It's the year 2033. It's been 5 years since the end of the arms race, and a lot has changed in Syndikat.
The third Prime Minister, Adrien Desmarais of the Worker's Solidarity Party has come to power. Syndikat is now oil and gas free. Cars are all electric, and clean public transit is highly prevalent. Power is generated using Syndikat's state-of-the-art Space-based Solar Power system.
In space, Syndikat's section of the LISS is complete, including the centrifugal gravity module. Syndikat has made use of nuclear lifter technology provided by the Leftist International, and launches are now completely clean. The space shuttle has been phased out in favour of a new Single-Stage-To-Orbit spaceplane that makes use of the nuclear propulsion technology.
In the military, the new equipment and vehicles funded under the Futurization Omnibus have been mass produced and distributed. Syndikat's military numbers at 4.36 million, with 11 million in the conscripted militia. Syndikat's nuclear weapons program has been completed, with a total of 501 weapons ranging from 130kT to 55MT in yield.
Reforms have continued to expand democracy in Syndikat. The Second Syndikati Constitutional Convention occurred, restructuring how the gov't is formed. Syndikat is still formed from the same 25 provinces, though rather than gov't being operated top down, it is operated bottom up. Local municipalities are governed through Local Councils, who send delegation to the Provincial Councils, who then send delegation to the Federal Council. All federal laws now start at the local level, climbing up the chain until they pass into law. Syndikati democracy is now radically different, but amazingly egalitarian. Syndikat is growing ever closer to full communism.
