but at least try to make it descriptive. Again, it doesn't have to be perfect.
5: Do. Not. Spam.
6: This is primarily a first contact RP. I would really prefer if no combat takes place.
7: Be polite. I don't want to have to end the RP because of flaming and such.
8: Have fun? It's not mandatory... but it would be nice

Scarlet IV, Lilacis System, Stormwrath Milky Way Colonies

The metaverse servers have been getting tons of data recently. A signal, or more accurately a message, had been detected somewhere in the direction of a certain constellation. For some reason the colonies were getting signals from almost all over the place, which doesn't come as a surprise. This galaxy is full of life everywhere, from the Terrans of Earth to the Arcadians of Arcadia. Perhaps this is another civilization to add to the already expanding list of first contacts with Stormwrath.

It has become a lot of a hassle, especially for Overseer Basil D'Avranches who was the head of the Convocation of Scarlet IV. Submission of reports of contact after contact have become a drag on his health. Sometimes he just wishes for the universe to stop attempting to contact the planet all the time. Occasionally he'd fall sick within the past few years, which may put him as a candidate for replacement by the Audience of Worlds. He must not let the stress get to his head, or he is done for. Basil immediately contacts the AIs working at the Milky Way Colonies Contact Agency, ordering them to send a ship over to find out who contacted them.

In response, the AIs prepared one of the exploration starships of Stormwrath, the SXCV Si Vis Pacem. For days, men, machines, and cargo equipment were being loaded onto the vessel in preparation for the contact with, ummm, whoever sent the message. Fel-ma-an, is that correct? They will know soon. The ship is currently docked at the Danke Elevator, the first space elevator built on the planet.

Captain Robert Arbalest was going through the routine check with his AI construct, Cassie. He had been going through a long list of stuff to check. "Status of Grid Engines?"

"In peak condition, Captain."

"Infinite Improbability Drives?"

"Up and running."

"Redstone Energy Barrier?"

"Full power, Captain."

"Good. How is the loading down at the cargo bays?"

"Almost finished, Captain."

Once everything was done and in order, Robert then said to the rest of his crew on the bridge, "Alright, standby for departure, waiting for Danke Elevator's response."

"Noted, SXCV Si Vis Pacem, you are clear for departure. May you prosper greatly."

The Si Vis Pacem began to disengage from the space elevator, with the Grid engines at initial power. It slowly departed from Scarlet IV and towards a relatively empty region of space, where gravity couldn't screw with the FTL drive's effects. It took an hour for them to get to the spot they wanted, and the IIDs activated. The ship disappeared in a flash, leaving behind a floating mass of rubber ducks floating around in space.

Ezaer System, Republic of Felmaan Territory

The Si Vis Pacem reappeared in the direction where the message came from. Perhaps this is the location of the source of it. So far, there have been no encounters with unknowns yet. Robert was now wondering if this was a mistake. Cassie detected a ship in the scanners, which didn't belong to any of the known signatures the Stormwrathian database had so far. Robert monitored the scanner through his holographic display. "Status of the unknown vessel?"

Documents started to appear in rapid succession all over the display. Cassie then explained, "From my quantum anomaly calculatons, it is most likely a destroyer. Approach with caution."

"That's your job", pointed out the Captain.

"Oh right, I'm actually steering this thing! My bad. I'll be readying the precautionary gun turrets if you don't mind."

"Oh, please do." All he has to do is open up a channel to the unknown vessel, or wait for it to contact the Si Vis Pacem. This is for him a tense moment, as the other vessel is an armed ship with what one would expect when he/she hears of a destroyer.

Everyone on the bridge looked at the view screen in a mixture of shock and surprise. Could it actually be a foreign ship? Aldo'rish herself looked shocked. The trance was only broken when First Officer Darik arrived at the bridge. "Apologies Captain, some of the Junior Officers asked for some help with exam preper-" He too notices the screen. He stares for a brief few seconds before continuing. "Is... Is that one of our ships Captain?" Aldo'rish finally looks away. "No... This is someone else. Send a message to Aal'ani. Tell them that we have unknown ships in orbit." The communications officer nodded and sent a brief message to the surface. "Anything else Ma'am?" "Yes, send a message to the unknown ship. Text only."

Greetings unknown ship. This is Captain Aldo'rish, RFS Spirit of Rebirth. Yours is a ship we do not recognize, as such we can only assume you are a foreign power, is this correct? Nonetheless, I extend to you a welcome to Aal'ani, a planet of the Republic of Felmaan. As it stands, you are the first foreign power to have visited Felmaani Space. Might I have the pleasure of knowing who commands your ship?

"Message sent Ma'am. Anything else?" Aldo'rish shook her head. "No. Not as of now. Carry on with your regular duties... Darik, how nice of you to join us. What do you make our our visitors here?" Darik grinned. "Aye Captain, I thought it time to grace the bridge with my presence. As for the ship, it looks to be a largely unarmed ship. However, we obviously won't know the exact details until we run a scan. Shall I do so now Ma'am?" Aldo'rish nodded, and motioned to the proper panels. "By all means Darik, we need to know what it is that has arrived..." Darik promptly walked to the panels and began a scanning protocol. "Scanning in progress Ma'am. We should know more about the ship momentarily."

OOC: I assume your ship is largely unarmed, correct?

Bridge Deck, SXCV Si Vis Pacem
Outside of Aal'ani, Republic of Felmaan

As the Si Vis Pacem approached the unknown vessel, the officers on the bridge caught a glimpse of the nearby planet. It was close to an ice world, but not quite there. On one side of the planet where the star's light touched, it looked like the northern wilderness of Chirutarisu. On the other side, a hint of civilization can be seen, with lights dotting through the darkness. The ship is currently perpendicular to the twilight zone of the planet, giving the view the officers saw.

The scanners have also picked up three destroyers near the planet, but it wasn't of much concern. However, Cassie was cautious in her next moves so she began to slow down the vessel. At least one gun was left online in case they attacked.

On Robert's holographic display, an icon flashed repeatedly, indicating a new message. He proceeded to tap on it, and it displayed a message coming from the other ship. They appeared to have a knowledge of Universal, the common language of the universe (although the Terrans seem to claim it as one of their own languages, English). Cassie then asked Robert in Elumbish, "Captain, how does it feel to be their first visitor from outer space?"

"Not very thrilling", replied the Captain apathetically. He then said to his liaison, "Send a reply to their message." The comms officer then typed away with speed, composing a message to send to the Spirit of Rebirth. "So it is Felmaan", Robert said to himself. He turned to Cassie and asked her, "So what is their demonym?"

Cassie took a few moments to think. "It's Felmaani. Didn't you read their message?"

"Right right, the message." Just as he said that, the comms officer sent the message to the other ship, in Universal.

Code: Select all
Salutations, Captain Aldo'rish of the RFS Spirit of Rebirth. This is Captain Robert Arbalest, commanding officer of the SXCV Si Vis Pacem. Thank you for the welcoming message. We have been given orders from the Convocation of Scarlet IV to search for the source of the message, and it led us to here. May I wish to know which planet and system is this vessel in currently?

Once the liaison was done sending, the captain then added, "Also, please send a message in Elumbish to Scarlet IV and Luce. They may need to know."

"Yes, Captain." Once again the comms officer composed another message to be sent to Overseer D'Avranches and Overseer Santori. Being the Overseers of two vital Convocatures, it was urgent that they have to know of what is happening.

Secundis, Luce, Iubar System, Stormwrath Milky Way Colonies

The reports from the Si Vis Pacem have reached Secundis, the capital of the convocature. Overseer Chester Santori could have might as well ignored those reports, as first contacts with other space faring nations have become commonplace ever since they entered the Milky Way Galaxy. However, the reports have also reached the Audience of Worlds back in the Tanabiku Galaxy, and at the moment he is in a video feed with Deputy High Overseer Adelaide Silver, who was also the Overseer of the Stormwrath Capital Convocature. High Overseer Cassandra Fairs happens to be out of reach for now.

"I think the Audience cannot ignore the recent string of contacts that the Milky Way colonies made with nearby nations", Adelaide said to Chester.

Chester replied, "I know that Overseer Silver, they have increased ever since Luce became our base of operations in this galaxy. I would just like to remind you and High Overseer Fairs that these encounters may continue as far as the future can go."

"I guess so. The Audience's concern was that these new civilizations we are finding may be possibly allies of each other, and probably hostile to other space faring civilizations that may come across their territory."

"Well, the Republic of Felmaan, at least according to the Si Vis Pacem's report, hasn't had any contact with other space faring nations yet, so I think we might be the first."

"That's good. Keep me posted on developments that may come from Scarlet IV and from Overseer D'Avranches."

"Will do, madam." And the video feed ended. Chester took a large sigh and looked out the window. "Guess that's one more to the list of contacted civilizations", he said to himself. He pulled out his data pad and began to type in a new entry for his personal journal. His term as Overseer of Luce and Head of the Stormwrathian Milky Way colonies has proven to be an interesting chapter in Chester's life.

OOC: Yes it is.

"Ah hell... The scanner is malfunctioning. I thought we had this working before we departed..." Darik sighs. "I'll get someone from technical to check it out... That aside, do you intend to invite any visitors we get aboard the ship?" Aldo'rish thinks about it for a moment. It would be a good chance to get to know any of the foreign visitors that visit... "More than likely. It would be a good idea. Not now though, but soon. I should like to eventually meet our counterparts here... Ah, they've replied." Captain Aldo'rish decides to personally type the message out this time, and sits at her console and begins to respond...

It is a pleasure to meet you Captain. I certainly can tell you your location, you are currently orbiting the planet Aal'ani, which orbits the star Ezaer. It is one of our oldest colonies, as well being a holy site for my people, and being named after a goddess. The moon you should be seeing soon enough is named Sar'oy, also being named after a goddess. Is there any other information you wish to know?

Bridge Deck, SXCV Si Vis Pacem

"Aal'ani, huh?", said Robert to himself. This was indeed an odd name, one that hasn't been heard before. It does resemble that of Proto-Elumbish, or maybe even Jabic; both of which are ancient languages. Cassie then chimed in, "Having trouble pronuncing that word, Captain? I think it is Ah-la-nee or Ahl-a-nee. I personally don't know, it could go both ways." And then there was that other word, Sar'oy; one that is just as new as Aal'ani. He then asked Cassie, "Okay what about Sar'oy?"

"Let's see, Sar-oi, Sa-roi, it could go both ways Captain."

He nodded in agreement as he sipped from his coffee tumbler. As soon as the other ship responded back he ordered the liaison to respond appropriately. Robert himself thought that they were going to possibly meet the Felmaani on their ship, and if otherwise, on the surface of the planet. He hopes that the ship can be supplied with cargo and materials exclusive to the planet, and that his crew won't desecrate any shrines while on the surface.

All of a sudden, he felt an urge to go to the bathroom and relieve himself. It may have been something that he ate before boarding the ship. It was probably that can of beans with tomato sauce, and he is now regretting that he ate a lot of the stuff. He said to Cassie, "Please handle things from here, I need to go to the restroom." He then turned to the liaison and ordered, "If they will respond to our message, do make one."

"Yes captain", the liaison replied. Cassie on the other hand replied, "Don't take too long sir, we may be given clearance."

"That's for you to handle."

"Right right, I forget too much. Run along sir, everything's going to run smoothly over here."

Negative Captain. I believe that is all we wish to know for now. We are requesting clearance for docking at Aal'ani, and if not, on Sar'oy or on one of the orbital stations.

Aldo'rish considered the request for a moment. It would certainly be easier to communicate in person... "Begin docking procedures with station Aal'ani. We will be meeting our new friends here..."

You may dock at station Aal'ani, deck four. You will receive a ping shortly from the location you can dock at. I look forward to meeting you face to face. Dawn of Rebirth out.

Aldo'rish began to make her way to the doors leading to the docking bay doors. She motioned to First Officer Darik, and he quickly began to follow her. "So Captain, we're going to properly introduce ourselves then? I hope they're not xenophobes... otherwise this could be awkward." The Captain nodded. "Indeed. However, I doubt they would have come all this way just to be taken aback by someone different from them. I believe things will go smoothly, if a bit odd at first." The pair entered approached the main door, waiting for the ship to dock...

After a few moments, the doors opened to the station. Felani and human civilians milled around the station, conversing and joking. Dozens of guards could be seen, in traditional Blue and Gold body armour, some with ears and tails poking out of their suits. The two continue silently continue to the dock they had told the other captain they may dock at. The two waited for the other ship to dock, somewhat unsure what to expect...
