King Signs Gender Liberty Act
ANN, Liberty-City - Today, after the final passage of the bill in both houses of the Allanean legislature, King Alexander Blaken-Kazansky has attended a session of the Free Kingdom Senate to finally sign what has been dubbed by many to be a historic piece of legislation - the Gender Liberty Act.
While the Armed Forces of the Free Kingdom have long respected the rights of all non-gender-binary individuals, and have been ordered to recognize non-binary genders by executive order, the Gender Liberty Act hereby affirms such recognition to all branches of the federal government of the Free Kingdom. From now on, all forms and documents of the Free Kingdom Federal government, including immigration forms, will recognize all genders. Approximately a dozen of the most common genders will be noted on the forms or in drop-down menus on government websites, while a write-in option will be available on the forms for other genders.
A representative of the Allanean Gender Rights Association (AGRA), Sasha N. Daniels, noted in xyr reply: “This is a great step for all Freemen, and we feel that the state governments should all follow suit in creating their own gender-neutral or gender-recognizing forms. We have already made good progress in several jurisdictions, and are happy to see this much progress being made.”
That said, the New World Order Party of Allanea had opposed the bill due to what they termed as an “increase in government spending” listed in the bill, and many members of the Anarchist Party have abstained outright. Many Republican Senators and Representatives have voted against the motion, but regardless it passed 65%-35% in the House and 70-40 in the Senate.
In his signing speech, King Alexander Blaken-Kazansky has said, in part: “It is by a historical error that Allanea had not passed this act a long time ago. I am happy to say that now our nation will step forward, towards progress and liberty, with all civilized nations.”
After the signing, a party was held at the headquarters of AGRA as well as a larger, outdoor rave event was held at the ground of the University of Concord, Liberty-City, sponsored by Simon Phoenix Movie Studios. In addition, members of AGRA’s militia have held an armed paramilitary parade that started out at the University grounds and proceeded to Worship Hill, where members of the gender rights movement, the LGBT community and the Veterans’ Association of Allanea laid down flowers at the Victory Obelisk.
