Walking through the covered halls of a building currently undergoing an extensive modernization transformation, Tain Wu was a man on a mission. Within the black leather briefcase held firmly in his left hand, was a document fresh from the printer that would forever change the course of the NCU forever. All that was needed now, was a single signature at the bottom of the document from the president and the highly anticipated and slightly controversial plan would be put into action immediately.
Reaching the end of the hallway, Tain found himself standing in front of a set of wooden doors set in a plain metal frame. Taking a moment, the an adjusted the tie of his expensive business suit before reaching out and knocking firmly upon the surface of the door.
"Enter." Said a voice on the other side of the door.
Tain turned the knob on the door and entered the lavishly decorated presidential office. Taking several confident strides across the plush crimson carpet, he strode over to stand directly in front of the presidential desk and the stern looking man sitting behind it.
"I trust you bring me good news, for disturbing me at this early hour." Said the President not even looking up once from the paper that he was currently reading.
Tain quickly placed the briefcase upon the desks surface and opened it with a metallic snap. After a brief moment spent shuffling through the various documents contained within, he produced the legislation that he was looking for and placed it down next to the briefcase with a smile.
"Operation Clean Sweep is ready for commencement sir." He said with a smile. "All that is needed sir, is you're signature and can begin this very morning without delay."
This caught the mans full attention, and he calmly folded the paper up before pushing it to one side. Lifting the document up into the early morning light streaming through his offices window, he quickly glanced over the document with a sense of pride swelling inside him. Finally, after months of preparation and planning, all the pieces were finally in place and he could take the first real steps in securing the unions future. Pulling a pen from it's resting place on his desk, the president quickly and firmly signed his name at the bottom of the document before handing it back to Tain with a smile.
"Make sure this is implemented immediately without delay."
"Yes sir." Said Tain before turning quickly on his heel and exiting the office.
There was much to be done in the early morning yet....

0600 Hours
Across the Union, it's citizens awoke to a clear sky as the sun slowly started it's ascent into the blue sky overhead. Families and individuals alike started their daily morning routines, brewing coffee or tea, making breakfast, or watching the morning news to catch a glimpse of the weather forecast and traffic conditions. The day had every indication that it was going to be just another quiet day in the Union, however, things were already in motion that would shatter many lives and forever change the course of the nation.
In every city across the nation, police cruisers were seen escorting military tactical vehicles from their garrisons in the various military districts into the cities segregated housing units. These housing units were based upon the controversial "Communal Pod" design, which while slightly stressful for long term living, was incredibly efficient in both space and required upkeep resources. The pod design was mandated decades ago by the government, in response to a crisis that had arisen due to the nation physically running out of livable space for it's absurdly large population.
Each pod contained up to sixteen "Coffins" for individuals/families to sleep in, and shared a communal kitchen, living room, bathroom, and basic facilities with each other. Pods were clustered around a central muli story "Hub" that contained more extensive recreational areas that covered the basic needs of the thousands of people living attached to the complex. Each hub was as interconnected with an eco friendly mass transit system, ensuring that everyone regardless of financial situation could have access to a means of reliable transportation. Civilians of specific ethnic or religious beliefs were often segregated together in similar hubs, to save on logistical congestion for having to cater to everyone, everywhere at all times as in most westernized societies currently.
The vehicles pulled to a stop in front of the main entrance of several buildings, allowing armed soldiers in full combat gear to unload from their transports and march into the housing units while Union Police formed a cordon around the immediate area and stopped the flow of both incoming and outgoing traffic. Within minutes, the not so muffled screams of people could be heard coming from the now occupied pods as men, women, and children of Islamic Faith were forcibly pulled from their units at gunpoint before physically being restrained with plastic zip cuffs and lead off to the waiting transports. People who tried to openly resist or run from the government soldiers were subdued with less then lethal devices when possible in an effort to keep civilian casualties at an absolute minimum.
Once the cleansing of a POD was complete, the soldiers and police locked the building down before loading back onto their vehicles and moving on to a pre determined location, where Detainee Holding Areas (DHA) had been established inside various commuter rail heads for the screening and processing of the people being forcibly relocated. Once a person was processed into the system, they were injected with a RFID tracking chip the size of a grain of rice under their skin before being forced onto a waiting rail car for transport to an unknown location. This process continued across the entire nation for the next several days, as the entirety of the Islamic population within the Union, roughly twelve million people, was collected and processed by the government.
The purpose and reasoning behind this extreme move by the Union,was that the governing powers had finally had enough of the radical religion of Islam and the untold amount of suffering caused by it in the name of the pathetic god Allah. Realizing that so long as even one follower of the mockery religion was left to his or her own devices, the threat would always be there to anyone who so much as even made the religion the butt of a single harmless joke.
It was unknown how the world would take the news once it eventually leaked out to the international community, but the leadership of the NCU certainly wasn't loosing any sleep worrying about about it. After all, what was done was done for the greater good of the people, and that was good enough justification in their eyes.
