The Sahrawi People's Republic is a small country in Northwestern Africa, directly Southeast of the Canary Islands. A sparsely populated desert country, notable for its fertilizer exports and its Atlantic fisheries. A Ectarlars colony until 1940, it was a Mandate of the Socialist Federal Republic of Ectarlars until it gained its independence in 1948, under the leadership of the communist-led Sahrawi Popular Front, which has maintained a single-party People's Republic since. A founding member of the Elcarsmog Treaty Organization, it has always maintained extremely close relations with the The Empire of Ectarlars. It is generally considered as an Ectarlars satellite state, and some international analysts consider it an Ectarlars colony in all but name. Despite its low population density, it is a prosperous country with universal education and healthcare, and a functioning university in Laayoune, the capital. It is one of the most secular Muslim majority countries, and the sahrawi people are notable for their progressive views. They haven't had any remarkable trouble suppressing capitalism and political Islam.
The only meaningful threat to the country's stability is the neighbouring Kingdom of Morocco: The Sultans of Rabat consider Sahara a foreign-occupied Moroccan province, with border skirmishes being a common occurrence. The Moroccans launched a serious invasion in 1992, hoping that the collapse of the socialist bloc would prevent the commies from counter-attacking. But BTO didn't budge, and they proceeded to encircle and systematically slaughter the invading force.
Two decades later, the Moroccans were ready to give it another go and presented an ultimatum to the Sahrawi communists and the Elcarsmog Treaty Organization. In her capacity as head of the Elcarsmog Treaty Organization, Chairwoman Lena Ferrer vowed to utterly destroy the Moroccan State if they dared to violate the sovereignty of Sahara again.
