Instead of urban I would go for somthing more open and rural for an OP.

Operation Thunderous Retort


SITUATION: The location of known terrorist Geoff Underskaff of the Forward Shade Party has been located by the New Hayesalian Intelligence Corps in a small complex in the overseas Zellatian territory Fruria (aka New Zellatia), it's current status signed in a trilateral agreement in exchange for peaceful agreements. Due to ongoing FSP attacks in New Hayesalia and Zellatia, the NH Government is likely to conduct further retaliatory operations. However, Underskaff is known to be responsible for organising the June 9, 2013 attempt against the Hayesalian Spirit building in Oppentin.

The sophisticated attack, using three hijacked airliners, saw the death of 917 people, but was foiled by the New Hayesalian Air Force. In the event of a conventional strike against the area, known as 'New Zellatia', Underskaff would likely go to ground and serving justice to this criminal would become even more difficult. His potential connections to 'The Prophet' also make him a valuable intelligence source, before his trial in New Hayesalia for terrorism charges and other counts.

The area is hostile to New Hayesalian people, and especially troops. Helicopter insertion and HALO drops are out of the question due to a limited enemy anti-air presence - HAHO drops would likely be successful. For this reason, a New Hayesalian Navy submarine will be used in the insertion and exfiltration of a majority of troops. Due to Atlas' mission to track the Prophet, a multinational operation has been suggested.

The area in question is located 1.2km west from the New Zellatian coast, 3km east of the city of Zikke where a medium-sized militant outpost is known to exist. The coastline is rocky and features a sheer cliff face which teams will have to climb to infiltrate or exfil. [RL reference Alonissos, Greece.] The land is scrub and brush with the complex being nestled in a forest clearing.

MISSION: TF Atlas troops, under direction of the Battlefield Assault, Strategic, Tactical and Innovative Operations Node [BASTION], are to capture Geoff Underskaff and extradite him to an Atlas interrogation centre.

EXECUTION:

There will be five distinct elements.

~ RECON
~ ASSAULT FORCE
~ HEAVY WEAPONS
~ MOUNTAIN
~ BOATS

Phase 1: Reconnaissance of the compound, drop zone and exfiltration zones.

Phase 2: Preparations for operations. Assault force arrives by HAHO jump on moonless night. Boat, Mountain and Heavy weapons arrive by inflatable boat from NH submarines. Mountain troops arrive to establish climbing lines and provide security to the flanks of the Heavy Weapons teams. Heavy weapons teams climb up mountain and prepare firing line of MGs and mortars. Assault force is briefed on compound operations, boat troops maintain guard position at the shore.

Phase 3: Assault force and recon force enter compound and capture the HVT. HVT is then taken to the exfil point by the joint forces. Mountain force is ready to defend the flanks of the exfiltrating assault/recon forces. As they withdraw, mountain troops follow.

Phase 4: All teams (except Boat) rappel to the boats and exfil. Fire support will be authorized at this time via submarine-launched missiles. Mission accomplished.

ADMIN AND LOGISTICS

NH submarines - 1 or 2 depending on team size - will be deployed as a staging base. The enemy lacks anti-submarine capability. The enemy possesses anti-air capability. Any alerting of the enemy to an Atlas taskforce presence before Phase 3 will likely lead to mission failure.

COMMAND AND CONTROL

BASTION will be responsible for the safety of the HVT once captured. The NH Military will provide support elements as necessary. Atlas HQ will be in command of all other tactical and operational matters.

Also, it's best to let the individual teams chose how they want to Infil. You play it to strict (like in Operation : Ceaser) it eliminates any flexibility they may have.

Good point. I'll say that's a recommended infil, with a note that this is stealth-ops to the max. And I found my RP tie in so, ya know

Actually there are 5 missions planned, big dfference. Direct Action Missions may pop up. It would be nice if missions didn't jump the line and we went through with the developed concepts/people's ideas. Especially if we think about possibly splitting some of the missions, a 5 mission list is not as far off as you just made it seem. But we need to deal with this concept of direct action missions.

As Syl said, I realize that we have a lot of planned ones. But I'm thinking of creating a rather rapid and simple operation which could be like a "baptism of fire" or something like that for 'newer' members like me working with Atlas.

Basically, a Wankan oil tanker (will take a structure of a general purpose tanker from google images) is hijacked by Cantonese pirates from Heunggang (err... think Somalia). The crew manage to alert the Wankan Coast Guard who quickly surround the ship. The pirates hold the crew hostage and threaten to kill them if the Coast Guard doesn't let them pass through. In the southern Wankan mountains, several ATLAS groups (those that are participating) are training with the newly-included Koppa team (mine) to help them operate in an english environment (amongst others). An in extremis operation is then launched to rescue the hostages and tanker.

Of course, this is just very basic, just want to see if such an op would be permitted and if anyone (preferably those that aren't participating in anything currently) would be interested. I understand that URA and those already involved in current operations might be too busy so I'd gladly do the OP and most of the lead-up work (if you guys are fine with me doing this under the PW banner). I'll expand the synopsis of the plot in more detail if this attracts interest.

Personally, I like that last post I did and the one before from the dam Captain's perspective.

I think it shows that not everyone we fight is an evil overlord bent on world domination or the destruction of a nation. Farhad and the majority of his underlings legitimately thought they were doing what was right for their country while at the same time, going about it the wrong way since they had to get the Prophet's help in order to attempt the revolution.
