In the Company A, 27th Rifle Division, 65th Army has been re-assigned into 13th Guards and are now marching through the frontlines, "Germans has been a bitch lately" said by the factory worker as they marched in the roads *Boom* explosions erupted almost everywhere in Stalingrad. "Lieutenant ! We have got our company 20 anti-tank grenades, and we've been ordered to reinforce Tractor Factory." reported by his trustee sergeant, as they walked to their way to the factory. "For Rodina ! Let's kill these German bastards !" Shouted by his subordinates as they get ready and march to the onslaught. Food and rations are somewhat low and some of the men do not have enough bullets because of its scarcity.

The Unsettlement

Postby Neu Deutsches Vaterland » Wed Feb 04, 2015 7:54 pm

Angriff Gruppe Beschützer
10-SEPT-42
Urban Assault on the TF Workers Settlement
Hauptmann Franz Landa,
Company X, 431st regiment, 100th Jager Division

At 0300 on 10-SEPT-42, 20,000 men of the 100th Jager Division made a flanking assault on the russian though the city to its rear. The 431st JR along with 429th JR move toward the Russian rear. Hauptman Landa’s men silently penetrating the city under the cover of darkness, moving first though a small subdivision then across a field and into the main portion of the city just southeast of the tractor factory worker’s settlement. they held there about half a mile in the city, to wait for the artillery, their signal for the main assault.
At 0400, just as the sun rose over the city of Stalingrad, the roar of a shell the size of a small car hit the settlement. It was an 80cm HE shell from the Dora rail gun, and it tore a giant bloody hole in the defends position, one big enough to swallow an entire platoon, and threw a plume of dirt and earthen works high into the sky. Then all hell broke loose for the russian, as the german 80mm mortars, the screamin’ MeMes of the 30th Nebelwerfer Regiment, and the 10.5 cm leFH 18M opened up on the Settlement. Five minutes later a second 80cm shell, the signal for the attack, hit the settlement. Company X and about 4 SdKf 221s and 3 Sd.Kfz. Half-Tracks moved down the road that cut the other diagonally, and led almost right to the Settlement.
The first half mile was relatively unopposed with them only having to pause to silence the occasional MG. Then starting in the second mile of the road the MG nests became more frequent and the scattered roadblocks stood in the way of his armoured trucks, but still were only nuisances causing the company 14 casualties. 4 miles from the Settlement, however, is when the walk in the park turn into hard urban fighting. $miles of a living hell for Hauptmann Landa’s men; AT grenades destroyed 2 his of half tracks, and a molotov roasted 8 men alive in another. At 1200, Landa 2 miles away, buthe had lost nearly ¼ of his men and 1 of his armoured cars. The street fighting, rattenkrieg, was often within 10 meters of each other, hand to hand at times. Snipers took out a number of his junior officers; even Landa himself was running low on ammo from fighting. Landmines,, and boobytraps killed a number of his men, and by the time his men made it to their jumping off point at the end of the at 1300 he was left with 2 armoured cars and down to 90 men, of the 157 he’d began with.
Company X, and the rest of the regiment moving up the Roads cleared by the lead companies arrived then resupplied the 90 men of Company X. They then attacked at a weakly defended and panicked rear line of defenses of the settlement, due to the fact that the Tanks and one of the regiments attacked their front, not expecting the Germans to come from the rear until it was too late. The Russians had not been ready for the rear to be attacked, so it didn’t take long for the Germans to penetrate into the settlement, also the German tanks and men of the front line assault started to break through; but to the dismay of the German command, almost every man, woman, and child was fighting them foot for foot of ground and they were backed up by more conscripts, regulars and guards rifles. The communist fought well into that night and the next day, taking heavy casualties, both civilian and military, but inflicting heavy casualties on the germans. Finally, at 1800 on the 11th the last of the russians either retreated or lay dying. That day, out of the 101 tanks and 40,000 men that attacked, 26 tanks were destroyed or disabled and 15,000 Germans lay dead or wounded. The russian losses were innumerable. Hauptmann Franz Landa, shot in the led, limped his way around the settlement taking in the ghastly sight, before ordering his men to start helping the wounded, and gathering and identifying the dead. It was going to be a costly campaign Landa thought

Enemy at the Gates

Postby Olorian » Fri Feb 06, 2015 7:38 am

Corporal Milkovan crawled his way through the rubble of a shelled storage warehouse. His spotter, Private Kalenske, crawled behind him. Their objective was simple, take out enemy officers and stunt the forward advance of the Krauts. His Mosin Nagant with a 6x scope was strapped to his side, his cap tucked into his belt. He finally came to the end of the rubble and pulled himself up into a window. Slowly, he used a mirror to look out of a nearby hole. His comrades on the streets were managing to hold off the Hitlerites, but were slowly being pushed back to the dock. He motioned for the Private to take out his binoculars, and give him a target. He unwrapped the cloth around his scope, which he had put on to make sure it kept clean and didn't get him spotted, and slowly set himself up to shoot out of the hole.

"Kraut officer comrade, two hundred meters, behind that rubble." Said Private Kalenske. Milkovan nodded and slowly adjusted his rifle for bullet drop, and aimed at the officer. It looks like he was organizing his men for another assault into the Russian lines, and was addressing some of his subordinates. Milkovan breathed in one last time, then breathed out. He then held his breath, or lack thereof, as he slowly pulled the trigger...

**SCOUT SNIPERS DEPLOYED TO HOLD OFF THE FASCIST SCUM**

OOC: Basically, multiple Russian Scout Snipers are now running around the city, taking out VIP targets and generally being a nuisance.

**TRACTOR FACTORY**

Shells whistled in as they blew apart Russian fortifications, everywhere there was Russians firing back at the slowly approaching German line. Mortars, AT guns, and small artillery boomed in the mass noise as they tried to give support to the infantry and conscripts that covered every bit of cover they could. At some points, brave Russian soldiers could be seen engaging the Germans with rifle, bayonet, knives, shovels, and anything they could use. The tractor factory was going to be lost, but brave factory workers were building tanks as the battle raged, then manning it to be sent right to the front lines to support the defense. They would lose the Tractor Factory, but the Germans wold have to fight for every inch they took.

Winds of Winter

Postby Olorian » Fri Feb 06, 2015 7:51 am

Winter is slowly beginning to settle in, the air grows colder and snow will begin to fall soon. The Germans are not ready for such a brutal winter as the ones the Russians are used to, and General Winters may take his fair share of kills in the coming months...

OOC: Basically, Winter is about to begin in Stalingrad, and as such, the Winter Campaign will begin soon. This will add new things, such as random snow storms, fog, etc. These will appear randomly, and your soldiers CAN start dying if they are caught out in some of these things. If your soldiers can not reach suitable protection from them, they will begin to die.

Hill 107
Anton Kompanie, 99. Infanterieregiment
Hauptmann Otto Matick Reiffel

The darned winter was approaching. At first, the soldiers pretended that it was nothing; however, more and more cases of frostbite began plaguing the company, with more and more falling sick. A sixth of his entire company, just under fifty men, were lying in field hospitals. It became all to clear to Reiffel that the winter was rapidly draining the energy of his men…

The 99. Infantry Regiment was dug in in lines along Hill 107. Sporadic Russian counterattacks were beaten back, but each attack took its toll on the defending troops. The lines were also under constant fire from snipers, who were well hidden amongst the rubble of the city. Reiffel himself had a few lucky scrapes with death. A bullet hole in the top of his helmet which had lightly scraped his head, proved just that.

The Reds were preparing another counterattack. They seemed to have an endless amount of energy, and an endless amount of man (and woman and children) power to draw from. The cold didn’t seem to bother them; it only served to make them harder. WIth renewed vigor the waves of Russians poured forward once again, after a largely ineffective and inaccurate artillery barrage. Reiffel didn’t have to give orders. Along the entire German line, machine guns opened fire, ruthlessly cutting down one soldier after another. Battle tanks, mostly old T-26’s and T-28’s appeared in an random and uncoordinated manner, using their cannons as direct artillery, pounding the German trenches and dug-ins. They weren’t very successful: Those that didn’t fall to the Panzerschrecks and artillery got stuck in the thick mud, their tracks uselessly churning out the earth. Nevertheless, this attack had been carefully planned and organized. The Russian lines steadily advanced, fallen men and women quickly replaced. Some German machine guns, close to overheating and not used to the rough Russian weather, spluttered and jammed. Under fire, Reiffel crawled toward an MG-team who were trying to get their machine gun to work again. One of them had grabbed a 98k rifle and was firing angrily at the incoming swarm of Russians.

”FOLGT MIR ZUR RECHTEN FLANKE, ZUM 4. ZUG! SIE HAN IHRN MG VERLOREN! GEHT DIREKT DORTHIN!” screamed Reiffel at the machine gunner, to be heard over the gunfire. The assistant gunner fired his final shots as they both grabbed their gear and left the dug out, crawling after Reiffel. On the way, Reiffel somersaulted into a quiet machine gun nest. Behind the mounted machine gun lay two dead German soldiers of the fifth platoon. Reiffel grabbed the heavy machine gun, passing all ammunition he could find to the assistant gunner. The three of them continued crawling, reaching the section which the Russians were threatening to overrun. Reiffel ordered both Gefreiters to set up, calling on another wounded private to help him operate the gun.

”Herr Hauptmann, hinter dem Hügel! Gleich-“

”Captain, behind the hill! Now- “

Reiffel pulled the trigger, and the heavy machine gun burst to life, ripping apart several Russians who’d attempted to sneak up on them. The remainder ducked, grenades flying out of their positions. Reiffel ducked his head as they exploded, sending shrapnel flying above his head. It was a smart move of the Russians, that area could prove lethal to them…

Reiffel turned to the machine gunners.

”GE’N SIE MIR DECKUNG, HALTE IHRE KÖPFE ‘RUNTER! ICH GREIFE DIE MISTKERLE HINTER DEM HÜGEL AN!”

”Give me cover, keep their heads down! I’ll assault the idiots behind that hill!”

He ran along the trench, stepping over numerous bodies, finally grabbing hold of Atachow, the Cossack platoon commander, giving his orders. The Cossack nodded, calling the platoon together. The battle-hardened Cossacks readied their rifles and ammunition, distributing their grenades. They had no problem adapting to the realities of modern day combat- from fierce riders they’d quickly become skilled and courageous Grenadiers fit for service in the Waffen-SS (albeit without the right skin color). As one, lead by Reiffel, the Cossacks came out of the trenches, moving forward swiftly in face of the bullets. Grenades were hurled as the first squad charged the Russian position, closely followed by the second. Reiffel and his Cossack platoon found themselves outnumbered, the platoon of Russians in the position numbering around 40, to Reiffels’ 25. Violent and brutal close combat followed as the Cossacks began bayoneting the Russians, who were fighting for a government which had ordered the summary execution of so many of their fathers. Not for the first time, Reiffel found himself in the midst of the battle. Next to him, Atachow expertly used his sabre, nowadays quite a rarity, to hack his way past anyone who came in his way. A bullet strafed Reiffel’s shoulder. He rapidly ducked, lifted his machine pistol and sent three bullets flying into the aggressors chest. He backed out, shouting and gesticulating to 2nd platoon behind him, to come and help them out. Warily, the troops crept out, rushing toward him. Reiffel ran forward to rejoin the fighting, however, it was nearly over. The Russian platoon had offered fierce resistance, half of them lay dead, the other half lay wounded on the ground. The Cossacks, who’d barely lost a few men, quickly took advantage of their forward position and began firing into the flanks of the attacking Russians. The second platoon brought up their machine gun and, when they were joined by the machine guns of the heavy weapons platoon, the Russian assault on this sector was ended. The surviving Russians began retreating hastily back toward where they came from.

Unfortunately, that was not true for the other side. In Reiffel’s absence, the Russians had managed to reach and charge the trenches on several spots. Platoons from other companies poured in to assist Reiffel’s platoons, several of which were embroiled in an outnumbered fight. Reiffel and the Cossacks plunged themselves into the battle in the light trenches.

But this time, even with his trusted Cossacks, the Russians prevailed. More and more Russians charged into the trench; it had developed into a hopeless fight. The German troops, unused and ill-equipped against the Russian winter, had little energy to spare. Blood was dripping through and out of Reiffels shirt; a bayonet had cut a long but luckily not very deep cut into his chest and left arm. As he backed out, reloading his MP-40 with some difficulty, he screamed at his men to retreat. Surviving German troops backed out, all the while firing back at the Russians, half crawling, running and shooting toward the next German lines. But the madness wouldn’t end there. Another two bullets strafed Reiffel’s stomach and legs. A snipers is having a bad day, he thought. Arriving at the second lines amongst men of his first platoon, he soon discovered that reinforcements had been gathered and that a counter-counter attack was being planned. Troops poured in to assist the bulge which Reiffel had created, which was by now coming under heavy attack by the Russians.

Once again, the commanders urged the soldiers forward. Forward, through the mud, through the artillery barrages, through the gunfire which was carpeting the entire area. Forward, ”Für den Führer, und für das Reich!”. Reiffel scoffed at the last words, but there was nothing to be done. He stood up straight, speaking slowly, loudly and clearly to the exhausted men of his company- now numbering a total of one hundred and fifteen men. Roughly a third of the entire starting strength that day. Roughly two hundred men lying dead or badly wounded, at the hands of the evil communist bastards.

”Unsere Kameraden liegen in den Gräben da vorne. Männer, ehrenwerte Soldaten des Dritten Reiches, noch ein letztes Mal heute- VORWÄRTS, MIR NACH!”

”Our comrades are lying in the trenches in front of us. Men, honorable troops of the Third Reich, for one more time today- Forward, after me!”

He had barely finished the sentence when a nearby explosion hurled him violently in the air. The Bavarian was quickly grabbed by his adjutant and Atachow, who were screaming words that Reiffel couldn’t understand. As he looked down, he found himself covered in his own blood. His consciousness began leaving him… as he was being carried away on the stretcher, the last things he saw for today- possibly for ever- was the assault of the German infantry, its fanatical troops crawling their way forward through the deep, wet mud in the face of explosions, bullets and the freezing Russian Winter.

Brace yourselves..... Winter is Coming

Postby Neu Deutsches Vaterland » Mon Feb 09, 2015 6:35 am

6th A.O.K
Generalfeldmarschall Paulus
General Order 43

Winter is quickly coming, and since our advance has been slowed somewhat, and since we are not prepared for major operations during the winter, I hereby or that every German unit shall dig in, and build their defenses. Our intelligence suggests that the Russians will take advantage of the in-climate weather to make counter attacks, and maybe attack the Italians and Romanians to our flanks. So I will send a division of German Infantry, two tank battalions, and some AT to bolster the defenses of each.
We will make our defenses strong and wait until we get the proper supplies from the rear, but this wont be until January. So until then I want every commander to take the measures necessary to prevent cases of frostbite,Hypothermia, and trench-foot. Also in January will come the ferries and boats necessary to send Army Gruppe Amboss across the Volga to further thwart Russian attempts to attack our flanks and reinforce Stalingrad.
In Preparation for January our Final major offensive before digging in will come on the docks Eastern Docks to solidify the already tight grip we hold in that Sector. The Attack will be made by the XIV Panzer Corps 3 panzergrenidier divisions, and the 16th panzer division. We expect stiff resistance since they have been dropping off smaller units there with almost nowhere to go. After we secure the docks they will IMMEDIATELY dig in and prepare for a crossing. Also while we prepare for the main assault, several SS infiltration units, dressed as Russians will cross at night and make their way into the Russian rear to disrupt the movement of men, so dissent, destroy supply dumps and generally cause chaos in the Russian rear. In total they will number in battalion strength crossing at different times and different place or even different places. inside Stalingrad another similarly disguised SS battalion will do the same to the defenders, as well as scouting their positions and calling in artillery. Also as for the worker settlement bulge, i expect Army Group Protector make light assaults at them and and take them by February
It has also come to my attention that our high ranking officers are being sniped by Russians sharpshooters. In response i have mobilized our own snipers and given them autonomy with order to target other snipers and the Russian leaders. I also want snipers in overwatch for any German incursions into the city. Also the saluting of officers is in Verbotten , and Officers on the front are ordered to wear enlisted uniforms and rank insignia to prevent from being targeted by Snipers, Crush caps can be worn, but if possible where the Feldwebel versions. I know this will not be popular, because many of you are very capable and proud commanders who have earned your places, but remember that pride Cometh before a fall. I cannot afford to lose any more commanders and platoon leaders becuase they feel that there bits of cloth are more important than their lives. It has not killed the enlisted, so it won't kill the officer corps.
Remember men, the Key to defeating general Winter is to Dig in good, and deep and keep warm. With fresh troops arriving form the Fatherland every day, and our supply lines improving everyday by truck train and plane; do not doubt our capability to hold our ground for the winter and regain momentum in the spring. Nothing will stop us from taking the Volga and the city here. Once we capture the docks we can place artillery and Machine Guns on the banks and put an end to the Russians crossing of the Volga. Stalin will soon lose his pet city.

Generalfeldmarschall Freidrich Paulus

STALINGRAD FRONT
GENERAL ORDERS
SOVIET HIGH COMMAND

General Winters has come to help us in our time of need comrades. He has come to help push the Germans from the city, and force them into their cold, dank trenches out in the plains. While they hold the outside, we still hold the city herself. You are to build up defenses and warm spots, and then move to prevent the Hitlerites from having their own warm areas. Spend as many men as you need, but sabotage their fuel supplies, use the scout snipers, which are trained for this kind of environment, and prevent them from resisting the cold. Do this, and General Winters will wipe out the fascist scum for us. Defend Stalingrad at any cost, and I do mean, ANY cost. For the Rodina! Not one step back!

Signed,
General Zhukov

TO: HIGH COMMAND
FROM: HAUPTMANN REINHARDT SCHULTZ, 112TH INFANTRY REGIMENT

In regards to the new orders to dig in, I need clarification if my previous orders are still active or to follow the new directive and dig in and fortify my current position. If previous orders still stand then update is forces are assembled and ready.
