"Following the annexation of Siam earlier this year, King Rama VI of Siam had fled to the neighboring state of Burma. The dictator of Burma has refused to expedite the monarch, and has even voiced his condemnation of the annexation. Until very recently, these condemnations were merely empty words. None the less, troop mobilizations have been in effect for the past several weeks; and the Rajahdesi fleet has been seen passing through the Singapore Strait, presumably towards the Andaman Sea. The Rajah has declined to comment on the buildup of troops along the borders of Burma."
Earlier this week, at a speech at the close of ceremony marking formation of the third Rajahdesi High Council, the Rajah announced that Rajahdesu has begun hostilities towards Myanmar, following an attack on Rajahdesi forces stationed near the town of Myawaddy. The skirmish escalated into a full fledged battle over the town. Shortly after the conflict began, Rajahdesi troops along the Burmese border received the order to advance.
The Burmese military, temporarily caught off guard, faltered enough for Rajahdesi infantry to overrun the defense lines near the border, allowing the Rajahdesi army to sweep into southern Myanmar. The Rajahdesi army currently occupies Burmese territory south of the mouth of the Sittang River, with the exception of the cites of Myeik and Mawlamyine. The majority of the Rajahdesi military force in Myanmar is currently preparing to advance further.
The Rajahdesi naval force stationed near the mouth of the Irrawaddy River has established a naval blockade of Myanmar. A small fleet of gunboats and patrol vessels has been dispatched to scout the river.
Further developments in the war with Myanmar will be released as they are reported from the front.
Rajahdesi News Updates on the War in Myanmar
The stalemate at the Sittang River has been broken! Rajahdesi forces had been previously forced to halt at the banks of the Sittang river weeks ago, having met considerable resistance as they tried to cross. Trench lines awaited on the opposite banks where crossing was possible. The two armies battled over the river for weeks, before a small fleet of Rajahdesi gunboats advanced up the river, allowing enough Rajahdesi troops across the river for a foothold to be established on the opposite bank, near the mouth of the river. With a solid foothold in place, the Sumatran Infantry Cord was able to lead a large scale flanking maneuver on entrenched Burmese forces miles to the north. With the Burmese infantry in retreat, the Sumatran Infantry Cord and Javanese Infantry Army were able to advance as far as within 20 miles of Yangoon.
The sieges of Myiek and Mawlamyine have ended with Rajahdesi victory, albeit with heavey casualties on both sides. the southern extension of Burma is effectively under Rajahdesi control.
The war in northern Myanmar has reduced to stalemate along the border, as guerrillas on both sides have rendered advance impossible to both sides.
The scouting fleet of approximately three dozen gunboats has swelled to a full-on seizure of the lower Irrawaddy River, utilizing nearly two hundred gunboats and several shallow-keel cruisers and troop transports. The main body of the flotilla is sweeping up the river, and will deploy troop divisions to flank to main Burmese force and harass supply lines.
Meanwhile, the nations few formidable warships have won against the meager Burmese Royal fleet, and has advanced up the Yangon River towards Yangon. The city is currently under naval bombardment as troops are deployed from troop transports nearby. The siege of Yangon has begun.
Total troop commitment in Myanmar: 2,740,300
